This is gonna be great, Tuatara thought as he stood behind the gate. He double checked that he was prepared. Cape.... dagger... jokes... He quickly ran through them, his list of jokes. He didn't want to accidentally use one.
"Look to to the north and you'll find Tut the Mad!" The anouncer called out, sweaping his arm toward Tuatara.
Tuatara put on a huge grin as the gate began to lift, and he ran out, waving at the crowd. They cheered, and he did a cart wheel before making his way to the center of the arena. Swordalwayswinsswordalwayswins he repeated to himself as he waited to see who he would fight.

"Why it must be him?" Mana said to herself as she leaned against the wall. It wasn't because she underestimated him but the Sacaen girl found that his personality was difficult to be dealt with, in battle. Nevertheless, it was match, she was going to fight with all her strength to honor him.
"In the south gate, Maiden of The Blade will challenge Tut The Mad in a contest of a speed! These fighters had remarkable agility which they had shown it in their previous matches. It will be interesting to watch them fight!"
Like her last match against the White Lion, Mana felt nervous when the gate began to lift and the cheers started to call her name. But she had gotten used to it a little, her steps had more confidence than the last time. She entered the arena with her hand already on the hilt of her sword, ready to make a quick draw anytime.
Mana stared at Tut, wondering what she should say before the match began. "Well, it seems I am going to fight you, Tuatara..." she spoke to her opponent with serious tone. Even against a someone she knew, and especially because he was an acquaintance of hers, she would go all-out for the sake of honor. "Lets have a good fight, shall we?" she said, smiling at him. Maybe because she knew him that her nervousness didn't overwhelm her, she even started to feel more relaxed now.
"The battle between Maiden of The blade and Tut The Mad........Begin!!!"

Wyatt cheered loudly as Mana walked back into the arena, looking much more confident then before.
[red]"You can do it Mana! Knock the joker down!"[/red] He called, banging on the bars with his powerful hands. Sure, people were staring, but he didn't care. He'd be as loud an unruly for his friends as he wanted to when they fought. He did turn to address Clair though.
[red]"Are you actually going to cheer for your 'friend'? Or is he more of a bother?"[/red] He said, keeping his tone light. He wasn't sure how Clair felt about Tut, but if he had to guess it was the kind of annoyance one had when their junior went around causing trouble. Protective, but infuriating.

"Aww, a serious fight?" Tuatara said to Mana. And then he began to laugh hysterically when he realized they both had swords. "We both.... have... swords," he chuckled, not even trying to contain himself.
The announcer finished, and Tuatara immediately stopped laughing. He jumped backwards to try and avoid any attack Mana might make. Why does she want a serious fight? he asked himself. Fighting serious is fun I guess...
As soon as he landed he sprinted foward, hand on his dagger. "Whelp, I suppose I can fight seriously today," Tuatara said to Mana, his voice a sort of laid back tone. It seemed his demeanor had changed, his eyes were less bright and more... soft and intense. Activate serious mode. A soft grin played on his lips as he prepared to pull a quick drawl on Mana.

Clair stood next to Wyatt, as the fighters reached their marks. The announcers announced. People cheered. Fighters crossed their arms and looked tough around her. Everything was going as usual. Except for her. She didn't know who to cheer for. She wanted to support Mana as Wyatt's friend, but Tuatara.... And she couldn't stand him?! He'd behaved like a complete loon in the first round. No! He was a loon. She'd seen it a day or so ago. They'd even talked about it! ...But she couldn't bring herself to cheer at the moment.
She watched as the nimble thief leapt back and then dashed into the fray with a hint of concern on her face. He was charging the Maiden of the Blade, and despite taking some rough blows in the first round, and fainting at the end of it, Mana was an excellent swordswoman.
She heard Wyatt's question towards her as the match progressed, and she immediately schooled her face to calm. She wasn't sure how to answer. He certainly seemed like a bother. She noted that he wasn't goofing off as much this round though. She wasn't sure what had prompted the change in behavior, but she approved.
"I don't know." She answered back to the smith, one hand cocked on her hip. She turned her head and switched focus to Wyatt as she asked a question back to him.
"What do you think?"

Yaen looked over at Wyatt, chuckling a little at his excitement. It was a short lived chuckle, however. He looked back out onto the field, arms folded over his chest. "It's true, that young man doesn't seem to be all there." he commented, restating the painfully obvious. "But that's what makes him dangerous. How can you predict something you cannot comprehend?" he asked. "He may be a fool, but trust me... I have never seen anything more frightening in this world than a madman with a weapon." Yaen stated gravely, staring at the mentally disturbed thief with narrowed eyes.

Richter let out a dry laugh in response to Yaen's remark. It was true, and the Ilian could attest to it. He was currently making a career out of fighting madmen with weapons, and he knew the terror they could inspire. In fact, Richter had no doubt some would even attribute the title of "madman" to him, and look at all the destruction he himself had managed to cause in the last couple of years.
"A good point," he replied, voicing his own two cents, "but calling Tuatara a madman is an insult to madmen everywhere." Richter looked back out at the arena, observing casually as the Maiden of the Blade and Tuatara squared off. They both look determined, each in their own way, but still...
"I'd say 'bumbling oaf' is a more apt term."

"Okay...He is somewhat creepy with that laughter." The girl had to admit that it was really difficult to concentrate against such opponent. Mana wouldn't let his action distract her, though. This was different from her first match, or her other fights, she could barely feel the tension and the pressure from both the spectators and her opponent because of her opponent's carefree behavior. Well, it was a good thing, maybe.
Mana almost jumped toward Tut at the end of the announcer's declaration, but the thief's reaction was faster. He already took some distance before any attack could be launched at him. "Tsk...It's like he read my mind." The girl knew he wasn't running away with that backward jump, he actually did good reading her movement. "Yeah, thank you. I want to fight seriously to impress someone," she shouted as she lowered her posture with her sword unsheathed. Tut seemed different from before, he now ran toward her with scary eyes, sort of.
"He is fast. As I expected..." She already knew that he was a speed type since the beginning. It was easy to tell, he wasn't too muscular and his body was more slender than people like Wyatt or that Richter. Thus, she was prepared to answer his challenge with her own fighting style which relied on agility and technique. Although their styles were somewhat similar, their basics were different so this fight might offer a nice show for those who were watching. "I need to overcome him in term of speed to win this."
Her feet was feeling the ground, waiting for a right momentum to dash forward. And as Tuatara came right to her, Mana put her both hand in her sword hilt and brought the sword horizontally at her eye level. Her eyes narrowed as she studied his movement, which was more fluid than Albert's. She wouldn't wait for his attack, she decided to respond his charge with her own. One second before she still stood in where she had been, now she was gone. Mana had dashed toward Tut with her trademark frontal attack to start a fight.
This was a real sword she was using so Mana hesitated for a moment. She might kill him if she wasn't careful. This was the reason why she never liked using real weapon to fight a friend. With that thought, she decided to go with his leg first. Mana swung her sword to his left thigh without letting her hesitation stop her. Tut would see a flash coming low toward his thigh.

[red]"What do I think?"[/red] Wyatt echoed Clair as his eyes turned back to the ring. [red]"I think he's like a kid brother to you. You want to see him do well, but something he just irritates you to no end"[/red] He responded, pounding on the bars again as Mana went on the offensive. They might need to replace them by the time he was done with this, he sure was being rowdy!
[red]"You can do it Mana! Come on, knock that joker around the ring!"[/red] He shouted as she moved in, enjoying watching her fight. He'd normally seen it from a head on approach, or from the side of his eye when he was worried about his own opponents. Being able to just look at her fighting style, as she seemingly danced around the ring, was pretty impressive.
[red]"You should give your guy some support. After all, he'll need all the encouragement he can get going up against Mana."[/red] Wyatt remarked to Clair. He didn't particularly like Tut from their first meeting, but he could imagine that it would be depressing to have nobody cheering for you.

Tuatara caught the flash in the corner of his eye as Mana made her move. He laughed, remembering the thrill of fighting one on one. The last time he had dueled someone was Manis, all those years ago. He had been so-
Planting his left foot onto the ground, Tuatara shoved off to the right, feeling her sword graze his pant leg and part of his cape. Ok lets see he thought, dozens of ideas flashing through his mind. I suppose its as good time as any to use that...
Landing somewhat gracefully, Tuatara immedately wretched the cape over his head with his left hand, sending it flying toward Mana. He fell to a croach in the same motion, his hand still on his sheathed dagger. Next he be began to run low to the ground, so that he could run by while she was destracted. But, he tripped, sending himself rolling in the direction as the flying cape. Tuatara grinned, laughing as he uncontollablely rolled toward his oponent. Ha, serious? I don't think life agrees.

Mana knew it wouldn't end with only one attack. Tuatara's quick reaction wasn't unexpected. She felt her sword managed to scratch him a little, proved by a small cut in his cape. A nice start, she thought, but her attack wouldn't end with that. Mana added another two steps forward before turning her direction toward where Tuatara had moved to. Now, she used her right hand to hold the sword while her left swung to her side.
Tuatara's cape blocked her sight, a nice tactic from the thief. Her eyes searched for the next stunt he might have pulled off. Having this cape between her and him, her choices was limited. Should she retreated a few steps to avoid a sudden attack or cut this cape to see what he was planning while hiding behind it. Moving to the side was also a good strategy but it might be a bad gambling if he had planned to ambush her when she did it. "I shouldn't think too much here..."
Mana gripped the hilt tightly as she tilted her body slightly to the left, bringing her sword hand downward. She then swung her sword toward the cape and sliced it easily. The problem was, where was her opponent. The cape was cut into two, each pieces fell to different side and revealed what hid behind it.
"Huh, where is he?" He wasn't there, and he didn't show up in each sides as well. Did this man do some clever trick to deceive her? She thought she had a good grasp about the situation but what this was completely unexpected. Mana turned around to check if he somehow managed to sneak behind her, which she actually considered as impossible. "Ugh, what is he actually doing? Is it a step technique?"
But before she could comprehend what was really going on, the girl was tripped by literally Tuatara himself. Her eyes showed her surprise for getting into an unpredictable situation like this. "Does he aim for it since the beginning?" She wondered. Tripping opponent in battle was pretty common strategy, but to roll and use your whole body to do it? It was the first time she saw someone do that.
Mana hit the ground hard although she managed to protect her head in the last second. It was humiliating to be taken down by such attack, she had no choice but to admit that he had caught her completely off-guard with that stunt. Now, she tried to figure out what he was going to do next as she lay on the ground, rubbing her left shoulder that got the most damage from the falling. "That's really unexpected. It seems you are really dangerous, and unpredictable, when you are serious, huh?"

Looking on, packed in the mass of people, Synkkis took special interest in this fight. He himself wasn't as fast on his feet as he would like to be, so he wanted to look on and study some of the footwork. However, his interest in the particulars of the duel took a backseat when he got a better look at the competitors.
The Maiden of the Blade, from what the Ilian heard other people saying was her practically undying spirit and fortitude, managing to take down a fully armored knight after taking a massive hit. The other opponent is probably going to have to kill the girl in order to secure a victory.
Then there was Tut the Mad. After looking on to his crooked smile and self-muttering, the description fit perfectly. People were still talking about the circus act that was his first round. If he stood a chance or not it didn't matter too much to him. Although he sort of was rooting for Tut - The crazed underdog. If he happened to win it'd be a good break in the monotonous 'serious' fights where the fighters took everything personally.
As both fighters made their way to close the distance, he couldn't help but be fooled by the cloak and dagger movements made by Tut the Mad. When he was so sure a strike would connect, it was just a diversion to stay out of range of the Maiden's blade.
With the madman's successful gambit, the crowd erupted. Synkkis himself joined in with the roar of the audience. "Get a hit in! Slice and dice!" Blades weren't his thing, but it was a show he could appreciate.

She went back to watching the battle as Wyatt spoke. Like a "kid brother"?...
"Hmm....." She could see that, in a sense. She'd identified what she felt towards him the day before easily enough. It was responsibility. That didn't necessarily translate into fondness, but she did want the best for him. He needed someplace good to ply his skills in. Problem was, she knew of no place for him.... And then his battles here hadn't helped her opinions. People came to the arena to see a clash. A fight. She came to see a fair, dirt free battle of skill and form, specifically. The crowds seemed to be enjoying his show, but to her it was nothing but annoying. You went to a street performing show for this kind of thing. Not an arena.
"You're probably right...." Her eyebrows raised as she saw him trip and was suddenly concerned for him. Then he bowled Mana over though, and she didn't bother suppressing her reaction as she palmed her face. "...Beginner's luck...."
"You're probably right, Wyatt. I'm just not sure I can cheer for that. Pratfall humor has never been my thing, and he's already stretched my patience beyond my tolerance...." She paused, wishing he wasn't a thief. Wishing he had a home. Wishing for his safety.
"...I really do wish the best for him." She said it in a small voice. She didn't know Wyatt. Her fist knew him better than she did, in fact, but she couldn't seem to help herself. Even with as skilled and experienced as Clair had become over the years, she still needed some help with her feelings from time to time. Perhaps it was a mistake to talk to Wyatt like this.
"I'm sorry. This isn't what you should be thinking about now." Clair said, a bit flustered. "Cheer for your friend, Wyatt." She started to move off slowly with the intent of saying near the edge of the arena, but moving around a little bit as well.

Tuatara jumped to his feet. "Hahaha! I've got you were I- nowhere to run- wait, no, I have you now!" He grinned as he drew his dagger. "Give up Mana, I have the high ground, you can't win!"
Ok, gotta be quick Tuatara thought, thinking up various stratagies. No... no... that one requires jokes... no... ugh, I need Bob! He gave up and made the obvious move- dive bombing her.
"HAHA!" Tuatara yelled, knee aimed for Mana's stomach and dagger at the ready. "Fire Dragon's.... knee to the stomach!" Wait, fire? Why not lightning? Ooooh, or maybe ice! No, no, light is definitely better. Or no, wind, cause it's crazy! Wait no....

Mana was late to get up. Tuatara had seized the momentum by launching himself on her. This put the girl at disadvantage, her current position made it difficult to counterattack while the thief had chosen the timing nicely. "I should have gotten up sooner..." she made a note in her mind. Next time she would be more careful when fought someone like Tuatara.
"That's the worst name I've ever heard!" she commented to his attack's name. Not going to let herself getting pounced by the eccentric thief, Mana gracefully used her foot to hold his knee, absorbing most of the force coming from his attack. Although it couldn't entirely stop him from dive bombing her, it at least prevented him from stomping on her stomach and also gave her a few seconds to grab her sword. Now, when the thief's body was still falling toward her, she planned to stab him.
"Take this, Tut!" she shouted. Mana didn't look hesitated anymore when she thrust her sword toward his shoulder. This guy was somewhat unpredictable, he might push her into another disadvantage situation if she didn't come to him with her full strength. Real weapon or not, she should have gone with full strength since the beginning, the girl quietly admitted her mistake. How could someone who hated being underestimated let herself go easy on her opponent? She told herself to not repeat the same mistake. "And I can't lose here...Not before I fulfill my promise to fight Wyatt in the arena!" she thought.
