It made her feel even more like an ungrateful moron that Hal was still trying to be as understanding and helpful as possible, but Elesia couldn't say that she - disliked it, exactly. Sure as hell didn't understand it, but maybe that was okay. For the time being, anyways. Yet more layers to social interaction she couldn't comprehend, but their very existence intrigued her further. He didn't get anything material out of helping her, and she didn't think that he thought he would, and yet here he was being nice anyways.
An awkward smile grew over her face slowly as she took his hand in both of hers, pressing it between them as though he'd pull it away. Toothy, sideways - it wasn't the look of an experienced, worldly woman, but a vulnerable girl who could only dimly comprehend the world around her. "T-thank you. I'm not very good with - people." It was a colossal understatement, to put things as lightly as possible, but it was also an admission of weakness and a feeble attempt to keep the conversation going while she ransacked her mind for ideas on what to suggest next. "What did you want to do here? Or... should we just walk?"

"We'll just walk around for a little bit then." The two had started to make their way around the festival, Hal kept his pace where he almost had his hand at his side to keep Elesia close by. He would steer away if there was a crowd, passing by the farm animals at the 'petting zoo' reminded him of his last job. He was happy to be away from there.
Unknowing to the festival goers a small group had slowly shuffled towards the gates. "HALT!" Demanded one of the guards, something seemed wrong about this group. He heard what sounded like groans, he lowered his head a little to get a better look of the leader of the pack. As he got a better look an overwhelming stench reached his nose. "Wh-what the..."
Both men became overcome by fear, they realized these were not living people but monsters. With skin as gray as stones, flesh that looked like it had been ripped off from various places of their exposed bodies, what clothing they had wore was shredded, most of the fingers had no flesh and the bones had looked like they had been ground down giving the appearance of claws.
The guard on the right took a step forward swinging his sword at the creature, catching him in the jaw he only succeeded on removing it's lower jaw and with a lunge forward the undead reached for the mans face ripping off skin along with tearing out his left eye with it's claws. The man screeched in agony as his partner stood their watching.
The first guard had been swarmed with the foul creatures as the other trembled in fear. "G-God d-d-amn le-le-legs wo-rk. HE-...HEL-" before he could finish his cries for help the remaining zombies had swarmed him, biting and ripping flesh from his body. With most of the village attending the festival their screams of pain was drowned out by laughter, music, and banter of the crowd.

It bothered her somewhat to see the animals caged up - it wasn't a new concept to Elesia, exactly, but the sordid condition of the enslaved creatures was a bleak reminder of what humans did to amuse themselves. It didn't help that she had been made uncomfortably aware in the past that she would have made for a fitting circus attraction - see the wild child rage within the iron bars, humanity overwritten entirely by bestial instincts! Throw food at it to watch the devil-child devour it like an animal!
That had been one of the more jarring experiences in her integration to society, one that Elesia was quite pleased to have avoided. Sort of. She was quite alright with Hal deciding not to stop by, shrinking closer to him in the vicinity and only emerging when they were well past the group. It was as much a gesture of relief as finding something more interesting to investigate, though, a curiously rank stench that seemed oddly familiar and yet alien all at once. She could only barely make it out from the cavalcade of aromas, sweet and sour, rotten and fresh, that polluted the fair in its entirety, suffusing everything with an all too human stench that drowned out or devoured new smells.
This one snaked around the undersides of the others, though, mingling with the rotted foods and human excrement to the point that she could barely recognize it as a separate smell - but there was a subtle hint of magic to it, the scent of something unearthly that jogged her flailing attention just enough to present itself as an issue. Elesia stopped abruptly, the festival around her forgotten entirely as she attempted - and failed - to locate the smell, her nose overwhelmed by the myriad other smells. She wasn't even sure why it bugged her that muc, but tugged Hal's arm nonetheless to alert him to her sudden stop, the wondrous, enraptured look on her face from earlier replaced with blunt seriousness and a hint of worry.
"Do you - smell that? Something strange." She stumbled over her words, faced with the unsurmountable challenge of expressing primal sensations of smell in coherent, understandable phrasing in a language she was still somewhat unfamiliar with. "Sweet? Rotten. ...Oddly familiar. New smell? I think." Questioning and lilting, statements and queries mixed together in one. "Magic, too. Maybe? ...Not natural." That was what bothered her the most - there was something to the smell that reeked of... something not of this world. She wasn't really sure what, or why it was so curiously familiar. It was on the tip of her tongue, Elesia goddamn well knew it, but what?

Hal almost didn't pay any attention to Elesia for a second, then he felt the tug on his arm, turning back to be met with a question. "I... Don't smell anything... At least that isn't different than foods being cooked." Hal had raised his left eyebrow towards the girl. Now she claims it smells magic, he never knew magic had a smell. "Wha... What do you mean....?" Now the boy was confused.
After the creatures were done with the guards, who had large patches of skin that was ripped off, chunks of their body tore out by jagged teeth laying in a pool of their own blood. One of the undead started to let out a shriek only to be turned into a gurgle as blood flowed from it's mouth. They had began their swaying, shuffling, limping march once again, this time towards the festival.
As one woman saw the bloody abomination descending into their once peaceful village she let out a scream loud enough to wake more of the creatures. No sooner than she had pointed others had noticed the walking dead, pure panic had started to take over the crowd. Hal had turned to see what created the chaos to see one of the monsters shifting it's body with it's claw being swung at a woman's face, catching her on the right side ripping threw the flesh with ease.
Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap, OH CRAP! Hal was quickly overcame by fear, a part of him wanted to take Elesia and run then the other wanted to protect others. He had froze in place with a look of shock as the monsters moved about in the crowd, he had started to tremble as one turned it's glazed over eyes in his direction and shuffled towards him. "Hey kid, catch!" some man tossed an iron lance to Hal, who barely caught it before it smacked him in the face.
Now he was on the verge of shaking violently, he held the lance near then end and thrust it into the chest cavity of the... thing. Normally a human would be in serious pain, not this thing. It only slowed it a bit, reaching out for Hal it swung it's claws violently as it inched the lance deeper into itself to make it to Hal. "El...El...Elesia... Run..." He was more worried about the girl's safety than his own.

It was a testament to how woefully unprepared she had been for the very concept of being attacked by zombies that Elesia didn't even consider how she might look, arms hanging slackly at her side with jaw hanging open, just staring at the creatures. That was the smell! Sickly sweet, rotten and dead and alive all at once. "Whuh?" It didn't make any sense - things were alive or dead or on the border of transitioning from one to the other. That was how the world worked. You couldn't be... both at once. It didn't make sense intellectually or emotionally, but apparently no one had bothered mentioning that to these things. Once human, but no longer so. Unless humans in general had clawed hands that could rip people's faces off, and Elesia was reasonably certain that she would have noticed anything that handy while trying to wrestle bears in the past. She had thought that she had learned to respect, rather than fear. Bears, winter, magic, hunters - all could kill, but rather than fear, it was smarter to respect them, learn their patterns, and avoid trouble. These things - Elesia had no idea what nature of creature they even were, only that they were killing everyone in sight. Horribly. Soul's story suddenly came to mind in lurid synchronization, her mention of the living dead tearing through the caravan. The smell was the same; like it or not, she was rapidly coming to the conclusion that Soul had not actually been full of crap. Having cut through the initial line of festival-goers, the undead horde - a small part of her offhandedly mentioned that there really weren't that many of them but she was too busy edging the line of panic to bother with that - was scything its way through the main mass, killing and flaying people with reckless abandon with surprising speed for their shuffling movements. It was deceptive, they seemed to move slowly save for short bursts of uncanny speed, awkward as it was. Unnatural. A flickering wisp of light sprang into existence in the palm of her hand as Hal moved into combat, her survival instincts kicking in as she realized the need. Regardless of whether they were alive or dead or even killable on principle, they needed to be stilled before they did the same to her and Hal. And if Hal was going to man up, she had to too. <BATTLE MUSIC STARTS>"NUH!"Flint met tinder, magic clashing against magic as the spark ignited into a seething morass of heat and flame. Without any particularly good ideas on what vulnerable points a walking dead person might have, Elesia opted to jam the fireball into the gaping maw long since opened in the creature's chest cavity with a - she thought - fierce battle cry. It detonated without further ado, sending her tumbling back as the creature's body became a makeshift furnace, fire scorching within in a rising eruption. Its eyeballs sizzled and burned before bits of flame jetted from every orifice in its skull, pausing its movement. ...She could only hope permanently. "...Is it, um... dead?"There were more, though, and Elesia was not keen to stand anywhere close to that one, even still impaled on Hal's spear. If it came back from the dead once, who was to say it wouldn't do it again? Another stuttering spark appeared in her right hand as she drew back, crouching low to prime her reactions. As confusing and alien as this fight was, the concept of fighting for her life was not new - and she had been conditioned for that for everything she could remember in life. At least the adrenaline was steadying her, dulling the fear and fueling her senses; when Elesia spoke again her voice was steadier, still possessed of a slight quiver but serious. "We need to - to fight together, so we can survive."

Hal had been trying to throw the zombie to the ground with little success on moving it, for something dead it was strong. Before he realized what was happening Elesia had darted past him and attacked it, creating a small explosion within the creature. He was barely able to stand the smell then when it exploded the smell of burning rotten flesh was too much for the boy. He started to cough gasping for clean air before falling to his knees and vomiting. He was barely able to make out what Elesia had said.
He preferred high tailing it out of town but he was unsure how many of these things were outside of town. He wiped the vomit from his lower lip and stumbled back to his feet. His nerves had calmed a bit, his shaking had reduced to a slight tremble. Hal sighed as he lifted the lance and held it close to him. "O....Okay... Ju....Jus...Just st...stay next to me..." He looked over the crowd, he saw some guards avoiding their death and holding off one or two of the zombies. Then there was one who had it's teeth sunk into a man's neck, Hal found his target.
He lowered the sharp end of the staff towards the zombie, he took a deep breath then took off running towards the monster. When Hal walked into the town he never figured by the end of the day he'd be fighting against the living dead. Where has this strange event been taking place? Has it reached home yet? He'd have to make sure he survived this day to find out in the future. His lance had met the lower left side of the zombie's back, he was calmer this time and attempted to throw it to the ground.
Either some of his strength returned to him or him catching it off guard he was able to ground the monster, it hit with a grunt. As it attempted to crawl towards it's attacker Hal jabbed it in it's upper back, after he pulled the lance out it started to reach for his legs Hal started to panic, why wouldn't it just die? He drove the flat end of the lance into it's hand as he backed up.

-And what had begun as isolated murders was rapidly dissolving in a complete massacre, the creatures shrugging off most feeble blows to savagely rend anyone unfortunate enough to be in the vicinity. The air fairly vibrated with screams, agony and horror entwined as victims watched their internal organs spill out and loved ones hit the ground before them. The response by the village guard was commendable, but ultimately ineffective - they were holding their own in small groups, but anyone who broke off on their own to attempt a rescue was quickly terminated with extreme prejudice by the creatures.
The crowd was thinning, but still thick enough to obscure the movements of the zombies; given how many people had been drenched in blood already it was hard to tell who was alive and who was undead.
Another burst of gore erupted nearby, a sheen of blood and entrails splattering her as one of the creatures neatly rammed a clawed hand through a human's rib cage and tore its way out from the side. Elesia's spell fizzled, her focus completely unprepared to deal with the sudden intrusion, but the heat returned an instant later as magic sparked another inferno in her palm. She might not be experienced in combat, but stress was something she was all too used to handling, and blood was a common sight in the life she had led. This wasn't exactly her element, but if she thought of them as - things, not people, she could do this.
The flames licked at her hand, scalding the fresh blood off of them, only the thick sheath of another current of magic keeping her flesh safe from the heat. Fire magic was offensive magic at its purest; raw destruction, multiple currents of raw aether clashing in constant chaos; fire formed from the friction and heat as nearby air combusted. Violent and uncontained - but then all magic was about control, of molding the sheer energy into something useful rather than watching it explode in your face, and that was something she had plenty of practice with.
The savaged corpse fell limply to the ground, sliding off the abomination's outstretched arm; it moaned and charged, moving again with that curiously unpredictable movement, shuffling one moment and moving with unearthly speed the next. A neat parlor trick, to be sure, but Elesia realized a moment later that it provided a much more pressing issue - it made the process of actually aiming exceedingly difficult. She wasn't given much time to ponder the dilemma before the beast was upon her, forcing a semi-graceful, semi-panicked hop backwards with one hand raised protectively before her.
It continued onwards, bringing its arm down with terrible purpose, movement she barely avoided with a graceless pirouette of sorts - finishing the motion by driving the ball fof fire into the creature's midsection. It snorted, almost mockingly, and backhanded her a dozen feet away. Elesia managed to land on her feet, but the world was curiously blurry around her, a shifting kaleidoscope of color and sound that had been solid a moment ago. Also, it hurt like hell. She opted to blink sagely, repeating the response several times in a vain attempt to make everything stand still. No luck.
She opted for more fire.
Any sort of ranged magic whatsoever was decidedly out of the picture, but channeling magic was simple enough - or at least practiced enough - that she was reasonably confident in her ability to not set herself on fire. Confident enough to light both hands on fire. Or - conjure two balls of fire. It was a little hard to tell; she blamed the uncertainty on nerves. Her new friend was entirely unconcerned with the issue, opting to make his appearance in properly blood fashion. She responded by punching him in the face with a fireball, which - also didn't have a lot of effect in terms of killing the thing, but certainly didn't do much good for what remained of its eyesight. The eyeballs boiled in what was rapidly becoming a rote display, but Elesia didn't really have any better ideas on how to blind them; fire to the face would interfere with smell as well as sight.
It worked well enough for her to cautiously walk around the flailing creature and set it on fire again, at least. Now she was stuck with a murderous monstrosity that was covered in blood, homicidal, and wanted to give her fire hugs.
"...Hal? Ideas on - how to kill?"

Hal kept backing up as the zombie he attacked kept it's crawling pursuit of the boy, why wouldn't it just die already? Having the business end of a lance in the chest did nothing but slow the first one, was there weak point on these things? Before he knew it an arrow had pierced the creature's left side of it's head, pinning it to the ground. With a long slow groan it stopped it's chase. Hal heard a girl's squeal of excitement of hitting her target shortly after followed by scream of pain.
There was no time to celebrate anything with this hell on Elibe attacking. He had thought he told Elesia to stay next to him, she wasn't there and he started to panic. As he started to search for her in the bloody massacre everything started to sink in. The attackers were human, or once human. What had caused this change in them? If they were some type of mutated human why where they attacking innocent people? There was two ways he knew how to kill them, from watching others do so. Burn them from the inside out, which he had no ability to do so and maybe impale their brain?
He had witnessed Elesia get backhanded by one of the zombies across the courtyard, Hal's blood had began to boil. He had promised to protect her from anything and there she was getting slapped around, the self hatred could wait he needed to help her. She had started to burn the thing... alive? as he made it half-way across the courtyard when he was intercepted by one of the zombie. He had almost lost his balance as he came to a sudden stop and tried to back up, it's claws had drug across his right check, blood started to flow from the scratch. "Ok-ay... Time to... to te-st that theory."
Both Hal and the zombie had made an attack at the same moment, both thrusting their weapon at their enemy, the creature being much faster than Hal was able to dig it's claws into his right shoulder mere seconds before the lance made it's way into it's head. The undead's body had fell to the ground completely limp, dragging Hal with it. The claws had been lodged into him pretty decently, once on the ground Hal pulled himself away from the bloody claws, letting out a cry in pain as he did so. He laid there for a second holding the wound, along with the urge to cry. He couldn't hold back the tears any longer, they started to flow as the blood did from both his wounds.

And back in the inn, Soul was asleep, as the festival went on, and unexpected stuff happened. How wonderful.
Of course one can't really say she was 'sleeping' peacefully. She was going through an awful nightmare... thinking of those things. Those vile, deformed creatures, chasing her with those sharp, ugly claws. Blood oozing out of their mouths, their eyeballs protruding out, hanging out of the socket, the tongues lashing about, and alongside these grotesque creatures, wolves, themselves deformed, chasing her.
But soon she reached a dead end and she gave in. Well not really. At first she tried casting light spells, but there were just too many. The finally vaught up to her, their claws easily scraping flesh out of her abdomen, and all she could hear was a deafening scream. A weird shriek... sounded inhumane alright.
Soul awoke with a start. Her heart beat fast as she looked around the room, panicky after that dream she experienced. She sighed, relieved it was just a dream, and yet... this place did not feel right. This was Lycia, wasn't it? Just another country. How could it be a land for these... abominations? The dead coming back to life, just to kill... it was madness!!!
She looked ot of the window as she started hearing screams. No, it couldn't be!! It wasn't those creatures, it just couldn't be!! Those... filthy things! Soul bit her lip as she saw the horror of one of the undead pouncing upon another human. This was unreal! Soul... had to get out of here! It was now or never!! She had to escape to live another day... even if life was a pain itself, she feared... she'd become one of them.
She took her lightning spell book and her vulnerary. She noticed another piece of bread lying next to her bread. Well, she needed food to survive, and she'd have to take whatever she needed. Putting these into her sack, except for the spell book, which she most likely would require, she sped down the stairs, and out of the inn, which was pretty empty as is.
The first thing that met her eyes... was an undead running towards her.

As it turned out, flames eventually won out over flammable. Its lungs already baked by the intense heat, the creature sank to the ground with a grating, hateful hissing. Her head still hurting like hell, Elesia backed off a few steps, staring at the charred corpse with equal parts awe and disbelief. She had permitted herself to get her hopes up when the first went down so easily, but to be forced to spend so much time with one on equal grounds was - depressing. And painful. The world around her still seemed slightly out of sync, sounds dulled, butterflies at the edges of her vision. It didn't exactly hurt so much as the absence of pain outside of a dull throbbing left her to imagine how much it hurt.
A dull cry caught her attention hrough familiarity, snapping Elesia back into reality just in time to realize that oh god it hurt why was everything fuzzy, an overload of data assaulting her senses all at once as her mind struggled to catch up with the suddenly-present sights and sounds of the world around her. What had been a dull ribbon of irrelevance was suddenly a vivid panorama of screams and color and pain, the first realization that she was still alive accompanied by a dull realization that at some point she had sunk to her knees somewhere during the proceedings.
She pushed herself aloft, reveling for a moment in the soreness as proof of her existence, that she was still alive. And hurting. A lot. But that had been Hal's voice, and she couldn't leave him alone. "Not... yet." It came out a grating whisper that barely even reached her own ears, and not even Elesia knew whether it was that she couldn't give up yet or couldn't leave him alone yet, but the truth of those two words bolstered her resolve. Hopping up proved to be a very poor idea, the sudden rush of blood back to her head leaving her even dizzier for a moment, but seeing Hal in a puddle on the floor was enough to draw her over in a loping hobble. "Hal?" He was alive, that much was obvious - and good - but not exactly in good condition. That was not as good.
Also there were more zombies coming.
Elesia crouched down, baring her teeth at the two shambling beasts approaching, growling inhumanly. She still didn't have any idea what had caused this, but these goddamn things had completely ruined her and Hal's respective days alike. The consuming flames flickered to life in each hand once more, two protean spheres of hatred and light that danced and strained against the invisible magical bonds holding them in coherent form. It didn't matter if she was underpowered and outnumbered - she would hold the line.

Elesia was near, that much he knew. His shoulder had left him in a small pool of his own blood, he could feel the blood from his cheek slowly trickling down his fair turning his blue hair a shade of red. He had stopped crying, for now at least, and wiped the remaining tears from his eyes. He had to keep fighting, or at the least try. He rolled to his left side propping himself up with his left hand, after getting to his knees he reached for the lance and looked towards Elesia.
He saw her get ready to attack two of them. "Elesia... No..." He mumbled, the two were barely able to take one on without a scratch. As soon as they tried to fight one alone they both receive injury of some sorts and she wanted to fight two. It had hurt to move his right shoulder but he was going to have to take the pain if he was going to defend Elesia. Grunting in pain as he took the end of the lance in the right hand he stood near Elesia.
"Don't... Do any...thing stupid... for me." His breathing had become heavier as he tried dealing with the pain. "If you.. need to... run and hide..." He was unsure if he should charge in the best he could or wait for Elesia's lead. He had started swaying, if he tried to run he was sure he'd end up on the ground. For his sake he had hoped Elesia wouldn't run away and wait for the pair of monsters to come to them.

The cacophony of screams had dulled to a mere shadow of its former self, everyone who could flee having already done so, while those who could not now lay in pools of blood, their own mingling with that of others. The dead were everywhere, both those lying in restful repose, their faces frozen eternally in agony and horror, and those who apparently hadn't realized they were supposed to stop moving. Three guards remained, all that remained of the town guard in the vicinity. Possibly in the town. Elesia didn't want to consider that possibility, but the lack of screams elsewhere suggested that the aberrations had either already slaughtered everyone else in the town, or had unanimously gathered here, hunting some unknown target.
It was refreshing to see survivors at all, but the remaining guardsmen were trapped, arrayed in a defensible starburst formation but unable to break that formation to come help - they were holding off more than their share of zombies, but the defense was tenuous, fleeting; hemmed from all sides, it was only a matter of time before one slipped on the copious quantity of gore on the ground, granting an opening to begin the slaughter.
She had bigger things to worry about, though. Two of them. The fire in her left hand abruptly dissolved into flickers of light that burnt into nothingness, necessary for her tentative gesture; her hand still unnaturally warm, she rested it on Hal's shoulder, trying to show - something. Cameradie, maybe. Perhaps she was just trying to make it clear that she wasn't going to run. Empathy meant little when one could ill categorize their own emotions or respond appropropriately to another's, but her companion's bravery in the face of fear demanded that she stand at his side. Also, less courageously, she had no idea what to do if he died and would be very lost in a dead town. "I w-won't leave you, but we n-need to work together."
Her words still possessed that awkward, halting flow that marked so many of her interactions with others, but there was a diamond-hard determination behind them. She would be curious about what the hell these things were later, during the dissection, but right now they needed to survive, and the creatures were closing in quickly. "I can't hurt them enough from - outside. If you can make openings, I, uh, might be able to set them on fire from inside again." Elesia was a little fuzzy on how exactly he was supposed to open a huge gaping wound large enough to jam her hand in with just a spear, but her plan was a work in progress, so it didn't have to be flawless just yet. "Can you fight enough to d-do that for me?"

Hal didn't realize Elesia had placed her hand on his shoulder or even heard her talking tell she was done, he didn't feel a tug so he figured the were going to stay and fight. He wasn't able to grasp what was going on anymore, it was like everything was moving in slow motion around him. He started to slouch as he stood there waiting for impending death to attack.
The creatures had moved somewhat slowly but this time as he blinked it was almost upon him, if he was to survive this attack he would need to make the first strike. What he thought was a thrust of his lance was more of a stumble forward and his lance slashing into the right shoulder of the monster before he landed on his face. The crash landing had caused a slight nose bleed. His shaking had return as he had rolled on his back. "Elesia...." he said in terror as he saw the creature lurching towards the easy pray. Raising his lance he the zombie walked right into the tip, remains of it's foul blood oozed from the hole in it's stomach.

-Which was right about the point in time where Elesia clotheslined the zombie, not really having any better ideas on the subject. "NUH!" The impact hurt like hell; being able to set her hands on fire was generally significantly more useful when she was able to move said hands away from the detonation within a reasonable timeframe, rather than driving them further into a solid object. Still, the combined force of her fist and the detonation of a Fire spell served to take the zombie off its feet entirely, dropping to the ground like a puppet with its strings cut. It hit with an audible crack, the back of its skull fracturing on impact, but short of being obviously jarred, the damage appeared mostly superficial. How the hell were the stupid things so hard?
Uninterested in giving her time to think about the matter, the exquisite sensation of claws raking along - and through - her flesh alerted her slightly late to the fact that oh, hey, the other zombie was still there, and WOW that hurt. Elesia crumpling to the ground with a sudden gasp was as was much an instinctual decision to provide a moving target as sheer shock and pain overriding her motor functions for an instant, though she heard the dulled sound of something parting the air above her to helpfully inform her that, yes, the zombie was still there, and yes, it was still trying to kill her.
She opted to go for a roll, even if it turned out to aggravate her wound by a lot and hurt approximately as much as it bled, which was to say a lot. What had been planned as a daring, decisive roll to re-establish combat advantage quickly dissolved into a boneless lump haphazardly falling over itself, a squeak of pain escaping her before she could clear her mind to think straight. Pain was nothing new to her, but there was a lot of it and she kind of wanted to sleep. Wanted to. Couldn't. Not with Hal worse off than her. Elesia rose with as much dignity and grace as she could muster, which translated to staggering upright and hoping that she didn't get decapitated in the process.
It was uniquely painful to her self-esteem that her nigh-slayer was already wandering off towards the still-fighting guards, apparently having decided that she was either already dead or no longer a threat. She licked her lips, tasting the foul stench of death wafting through the air once more, and charged.
The creature bucked suddenly as a hundred-odd pounds of banshee from hell landed on its back with an inarticulate yell, both hands aflame in a raging storm of fire. That she was holding on by wrapping her legs around its midsection, pinning its arms to its sides in the process, was as much good luck for her as any sort of coherent plan - but Elesia was long beyond trying to strategize. "If you're so hungry, then EAT!"
That was about when she jammed both Fire spells together while forcing them into the creature's mouth.
In retrospect, she probably should have expected its head to explode, and yes, there was enough force directed at her to send her flying, and yeah that was going to hurt in the morning oh hey there was the ground coming fas-

No sooner than Hal screamed Elesia's name she was pounding on the zombie that impaled itself on his lance. He was lucky she was so quick, he wasn't sure why but it seemed like the creature's speed increased ten fold but then again she seemed even faster now. After watching her knock one down with her bare hands he noticed another approaching her, "BEHIND YOU!" It was too late, by time he said something she hit the ground. He began to get back to his feet, he stopped once he was knelling down to catch his breath. Could he stand on his feet once again? It felt like he was wearing a suit of armor, getting to this point took a lot of effort.
He then started his run towards the girl as he stood up hoping he could make it to her before she hit the ground once again. For what seemed like the first time today he did something right, he wrapped his arms around the girl's waist as he pseudo-caught her. Elesia's momentum was greater than Hal's, she rammed into his chest and sent him backwards as well. "Hmph" The two landed with a thud, Hal's body was at least softer than the ground or he hoped.
High in the air a wyvern had been looking for a meal, it had spotted a decent sized sheep in the middle of the chaos. It was too hungry to care if humans were around or not, he needed to eat. In the middle of the beast's dive he witness a zombie, for what ever reason it wanted sheep, sink it's nasty excuse for teeth in it's neck. But it was MY meal according to the wyvern, it kept it's dive but changed it's target to the thief. The winged lizard had started to fly upwards as it nabbed the offender in it's leg and dropped it from a distance. The fall was just the start, as the zombie hit the ground the wyvern landed atop of it slashing at it with talons and ripping away at what was left of it's decaying flesh. It let out a low growl as a second zombie started to approach it, hovering in the air out of it's reach the wyvern studied the monster.
