Tearus' momentary captive screamed as he saw flames, "I sirrender, please! Honest thiefen' an' all that." You should probably kill him. He surrendered, I'm not going to kill him. He'll kill you if he has the chance. Maybe I just shouldn't give him the chance? He's twice your size, tie him up and he'll get free. I can't kill him, he's surrendered, and he needs his life more than I do. Bah, idiot. Love you too me. Tearus kicked the man to the ground. He turned and ran from the burnt bandits, he might kill one on the ground, but then they'd rush over him.
He managed to make it to Elias and Isabel unscathed. He turned to the flashy young man and said, "Hello, I didn't have time to introduce myself, I'm Tearus Martell, at your service sir."

Arkaeis finally dared a look back as the giant explosion sounded behind him. Peeping over his shoulder, he saw only two bandits lumbering after him, the one whose face he had slashed among them. Unfortunate for the red one, but excellent by his book. Besides, by the sound of things, the mage had it covered.
Looking forwards once more, the soldier continued his bobbing and weaving between the trees and through the brush, hoping to further confuse his assailants before the turnabout began. His eyes squinted in concentration, he scanned the area for a good place to set up ambush, and was rewarded for his focus with a nice thicket that would potentially put him out of sight of the bandit's chasing him, even if only for a moment. Really, a moment is all he'd need.
Gripping his lance a little tighter, he ran straight for the little hideaway, readying himself for a fight; inevitably, that's what it would come down to. He got within a few feet of the cluster of bushes and prepared to dive in... when a stray root caught his foot and sent him tumbling to the ground.
At least, that's what appeared to happen from the bandit's point of view. For his little trick to work, Ark had to make sure that it looked like he had no intention of turning around and fighting. He glanced back, face contorted in an expression of fear, before stumbling back up to his feet and into the thick shrubbery.
The soon-to-be scarfaced bandit grinned, waving his axe in the air to spur his friend on. "C'mon, Midge, we've got 'im on tha run!" He cried.
Arkaeis crashed his way deeper into the thicket, a copious amount of overhanging vines aiding in his deception. He took a few more steps in before he felt that he was reasonably out of sight, then ducked down under the cover of the bushes, spear held at the ready. Sweating heavily, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. The soldier tried to steady his shaking hands, but to no effect, and settled for gritting his teeth instead as the bandits drew ever closer.
"Here we go..." He muttered under his breath.
The bandit with the jagged gash on his face was the first to reach the foliage, thundering in at full speed.
"Where'd dat bastard disappear to-?"
He had just enough time to cut himself short and hop awkwardly over to the side before the spear's tip could pierce through his heart.
"What the-"
The bandit was again cut short as Arkaeis sprang up from his semi-hiding place and charged him, shield held up high in front. The bandit, being off balance from dodging the previous attack, could do little other than take the blow as the soldier's shield hit him squarely in the chest, and down he fell into the greenery, closely followed by a lance tip aimed straight for his neck.
As the second bandit made to chase in after his companion, Arkaeis bolted out of the thicket, lance pointing forward as he charged once more. The other brigand, being more agile than the first, quickly rolled out of the way and back up, bringing his axe up in front of him to ward off any more spear thrusts; but, instead of the expected attack, all he saw was the now distant figure of the soldier running off in the opposite direction.
His lungs heaved as they struggled to draw breath, but a satisfied smile lay on his lips as the soldier promptly vacated the premises.
"Don't wanna go pushing my luck." Arkaeis thought wearily, "But not too shabby, if I do say so, myself."

He watched as Izzybella's spell work it's way around and attacked the bandits he had already damaged and weakened, claiming their kills for herself, but making her nearly collapse in the process. Which was, frankly, a really really dumb move as if Elias hadn't been there whatever remained would rush and murder her before she could even stand, and Elias knew dumb moves when he saw them, his entire career is based off of them. "I already know all about Elder magic, I grew up around them my entire life, you didn't really need to go show off." He rose a brow, looking at the fallen girl, slumping to the earth and with eyes that would barely stay open. Elias held out his healing staff and tapped her on the head ever so slightly, she was probably far too tired to realistically dodge it. The tip of the staff glowed a light hue of blue, releasing a strange sort of magical hum and glow that surrounded the fallen girl and wavered and fluctuated as it was absorbed into her body.
"Now, I know this isn't going to help you if you get yourself to the point you can't even stay awake, but it should help." Healing staves were more so known for their ability to mend wounds but they also mend exhaustion. Not much, however, but enough that it should get her back on her feet and moving. "Just keep the magic casting on the downlow, or you're going to collapse." He offered a cocky grin as a way of assurance. He was no expert, well he WAS the Crimson Mage which is in ways better then being an expert, but there was a lot he didn't know about magic. Though, he suspected, he probably knew a fair bit more then the average person. Perfect, because he was simply superior to the average person. "I told you before. Stay behind me." He laughed, offering a hand to help her up.
"I'm Elias, the Crimson Mage, warrior of good and all that, I'll give you a proper introduction later." He looked at the new person, Tearus his name was. "You can help me by making sure this young lady doesn't rush out and try to kill herself. There's still some more bandits I need to fry. I'll make sure they never reach you."

Aaron watched the fireworkings of the red mage, and was relieved to see that he was skilled. Within a moment more, a spell of dark magic was released on the same cluster of bandits. It was like kicking in someone's teeth. They were being hit hard and repeatedly. It took a good bit of the sage's self control to keep from throwing his own version of grim death into the fray. Elias should be able to finish the rest now, and the green haired sage wouldn't need to spend his last pittance of energy on the bandit charge.
The sage glanced off towards the direction that Ark had gone before, and saw the grey haired young man running back towards him. He seemed to be dragging a tail though. One of the bandits was still after him, and still looking plenty unfriendly.
Just one won't leave me depleted....With a quick flick of his fingers, and a pointing gesture to the target, a small bolt of flame arced out, screaming past Ark, and detonating on impacting the axeman's body. The explosion wasn't large, or even very powerful as far as Aaron's spells went, but it would be plenty to kill a single man with light to no armor covering his midsection. It was possible the bandit would be a lucky one, and survive, but as the sage watched the man thrown backwards in a heap he doubted it.
He was just glad that things were about to wind down.

Isabel gagged a little when the healing staff took effect, mending her exhaustion from the past few weeks and all that... Well, not entirely, and not even half way, but it was enough for now. She listened with closed eyes to Elias, and then attempted to lift herself up from the ground, only to find it much easier to take the offered hand and help up. "Who said I was doing nothing more than being a little... Theatrical?" she replied, and stuck her tongue out for a brief moment. And then a thought occurred to her. Reaching for the top of her cloak and shirt and lifting up... Yep. The little scar left behind from that arrow, back in that church with Jya and Rayl... It had been removed. Magic sure was weird, but hey, that was half the fun.
Dropping the cloth back down, Isabel looked back towards the red mage, and gave a little smile. "Thanks." she replied simply in regard to what he had done, and then looked around. "I think we're actually just about... Finished here, aren't we? Not much left for us to do. So I'll just stand by you and you can, I don't know, blow up some more bandits or something." Her eyelids were getting heavy again, although now it was less from magical consumption of her energy and more because the little respite the staff had given her reminded her just how tired she really was. "Let's make it snappy. I need a hot meal and a nice, long cat nap."
...
Oh by whatever horrible deity actually created everything, where was Solomon?!

Arkaeis flinched as the tiny fireball whizzed past his ear, but then sighed in relief as he heard the explosion sound behind him. That should take care of his bandit problem. He slowed to a tired jog, finally coming to a stop in front of the equally exhausted sage and his companion.
"Phew. Thank you kindly, Sir Aaron. Didn't know how much longer I could keep that up!" He exclaimed with a weary, but cheerful, smile, as he fell spread eagle upon his back, panting profusely from lack of oxygen. Producing a canteen of water from his belt, he proceeded to unscrew the cap and dump its contents all over his face, and into his gaping mouth.
"Anyways," The soldier continued, slowly regaining his breath, "It seems like we're almost done here. Judging by the flashes and explosions coming from over there, I don't think any of the bandits will survive." He took another moment more to rest, then precariously picked himself up into a sitting position, studying the sage and shaman before him.
"So, if you don't mind me asking... Where do you all plan on heading after this?" He asked. Ark was still interested in finding a group to travel with; the day's events simply testified to how dangerous it was to go anywhere alone. Perhaps he could find some security with this little group here, and who knows, maybe some companionship, as well. After all, making friends was the most important step in staying alive.

"I love theatrics, but they don't mean much when the actor's dead." He laughed. "I am the Crimson Mage after all." With a small grunt of effort, he helped pull her to her feet. He crossed his arms, thinking for a second, tapping the end of his staff on the ground. "A long cat nap would just be a nap. Or a tiger nap, since tigers are big cats and long is another way to say large. Taking a tiger nap just sounds silly though." He shrugged.
There was a loud explosion not too far away, and in a sudden burst of motion Elias opened his palm wide and pointed his arm away from the both of them. Not far away an explosion rang out and the screams of a man burning alive filled the air. Some fool bandit tripped another one of his booby traps and he followed it up almost instantly with a fire spell and putting him down. "Oh well, point is if you just went back to town like I said you'd be eating long cats and taking hot meal naps." He laughed. Looking around, he couldn't see anyone anymore. Either they were hiding, which was unlikely because he was the great Elias the Crimson Mage, he would sniff out their cowardice in moments. Or, more likely, he killed them all because he was the great Elias the Crimson Mage.
"Oh looks like we're done here. UNLESS SOME FOOL BANDIT IS HIDING, AND IF YOU ARE YOU'RE GOING TO DIE PAINFULLY. Otherwise I need to head back to town to fetch my demon. You guys coming?" Pointing a thumb behind his back, turning his gaze slightly to look at the land behind him.

"Glad to have been of help." Aaron paused. His thoughts all seemed to be mushing together after the bandit fight, making thinking into a chore.
"You did well, as well." The sage laughed briefly, remembering Ark's trick. "That was gutsy earlier, when they found you. You were lucky too. I've not seen things like that succeed very much." Something did seem off about that encounter, but the tired sage could think on that later. For now, there were other things needing doing, like returning to the town.
"Even if some of them would survive, I'm not sure that I could be of any use anymore." Another explosion sounded from across the clearing. "It sounds like things are well in hand, unless they had a mage of their own with them."
Aaron rubbed his eyes, trying to bring back some alertness before continuing.
"We should head back to the town. The people will need checking on, and it will be safer there. For us all." The idea of the townsfolk laying in wait to ambush them on their return came from somewhere in his mind. The sage shook his head to clear it. For one, these people were not fighters, as had been demonstrated earlier. For another... they had reason to be grateful to this group. Not angry with them. The thought refused to be completely shaken though, even discounted as the wild musings of a battle weary mage.
"You're coming back with us, right?"

Arkaeis scratched the back of his head sheepishly, taking the somewhat undeserved compliment from the sage in stride. "Ehehe, well, you know, I do what I can..." He didn't want to say that there was a particularly good reason that it was able to go so smoothly... some things were just better off unsaid.
He gave Aaron an incredulous look as the sage asked if he was coming. "Of course!" The soldier answered with an expression of mock indignation. "If I didn't go back to check on the townsfolk, what kind of person would that make me?" Smiling brightly, the soldier got steadily to his feet, stretching out his taut muscles.
"Besides, it's not like I have anywhere else to go..." He thought to himself, gloomily. He started heading for the town, before he remembered that the sage probably wasn't fit for moving just quite yet, and turned back to address the matter appropriately.
"Well, I'll go on ahead and see if there are any stray bandits running around, but you should probably stay here and rest. You look positively dreadful, if you don't mind me saying."
And with a little tipsy bow and an apologetic smile, Arkaeis set off to check on the town, albeit for rather... different, purposes.

Tearus kept his eyes peeled while the others talked. He got lost in his usual thought pattern pretty quickly. Well Tearus, looks like we survived another close encounter with lady death. Yes it looks like we did. Don't you think we should have killed him? Well me, I've given it some thought, and I still think leaving him alive was the best option. No one thinks what he does is wrong Tearus. Maybe that's because we keep to what's right? Was that a sane thought there? Oranges. Thought so.[/i] Tearus blurted out, "I think we should leave. There's most likely more food in the village."
As he began to stroll towards the town, he saw the soldier who had been a part of the fray. He caught up to him, "Hello, I'm Tearus. I'm the only other person who fights here. Well fights physically rather, although I'm not the strongest warrior. I'm primarily a thief you see, of you need any locks picked, I'm your man. So, what do you do?"

Aaron touched his brow as a form of salute as he watched Arkaeis go on ahead. The sage closed his eyes, letting the exhaustion wash over him for a moment before forcing his eyelids to peel open again. The green-haired man felt "positively dreadful" all right, but he wasn't going to sit out here where he could be positively "bait like".
He slapped his hands to his legs, hoping to get some lasting feeling into them again, instead of the drained, deadweight sensations his body was giving to him. It didn't help, except to give him something to do, but even that was something.
Wearily, he shifted his bag of tomes on his shoulder, even his books proving to be a weight on him.... But, feeling pain, soreness, and weariness was better than the alternative. He gave a wry smile as he shuffled his feet forwards, towards the town again. His steps turned a bit easier once he was actually taking them, and he was able to work on thoughts he'd begun developing earlier as he made the journey. Thoughts like hypothesizing that different forms of magic had a single root similarity in all of them, or the difference between a sage, and a man of faith wielding light magic, or even more complex ones, like what about him and Lilith.... Where had she disappeared to, anyway? He'd had her with him when they left the town, he was sure. He sighed, if she wasn't already on her way back to the town,or there, he'd have to come back out and find her. Anything to make sure she was safe.

Now that things were slowly slowing down to a slow slurry of shuffled movements, Elias was toning down his self. No reason to be all tense like someone's about to bust him over the head right now, so it'd probably be a good time to actually take stock of the group of unlikely unlikelies that he found his self currently allied with. There was Izzybella, the young shaman who was stupid stupid dumb dumb but had a love for the dramatic so he couldn't help but feel a soft spot for her. There was the knife guy who was all busy being oh look at me I have a knife and I do knifey things, he didn't know him very well but people who use knives and do knifey things were usually jerks who like to steal things. Sickening in the face of what is right and what is just.
There was some other guy he never really saw but from the little he did saw was leading Elias to believe he was a melee dude, which was eh. Not that melee types can't be cool, Garnet was a pretty neato dude, they just have a much higher style curve that took a lot longer and more effort to be totally cool and awesome. Magic users are, by default, totally and completely awesome without any restraint. Melee dude have to work hard to get to just where mages start from, it's not a fair system some may say, but it's their fault for not choosing a profession that is capable of doing everything. There was a blond kid who did... well not much, so he couldn't really judge him fairly. So he was going to judge him unfairly. Verdict: Not Stylish.
That left the two people he didn't really see much of, well one person in particular he saw like nothing of, and the other he saw some of and caught his spell which was nifty keen to the extreme. He had green hair though, so it naturally deducted a billion points from any coolness he could of had. Moss haaaair. He was over there, actually, being all pathetic and stuff. Elias should go bother him.
"Hey hey! How's it going over here?" He had a cocky smirk, looking at the weakened mage. His face screwed up for a moment before he simply nodded and held his staff up. "You look beat, this isn't gonna fix you, but it'll help." He tapped the head of it on his head, less like a smack and more of a playful tap. It helped him aim the spell better, since he was still new to the whole healing thing. A cooling soothing light leaked from the tip of his staff once more, and the orb at the end began to let out a low sort of magical hum releasing the healing magics to be absorbed into his body.
"I don't think I've even met another mage. Sage. Whatever. Well I suppose there's the guy in Sacae that gave me my cloak, his apprentice too... Well I guess I have met another mage, but it's still not a common event." Tapping his chin, and ending with a chuckle. "I'm Elias." His title of Crimson mage was an odd thing, he had given it up, but at the same time he kept using it. A title is something others give you, not something you make up yourself. Of course he was Elias the Crimson Mage forever and always, but he wasn't going to force others to call him by that. That was his name for his self, and if others wanted to call him something else, well that was their choice. He was always going to introduce his self as the mage of crimson, it's not his title. Just like how he wears almost all red, but it's not his favorite color. He was just so DEEP too deep for most people. "Cool spell earlier. Dragons are awesome."

The green-haired sage tried not to look as worn out as he actually felt as the redhead came over. The action of literally tapping him on the head with a heal staff managed to puzzle Aaron a bit. He cracked a smile as he felt the staff magic wash over him, though it wasn't at the feelings of overstress and fatigue fading away, so much as it was at the excited red-garbed sage.
"Thanks for that, Elias. I'm Aaron Winsett." The heal staff, though helping with general stress on the body, wasn't able to actually reenergize him as he needed. He would still need to rest in order to regain his strength and abilities.
"So, a master of fire, and a healer. I couldn't quite see what was going on on your side of the field... forest actually, I guess. But regardless, the sounds of things going off over there were... quite loud." Aaron smiled. Sound was the least of the problems that the bandits, or anyone an anima sage faced, had to deal with, and even that could be deadly in the proper form.
Sacae, he'd said. How far had this other sage traveled?
"So you're well traveled then?" Look at this. Already making small talk, even on the dying breaths of a battle. He continued walking towards the village with a bit more ease as he spoke.

Elias crossed his arms and almost pouted, looking at the other mage with somewhat stern eyes. Or, well, as stern as he could possibly make his eyes without looking like he's making silly faces in a mirror. He could feel that this man was humoring him, but he really shouldn't make a fuss about it. Humoring is the first step to accepting, or something. There was probably a saying some old dead guy said a thousand years ago that everyone steals as their own. Still, he couldn't help but oblige his ego by bowing when he gave his compliments. Or what Elias thought were his compliments. "Why thank you. I'm not a master though, definitely better then the average mage, but still a lot of room for improvement." He added, with a small chuckle, he preferred the term 'genius' and 'prodigy' (even though he pretty much passed the age requisite for 'prodigydom' years ago). Sure, maybe a year ago he'd label his self a master, but now he's realized that he was no master. Well except for being a master at bandit blazing.
"Still new to the staff though, groping my way around in the dark, so to speak. But it's fun." He looked at his staff with a small grin. "Anyways, things tend to get loud when you're dealing with explosives. I wouldn't have it any other way, naturally. Stealthy explosives! Sneaking in and then BLOWING everything up, it's really fun. It also demoralizes bandits, who are generally scared of it. Who would of thought?" There was a lot of other reasons he could give for excuses for his loud magic, luring people where he wants, covering up the sounds other make so they can sneak in more skillfully. Great for distractions, the truth was that he just liked magic better that way. Big, loud, and flashy.
"I'm from Lycia. I used to live near Ostia. Before it got destroyed three separate times and sunk into a sea of lava because a certain someone had to touch something." Wyatt... Elias was sure he was alive somewhere. It wouldn't make for an interesting story otherwise. Fate favors the dramatic. "But I've traveled all over Elibe. Everywhere but the Western Isles and Nabata. Speaking of which, I really need to take a vacation out there one day." Tapping his chin looking almost wistful, eyes trailing the sky above. The sky was dark, and looked quite nasty. He could of swore he heard a thunderclap somewhere in the distance. Rain sucked. Still, that reminded him of something. With a wide grin he turned his head down and looked at this Green fellow. He plodded his staff upon the ground with each step, like it was a very nicely decorated walking stick. That you hit people back to health with. "I take it you were responsible for that cold chill and deliciously peachy smell earlier? Pretty powerful Anima spell, even threw nature out of wack. Keep that up and even beating you to death with staffs won't help."

Aaron laughed, still tired, but amused by Elias' mention that explosives were often loud.
"Loud, and destructive as well. It normally can handle more than bandits." The sage found himself agreeing with Elias. He'd always enjoyed working with fire and explosions. Now though, he was looking to branch out and learn to manipulate more than just fiery red with his talent. That was what had convinced him to start into his study of fimbulvetr.... Perhaps just a bit prematurely.
The green-haired sage listened as Red prattled on. The destruction of Ostia. It sounded like he knew something of it. And not many people spoke of going into Nabata for vacation that Aaron had ever heard of. It was just sand and sun down there, the beach being vacant. Now that he thought of it though, the coastal region could have some nice places along it.
Eventually, they got down to the warning about the earlier spell. Aaron had dumped most of his energy into something that had flash frozen half the town. The blizzard had passed now, but it looked like he'd accidentally triggered a thunder shower. At least it would help combat any fires that still burned.
"Believe me, I won't be doing that again if I can help it. I just thought that something... loud that a pack of jackals like those bandits wouldn't ignore."
The Sage noticed that Elias hadn't elaborated any on his comment about being well traveled. Ah well... Aaron was feeling pretty tired anyway. He was glad when they stumbled out of the forest to see the town perched not far from the wood's border.
"...Peaches?" Aaron gave a puzzled glane towards the red headed sage. He had no idea what the other man was talking about.
OoC: Elias, have you looked at how many uses of my lightning tome are missing? Nada.
