Dee was confused at this proclamation. This Vlamir guy... you don't bow to governors, you only bow to kings. Whatever, Dee didn't live here, so she had no such fealty to him.
Regardless of whether Dee bowed or not, she was short, there was no denying that. And she was behind a bunch of huge people, so she wouldn't even be noticed.
That's how it worked, right? Your allegiance was to your own country alone. Although, with Ostia gone, she didn't really have a home. Maybe politics really were worth studying in this kind of situation.
She whispered to Sabin, [white]"Why is the governor greeting the ship?"[/white] It was a little curious. You'd think that he would have something better to do.

He wasn't really sure what was going on in this situation. He wasn't expecting this, and something dirty in the back of his mind snarled like a serpent reminding him to chew out a certain someone later. "Try not to cause problems." He whispered quietly, almost pleading. He just wanted to get through this so he can get to Etruria as fast as possible.
He affected a happy smile, and took a step forward. He was entirely sure no one else would, seeing as this whole group was fulled of... well this group. Not that it was an insult, mind you, it was sometimes preferable to the double talking nobles for whom he used to work. But to put it quite simply, they were all incredibly idiotic when it came to politics. They didn't have the same set of rules, every word and action carried a thousand times more weight, acting improper can easily be seen as an insult, and an insult can be seen as assisted suicide under the right circumstances. Call Kraft a fool right to his face, just try it. People with power love to use it for their petty wants, Roland was no different mind you, but he lacked power.
An entourage and announcement of his presence, the pure tackiness and sheer condescension just shook the entire ship more then any wave could. This was a man with some power, but felt his self so much more then what he was. That was pretty in character for most of Etruria's statemen.
Roland bowed graciously, deeply but not too deeply. So as to respect his position, but not insult his ego or show his inexperience which he clearly did not have. Back when he was a mercenary, he did underhanded work for many nobles, mostly non-combat work. Of course when you think of mercenary, you think of some brute with a blade thicker then their waist, but there is plenty of work for those who prefer clever solutions to hacking your way through all your problems. "Greeting your eminence." He spoke politely, raising up slowly. How he felt about the man was no matter, he needed to be polite if he was to even enter the islands. He didn't even need to swallow his pride, he sold that a long time ago, it's what got him this nice suit.

Sabin stared at the governor. So, this was the man in charge of the Western isles, huh? He didn't look so tough. " I bet this man would die if I just punched him in the gut. I don't even need to use a weapon on him." Sabin thought to himself. He had to restrict his urge, though. A bad move, and he'd end up with the fish.
Then he heard Dee asking him about the Governor. Oh how wonderful, another innocent question at a time like this! Sabin irritably answered, " I don't know Dee, but now's not a good time to ask!"
The Governor lit a cigarette and smoked on it, walking in slowly, with this weird air of cockiness around him. Sabin didn't like this man one bit, and if he could, he would show him a lesson proper. He just needed a right oppurtunity...
Sabin bowed against his will. He couldn't direspect this man even if he wanted to. He did well to hide his hatred though. He was pretty good at it, at least he thoguht so.
"Alright, soldiers, check them for any suspicious... characters. You know what to do." the governor gave orders as the thrity odd soldiers started moving to check around.
Sabin immediately grabbed Mel briskly and put her down. She was being a real pain, not just mentally, but physically too. He couldn't bend so well because of her, dammit. Sabin noticed a soldier coming up to them, and something with that body language didn't seem good about him.
"Hey you, hooden weirdo. Why the hell do you wear that? I wouldn't be doing that if I were you." one of the soldiers came up, threatening Mel.

Mel's brow rose at the odd Etrurian display of power as soldiers pooled onto the ship in perfect formation soon followed after by their master. The Governor did not look all that impressive to the lass, the average noble his head swelled so large that he had to have his whole crew of flouncing pretty boy servants. most probably had his position offered to him on a platter of gems.
She sighed watching the rest of her so called companions shy away from confrontation. It was a good enough reason for her and she consented to staying silent though not forgetting to kick Sabin once he had put her down. She stood right up beside him staying quiet until one of the solider walked up to her.
"Hey you, hooden weirdo. Why the hell do you wear that? I wouldn't be doing that if I were you."
Mel glared up at him as the solider pulled off her hood and immediately Mel retaliated. She dropped down and tripped him quickly straightening up to shove him over the edge the man letting out a scream.
Without any hesitation the rest of the soldiers surrounded her quickly binding her hands behind her back. "Freak" one hissed seeing her ears while Mel tested the knots. Might as well let them take her at this point, what riches would be where she would be imprisoned?
She hid her smirk as they marched her away thinking to her hidden lockpick, this would be as easy as swiping a pie from Dee/

One moment there was 30 soldiers on deck, then there was 29 and Mel is arrested. Vashnar just smacked himself in the head at what just happened and muttered "they just made a very grave mistake". After that whole situation taken care off, and the Governor happy to make an arrest, they were allowed to disembark. Really not caring if anyone wanted to or heard, he asked everyone (excluding Mel) "So I'm going into town to pick up some things, anyone want to come?"

This was... odd. Very odd. For the governor himself to show up just to do some silly persons check. One of the soldiers, a particularly sourpuss looking one was the one to pat down Roland and he shot a sour look with his sour face as he searched. The first order of interest was the short sword that was strapped to his waist. "Protection you know, pirates everywhere. Proved quite useful in these unmanned waters since we got attacked." He sounded ever so slightly condescending as he spoke, as the soldier probably knew they were attacked. First pirates, then the governor.... was there something on this ship? Roland was not informed of this, he'd have to look into it later. Especially considering what they were doing right now wasn't a governors job, but more suited for the port officials and customs managers. They weren't even off the ship yet, so whatever they were looking for... they didn't want it to get off.
Next he dug his hand into Roland's pocket, retrieving a bit of paper with words scribbled on it in nearly unreadable chicken scratch. It made him think for a moment, obviously they'd get no real useful info out of it, Roland was keen to cover his tracks, but it made him think more on just what it could be. His eyes narrowed ever so slight when heard the scuffling signaling Mel's arrest. Well well...
His eyes narrowed, his grin widened into a wry snarl. "You might want to fold it along the lines." The somewhat confused sailor complied, and was absolutely baffled at the end result. "FYI, it's the location of a black market salesmen. I'm smuggling goods." Promptly, perhaps too promptly for his tastes, the man apprehended Roland and tied his hands behind his back as well. One of the soldiers who had barreled inside during the checking, don't think no one saw you good sir, exited. He didn't seem to be holding anything, but the way he was walking it was like he was afraid he'd shatter.
He looked over Sabin, and gave him a small wink. Nodding his head over to his pocket, as if to tell him to check it. Surely enough if he did, he'd find a slip of paper in it that Roland stuck in there right before this whole thing began, but after Sabin was checked. He knew he was going to be incarcerated, by his own choice mind you, but he also knew he was going to get out surprisingly easy. He had a plan you see, he always had a plan. For every possibility. Still, he was going to chew a certain someone out later.
Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. This was on purpose, on this paper there's the address of several very talented forgers who should be able to make you a fake passport to get you into Etruria. If you want to wait, I'll meet up with you later at the address at the very bottom. I'm curious where this will lead. If I'm not there in three days, I'm probably gone, so don't worry about waiting any longer. And if you go on ahead without me? I'll understand, good luck in Etruria
Also you might want to pick up one of Elmine's manuscripts, you can get them really cheap in any store, the prophet says they must be made available in any market. It'll help you from revealing yourself.

Dee was not very surprised at Rabbit getting taken away by the soldiers. She was surprised about Red though, confused too.
Eventually the ship was cleared and all the soldiers returned into the city with two prisoners in tow. Now it was just her, Vashie, and Sabin. The port bustled with activity, now that the stuffiness of Etruria had left it. Although, it seemed to be a bit quieter than one might expect.
[white]"What- Vashie, we can't just leave them behind! As much as I would like to get some rest, we've gotta do something to help Rabbit and Red, right?"[/white] It came again, that feeling of helplessness. Things were going to turn sour fast, and Dee would be able to do nothing about it just because she was a child. [white]"I guess... if there's nothing we can do..."[/white] she sighed, looking to the ground.
It didn't sit right with her, leaving those people who had just helped them so much behind.

After seeing Roland ALSO get arrested, Vashnar just sighed again as he smacked himself in the forehead. I don't know who to feel sorry for; Mel and Roland, or the soldiers having to take care of them he thought as Dee then started to act small and can't do anything. Lightly punching Dee in the head again, Vashnar told her "Mel and Roland can take care of themselves, and I don't want to get chased out of here without some supplies. Also, didn't I tell you to stop giving me nicknames?" he grimly told her before acting cheerful and saying "Anyway, since you don't have anything to do, and Sabin probably wants to do something himself, you're coming with me on this trip" he told Dee before hoisting her on his shoulder and walking into town.

Sabin was then checked by the soldier, and he was forced to pay 200 gold. Well, he didn't want to, but he didn't see any chance in getting out of the ship without paying. As he was getting out, he saw Roland getting arrested, and Sabin suddenly felt a surge of rage in him. He needed to help Roland, he didn't even attack these soldiers like what Mel did, and yet they arrested him? He wanted to do something, but the situation seemed helpless.
Then the soldiers took everyone out, and in the confusion, Roland stashed a slip into Sabin's pocket, and Sabin knew it must've been some secret he was going to tell only to Sabin. After waiting for the soldiers to leave, Sabin took out the slip and read it... this was interesting, and exciting too. So, Roland too liked exciting, risky ventures, huh? Well, considering Roland's confidence, it would be a good idea to wait three days for Roland at his friend's place... perhaps those passports were worth it. After all, if they ever went to Etruria, they'd need them, especially someone like Sabin, who had an intimidating appearance as is.
"Vashnar, Dee, wait up!" Sabin said as he ran towards them. They looked so confident for strangers to the western isles, it wasn't even funny. With the Etrurians running about, they might get themselves arrested as well.
"Listen here! I don't mind buying supplies either Vashnar, and I think its best we did that now. Dee, don't worry about Mel and Roland, they'll make it out. In fact, I have a plan, and that will help us get into Etruria. I heard you've wanted to get there, right? So just stick with me. After all, I'd be your best bet for a guide in the Western Isles." Sabin said as he walked along side both of them.

Dee sighed as she was pulled up onto yet another person's shoulders. Did they have to do it so often? She could walk for herself... mostly. It wasn't so bad really, she was being treated like a princess even.
[white]"Oh, Etruria..? Did Jumbo... Joel, tell you that? I'm fine with staying in the Isles for a little while, I don't really have anywhere I'm going in particular."[/white] It was very unlikely she would meet her uncle in Etruria anyways, she had just said that so she could get to the libraries in Etruria.
Though after seeing the soldiers here, she wasn't sure if they would let her look through the books anymore. Etruria was her only lead right now, unless she found something else soon.
Dee poked Vashie on the side of the head. [white]"You heard him, we should follow him around town."[/white]
Dee continued to think about what name would be good for Sabin. Scruffy seemed appropriate, but after Shiny with Vashnar, she didn't want to seem mean.

As Sabin just decided to lead them through town, Vashnar just relaxed and decided to follow along, not to cause too much trouble. Dee didn't hinder his movements, so he was able to keep pace with Sabin. After getting tapped on the head by Dee, Vashnar looked up at her and said "You can either tell me polity where to go, or I can make you walk" he told her before saying "All right then Sabin, where to? I was thinking of stopping off at the marketplace to try and find anygoods, then find a forge to repair my armor. I also have a feeling that Dee wants to find books, but I don't think they have any".

Derick opened his eyes, but abruptly shut them as the sun pierced his vision. "Land ho!" shouted the aged, husky voice of their captain. Derick rubbed his eyes and sat up, nearly falling over in the process as a particularly robust wave rocked the shipping boat to the right. "What was that?..." Derick called to the captain weakly, it had been daylight when he fell asleep...had he slept for an hour or a day? "Land ho, laddie! Come and take a look!" The captain's voice was a mix of seafaring lingo and formal speech, Derick supposed most merchants possessed his mixed vocabulary.
Derick stood up slowly, another wave hit the boat, sending Derick stumbling into one of the shipping crates, he had been on a boat before, let alone seen the ocean. Derick regained his balance and leaned against the rail at the ship's bow. "Thar she is!" The captain slapped Derick on the back and beamed, clearly the man loved every aspect of sailing. "It's wonderful." Derick said less than enthusiastically as nausea overtook him. Seasickness, Cefia had warned him about it, but he had slept soundly and avoided the issue altogether, hopefully he could hang on until they hit land. "Feelin' a little green are 'ye?" The captain inquired of him with a wry smile, "don't you worry, we'll dock in less than half of hour, you 'ought to go an' wake your seaworthy companion."
Derick nodded at the captain mutely, and then walked towards the ship's stern, tottering as the sea lightly tossed the ship to and fro. He hadn't actually seen where Cefia had disappeared off to, but after some educated guessing and a lot of searching, he found her stowed off in a little nook amongst the shipping crates. "Cefia?" his voice was husheda as he crouched next to Cefia, there was no need to startle her out of such a heavy sleep, "Cefia, we've spotted land, it's time to--agh!" A massive wave decked the ship on the starboard, pitching the deck sharply. Derick lost his balance entirely, rolling forward on top of Cefia so that his back was perpendicular to her midriff. At least I'm not wearing my armor right now... Derick thought miserably as he scrambled to get off of Cefia, "I"m so sorry!"

Cefia had been fairly worked for their ride. After the incident with the scorpions, it had taken her time to heal her leg but that didn't keep her down when it came to working on a ship. At first they gave her the simple jobs of cleaning the deck but sure enough they pushed for her to do many of the other chores. She kept up with it and none of it was really new so she adapted quickly.
Now a time of reprieve is quite useful for her and she had remained below deck to rest. Derick had a difficult time adjusting though, he seemed to have gotten seasick when the waves got a little bit jerky. It couldn't be helped, it was a body issue, there was nothing she could do for the young man. Well perhaps a few tricks to treat it but the problem was, she was kept far too busy on deck.
When Derick landed on her, she quickly got knocked to her senses. Sometimes she worried about the young man, constantly tripping on top of a woman. If she didn't have such hardy nature, he would probably get slapped a few times and arrested for indecent behavior. All she did as a response was a grunt, yawn and shuffling to pick up their supplies.
"You should be more careful if you ever want to get a girl," she replied with a shrug. It was joke, she had been teased plenty of times from the mates she was once with. She slung her steel and dragon axe behind her back, while her hand axe stayed by her left waist. It worked out for easier drawing. For a final touch, she slung a sack with supplies for later on. She hope to find where her old mates were but times were changing. They had to enter the enemy territory just to find some information. She didn't like it but from there they should be able to hitch another ride.
"Let's go."

Derick winced at Cefia's comment, she meant well, and was probably right. It seemed fate and necessity were engaged in a cooperative effort to destroy every ounce of Derick's social grace...and it was working. It was best not to dwell on that sort of problem though, there was much more going on right now.
"Let's go." Right, Derick followed Cefia back to the ship's bow. As they approached the front railing, Derick's mouth dropped open in shock for the second time. There were ships everywhere! Big ships, little ships, each with a full crew and fulfilling a different task. It was chaos, but it was also beautiful in its own way.
The captain's face was set as a navigated the medley of ships. The port was a bit of a free for all, but after a minute or so the ship settled securely against one of the docks. "Aye! Thanks for the help you two!" The captain called after them, "I could always use more help!" The captain chortled as he turned away.
Derick looked down the dock towards the island. There were people bustling every which way, and Derick didn't have the first clue of what to do. "So...now what?"

Dee started to pull herself out of Vashie's grasp. [white]"I never asked for your le-EGS!"[/white] she started to say to him, but was interrupted by falling off his shoulders and onto her bottom.
[white]"Ow..."[/white] She attempted to rub the soreness away as she slowly stood, brushing the dust off of her pants as well. [white]"I should've taken up healing instead..."[/white] she mumbled to herself, still sore in the rump. Now she really wanted to get to an inn somewhere and rest.
[white]"A-anyways,"[/white] she started again, trying to forget what just happened, [white]"I wouldn't think that books are a high seller in an Isle market."[white]
