No. No. Nooo... Ooh interesting, but no. Geez, where did that book go again? The red haired mage began to dig through the collections of books he had assembled, he was looking for a specific tome. To be honest it wasn't going as well as he hoped. Crossing his arms and grumbling at the pile of books he was looking at, then he suddenly remembered. He dove into the bulging bag that he had shoved several books in before, laying unrelated tomes strewn about willy nilly in a haphazard manner. Suddenly he returned from his diving into his pack holding in his hands a seemingly unrelated book. It was his fire tome, actually. He would of said "ahah!" but he was still traumatized by being shushed into a shell of his former self, so instead he mouthed the words. He sat the book down, but he wasn't completely done as he grabbed another book and took the two books along with him in a dash.
"Okay I-" He began as he walked back, but stopped. Biting his lip he hesitantly sat the two books down, and held up a finger as he slowly back up and then turned to a full dash, grabbing something form his table and rushing back in a quick spurt. It was a few pieces of parchment, a quill, and an inkwell. He sat down and dabbed the end of the quill in the uncapped inkwell and began to hastily scrawl on a piece of paper.
"I remember reading some of those terms before, but I waved them off because I was looking for information on zombies and doom wolves. Or revenants and mauthe doogs, it seems is their proper name." He wrote down hastily, surprisingly Elias' handwriting was really nice. "Especially the term 'Bael' as it were. I saw it mentioned a few times in this book here, but I had no idea what it meant and I was busy looking for answers on revenants that I didn't have time to research it. I had intended to later but that isn't the point."
Like a proper writer Elias went and started writing a new paragraph since he was starting a new topic of talk. "The more important detail, however, is that reading that book reminded me of this book my father had. He was a druid, and he had plenty of creepy tomes like this. I can't remember what the darn thing is called though, but I'm sure that if I could find it again that it would be a great help." He then took his fire tome that bore a large hole through the center as if it had been stabbed by a sword of spear or something (it was a spear, by the way) and he flipped through the pages looking for something. In one of the pictures there was a crude picture of a doom wolf, that looked like something a child would draw. It had little lines pointing to each of the parts on it, labeling and describing things. It looked as though it was drawn around the hole in the book, because he drew it in after the book had been speared. He's been using this fire tome as a sort of journal throughout his trip, which was useful since the magic withing had vanished long ago and all the pages had long since become blank. Nowadays it felt as though magic would never fade from his books, but back in the day that was a real thing to worry about. Though he was in the process of transferring his notes into a non-damaged non-magic tome, it was a slow process. Mostly because it was boring. It was on his to-do list for sure though.
"This is a picture of a doom wolf or Mauthe doog." He ripped the page out with an audible sound that would bring a cringe to any librarian. He flipped through some more pages and there was a picture of some zombie-like creature. "This is a picture of a zombie or Revenant." He ripped that page out as well. He took his fire tome back and began to leaf through the pages, then stopped. He held up his fingers again and ran off once more, coming back with a large and rolled up large piece of parchment.
He spread it out on a table near them, pinning down the corners with unnecessary books. It was a map, a surprisingly detailed one too at that. He grabbed another sheet of parchment to begin scribbling again, leaving that first one on the table so that the other people could read it. Then he stopped. Instead of writing what he wanted to say, he instead wrote a single question. "Hey, where did that one girly guy go?" He held the paper up for the other three to see.

Augustus placed yet another book back on the shelf after flipping through and climbed down again. The green haired man shifted the ladder around once more and climbed up yet again. A few more books were plucked and replaced, but finally the Druid found what he was looking for. He walked back to the table, seeing the red mage back once more and jotting away... in a Tome with a gaping hole in it? That red mage was... quite the odd one. Not like Nacht was one to speak, but then that didn't lessen the oddity of it.
"Right here." Nacht commented as he stepped into sight once more and noticed the writing. A book was tucked under his arm. He placed it on the table for all to see and started to speak again. "This was an odd one I'd found a while back. Talked about something called the "Risen". They seemed different from those types we've had of late, but if they're being connected by the names, then it's more valuable than I first thought. More whole than the Revenants or the Bonewalkers, but also animated by some unknown force. One theory was an undead Dragon, or "Dracolich" rather. Just that name and the idea sounds nasty enough." He seated himself once more as he finished his explanation, opening up the book to start reading it again.

"Give me a moment, I think I've seen something else about the undead elsewhere." The man with the unkempt hair said before he got up and left to go look for something.
"Okay I-" Was all the red man got out before he started taking out things, flipping through them, and writing things down. He then got out a big piece of parchment and pinning it down, started writing in it, when he was apparently done he held it up for all to see.
Bythen the man with unkempt hair had gotten back. "Right here, this was an odd one I'd found a while back. Just that name and the idea sounds nasty enough." He said as he sat down and opened up a book.
"Hm, that's quite interesting." Edrick said, handing the tome he had already read to the red man. "Here, this book also tells about some of the relations between these monsters and elder magic, but it is not what I was looking for, maybe it would be of some use to you?"

Interesting thought Oya as he started to copy down the material the red mage had noted. These men seemed more skilled at navigating through this library than he was, and it helped that they were already here. Oya had just arrived recently and had no prier knowledge from books and topic to add. The very fact gnawed at him. He knew that dark magic had something to do with the undead and zombies, but had very little knowledge on the subject exactly. The books from Nabata were not of the best quality and many of his collection came from sailors. Sailors were not know for studying of magic. However he did remember hearing many tales of ghost ships and dead sailor bones attacking people.
Oya stopped for a moment and open his large bag. He moved his knife and pulled out a old book he pillaged from a sinking ship. There was a yellow marker sticking out that marked the section that spoke of the legends. Torn sails and moving piles of bones, there was no mistaking it these skeleton warriors of legend were the same as the Bonewalkers.
“There are a couple of pirate legends”, spoke Oya joining into the conversation. “These legends tell of ships that sail on the ocean with torn sails and crews made of bones. These Bonewalkers , their name according to the book, were said to be sail the ocean better than many sailors and fight with the ferocity of the greatest warrior. However in every legend and written report about them there was always a white mist that appeared before they struck. I am not sure if the mist caused the ship, or the ship caused the mist, but there seems to be a connection. Where there any environmental changes when any of the other monsters appear?”

Elias began to wave his hands around as everyone began to talk, several people at once actually, and it seemed like everyone had information to add (which they clearly did not have five minutes ago) even though they had absolutely no information a minute ago. It was like that guy with the incredible hair unstopped a bottle or something and all of a sudden everything was just gooshing out. Of course that didn't matter, what was concerning his was how loud everyone was being about it. It got to a point, however, where the mage just gave up. Slumping his shoulder over with a sigh. "If you're all just gonna talk anyways, what was the point in me writing everything..." He said, pouting a bit. It didn't much matter, but still it was kind of annoying. Instead he should be happy, happy for all the information that just popped out of nowhere. Information he could use, and information clearly relevant to his topic of interest. So he picked his self up with a big ole Elias trademarked smile and turned back to the large map he had spread out on the other table.
"Alright, according to this information you're all giving me... And reports and rumors I've heard..." He took out a few pins and put them in the map in several different areas. Laus. Ostia. Ilia. Bern. Sacae. He hesitated before putting one in Etruria though, he was... unsure about that one. "These are the places that monsters have been sighted." He took another pin an put it in the sea near the western isles. "There may be monsters in the sea, ghost ships as just been said." He took a step back and crossed his arms with a short of crooked look on his face. The pins he used were of all different colors. Red pins, blue pins, green pins. The red pins were in the areas that were the first to report creatures, the blue ones came later, and the green ones were places where it was only rumored. It showed the spread of the creatures even if he didn't really explain his logic. He had a yellow pin in Etruria which was basically just a "?" for all intents and purposes. It was so close to Ostia, but it was so hard to get any info about that place.
"Hrm.." He picked up that book that the other man offered him and gave it a cursory glance, he ripped a strip of paper off of the parchment he was going to write with, until that was revealed to be pointless, and stuck it in the book. He repeated it a few times, putting more paper in it. "Interesting, I'll have to get back to it later." Magic theory it may be, but magic theory was super interesting.
"Now then, I have more information about them, but not what I need." He muttered quietly to his self. "What they are outside of monsters, how they work, what created them or creates them, how to stop it from happening, the important bits are missing..." He tapped his foot lightly as his mind raced, piecing together information. "Since they appear in history texts, they aren't a recent occurrence. They've existed before, and they've been stopped before. However information on them is still limited... it was almost as if no one really knew. Of course that's how it always goes isn't it." He made a quiet humming noise, tilting his head back and forth. He didn't know if those other people were interested, but Elias definitely was. "I should look into heroes, legends, folklore. If there's no official stating, maybe I can find it unofficially. Heroes that slay monsters are a gold a dozen, but who's to say there isn't truth to these tales?" He nodded to his self. "And look in the Doctrine of the Church of Elmine." He almost cringed when he said that, blech, left a bad taste in his mouth. Elmine was cool and all, but her followers were so crazy.
He picked his head up and looked at the group of people, smiling with a wide grin. "Thank you all so much for your help." He almost laughed as he spoke in such a cheerful tone. He stayed hushed, to spare him the ire of the almighty librarian, but unlike before he spoke loud enough for the others to easily hear. "I've gotten so much info." Not enough, but a great start. Maybe after he was done with these books it was time for a little field trip, they weren't that far from Laus...

Upon reading his findings everybody ran off in different directions grabbing books of all sorts, Reid folded his arms sorta. Holding his right elbow in his left hand he had his right hand on his chin stroking it with his thumb. The man in red started to write stuff down as pages began to fly in multiple books, it wasn't long before everybody began to speak almost at once. Reid's gaze made it's way to the ground as he took five steps forward, spun on his heel and repeated that process. "Perhaps..." No, that couldn't be a possibility, actually yes it could. "Actually the book that I just shared with you gentlemen, and lass, is the one I'm currently writing. I had wrote a majority of it from bits and pieces of journals I came across. Most of them had seen much better days, pages torn, burned, faded, ink smeared, and to similar effects. While I haven't had a proper chance to study what may be present day Bonewalkers so this may sound far fetched but, let's assume since they're walking skeletons or were described as so they don't simply just die. What if, no that wouldn't make sense." Reid had a thought that what if the ghost ship was filled with Bonewalkers from the period those journals were from, but that leads to another mystery of how did they survive this long. Reid stopped pacing and pulled out the chair across from Edrick and sat down reaching for the book.
His main goal today was to research the Ending Winter and magic, but thiey were talking about was a subject that was current. It was quite possible if they made a break through he could write a book about it and share their collective knowledge with future generations such many of the authors who's books filled this library. "Hold that thought for a moment." Reid began to skim the book the man had held out.

"I should look into heroes, legends, folklore. If there's no official stating, maybe I can find it unofficially. Heroes that slay monsters are a gold a dozen, but who's to say there isn't truth to these tales? And look in the Doctrine of the Church of Elmine." The red man said after taking Edrick's book. " The Doctrine of Elmine? What would you like to know? I've been around it so I'm pretty familiar with it." Edrick replied.
"Perhaps... Actually the book that I just shared with you gentlemen, and lass, is the one I'm currently writing. I had wrote a majority of it from bits and pieces of journals I came across. What if, no that wouldn't make sense. The man said before sitting down across the table from Edrick while grabbing the book that he had wrote. "Hm, so you actually wrote that? How long did it take you to actually gather all of that information?" Erick inquired as he cocked one of his eyebrows. "I truthfully would like to go out and study them in person, but that's a lot harder than it seems and most people just aren't willing to go."

Nacht finished reading up the book he had found and allowed another to claim it for a read. He'd jotted down notes once more, but it was all theories and notes on the strengths and weaknesses of the "Risen", nothing that presented hard evidence on how they came to be or even if they had some kind of leadership that guided them. No, they just seemed to be ravenous beasts as the Monsters of today were.
He tapped a finger in thought as Elias placed a number of pins on a map of Elibe. Judging by the order of how he placed them, he assumed the Red ones marked the first sightings and the blue ones the following sights. The green ones were... rumors, perhaps? Seemed fitting. Though he wasn't sure of that yellow pin. Denoting where they hadn't been sighted? He doubted it was a coincidence that pin marked Etruria. Come to think of it, he'd not heard of a single monster sighting in the northern country. Something there that kept them down perhaps?
He tapped his fingers as a whole now, contemplating.
"I think... That Etruria must have something that keeps the Monsters down. I haven't even heard of a single sighting there. I doubt this is a coincidence, but what could Etruria have that others don't?" Well, there was that Tower of The Saint or whatever, but that was just a piece of architecture, wasn't it?
His fingers stopped tapping all at once.
"Perhaps... We should visit the ruins of Ostia to investigate?"

“I am going to have to agree with the creepy green hair man”, spoke Oya. He then turned to Natch and rose his hands. “No offense sir. I just never caught your name and had no better way to describe you.” He then quickly shifted back to the topic in order to dig himself out of the hole he just made.
“I say our best luck is to actually get knowledge form the field. No better resource than our own eyes and ears no. Though I have to admit I don’t have much knowledge about roads here in Lycia.”

"So you're writing a book? Hrm, maybe I should write a book if it gets me primo info like that." Elias rubbed his chin with a small grin. A sort of mischievous glint in his eyes, but it died as quickly as it came. Bah, writing books was so boring, Elias grumbled. He could barely keep his notes together, and trying to transfer them was an exercise in his limited patience. He loved to research, but the whole 'assembling your findings together in a form comprehensible to other intelligent lifeforms' part gave him some trouble. His mind always raced fast then his fingers and he'd get ahead of himself and all confused. Still it was a nice end goal one day, he was going to write a book before he died. That much he promised to his self. "To be fair though, I don't think ANYONE has studied bonewalkers. Mostly 'cuz there aren't just hanging around." It did merit further looking in to though, if these bonewalkers were real, they might be related to the other monsters that were plaguing the land. "So don't get hard on yourself there guy." The red mage made a cool guy thumbs up gesture, winking one eye to assuage the shaman. Geez there was a lot of Elder magic users around here, it might make an anima mage like him a little nervous. Y'know, if he wasn't so busy being incredible instead.
Elias looked at the other shaman, okay this was a little silly. He had to name them. The cloaked guy can be tallboy because he was way too tall, seriously. The green haired dude can be ladyface, because he had a ladyface. The last shaman can be coolguy, because he had awesome hair. So Tallboy mentioned he knew a lot about the doctrine of Elmine, which was useful. "Well I'd probably be more comfortable if I read it." Eeeeewwwww, it was gross to even think about. "There's a lot of things that sound like one thing but are actually another thing and it's really confusing and if I asked you what was in it it might not be what was in it but actually what was in it even though that wasn't what it was." He crossed his arms and nodded with a small 'hmph' it made complete sense to him.
"I'm looking for information on monsters, which we've covered, and Elmine's doctrine is one of the oldest texts in the world. Constantly changing, being rewritten, all that good stuff. So if there is information on monsters, there's a chance I might be able to find something about it inside one of the older revisions." That was one lead. "They say that those who have trained under the church of Elmine have the ability to slay the unholy aberrations with little struggle, which is a bit interesting. Maybe they know something." Then he nodded again. He added a small shrug to his wide grin. "There's the whole deal of Etruria's strange defenses against the monsters, and considering they're the religious capital of the world, it's unlikely that's simply a coincidence. I believe that there's some kind of connection of these creatures and the church. Kraft rose to power saying that there was some sort of calamity coming, perhaps this is that calamity. Or... something worse is coming. Or he's a crazy coot, who knows?" He finished with a shrug.
"I was just thinking of a field trip!" He held out a finger with a wide grin, looking at ladyface. "I've actually been to the ruins of Ostia. Several times. I was there when it 'Kabloosh'ed." He held his hands together and slowly spread them apart making a childish sound in the process. His face then slowly took a somewhat disgusted look as remembered a bit more. Wow he's been to Ostia way more then any person should. There laid the ruins of scrying, perhaps he should revisit it some time? Assuming it doesn't make his all 'wahh wahh' again, since he kicked it's ass last time though maybe he'll just make it through? And Valorian was able to use that and this staff to teleport anywhere, maybe that would be useful? Maybe... He could use it to get into Etruria? Ugh. That place. How does he keep getting dragged back to that place?
"So..." The mage began, pulling out a fifth pin, purple this time. He placed them in a few different places. "Ostia, ghost pirate ships in the western seas, and Etruria. They all seem like good places to go." There was also Elias' father, whom the mage believed would be a boon. The problem was he had no idea where he could possibly be. They were lucky that librarian was gone, because they were being kinda loud about now.

Reid was tapping his fingers on his left hand as he quickly skimmed pages and listened to the conversation around him. There was talk about going out and investigating Ostia(which was his original plan), Etruria, and the western seas. He then slammed the boom shut, digging inside the sea of text can wait, it has always been there so it would remain so after their field trip of knowledge. "I was able to read journals of the people of the past Elibe for many years, personally I find them a better source of information than 'official' text. There is less censorship and more insight in how people lived in that age. I had multiple sets of books filled with information I noted while reading them, instead of lugging all of them around I converted them into one smaller book which I plan on donating to an establishment such as this one. This is the first in many volumes I hope to be able to write, I am also trying to discover origins of magic in general but it seems to out date any book I had read so far." Reid then slide the chair out and walked to the map the man in red had laid out. He studied it crouched over for a couple of minutes considering all of the facts they have at hand at the moment. He then returned back to his pacing with his right hand on his chin stroking it with his thumb. "Laus... Ostia... Etruria... The Western Sea... We shouldn't pick one location and study it, if we're to learn anything it would be best if we covered all grounds, to save time we would travel to the nearest location to where we currently are and do our research there and move on." He then stopped in front of the group, turned to face them and stuck out his right hand for whoever was willing to shake it first. "I, Reid Quinn, would be honored to join you gentleman, and lass, on this expatiation of knowledge."

The two redheads talked of going out and seeing all the sights, not just Ostia. And really, Nacht had to agree. To truly grasp the situation of these Monsters, they'd need to see all of the sights they could. Besides, if he hoped to manipulate them to his advantage at all, he needed these other fellows to help in his research. It looked like he was going to be stuck with these fellows for a time, but he hoped it would prove rather fruitful still.
"I, Reid Quinn, would be honored to join you gentleman, and lass, on this expatiation of knowledge."
Nacht took the oustretched hand and shook it with a firm grip. "Gustavus Nacht. Let us make this expedition a fruitful one, gentlemen and lady!" He let the hand go, preparing himself to shake with others at the table.

"Yes, but finding reliable journals of people who have actually experienced the things we are trying to study is a trying test in patience." Elias shrugged with a sigh. He looked at coolguy with a bit of a crooked look on his face. "I agree that the doctrine has likely been changed, censored, and rewritten completely countless times. That's why I'm hoping to find an earlier copy, one that hadn't been quite so harshley censored perhaps. I mean if these monsters had appeared before, it's likely that the church had some way of combating them, something that they would have recorded if we're lucky. I mean if I was a bishop and monsters were eating people and junk, I'd want people to know that turning to and trusting Elmine is the path to salvation. Which leads me to believe that they might have information somewhere." He added, crossing his arms and tapping his foot lightly. The quiet 'taptap' echoing the spacious library. "Of course it's probably just a wild goose chase, but when that's all you have you can't be picky."
He turned back to his map and began to trail his pointer finger across the leathery parchment. He started where they were and stopped a moment. Would it be better to go to Ostia then Laus? Or go to Laus then Ostia then back to Laus to catch a boat? They couldn't waltz into Etruria from Ostia, their border is too heavily guarded. It was worth a thought. "So closest would be Laus, then Ostia... Then likely we'll need to take a ship to the western isles anyways to get into Etruria. Their border between Ostia and Etruria is heavily fortified. I hear that taking a ship to the Western isles then to Etruria is a reliable path, as long as you have the gold. They don't ask a lot of questions there, they just take you where you need to go." He remembered the ruins of scrying again. If he used that, he could teleport all of them to Etruria with his staff... but there was the very real chance that he couldn't replicate what Valorian did. Also it would probably rape their minds. Also he wasn't entirely sure he wanted to take them their, it was kind of a special place. Maybe that made Elias selfish. Ugh. That wasn't very righteous. He'd have to donate to charity later.
"Well then, looks like we're in business complete strangers." He raised a fist in the air triumphantly with a wide smile. "I'm Elias th-" He began to rattle off like second nature, but caught his self early, his voice suddenly cutting off like it had broke or something. He cleared his throat and returned to his smile. "I'm Elias. Elias Root... Wait... no. No that's not right, it's Elias Kutald now." Wow that's been a while since he actually used his last name. He actually forgot it for a second. At first he said Root, but the he remembered that wasn't it 'Elias Kutald' now? Y'know since he reconciled with his folks and everything? Oh well. Either's fine really. "I forgot I recently had it changed. My bad." He chuckled, scratching the back of his head.
Everyone was shaking hands and stuff but ew, Elias didn't want to do that. So Coolguy, Ladyface, Tallboy, and Girl. He pushed his hands together, bringing his index fingers up and holding them there like he was trying to mimic some kind of futuristic shoot-bang thing. He pointed his finger at the first guy. "Edrick." Then the next. "Gustavus." Then coolguy. "Reid." And finally at girl. "Mimi." He grinned once more. "Nice to meet you a-."
"SHHHH!" AH!
The old man looked rather upset. "If all of you can't keep quiet, then get out." Wow, some people were just so inconsiderate sometimes.
"I guess we'd better go." Elias muttered like a beaten puppy as he sheepishly gathered his stuff back together and upinned his map, rolling the parchment up. Still he was excited all the same, what kind of adventures were ahead of them? What kinda of secrets would they uncover?
