Wyatt was glad Mana was happy, but her question bothered him more then it should have. He had nothing against Sacaen's on principle... [red]"Well, I have nothing against your people in general. But some of the attitudes I've seen about Sacaen swordplay have irritated me."[/red] He spoke, answering her honestly. [red]"When I'd just started out on my adventure, I met a rather skilled Sacaen swordsman by Laus. He was really strong, and very capable with his blade. It was impressive to watch him, and for a while I really admired his skill. Now don't get me wrong, he was a nice guy too. Honorable, noble and all that stuff that would make for a fine warrior, but well..."[/red] He paused, unsure as to how he should tell the tale without sounding conceited. [red]"One day we had a discussion about weapons. He mentioned that using the sword was an 'art', while anyone who used another weapon was simply fighting. Now myself, yeah I'm not the most graceful when I am fighting, but I've seen some pretty sloppy sword fighters too. I've seen lance users with such grace and skill that it'd make your head spin. An archer that could knock a blade out of your hand from a hundred paces, firing through a crowd. To say that your weapon is the only one that can be more then a tool of war, that struck a nerve to me. I tried to explain that a weapon is just that, a weapon. It is the hand that wields it that makes it an art form or not...but Yaen wouldn't have any of it."[/red] He gestured to his hammer again. [red]"In combat, it may just be a tool of war. But when I smith, I pour my heart and soul into what I work on. I may be making things that could determine someones life and death. Even something as simple as a horse shoe could kill someone if it fails at the wrong time. I'd like to think that what I can do with that hammer is art, in it's own way."[/red] He shook his head, returning to her original question. [red]"I've met a few Sacaen's that think like that, but I guess that is just the mindset you are raised in. And while I don't like it, I don't think it makes the people as a whole bad and foolish. I just think many people don't see it from the perspective I do. Sacaen's are raised with swords in their hands, as you said. I'm just not used to someone with that specific of a focus."[/red] OOC: Felt like linking to it for a bit of context: wayofdawarrior.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=caelin&thread=2013&page=9#35352

Even Mana wouldn't agree with the swordman, she did honor and regard Sacaen swordplay as the best in Elibe. But to look down at other weapons as a mere tool? She never did that. In fact, she never really thought about that until Wyatt mentioned it. Mana listened to Wyatt as the blacksmith continued telling her about what that swordman said, he looked a bit angry.
Mana remembered something, an older swordman from her tribe ever told her something relevant to this topic. He said some people might have developed a fanatism to certain things especially if they had a strong culture planted in their backbone, which Sacaen did. Sacaen usually valued sword more than other countries, which had been the primary weapon for their warriors for centuries. Their swordmen skill was usually valued by other countries for the fast and unique fighting style which matched their pride and value of honor, a skilled Sacaen swordman would look like he was dancing with his blade in a battle.
"You know...I like it. Your words weren't wrong, but as you said..." she stated, trying not to lead this into a debate. "It's the way we grow up, taught and trained with sword to be a fine warrior so we wouldn't tarnish our tribe's name. I am not a blacksmith so I don't really understand how much you regard your hammer, but I believe it must be same with you, right? So, why we must bother about this?" she said. Yes, Mana hated to put too much thought about how someone like or dislike something. Even the matter about those Etrurians didn't make her bothered too much. They didn't like her because she was a Sacaen? They could try to kill her, she would fight back. It was simple for her.
The girl drew her sword and showed it to Wyatt. "You said that a Sacaen sword was a special-made for the owner. It's true, I too had a sword crafted only for me," she said. Well, this brought back memories. "But this sword isn't that sword, I lost it when I was taken by some bandits. I just happened to grab this one when I escaped. Did I cry when I lost mine? The answer is yes." Mana shrugged as she spoke. She never told anyone about this, because no one asked, and because she never wanted to talk about it before. Although still not sure why she was telling Wyatt this, she continued. "A bandit's sword...It isn't a good history, huh?" she said, chuckling. "It will never be able to replace my first sword. But, it too has its value and I will always honor it as my partner in combat."
"By the way...Did he you say...Yaen?" The world couldn't be that small, right? Riiight?

Wyatt listened to Mana speak with a bright smile. [red]"Exactly. A weapon we carry by our side is like a cherished friend."[/red] He felt at his waist for something that wasn't there, and his face fell for a moment. [red]"Hah...I just remembered that I gave my first real weapon to someone else during a fight a bit ago. I wonder if I'll ever see him again to get it back?"[/red]
He shrugged. [red]"In the end, it doesn't really matter that much. A weapon may be a friend, an ally and companion, but it is an object. A person is always more important. Given enough time, a weapon can be remade, but a life once gone..."[/red] He paused with a somber expression before a smile cracked his face. [red]"Gee, that was kind of philosophical."[/red] He said with a hearty laugh.
He layed his hands on her weapon as she recalled where it came from. [red]"We cannot control where we come from. Our birth is out of our hands, what we do with our lives is what is important. It's the same for a weapon. Where it came from, who forged it, doesn't matter. What matters is what you do with that tool. And somehow, I think you've done only good with that weapon. It's smith must be proud that you are revering his weapon so."[/red]
When she asked about Yaen he paused. [red]"Hmm? Yeah, a Sacaen Swordsman, used two swords and had some of the worst luck I'd ever seen. Did you know I once saw him face down a dragon? No kidding. He's got courage to spare, that's for sure."[/red] He then stopped, looking to her curiously. [red]"Wait...did you know him?"[/red] He asked, looking a bit confused.

Mana agreed with Wyatt, she then thought about what he said. She did revere her weapon very much, even if it wasn't her "special" sword. But maybe, maybe what she loved was the swordplay, not the sword itself. The girl always liked the sensation of crossing swords with another warrior.
1. Sacaen Swordman 2. Two swords 3. His name is Yaen
"Uh, I don't know what to say. Maybe the world is smaller than I think." Mana put a weird expression as she tried to make a smile. Small laugh escaped her lips as her brain received the unexpected information.
Of course she knew him. They met in a bar, in fight with some thugs, which continued to be an open war with some mercenaries. She remembered those times, when she met two travellers whose names were Wein and Yaen, an archer and a swordman. How Yaen fought that big guy still lingered in memory, she had to admit if that was an awesome fight. Both showed some qualities as a warrior, two different fighting styles clashed in an entertaining duel.
"I...I think so. Maybe he's the same Yaen I ever met before." Mana remembered how she met him for the first time, that time, she had been staring at him for a while before she decided to talk to him. Suddenly, she felt her cheeks become hot, she was reminded how shy she was when they made eye contact. After a long time not seeing another Sacaens, she could barely differ whether that feeling was actually a relief after meeting someone from the same country or love in first sight. Although she had to admit it, he was pretty handsome for her taste, and a strong swordman too, so she could possibly feel attracted to him, after all. Mana then shook her head and covered her reddening cheeks with her hands.
"What's wrong with me? I suddenly feel weird," she said, confused with herself. Mana was still inexperienced at this, she wasn't sure with what she really felt.

Mana had become really quite at his question. When he heard her comment on feeling odd, he looked towards her and stifled a laugh.
[red]"Oh hoh! I see you have met him."[/red] He remarked with a smile. [red]"You're acting just like my sister whenever she saw one of the village boys!"[/red] He exclaimed, the memory of his sister sending a pang through his heart, but he ignored it.
[red]"Look at how red you are!"[/red] He teased. [red]"Well, I hope we find him again. That should be a pretty funny meeting, just try not to get tongue tied, ok?"[/red] He added with a playful shove of her shoulder.
Wyatt stopped to consider it. In all honestly he'd never really felt anything like love before. He'd met plenty of girls he got along with...Lilith, Aevian, Chealsea, and now Mana. But the feeling was never anything special...maybe he was looking at things in the wrong way?
Or maybe he just hadn't met the right one yet. Either way, he liked the way he lived, no reason to change it.
[red]"All right!"[/red] He said, stamping his foot down. [red]"Sacae isn't gonna come to us, so let's make some good time before it gets dark!"[/red] He finished, starting off towards the east at a light job.
OOC: Feel free to finish the topic with your next post, I'll move us into Sacae.

Mana turned redder at Wyatt's comment, the blacksmith seemed to enjoy teasing her. It was his fault that Mana couldn't look him in eyes, it felt too much embarassing. Maybe she shouldn't have made that comment, after all. She got some weird smile when the image of Yaen's face passed her mind, giving her another jolt.
"It...It's not what you are thinking! Heey! Do you hear me?" But she only talked to Wyatt's back because the blacksmith had started walking toward the east, maybe he wasn't even listening. Mana shook her head and rubbed her hair. "Why did I say it anyway? And why did he know Yaen?" Mana screamed inside her head. The girl looked at him and then took a long breath, it was very effective for calming her. "I won't! And this is just...just... a fever, okay?" She shouted to him without bothering if he was listening or not.
Mana jogged to catch up with Wyatt who had already been a few steps ahead. For a second, she wanted to kick him from behind, but then decided not to. The girl grabbed his sleeve to catch his attention and said, "What I feel for him is just...an admiration for a swordman who stronger than me. There is nothing sort of...I like him," she said. The girl wouldn't stop trying to convince Wyatt about this. Well, this would be a looong trip toward Sacae.
OoC : Lets go to Sacae ^_^
