"Aw, that's a bummer. I wanted to hear other people's experience with this new world, though I suppose I don't have much information about that there Belladingadong. Go on, please." He ate some more of his soup, nodding silently as he did, this wasn't bad. Not his best, but definitely pretty good for just what he had leftover. Of course anything less then the absolute best would be a disgrace to his name as a gourmet, the crimson gourmet that is. Of course that was only a natural progression, little did everyone know that ever single title in the world had a secret level consisting of a crimson variation of such.
She began recanting some tale about a forest or something. A magical forest full of magical magic with magic bursting from the magical seams and leaving magical magic all over the magical land and having glowing magic waste or something. Still he paid attention as this was a more interesting tale then the last, and was actually relevant to his interests and wasn't trying to derail him from his own conversation. She talked about super magic monsters and super magic jewelry that was all super unbreakable and magical. There was a common theme in this story.
"Sounds like our Nabata. Well without all the forests... and ruins... and monsters... okay maybe it's different but it's still the same in some ways. Nabata is a large desert full of death and despair, with all manner of desert like animals and no water and is ultra super hot and totally melts people right down to their shoes. Or I'd like to think, because that sounds silly." He began with his own story, or rather a story based on things he's heard and read in his father's books. He had so many books about so many random things, it left Elias with a very odd patchwork of knowledge. He could tell you the theoretical applications of arcane magical knowledge, but ask him a math problem and he'd just say "Math is for Nerds".
"Well my point is that inside this desert there's supposed to be like super old buildings and ruins and stuff and some people claim there's like a city there or something full of magic that just oozes everywhere like a messy wound when someone's arm is cut off. Just splat splat, oops got magic all over you sorry. There's a lot of names for it, but I think the best is called "Arcadia". I've never been there, but my father had a book about it. It was a book full of stories because no one has any concrete proof about it, and all stories about it are usually word of mouth and by crazy desert people. Did you know there was like a smith town and some weird horse raising village out there? Oh wait, you probably wouldn't, sorry. Point is, it's where it's said dragons live." He punctuated his point with a shrug, unsure if it even exists. Well if dragons exist, and they probably definitely maybe do, then what's so far-fetched about them have a secret town in the desert? NOTHING. Dragons were cool like that, screw the fact it's a desert we live here now. One of the little dragons must of been whining on the way there and they were just like 'Forget it, we're stopping.'
"It's just folklore, no one has actually been there and come back with proof or anything and as far as anyone knows it's just a bunch of desert and stuff, I believe it though. Magic is crazy and cool like that."

With the tension settled--and Aeros' comments unimpactful, thank goodness--the manakete was able to settle into his food and listen. He found that he liked it a little better.
And he could make sure to pay attention if no one was wanting an answer from him, which he also liked, after the display from these two.
So he listened; Kazane began telling them about her world, which didn't seem much different from Elibe...although he wasn't sure if he knew everything about that...anyway, it was pretty interesting all the same. Standard, really, with monsters and suspicions of magic (even if he couldn't blame them, the way everyone used MAGIC as some sort of word for anything confusing or misunderstood bothered him), but it sounded dangerous enough to...excuse? Dangerous enough to excuse the tales, since nobody could confirm or deny them, and there were stranger things all over, he was sure. And then...something about an unbreakable magic gem.
The beastmage had mentioned that dragons were just as involved in Belorath's history as they were in Elibe's...could it...?
Aeros slowly balanced his bowl on his knees, drew out his dragonstone, and cradled it in his hands. If there were no dragons in Belorath...he didn't know why he was interested, but what else could it be? And neither of these two would know what a dragonstone was, or at least, if Elias did, he probably wouldn't put two-and-two together. He could always say he'd just found it...aaaand then Elias was off again. His story was a bit more...clunky, but he actually knew exactly (sort of) what he was talking about, which made for an odd contrast. When he finished, Aeros said, "Yes, it is..." making sure to sound as sincere as possible. It wouldn't do to have the Crimson Mage(!) go into a huff again, especially since the manakete wanted an answer from Kazane.
To the beastwoman, he said, "Did you happen to...see the gem? The one they brought back from the forest?" And then, inspired a little, he continued, "And...Elias, have you...ever seen anything like this?" It was a risk to just offer up the dragonstone...but he had seen plenty of thieves in his life...waking time, and the benefits of befriending two knowledgeable mages like these two outweighed the chance that they were thieves. Neither one of them fit the profile at all.
He ignored the fact that Tuatara didn't fit the profile he was referring to, because that wasn't helping.

Kazane ate some of the soup while listening to Elias' reply, and trying to decode it. Right, she'd heard a little bit about Nabata. They said it was a wasteland, but she didn't believe that. Everything had something there, even the Gunert desert had secrets within in, so Nabata must have been the same. But when Elias mentioned this city, Arcadia, again, she paid attention. Dragons again...Dragons that still lived in their world. What a fascinating thing! Elias spoke about them like they weren't some evil monster, but they had fought them here, just as her people had. But in this land it was the Dragons who hid, so maybe they were not the violent ones they were in her world? Difficult to tell.
[blue]"It sounds like a wonderful place to explore. Ruins and lost secrets, the idea of it just makes me giddy!"[/blue] She admitted with a smile, her tail swishing about excitedly. [blue]"And to see a city of dragons...that would be exciting...if they..you know...weren't hostile. Maybe they like their peace and quiet? It might be a bad idea to poke a sleeping dog, as the saying goes."[/blue] She finished, turning towards Aeros as he spoke softly.
She took a sip of her soup as he pulled something out, and she nearly choked on it. The bowl fell from her hands, thankfully landing upright with only the tiniest bit of the soup splashing out, as she practically dove over to Aeros and the stone he held. When she registered his question about her having seen the stone of her home, she stammered, nodding slightly.
[blue]"Y-Yes, my mother took me to s-see it once but...Elias can you see this? Can you feel this?!"[/blue] She exclaimed excitedly, reaching out to try and drag the Crimson Mage over to examine the stone. Her eyes were transfixed on it, but she dared not touch it.
[blue]"The design...it's similar. Kind of different, but it has a lot of similar traits. But...this stone..."[/blue] This one wasn't empty, this one had power inside of it. She could sense it even without focusing on it. There seemed to be some tiny light, like a single flame inside the crystal. Some source of magical power, and the amount of it that she felt washing over her from it both excited and terrified her.
[blue]"A..Aeros. Don't tell me...you know what this is? What it does? Where you found it?"[/blue] The questions came rapid fire, and she wasn't sure which one she wanted an answer to first.

"I've always wanted to go too, but the whole 'on the other side of the world with absolutely no people there' turns me off. I mean who is supposed to see my heroic actions if there's no one there? What's the point of it then?" Elias punctuated his point with a sigh and a shrug, but still smiling all the same. "I'm pretty sure the dragons are fond of their peace, or they wouldn't have kept it such a secret that making the fact it exists a debate and not a reality. Still I'm not exactly in a rush to travel to through a desert of death to a place that may or may not be real and even if it was is probably filled with dragons that are hiding for a reason and probably wouldn't be too happy about being found. I mean, I'm incredible but I'm not an idiot."
That's when the silent third party decided to stop being the silent third party, which he didn't mind that much. He was too busy saying nothing, it was kinda boring. He took out some weird gem type thing that looked like a crystal flame almost, Elias was oblivious to many things, but magic was not one of them. Before Kazane grabbed his arm and forced him to touch it, he could feel it. How did this person hide such a presence so well? In reality Elias should have noticed the second they met, it was a bit... weird. Disconcerting really. "I... Can't say I've ever seen anything like it." He felt almost embarrassed not knowing something, but that only meant that it was an opportunity to learn more and therefore become even more intelligent and incredible.
He didn't even reply when Kazane spoke to him. His eyes narrowed as he stared at it. When he was touching it, it felt strange. Almost like... gold. That was the only word he could use to describe it, it felt like the color gold washing over him. It glowed with the light of a small flame, whatever this was... it wasn't a normal magical item. It wasn't anima magic, light magic, or elder. He could tell, it lacked any kind of scent that he had grown accustomed to giving each branch of magic. It was undoubtedly magic though, unlike he had seen or felt. His mind rapidly came up with thousands of different explanations over what it could possibly be. A catalyst of some sort? An ancient relic? A phylactery? He had a theory, that hit him like a bolt of lightning, but he stayed silent with it. Instead he silently waited for Aeros' explanation. Perhaps it could shed some light on it. Assuming he was telling the truth about whatever it was.

He had just finished his question to Elias when the attack came. The beastmage suddenly moved, and Aeros whipped his head around just in time to find her much, much closer than before. Startled, he let out a noise that was only slightly higher in pitch than a squeak and had to resist the urge to jerk backward; he still managed to knock his (mostly empty) bowl to the side as he jerked the dragonstone closer, protectively. After finally convincing himself that he wasn't under attack, the manakete held the stone out again, struggling to find an answer to Kazane's question. It was harder than he had assumed, and the idea was seeming worse by the moment. "I..." Well, Elias said he hadn't seen anything similar, so at least the manakete was in the clear about that. "I just kind of...woke up with it. A few years ago." He was sure that it was more than a few years, but beyond that it was too sketchy to matter.
And now came even more of a dilemma: should he lie? Neither of these two seemed to have any ill feelings toward dragons, but...it felt like such a guarded secret now that he was away from everyone who knew about it. Like it was something to be stored, kept apart, something to give to people he trusted. Looking back, he almost felt guilty...or something...at how freely he'd given out his identity before. There was no...real...reason to be cautious now...
...Well, he could compromise...give a few...hints, maybe...the thought still made him uneasy, but he felt that hiding everything would feel just as bad, if not worse, than spilling everything. These two had helped him, fed him, and were keeping him company now, being...nice to him.
"I...don't know what it is exactly--" true enough, in a way-- "...but I know I can make it do this."
Could he make it do 'this'?
Aeros wasn't sure what had inspired him to try, but he had a memory of seeing another manakete a several years before, drawing on his dragonstone to...reinforce? To reinforce himself against attack without transforming. It had caused the normal reaction from the dragonstone--a slight glow, or, in Aeros' case, a brighter glow--but he had never tried it himself. It was as good a time as any, though, so the manakete concentrated on the stone, delving into it as he usually did to transform...trying to hold it back this time.
Naturally, it turned into fighting a torrent of power as his mind tried to fall into the normal pattern of 'take every bit of energy you can and shove it somewhere else.' He had to struggle with it for several seconds before he finally lidded it, slowing it.
The stone began to glow with a subdued light, and Aeros relaxed a bit, satisfied...although instead of feeling strengthened as he had expected, he felt almost...lopsided, not physically, just like he hadn't got it exactly right...
But he had done it! His smile strengthened at the realization as he watched the flickering light from the stone. After all this time, he had never tried this trick before, and now he had done it! And with practice...
Oh. Wait. There were two other people here. The light quickly died as Aeros' concentration broke; it surprised him how little the effort had tired him, now that he could feel the aftereffects. Looking up at his...'audience' now, he finished with, "But that's about...it," trying to ignore the niggling fact that that certainly was not 'it.' If these two could be trusted...he would show them everything else, he promised himself, and them.

Even Elias hadn't seen anything like this! How incredible, so this wasn't just an Elibe thing! This was a real mystery! She registered Aeros answering one of her questions. He'd just...woken up with it? Oh right, he had memory loss too. That made sense, in an annoying way, she supposed.
But then he announced that he could do something with it...and her eyes went wide as she watched him concentrate. Like magic, harnessing a wild power for your use. Suddenly, the glow from the stone intensified, and Kazane's eyes went wide as she observed this mystery. Somehow he could tap into the magic in this stone, he could make it react and surge up...but how? How was he doing this? What was this energy she felt, pulsing off of him? She was a little scared by it all, but her excitement seemed to over ride that. Even in the shadow of the crystals light, it looked almost like Aeros was glowing. Something about his body seemed different...like it was shifting slightly. But then as soon as she noticed, it was gone. He looked up, and she met his gaze, unsure of what to say.
[blue]"That was...unlike anything I've ever seen or felt before. And you can just...tap into that? There is more magic there then I have seen in one place ever...but what happens when you channel it? I could see...something happening, but I don't know what. It's almost like the magic was...changing you? No...like it was protecting you. I'm not sure, it was hard to tell. There is so little magic that deals with defense, it's hard to pick out."[/blue] She explained, poking her finger on the odd stone, and feeling the charge of power shooting up her arm.
Whatever this artifact was, it was clearly very powerful. And it existed in both words, another similarity between them. [blue]"What do you think Elias? Does Elibe have anything even close to this? I've never seen it on Belorath...it might even rival the power of a spire!"[/blue] She exclaimed excitedly.

"Well, obviously Elibe has something like this since Mr. "I've got a super rare relic" is from Elibe." Elias shrugged, tapping his chin and making oh so many little hums of thought. He didn't actually hum as a habit, he did it on purpose because he always thought that was something you're supposed to do when you're thinking hard. Then again that in itself could be considered a habit, but if you wanna be that way you'll be stuck until you go cross eyed. "Still I've never seen anything like it. I may have read about it, but the fact is I've read about so many "super powerful gem-like things" that to pull up a catalogue would take days and drown us all in parchment. There's tons of things it could be, but I've never seen illustrations of any of them. Research journals and books are sorely lacking it pictures." He let out a small harumph. He wasn't annoyed, it was a perfect opportunity to learn something new, he just hated the fact that he could very well already know what it was but not realize it.
"Still, like pink said... The magic was odd. Like it was... filling you? I suppose? Like the magic inside of it, was going into you. For whatever reason that is." He tapped his chin, another forced habit that all smart people must have and obviously Elias was the smartest of the smartypants. "Hrm... I don't think I could do anything like that, even if you gave it to me. It's a cool magic fill ball and whatnot, but I can't even begin to think of how to draw power from it without using a thousand million different magic items and whatnot. It must be something you know how to do naturally, which means you're connected to whatever this thing is somehow. I'm not sure how though..." Maybe it was... nah. That's silly, but maybe... no. No of course not. Then again... Could it be...? This was going to drive him crazy.
"Can you do more? How do you do it? Do you just, like, yank out the magic or something? Or is there some strange ritual? Or is it just something that comes so naturally that you can't even begin to explain, like trying to explain how to move your arm?" A barrage of questions to some, but these would really help him piece together the mystery.

Even after such a success, Aeros was starting to become a little nervous; doing something so obviously...unnatural in front of two brilliant mages might not have been the best idea...of course, it wasn't meant to be the best idea, was it? Why did he feel so split on whether to reveal himself or not?
Confused with himself yet again, the manakete clung to the questions coming to him from Kazane. "Well, I..." he hesitated, trying to think of an answer. He couldn't just 'tap into it,' could he? It was a process he wasn't entirely familiar with. "It's...I don't know." Frustrating though it was, he had to concede defeat on describing it, because he simply couldn't. And then the beastmage turned to Elias mentioning something about...a spire? "What's a sp-" he began quietly...too quietly, apparently, since he couldn't even hear himself over Elias' input.
It was a relief to know that the Crimson Mage(!) couldn't identify it...although Aeros was still mixed up on how much he wanted to reveal, he suspected that having the mage find out everything right away would not be the best way for things to occur. The mage did suspect the connection between the manakete and the dragonstone, but all of that could be covered through the memory loss. Aeros was thankful that he had mentioned that as early as he had; it would have been...difficult to act completely ignorant and excuse himself with, 'I forgot,' if he introduced the idea after things became uncomfortable.
And then came another barrage of questions. Even though he was starting to like the mage--perhaps it came from encountering so many...'normal' people, but the odd ones just seemed more entertaining--the manakete would needed to find a way to stem his curiosity.
He was overwhelmed by these, though, again being questioned on something he had never even thought about. Of course he could do more, but turning into a big beast of legend in front of these two would probably have too many downsides; as for how he did it...he needed to think on that. "Y...yanking it out," the manakete repeated in a low voice, looking at the dragonstone. "I...don't think so. It's more like...hm." He felt like settling this. Why hadn't he figured it out sooner? It felt like an oversight, wanting to experiment with something that was so much a part of him without knowing anything about it.
Aeros opened up the connection again, carefully holding back the flow and making sure to observe what was happening as the glow intensified slightly. "It feels like...like I'm just letting it loose. Like opening a door..." Looking into it like this, he could almost see just how much power was stored in the stone; he had never noticed it before, just assuming...assuming what? It could transform him and give him immense strength for indeterminate amounts of time, why would it not be filled with energy? Now he could see why these two were so interested in it. And he had had it for so long...
Once again, he looked up from the stone, smiling slightly at his discovery...losing his concentration for just a moment...
The dragonstone suddenly flared as its energy surged outward, into him. Shocked, the manakete let out a choked yelp as he struggled to contain it. Without the outlet of an actual transformation, the power was overwhelming; it was all Aeros could do to keep it all contained, to keep himself from transforming. For a moment, they were deadlocked, all that energy on one side and the manakete on the other, until Aeros clamped down on it, slowly forcing it back until the glow shrank to its normal level.
To his frustration, it was only then that he realized that his eyes were clamped shut, as were his hands around the stone. He was beginning to dislike losing track of what he was doing...
But, worst of all, he had gone too far this time, at the wrong time, although he couldn't know exactly how far until the other two...told him...

Kazane's eyes seemed to be hooked on Aeros as he came down from the magical high. She felt a bit ashamed as she listened to Elias' questions. Her's had been rapid and simple, his were calculated and steady. He seemed active and...crazy some times, but he proved here that he was at least half the mage he claimed to be. A bit...verbose...but still talented.
As Aeros worked to explain the power, Kazane remained quiet, seeming to take in everything that she could about this stone and the boy, like a withered plant in a spring rain. He seemed to consider something, and looked up at the pair of them as the stone exploded in radiant light. Kazane raised her arm, trying to block out the light and keep it from temporarily blinding her. She was able to see the outline of Aeros' form against the brilliant light, but it looked different...odd. There was a glow of light from his skin, but it was cracked...divided. Almost like their were rifts in his skin, like a lizard's scales or something. His hands, they almost seemed like claws as they were silhouetted by the burst.
And then, the light faded away, leaving Kazane to blink and try to restore her vision. He looked normal now...had that just been a trick of the light? Maybe...but it had seemed so....real. But what was that? What was this power?
[blue]"A...Aeros? Are you ok?"[/blue] She asked, reaching out and touching his arm gently. As she did so, she felt the power there, and it jumped at her touch. Was it...reacting to her? Or was there just too much of it there, and it was unstable? She drew her hand back in shock, the sudden power surprising her.
This boy was some mystery.

"Letting it loose? Interesting. That makes it sounds like this power is actually yours, but it's being barred. Instead of the other way around where you're borrowing the power from it. Maybe the gem is some sort of, I don't know the word for it would be, limiter maybe? Something that limits you, but if you really had that kind of power naturally... then perhaps it's a good thing you're barred from it. I mean how irritating would it be to get a glass of water and 'whoops the glass turned into shards that are now lacerating my hand'." He tapped his chin as he spoke, Kazane was listening quietly. He gazed at the crystal, thinking intently. "Maybe you ha-" He began again but was cut off, no not by anything silly like a dissenting opinion (that would of been wrong because all of Elias opinions > your opinions) but rather what could best be described as a POWER EXPLOSION. Which, as it's so eloquently named, is an explosion of power.
"Gah!" He let out a grunt of surprise as a bright light exploded from the gem, he felt almost as if he was blinded which was totally lame because all he could see was white that quickly turned to black but how did blindness work again? He didn't have first hand experience or anything. There was crazy sounds coming from somewhere, it was a... well how do you put it. Like the sound light has. Does light have a sound? It's like a SHIIIIING kind of noise. His cheeks felt wet for some reason, was he crying? That was stupid- Oh his eyes were just watering. He felt almost oppressed by it though, but just as quickly as it happened it was over.
Well it was partially over.
He gasped out, rubbing his eyes viciously. Clutching them in pain, letting out a strangle gargled noise. They stung far too painfully to even think about opening. More strained noises from the man holding his face in pain as he heard some garbled noise that sounded like the pink girl with the pointy ears and floofy tail. It was like he just stared directly into the sun for like an hour, why was he looking directly at it? This must be the work of some madman with a horrible sense of humor.

As the ringing aftereffects of his power surge died down, Aeros began to hear the reactions of the other two: silence from Kazane, and...was that Elias? The manakete had never heard a human...or animal...or, really, anything make noises like that. It was almost funny, and probably would have been if the situation weren't about to take a turn for-
"A-Aeros? Are you okay?"
...worse?
That didn't sound like panic, or mistrust, it just sounded like...worry. Aeros slowly opened his eyes and loosened his grip on the dragonstone, trying to straighten himself up just as Kazane finished speaking and reached out to him. The contact released a jolt into him, and he recoiled slightly; it didn't hurt, but it didn't feel like anything with which he was familiar. And when the manakete looked at the beastmage, she looked just as surprised as he felt...or a little more. Surprise could be dulled very easily by a little thing called stress, it seemed.
He looked up at his companions, feeling a little less scared now. Had he...somehow managed to avoid being discovered? How did that work? For once, he had made himself obvious--accidentally--done nothing to hide what he was--accidentally--and...nobody was screaming at him or attacking him or calling the nearest authority with a weapon. Or human with a weapon in general; humans seemed remarkably well-armed for odd situations...
Anyway, Elias was indeed the one making strange noises, shoving his hands into his face and making nonsense sounds. Aeros honestly couldn't figure out why, but knew better than to pay too much attention to it; there were always certain attributes of people (some over-arching) that were best left unexplored. Kazane, on the other hand, was still looking tense, shocked, and...almost expectant...oh.
She had asked him a question again. Those were starting to become a problem.
"I'm fi-" No. He stopped himself, because he wasn't exactly fine this time. "I...don't know." Feeling like he had static arcing over his skin, the manakete carefully finished straightening himself, looking down at the dragonstone again. Never before had it really betrayed him like this. Why had he never realized how much power it...he...they(?) contained?
And what if he really couldn't control it?

As soon as she realized that Aeros was ok, or at least not collapsing on the ground in fits of grunts and other odd noises, she turned her attention to the member of the group who did fit that description. She moved over to the Crimson Mage, standing with her back to the sun to provide some shade for the poor man. [blue]"Elias? Are you going to be ok?"[/blue] She asked him softly. She wasn't sure what else she could do for him at this point, curing blindness by sudden light wasn't exactly the purview of any magic she was familiar with. Still, one thing seemed certain.
[blue]"I think there has been enough delving into this for now. It is still a few hours until it gets dark, so perhaps it would be best to pack up from this quick lunch and continue on. You mentioned you were going to F..Fariy? That city in Lycia, I still have trouble with all the new names, right?"[/blue] She spoke quietly to the pair of them. Elias' ears were likely fine, but it felt more appropriate to speak in a soothing tone to him while he was recovering from the shock. The poor mage, he must have been looking right at the stone.
[blue]"Well, perhaps we could travel together then? I'm a bit curious about all the...magical mysteries we seem to have stumbled on to, and it's much better then traveling alone!"[/blue]

Argh, stupid stupid stupid. Stupid stupid Elias! Stupid magical rock thing! His hands clenched into painful fists while his knuckles burned white hot just as his eyes. His face wet from all the water he futilely made to help himself see, and he was still not even able to open his sealed vision. Maybe it was a natural reflex to such an event, but it was as if his eyelids were sealed with a vice, determined to press down in an attempt to keep his eyes from bolting out of his skull. He heard the people around him talking, but the pain he felt warped it into a sort of warbling gibberish with no rhyme or reason.
It took a few moments for him to calm down, his face still in pain but not muddling his mind with it any longer. He slowly got to his feet, was he sitting? Or did he trip or something when this began? He couldn't remember, and obviously he couldn't see. Very slowly he open one eye, using all the strength in his body to defy the still twitching body of his.
At first he was wondering if he actually opened his eye, but the breeze on the wet parts of his face seemed to support that he in fact did. He tried the other, no better. He was afraid of this, but he really really really hoped that it wasn't what happened. For whatever reason, it was as if he lost all sense of balance. He spread his legs and lowered to the ground like he was trying to brace his self.
"G-guys..." He sort of strangled out, not exactly the pinnacle of masculinity. "I'm pretty sure I'm blind." Well. That sucks.

Aeros was still trying to relax himself as Kazane turned to Elias, was still feeling jittery and out of sorts and...just...wrong. Out of everything, out of the people, the places, the memories that had recently...no, not recently, it just felt like recently...but out of all of that, he had always had his dragonstone, that source of comfort and power that he could use to defend himself or escape. It had been a constant, even with Tuatara stealing it all the time without realizing it.
(At least he still remembered Tuatara, he thought, feeling better. A little.)
But...the stone had nearly betrayed him just now. It still didn't feel like anything but a part of him--he felt a little silly now, thinking of it as anything except that--so...no. He could justify it to himself as long as he wanted; he was still scared of it. After feeling how much power it was holding back, whether stored within itself or...somewhere else, the manakete couldn't help being wary of it. There was no doubt he would need it again someday, he was unable to imagine surviving without it and the security it granted to someone so vulnerable otherwise, but...
The reveries were quick enough that he managed to catch most of what Kazane was saying this time. Fairy...Aeros had to laugh a little at that. Were these two going to butcher every name that they came across? He was glad his name was so short and easy, then, if these two were going to have that kind of trouble.
...What was wrong with Elias? The Crimson Mage(!) looked like he had just been...oh. Being in the center of that light had apparently been different than being outside of it, unless Elias was being severely over dramatic. That would certainly fit the Tuatara type; but if the mage didn't recover soon...
"G-Guys...I'm pretty sure I'm blind."
...Oh.
"A...are..." Aeros stuttered faintly before going silent. What was he going to do, what was he going to do? If he had just blinded somebody, especially somebody who had been this friendly, what was he going to do? "I...are you su..." Fumbling a little, the manakete held out the dragonstone. "Ka...Kazane. Is there anything you can do with this? Do you know any...anything about this?"
(There was a part of his mind asking why he cared. He had killed plenty of people; what was one more blind man?)
No, why shouldn't he care? Those people had all been enemies, this was a friend, or at least an ally...
(But the question wasn't why he should, it was why he did.)
He would have to come up with an answer for that, because he knew there was one. Right now, though, there was someone sitting in front of him, apparently blind because of a mistake he, Aeros, had made. "Can...you do anything, Kazane?"

Kazane eyed Elias with worry as he fumbled around. He seemed badly dazed by that...and then his announcement came and struck like a bolt of lightning.
Blind...? He was blind?
W-What? How could he...? But...
She had no idea where to even begin with this. She was not a healer like her mother, she wasn't even that skilled of a mage. Sure she had power, but her experience was weak. Aeros held out the stone to her, but she gently pushed his hand back with a shack of her head.
[blue]"I...don't know where to even start with that. It's...too dangerous for me to fool around with. It's a power that is...not of this...world..."[/blue] Her speech slowed, as she seemed to realize something. [blue]"Wait...I may actually be able to do something. If there is no answer here, perhaps...on the other side."[/blue] She sat down, guiding Elias to do the same, and gestured for Aeros to follow. She placed one hand on the rod she carried, the other one holding onto one of Elias's hands. She spoke to both of them though.
[blue]"Close your eyes, focus on just the sound of my voice."[/blue] She tried to sound strong, but she was more then a little scared. [blue]"Just relax, try to calm yourself. Feel the power flowing around you...let it envelop you."[/blue] She said, feeling the familiar sensation washing over her as she moved in the space between worlds. The connection was weak, but she finally felt the transfer stopping. Had it worked?
She peeked open her eyes, seeing the distorted world that indicated it had worked. They, the three of them, were in the Spirit World. Her appearance had shifted, but she paid no mind to that right now. She no longer had any of her wolf traits, instead looking exactly as a Evlorei would. In the Spirit Realm, ones physical appearance was based on how they subconsciously viewed themselves. Kazane had been raised as an Evlorei, so her appearance here reflected that. She did not see Elias or Aeros yet, and she knew that to be so because they still had their eyes closed. They had not formed bodies for themselves because their minds had not realized the world they had just entered.
[blue]"Open your eyes Elias, Aeros. This is a world of magic, and here your control of magic can shape reality. If you wish your eyes to open, they will."[/blue]
