Aaron watched, a bit amused at the sword girl's sudden thirst for the... wine. He'd not known one of the plainsfolk to drink so quickly. Perhaps the fact that he'd heard no tales of Sacaens and wine should have tipped him off a bit to her ignorance, but his mind had not been there.
Good thing Xavier's here with us. he thought, as he saw the healer setting to work. Perhaps it was a bit early though. Some people liked to feel the buzz for awhile, though he was beginning to suspect Mana would require a bit of instruction in wine drinking.
"Here.... When you're drinking wine, you don't merely gulp it down. Small sips. Savor the scent and taste of it.... Perhaps a small bit more would be appropriate?" Wine was not usually a drink that would muddle a person overly much. Not unless they drank too much too fast, at any rate.
"But yes.... It's always better to share meals with friends." Aaron's face grew somewhat distant. Here he was, at a fine dinner, and Lilith was off... Who knows where right now.

Some of the twinkle in Varia's eyes faded as Wein began telling of his past, in Ostia. Oh, it was interesting enough, but he'd obviously missed her purpose. Avoided the bait. She'd been fishing for a compliment on her beauty. Golden hair, bright green eyes, anything really.... Instead, he had taken her seriously. Really now? Why would she ask him anything about the study and use of green things?
Mere moments later, Varia saw that one of her servants had entered the hall. This must be about the knocking earlier.
"So? Who is at my door?" She asked quickly. While it was good for business and reputation to maintain the welcoming persona, she sometimes tired of it. As she was beginning to now.
"Milady, a man waits in one of the front rooms. He says he came hoping you could assist with a heart condition he has."
Six unexpected guests in a day was approaching her record. Seven was the number of completeness though. Perhaps she ought to try and be more patient. She was sure her mother would have wanted it so. Back to business.... Heart condition.
"Please excuse me for a few moments. Business before pleasure...." She said, throwing on a slight smile, and standing up from her chair. She exited the room through the door that the maid had come through. The servant following to get back to her tasks.

"Greetings Sir, I am Varia Saint, healer and herbalist. What is your name, and what can you tell me of your troubles?" A blond-haired, blue-eyed woman swept into the room that Yaen was in, a staff in one hand, and a closed satchel in the other.
She looked him over, as she set her satchel on the ground, and began sifting through it. He looked like he'd been on the road for years. Never stopping for long. Many nomads had that look about them. This one looked strong and fast as well though, and carried a multitude of swords, which were laid out nearby. Her eyes lingered on one of the weapons. He must be very wealthy, or very fortunate to have come by that one.

Yaen rose as a woman entered the room. Politely, he bowed for a few moments. "Good evening, Lady Varia. I am sorry for bothering you so late." he replied apologetically. "My name is Yaen of the Amasi. I was told in a near village that you may be able to help me with my affliction." he explained. "Five years ago, closer to six now, I received a wound to my heart. Miraculously, the local healer was able to save me from death, but the damage was not completely repaired. Every so often, I suffer from incredible chest pain. Here." he explained, placing his hand over his heart. "When it happens, I can't breath, and it hurts too much to even stand. It's gotten worse as the years go on, and I'm afraid that one day it may kill me." Yaen admitted. "Please, is there any way you can help me?"

Varia kept an eye on the man out of the corner of her eye, but didn't turn to look just yet. That didn't stop her from listening as she was rifling through her satchel. An injury to his heart.... What exactly did that entail?
She retrieved what she'd been collecting from the bag. Several clean pieces of cloth, some jars of various types of ointments, a few assorted roots, and a cutting board with tools. Lastly, came a large pale blue book with a worn binding on it. Nothing physically noticable changed as she set it on a nearby desk, but the air itself seemed to be humming with power radiating from the book.
Finally, she stood, approaching him and meeting his eyes with her own."You say your heart was injured. Was this from blunt force? Internal damage, maybe?"
His symptoms sounded serious, as though his heart was under some pressure of some kind. It could be very serious, if it was as bad as he said, but she was well practiced at keeping a calm tone for her patients. She needed to know more before she could know how to respond.

"I was stabbed in the heart with a lance." was Yaen's blunt reply. There was no use beating around the bush. The sooner it was out there, the sooner she could help him. Besides, as he'd said before, he valued sharp swords and blunt words. The swordmaster reached to tug on his robe. "Please, allow me to show you." He tugged the robe loose, brushing the cloth aside to reveal the scar over his left breast. "Please, is there anything you can do? Anything at all?" he pleaded softly.

OoC: Aaron's ditching the thread tonight, but I'll play Varia for as long as it's needed. Forgive the skipping nature of this post, but I needed to get Aaron out of the thread, and this was the best way to do so.... Lookout people. Amateur Fake Expert Doctor on the loose. You did want him fixed up some, right Yaen?.... Also, Blue gem cash in. Money = Fimblevetr and Lightning, and possibly a bit left over. Or not. I just remember I can afford it with the Blue Gem.
BiC
Varia raised an eyebrow as Yaen explained, before stepping closer and taking a look for herself. Softly, she touched the scar tissue, her eyes resembling the glare of a hawk. He should be dead from this, yet he wasn't. The healer who fixed this must be incredibly strong or talented. Or just lucky.
She shook her head slightly, at the strangeness of it all.
"You're lucky to have lived this long, swordsman.... I'm not my Mother, but I'm far from useless." The trick was finding out what exactly the issue was. Was the wall of his heart weakening? Or was the scar tissue pressing on it? Getting the scar to contract some would effectively shrink it, and reduce pressure on internal organs, but could weaken the heart's integrity. Strengthening the heart's walls could stiffen the scar material. It could even be toxins gathering in the body, that the bloodstream would usually carry away with it. There were bound to be some of those. Dealing with all the issues would be the best, of course, but how to do so.... Perhaps she could do something for him.
"There are some things I can do for you which will help, but it will take preparations. In the mean time, stay the night. I have a couple rooms to spare. Rest, and I'll be able to help you tomorrow morning" She placed a hand on his shoulder, reassuring him. Preparations... She was going to have to pull an all-nighter for this one. She wasn't willing to wait any longer than necessary for this bit of herbal and arcane magic.
"Let me tell my guests that I'll be unavailable, and then I'll have a plate of food sent out to you. You may take one of the remaining rooms in the guest wing for the night."
Varia excused herself, and made her way to the dining hall where her guests were.
" I'm sorry friends, but duty calls. Thankyou for sharing the meal with me, and I hope you enjoy the night's stay. One more will be joining your number in the guest wing tonight. Please be open towards him."
-----
It was the middle of the night. Aaron had crashed almost as soon as he had gotten back to his room, yet now he found himself waking in the dead of morning. Silently, he got up, and got himself dressed. Perhaps a walk around the gardens would help him get back to sleep.
It was peaceful out. Saffra was likely out sleeping under some tree somewhere. Or On top of one, perhaps. He wondered about the life of a dragon occasionally. What was it like to be so ancient and powerful?
Ahead, he saw lights. A pair of people. One bearing the long blonde locks of Varia, their hostess. The other seemed to be some dark haired, average looking man. The green-haired sage couldn't quite make out what they were saying, but the chance for evesdropping soon passed. Varia's gaze turned to him, and picked him out of the darkness almost instantly, despite the shadow
"This was fortuitous timing, Master Winsett. That was a man of mine bringing word back of you quarry. Seems that travelers place her in a monastary in Worde at the moment. Ms Degarte, I think. They say she killed her own parents a mere day ago.... Are you sure you know what you"re doing?"
Aaron's face drained of blood when he heard about Lilith's parents. Even so, there was still the triumph of knowing where she was now. He'd taken too long. If only he'd been able to move a little quicker..... Laus. It was a hard day's ride from here. Perhaps a bit more. It was still necessary to hurry..
"Not at all," He answered the woman. "I just.... I think something is going to work. It feels like I've got it in hand."
Varia nodded her head slowly, as though she understood. "You sound crazy when you talk like that. You need more prepartion. I took the liberty of loading up a packet of tomes for you. Something for the road, you might say. Should help to keep yourself alive."
Aaron smiled lightly at hearing what she'd done for him. "Thankyou, Varia. It means a lot to me... I... think I should get an early start on the road today. I have a long way to travel." Aaron started to turn away, but Varia's voice drew his attention again.
"I wasn't actually finished, you know..... we're actually related. Some how.... I suppose that doesn't really matter you you right now though.Anyways, I've placed our Great Great something another's pauldron in your pack as well. It's better make than your current one, and will look better on you if nothing else."
Aaron turned and looked at her quizically. "We're related?" Varia nodded slowly.
"Why wait till now to say anything?"
Well, you're leaving, and I wanted you to know before you left. It's not in any meaningful way anyway....You should come back for a visit some time, Aaron, and say hello to your Grandfather for me.
"I will, Varia. Once I have the chance.... Listen.... I asked Saffra for help, and now I'm leaving. Would you let her know that I'm expecting her to catch up with me when she's able? And give the others well wishes from me.
"I suppose I can do that. If you want to make good time though, you should take one of the horses from my stables. There's a few in there that a novice like yourself could ride."
Aaron nodded to himself before shooting his gaze back over to the woman. He coughed slightly. How had she come to the conclusion, correct though it be, that he was a novice rider.
"Thankyou Varia, for everything.... I'm going to go now." And with that, he left, to late to hear her "Get out of here then." He moved quick now, throwing on the new shoulder plate when he reached the house, and grabbing his things without even looking at the new things. Before the sun was up, he was on horseback, headed south and east, to the city of Laus.

Zelphiam was grateful for the food and everything but he didn't want or plan on staying here with a bunch of strangers for very long. He wondered what Wein and Mana had planned for them. Would they stay another night or would they start moving? Why did Zelphiam get the strange feeling that the person that had came to the door was someone he knew?
He couldn't sleep he was to anxious he wanted to train he wanted to move! All during the night he just stared at the ceiling above him wondering what Calnith and his father were up to and how his mother was doing.
"I can't travel with them anymore," Zelphiam said to himself as he sat upward in his bed leaned up against the bed rest in the middle of the night. He got on his regular clothing and then wrote a letter explaining how he had some business to take care of and traveling with them would be pointless. He also wrote how he would meet up with them again and duel Mana.
"Now to get moving," The young myrmidon said as he strapped his sword's hilt to his waist and the headed out of the house in the middle of the night.

Xavier saddled his horse, Ralph and started riding off into the distance. The night had been uneventful, except for a time when Xavier had to use his staff to aid the young swordswoman who had gotten herself drunk unknowingly. She seemed to feel better after it, but still sought to get a breath of fresh air outside the house. The morning had been uneventful, too, except for the fact that Xavier found out that almost everyone had left and gone on their own paths halfway through the night. Even the mage, Aaron, had gone off in the night. He was supposedly too anxious about his friend and had left without Xavier, only leaving behind a message for the winged woman that was with him. What an irresponsible guy! And now Xavier would not be able to learn much more of any sort of magic. Worst still, Xavier now found himself alone in a country horribly far away from where his home was, that is, if he was ever to find out how to find his own village again. Making up his mind, Xavier led Ralph on, letting him gallop on, hopefully leading Xavier to someone else who would at least be able to help Xavier out in his predicament. OoC: This marks Xavier's leave of the thread. He will be in Reminiscence now.

Yaen nodded. "Thank you, Lady Varia." he replied with a polite bow. When the lady took her leave, he set about returning his swords to his person. There was little to do in this room, so he decided he would go into the dining room. Maybe the other guests would be good conversation.
Yaen opened the door to the dining room, and his jaw almost dropped. "Wein? Mana?" he gawked, looking around. "...Lady Saffra!?" The Swordmaster looked like he'd been smacked in the face with a raw trout. He looked stunned at first. Then he laughed. What else could he do. "Of all the odds!" he laughed, shaking his head. "It looks as though the Spirits are being kind to me. I set out looking for one familiar face, and here I find three!"
