"You're right, we'll just both have to do our best." Ralph replied, sticking up his thumb.
So, Elias had noticed Ralph's movements. "I think someone is watching us..." he said, resting his hand on his sword. It really could just be the wind, but Ralph had learned a lot about hearing without sight. "I don't know how far away they are, or how many. I can just faintly hear something like unnatural movements. Perhaps I am being paranoid and it is just a wolf..."
Ralph didn't think something like a wolf would make Elias more paranoid, would it?

"Hrm? This is a pretty big country, it could just be some travelers. I mean, I don't think they hoard and purify all their rambunctious teenagers with attitude who just have to travel the world. Oddly enough, of all the places I've visited, Etruria has the LEAST bandits. It seems even bandits don't exactly love this place, or they get routed and destroyed. Maybe the gathered them all and just dumped them off on some poor country, maybe Ilia oh goodness there's so many bandits there. I once fought an entire fort of them, almost died too, the only reason I lived is because I caused the building to collapse on them." He mused for a moment, before realizing that, once again, he was rambling.
"Oh, erm, sorry. That wasn't on purpose. Anyways, I don't think we need to worry about them. Not everything in the world is out to kill us." Quickly he caught his self with a small laugh. Looking around, he didn't see anything out of the ordinary. His ears weren't quite as attuned as his partner's, so he would just believe him for now. "But it never killed anyone to be cautious, so lets try not to be caught by surprise if it is indeed something untoward."

Wein shook his head, his hand on his brow to keep the sun out of his eyes. "Looks like travelers to me," he said nonchalantly, though the one traveler, the one clad in red, seemed anything but. An outfit like that? Good grief, all that red was screaming for attention. He looked like a walking target. An enemy could probably sink an arrow right into him at 700 paces. Good thing Wein had no aggression toward either of these people.
"Ho there!" said the Ostian, waving his hand in the air.

"Oh hey there!" Elias waved back with a grin. "I don't think bandits usually announce there presence, and definitely not so jovially. He also looks distinctly unwolflike. This is a good thing." He said a bit quieter, but grinning. He looked down at Ralph, but wasn't really quite sure why he did since it made no sense. He might of just wanted to know where he was, in case he had bolted off or something maybe.
He looked over to where he heard the voices and GEEZ how did he miss so much... blue. The man who was talking was wearing a lot of blue, another blue person stood next to him being all blue like. Hrm. Never been a fan of the color his self, but it seems many were. Oh well, atleast it's not green. He weighed the options in front of him a bit. On the one hand, this was Etruria and for the most part Etruria wasn't really a good place for travelers to be. They seemed... unwelcome to foreigners. While Elias could probably pass for Etruria, especially since he was a mage and Etruria was well known for mages, he wasn't so sure about his blind friend. He didn't want either of them to get into any trouble, especially since they just left a place that EXPLODED. It would be horrible if they just died before they sold the book rights.
On the other, it might pay to be friendly. They had nothing, well Elias had stuff that he'd be willing to share, but it wasn't much and not really suitable for a long journey. He wasn't expecting not returning home in a few hours, so he packed lightly. Thinking he could grab more food and supplies on the way out with his parents, who hopefully had fled and taken Vadim with them, so he traveled light so he wouldn't be bogged down in Ostia what with the zombies everywhere. A bad choice, in retrospect, BUT OH WELL. Stuff happens, especially to him, seriously. "Are you two travelling to town?" He asked, in a way that didn't made it vague as to whether he's from that town or not. "We're headed that way ourselves."

Ralph listened as the two people approached. They were a bit nearer now, so he was able to distinct two different sets of footwork. His hand never left his sheathed sword.
"Ho yourself," he replied to the first man, disdain on his voice. Ralph wasn't so quick to trust strangers in Etruria as Elias, this was the country that had invaded Ostia after all.
He turned aside to Elias, fearing to be overheard, "Do these two look trustworthy to you?" he asked as worry filled his heart. They could be people who had just done whatever happened to Ostia. There was no way of knowing what caused that sudden eruption. "Don't be so inviting, we just entered the country that likely caused whatever it was that befell Ostia."

"That's WHY I'm being inviting." He whispered out the side of his mouth, quietly but loud enough to be heard. "After all of that, we need to remain as inconspicuous and humanely possible. Chasing away people for no logical reason is not being very Etrurian." He explained his self. "I'm not saying we should just rip off our shirts and leave our backs exposed, be cautious, but try not to raise suspicion with paranoia." The fact of the matter was... they weren't any more suspcious then the next person. If they played their cards right, they could easily pass for just people in town. If these two were Etrurian, then it would be best not to let them think they were foreigners. Especially since these two looked... pretty strong. Strong enough to take Elias, no matter how beautifully red he was.
"They're both wearing blue, one has short black hair and the other long. The one on the right has Sacaen style clothing, and a blade at his hip. I think, it's a bit hard to tell. The other has a bow, if they were going to attack, they would of by now." He added, giving a run down of their descriptions. "Be on your guard, just in case, y'know."

Suddenly, Ralph heard a familiar sound, one he had not heard for a week now. The flapping of wings. "Caecus!" He exclaimed, his face suddenly bright. The falcon flew down and landed on his shoulder as it used to.
"Where have you been all of this time, Caecus? I could have used your help in Lycia..." Caecus tightened his grip on Ralph's shoulder, "What? You have a letter for me?"
Sure enough, Ralph felt at Caecus' leg to find a small piece of paper tied around it. He quickly pulled it off, thinking for a second. Bill would never send a letter, there was no way for Ralph to read them. "Hey, Elias, can you read this for me real quick?" he asked the crimson mage, now ignoring the newcomers.

Well this was awkward. "Just one moment sirs." He held up a finger and laughed nervously before turning to Ralph. What an odd time to be getting a letter. Ralph unfurled it, and then prompted thrusted it into Elias' hands. He would read it happily, but what kinda sadistic jerk sends a blind man a letter? It was just like, jerk. "Alright alright, lemme see here..."
"Dear Ralph Meglane," His last name is Meglane? Heh. That sounds funny.
"I trust you are doing well in your travels, Bill has told me about your trouble in Pherae. I thought that I would help you out a little, so I got a gift for you, come to the City of Heroes. Don't worry, your bird knows the way.
Sincerely, D. Karavalenge" He read like a pro! If there was anything Elias it was good at, it was being annoying. Still, reading things is probably somewhere in the top ten or something.
"Hrm, looks like you're being summoned there Ralph. I guess... I guess you're leaving early... huh?" He didn't have a reason to feel bad, but now Wyatt Vadim AND Ralph was gone. Leaving just him, Elias, again. This always happened, so it really shouldn't surprise him. Still... it was depressing. Alone again, Garnet, Mana, Razzle, Wyatt, and now Ralph. Ugh, now he was getting all mopey and sad, SCREW THAT. ELIAS BE HAPPY. "It's been nice traveling with you!" He grinned, handing the paper back. "I would like to say if you're ever in the neighborhood just drop by, but I don't really have a house. The closest thing I had to a home was just melted, actually. So, um, good travels then ya?" He scratched the back of his head, with a small grin, a small laugh. A small happiness.

As Elias read the message, Ralph's facial expression turned from surprise, to utter bliss. "W-W... The City of Heroes?! Mr. Karavalenge?!" he snatched the paper out of Elias' hands, holding it out himself, as if he could see it. "Do you know what this means, Elias? It has to be something about Matis, right?" he exclaimed.
"I... I have to go now! Thank you for the journey Elias, it would not have been as enjoyable without you." He shook Elias' hand, and ran off to where Caecus had started flying: the Northeast, to Sacae.

Wein scratched the back of his head as the red robed man and his friend, whom the Ostian assumed to be blind, had their little back and forth. The red man, whom Wein had deduced to be Elias, was very, uh, exuberant, while his partner, the blind one, didn't seem so excited to see new faces. Or rather, not see them.
"Do these two look trustworthy to you?"
The archer's mouth twisted in slight disdain, but remained silent. The red spectacled man had every right to be suspicious, but it didn't change the fact that Wein didn't like to be thought of as dangerous, and he especially didn't like to be accused of destroying his own homeland. But he shrugged off his apprehension. Oh well.
Elias blathered on a bit longer, going on about how inconspicuous they needed to be, and, ironically in doing so, was failing quite exquisitely. To be honest, if anything, the archer and the swordsman were being given plenty of reasons not to trust THESE men.
And then out of the blue, a falcon, whom the blind man called Caecus, flew in and alighted upon the roguish looking man's shoulder. Caecus huh? Funny. Was the falcon blind too?
The blond haired man, apparently named Ralph, untied a letter from the bird's leg and handed it to Elias so he could read it to him. Something about the City of Heroes and a man named Karavalenge. The City of Heroes...wasn't that the Sacaen city founded by Kenshin and Matis after the war? Explained why Ralph was so excited to be summoned there. So excited, in fact, that he said his goodbye and scampered off, just like that, leaving the red haired man high and dry.
"Hard to find loyal traveling companions these days, isn't it?" observed Wein, finally speaking up. "I hear you're Elias. The name's Wein. Wein of house Lowell of Ostia." The archer tipped his head before gesturing a hand towards Yaen. "And this is my partner, Yaen of the, er, Amaretsu tribe if I'm not mistaken."

((Good news, I'm healthy again!))
Yaen wasn't all together sure what to make of these two men. A man clad in a little too much bright red, and a man with red colored glasses.. And was that a hawk? Why yes, yes it was. And suddenly, the man with glasses just took off. just took off. A little taken back, Yaen remained silent while Wein talked. It was better that way, really. Yaen wasn't as good at talking to strangers as Wein was.
"And this is my partner, Yaen of the, er, Amaretsu tribe if I'm not mistaken."
"Actually, it's the Amasi, but I appreciate the effort." he replied. He wasn't offended, after all, he'd only told Wein his tribal name once, after all, and that had been well over a year ago. "Well met, sir." he greeted with a slight inclination of his head. This...Elias fellow was strange. He couldn't help but wonder if the man was retarded.

"Ugh, tell me about it." He groaned, rubbing the temples of his head in mild annoyance. He barely even said goodbye, in fact Elias got the real feeling that quite frankly he simply didn't care all that much. Still, with a sigh, the mounted mage turned his head. "Nice to meet you. I'm Elias, though I suppose you overheard that." Eavesdropping wasn't an honorable pastime, this man may perhaps be a villain. Or maybe Ralph made a much bigger scene then it felt, which is quite possible now that he thought of it... Actually that was probably it. Hrm.
"Ostia you say? Funny story there..." WAIT NO ELIAS STOP. "Um, nevermind. It's really not that funny now that I think about it." Telling a person his homeland just EXPLODED may not be the way you want to start a conversation, maybe he'll ease into it later with some casual talk about exploding pumpkins or something. "Like I said, I'm on the way to town. I would show you the way, if you want." Elias was an almighty crimson mage, but even he knew that a fight here wouldn't be good, they weren't bandits or anything. Or even half bandit, heck he would put money on the fact they weren't even one forth. They were like, main characters of a story that steam roll through crap, not random and mildly annoying fodder to just blast through. One of them was from Sacae, and the other was Ostian. That is way too unlikely a pair for it to be anything but. Yes, Elias was certain he'd get his butt kicked
Good thing he wasn't aiming for a fight.

Wein glanced at Yaen, before looking back to Elias. The man, although a bit odd, didn't seem to strike the Ostian as a villain, and thus Wein didn't see any real reason not to trust him. There were also two of them and only one of him, so if he did try and pull anything funny, the archer was pretty sure they could take the mage out. After all, they were mercenaries now. They had to be able to deal with danger.
"I don't see why not. Yaen and I aren't headed anywhere in particular. Just looking for work," replied Wein, shrugging. "I've been lost in the woods for the last couple of days. Happened upon a nice woman in the woods, met up with Yaen, but it would be nice to be back in a real town." The Ostian paused after speaking, chewing on his words. The story sounded a bit...funny coming out of his mouth, but he saw no harm in telling it. If the mounted mage was suspicious of them, perhaps a bit of relaxed conversation would ease any tensions between them.

Yaen was content to step back again and let Wein carry on with the conversation. The man in red was...odd. Eccentric. Insane. There was a word for it, he was sure. "A town does sound good." he confessed. Still, something bothered him. Moving closer to Wein, he put a hand up to the mans ear so he could whisper to him. "Can we trust this man? He doesn't seem to be quite right in the head."

"Lost in the woods?" For days? Wow these guys have no sense of direction, maybe they could use Elias' slightly tarnished map. Still the man on the horse shrugged. The horse craned it's head around, looking at the two men in an almost annoyed manner. If a horse could look annoyed, Elias was fairly certain it could. "Oh come on you big baby." He patted the horse on the head with a small smile. "A little company won't kill you." He joked, as he looked at the two men his self. They were whispering something, probably something about him, he was an extremely interesting individual after all.
