Still keeping their battle of trading blow for blow, Veigue felt his vision blur slightly. It was likely due to the blood loss, and he didn't know how much longer he could bare the pain in his chest and shoulder while still maintaining all this movement. He could feel his chest wound getting worse with each passing moment...however, he couldn't stop. He couldn't afford to. Looking at his opponent, it's obvious the undead man was having difficulty keeping up as well, but unlike Veigue, he's already dead. Naturally, Veigue would tire out before his opponent's wounds would drop him. It was somewhat of a harsh reality of the situation, and the more Veigue thought about it, the less power Veigue could place behind his strikes. It wasn't like him to lose confidence, but this may have been another moment he had to stare death in the face. He's really got to stop doing that, but it doesn't matter if he actually died this time...
But Mana's charge made the undead lose focus, and that's when Veigue's eyes widened a little. There was his chance, and he was not going to pass it up. His sword was able to push the enemy's broadsword out of the way, and with a momentary shout escaping the sacaean, he brought his blade down with a vertical strike with all his might, managing to slice and tear through the undead's sword arm...literally. Not caring much for his level of brutality at this point, Veigue didn't look at the fallen arm as he gripped his sword and sheath tightly. He wildly swung both in rapid succession, though there was still control and precision in his movements, striking as many vital points as he could to completely stun the undead warrior. Even without it's arm, it was still a threat.
The undead dropped to it's knees as Veigue saw his opening to end it clearly. He dropped his sheath in the heat of the moment and gripped his sword with both hands, dashing past the undead at an impressive speed while he swung his sword horizontally. Within that single moment, the decapitation occurred as the enemy's head flew a good distance away from the body. Veigue stayed there for the moment, teeth grit and hoping that it was over. He knew he sliced through, but only realized he was successful in the kill when he looked over his shoulder. A silent sigh of relief immediately escaped him.
If Mana didn't distract it for that second, Veigue was probably going to be the one dead on the ground. Whether it was intentional or not, he owed the fellow plainswoman for the assist. However, he couldn't speak for the moment as he was trying to take what just happened in, and also finally feeling the consequences of all that movement in his condition. Keeping a strong mind, Veigue still managed to remain on his feet. Perhaps out of sheer willpower or just out of natural stubbornness.

She panted for breath, leaning against her staff planted firmly in the ground. Her breathing was rough, labored. Those injuries she took earlier still stuck with her. She stopped them from being life threatening, but they were still there, severe. Even with magic she couldn't completely heal herself so quickly, she needed rest. To close her weary eyes, to let darkness take over for a few sweet hours, her worries melting away for a short time. No monster, no chaos, where she can be with her father again in a free Etruria, like that hiding in her deepest memories. It sounds so nice, soothing right now. Her body felt heavy, her eyes heavier as the rush of adrenaline that kept her going began to dwindle away with the death of that creature. Yes it would be so easy to just sleep, for a little bit, truly she's deserved that much right?
She couldn't. She strained her eyes awake, like a jolt hit her, forcing herself awake and attentive to the world about her. Now was not the time, how could she even entertained letting the dark take her for even a few sweet moments when it ran rampant all around her? She would not yield, not now. She pushed herself to move, and against it's wishes her body responded. She walked towards Veigue, the swordsman who was forced to fight that monstrosity alone. A pang of guilt twinged in her heart, if she hadn't been so weak she might not have needed Mana's help with the other creature, she could have assisted with the lumbering brute. He was injured, a failure on her part, but not one to dwell on. She was grateful that he survived in the end, they all did.
She walked over, using her staff as a sort of walking stick, putting her weight upon it to lessen the stress on her poor exhausted legs. She smiled at him warmly. She could tell he was in pain, that wound was nasty, she was amazed he was yet on his feet. Then again she shouldn't have been on her feet herself, this man had a strong will and discipline to keep pushing on even in his condition. "Stay still, let me help you." She said, trying to sound calm but was a bit out of breath herself. She closed her eyes, taking in a deep breath and holding her staff in hand. A warm light, soothing, caressing, it filtered from the gleaming gem adorning the wooden rod, as it flowed from her to him. The light dancing around the wounds he received, mending the flesh beneath, knitting sinew and muscle and stitching skin together atop it all. Her eyes winced in what could be pain, or maybe just exhaustion, but she said not a word and instead continued to heal his wounds to the best of her ability. They weren't gone, not completely, that required a bit more treatment then a battlefield heal is generally capable of, it would take a bit more time and focus that she wasn't sure either of them could afford right now, but the worst of it should be passed now.
She let out a slow breath, as if she had held it in all this time, bringing her staff back down. "I'm... sorry I wasn't able to help more." She said with tired eyes, she could see the exhaustion in his eyes as well. No doubt Mana was feeling it herself. She truly hoped the worst was over for now.

Mana stopped her charge when Veigue finally ended his opponent's misery and free it from the curse. They might be in the battlefield and the battle was still going on but for now the swordswoman wanted to savor this small victory. Those two strange zombies were very troublesome. If the undead mob had something like rank then those two would probably be at Captain or General rank. Fighting those two had drained her stamina, maybe even more than half of her tank. "I really need second wind right now..." Maybe because Veigue was still standing despite his worse injuries, Mana refused the let the tiredness from making her drop her knees, typical Sacaen pride.
It might need some more time for the battle to end but the goddess of war was on humanity side this time. Looking at the battlefield, the Silver Cross army had gained the upper hand despite being outnumbered. Tactic, intelligence, and will to live had proved to be superior and beaten the sheer number of the cursed army. The cost was high, maybe too high, but it was something the guild was ready to pay. Slowly but surely, the dead walkers were pushed back. However, they had no fear and they wouldn't retreat, which forced a total annihilation of the undead and more losses for Silver Cross soldiers. A very frightening opponent, indeed.
The girl couldn't ignore the fact that they were surrounded by the corpses of their fallen allies. What a sacrifice they had made today! Closing her eyes, she offered a prayer for the dead, the last and only thing she could do to respect the brave warriors.
The girl opened her eyes and then looked at her friends. "Somehow we got out of that alive...Not too bad for our first battle together, huh?" Mana still had some breath left to make a wide smile. She then approached Iadra and Veigue. They did accomplish something great today. They probably had fought the toughest monsters in this horde. Injured and extremely exhausted, but they had got the job done. "And it seems we can take a little rest for a while...until we are needed again..." she said as she sheathed her swords.

Veigue didn't say anything at first, allowing Iadra to focus on healing. Though he could tell the woman was extremely fatigued, and that made him feel bad for her going out of her way to heal wounds that he should have been able to prevent. But it seemed the worst of the pain had subsided. The injures and pain were still there, but the excessive bleed had finally stopped. He probably still couldn't move around too much, but at least he's no longer on the brink of death. "...Much appreciated." He rarely if ever received healing from a staff, used to patching up his own wounds the old-fashioned way. The light was unusually warm, but it soon left a great calm in his mind.
"No need for apologies. You've done a lot for us already. This all seems to be taking it's toll on you, though. It seems like the battle's almost over now, so you should rest up." With a brief returning smile, Veigue immediately looked around the battlefield, having mixed feelings about it all. Corpses were everywhere, both undead and allies alike. However, the majority of them were on the enemy's side, which was better than nothing. He was honestly impressed with the fighting prowess of Silver Cross if they could handle being outnumbered and have only a small amount of casualties. Not to mention they were fighting zombies and stuff. Either they all had some form of military training, or they were just that good. Though the guild did seemed to be of a mixed group. All types of fighters, and that was a good thing.
Sheathing his blade the moment Mana came near, Veigue nodded his head as the worst seemed to be over. "This went a little better than I expected it to go. It seems like the others already have a strong push on the enemies now to not need our assistance. I'm not sure how much help I'd be in my condition right now, regardless." It was shameful to admit, but he had to accept when he's reached his limit from time to time. Especially to make sure he didn't lose his head, or got someone else in danger. He only fought with those grievous wounds before being healed due to an adrenaline rush. He wouldn't be able to do that again without tearing his mending wounds open again and falling flat...

"It has taken a great toll on us all." She replied, she could see the weariness in Veigue's eyes, the subtle sluggishness of Mana's movements. Momentary hesitations that betrayed their bravado, as one who heals many these little signs are a bit more apparent to her. She was no stranger herself to closing her eyes and insisting she can carry on, it seems ones fighting spirit often times overwhelms one's good sense. It was just difficult to stay back when you know that you could help if only you weren't so fatigued. To admit weakness was not a thing one should do, but a proper lady should know her own limits. However one could argue a proper lady doesn't march unto the field of battle wielding a magical staff and heavenly light, to fight hordes of abominations. There are certain definitions of 'lady' she chooses to ignore. "But you're right." She spoke up, drawing her staff back to herself, tired but still calmly smiling. "I do need to rest, I shall be able to do more later if I rest now. Otherwise exhaustion will take it's toll and cause me to make fatal errors." She explained it in a logical fashion. To be her best, she must put her pride aside.
"I'm going to..." She began, slowly lowering herself to the ground. "Just sit for a few moments, if that's alright with you all." She said as she sat on the earth below, she probably should have made an effort to sit in the proper way or to stay on her feet, but right now she wasn't too concerned about that. She took in a deep breath, through the nose and out the mouth, the foul stench in the air sticking to the back of her tongue. They survived for certain, and the battle seems to be one, but it would do to not become complacent. Even if it would be so nice and simple to close her eyes now, close them and drift to sleep, she forced herself to stay awake and alert.
"In all my campaigns..." She began, speaking aloud. "I don't think I've ever scraped so close to death as I have this day. I have seen undead like that before. Aboriginal creatures, more human then most, an unnatural bestial intelligence that should have long left them. Possessing strength that should have long since rotted away. Monsters in the truest sense of the word." She looked out to the battle, turning her head and casting a glance with tired eyes. "I do not think we'll run into more, rarely do you see such beings more then once a battle. The fact there were two this time... unprecedented." That scream... the howling yowl of pain and fury. It stuck with her, in her mind, she still heard it. It haunted her, the undead do not feel. They do not fear. Their minds are long gone but to think that was once a person. That it was once someone, screaming, crying, begging in pain as they are forced to move to someone else's will unable to properly rest, their very soul snatched from the side of Elmine herself. It wasn't comforting. She hoped that that creature could now finally rest in pierce, the darkness of it purified by the light of heaven.

Mana only smiled weakly when Iadra asked for their permission to sit. To be honest, sitting sounded like a very good idea for now. Stupid pride! The Sacaen girl decided to stop being so childish and let those tired knees fall. She slumped onto the ground and looked comfortable when her head rested on the ground. "Just what I need," she muttered. In normal circumstances, this field would be the worst place to rest because the air smelt like death itself and dead bodies were everywhere. Although, those things could be easily forgotten when people felt exhausted, just like the three heroes who didn't mind resting in this foul place.
"I don't want to imagine what if there were more of those demons...Although I am sure we would have won again..." The unnatural undead would be tough opponent, especially if there were more than two of them. Mana, with her unshaken confidence, believed they could still win the battle but chose to hope they wouldn't have to encounter those strong abominations again. The cost might be higher next time, after all. "Lets hope they won't ask for rematch," she said, chuckling. The girl hoped the joke would help ease their tired body and mind a little.
Soon, the three exhausted heroes found themselves almost in the back line as the Silver Cross forces pushed even further, finishing every single undead left in the battlefield. Because the battle was nearing the end and the victor was already clear, the soldiers were simply "cleaning" the leftover. Arrows and light magic weakened the enemies from the distance while the fighters rushed forward. It was when the last undead's head was beheaded that the victory cry filled the battlefield.
"It seems our work is done. I hope they have warm meal waiting for us in the HQ..." Mana whispered to her friends. "You know...we, and everyone here, deserve at least that much..."

"Of course." Veigue nodded, knowing that it was completely understandable for Iadra to want to rest after that ordeal. He was too busy with his opponent earlier, but just telling from her fatigue and the overall shape she was in, she suffered a very terrible wound from that agile opponent of theirs. Patched up by her staff, no less. If only they all weren't separated during the two of the elite undead warriors, perhaps neither of them wouldn't be so injured. But he made sure to keep the big guy away from Mana and Iadra, as he was sure the two of those formidable opponents worked extremely well together and would have overpowered all three of them. Having experienced teamwork with Nayru, he knows exactly how powerful it could be. He was just glad he wasn't killed in his plan...otherwise, he was sure his soul would have been pulled from the dead just to hear a scolding from his friend.
When Mana came over, he could tell the battle took it's toll on her as well. Given that she was very likely more skilled than he was, it was still a bit surprising to see her in just as bad shape as the rest of them. He stayed silent for the moment as the two allies conversed, though was obviously still listening to them. But then moments later, he heard the cry of victory from afar. Given the nature of the battle and the fact that neither of them were in shape to help out much longer, he was very satisfied on the inside that the battle was finally over. This wasn't like some normal battle against an opposite army. These were enemies that simply no longer grasped the concept of "giving up" when the tables turn against them. They walking dead only walked the land to bring torment to others unwillingly as they themselves suffered. A sad truth, enough to put them out of their misery.
"This has been one tough battle, but looks like we can finally relax for good this time." Says the guy who can't force himself to drop down when he seriously needed to get off his feet. But since the battle was over, there was no need to sit down now. They were likely going to head back their HQ soon for proper treatment and rest. "...A nice, warm meal sounds quite heavenly right now." He couldn't help but comment after Mana, shamefully admitting how much he wanted to stuff his face.

"I could really use a nice hot bath right about now..." She muttered to herself, rubbing the back of her neck with a sigh. It wasn't exactly a luxury she could afford, but it sounded absolutely perfect right now. Her aching body and her aching mind were on unison with that point, but she would survive this cruel bathless world that lies before her. She smiled brightly, though tired as she was, when Mana sunk to her knees as well. It seemed she wasn't quite alone in this exhaustion that ached right down to the bone. Her soul felt weary, and her body battered, but she lived and that was cause for celebration. All three of them have, she has seen far too many good people silenced by conflict, she needed to find happiness in the times she did not have to bury a friend. Heavens be praised, Elmine be praised.
This battle had been over, won is it appeared. Clearly, for if they had lost none of them would be speaking now. She hoped their effort had helped the battle and eased the burden upon the others, it was most unlikely more of those aboriginal creatures lurked upon this battlefield, meaning that they cut the head off of the snake, to coin the color phrase. She planted the bottom of her staff upon the ground, and put her weight upon its frame. Using it like a friendly helping hand to push herself off of the ground, her legs cried and protested, but they couldn't be resting here. Not when a much more suitable place was available. She turned her head around, looking at all the corpses that laid before her. Not only those of the undead, but of those who stood against the horde and desperately fought to turn back the tide. It was saddening to see that not everyone had survived this battle, she had hoped she wouldn't have to see death today, as naive a thought it may have been.
Closing her eyes, she said a silent prayer for those fallen. That they may be guided to the light, and that the monsters they died fighting be given some semblance of peace in the world beyond. She could not allow such abominations, their very existence an insult to the heavens. It was pitiable to see these creatures, but she offered them no mercy. She opened her eyes, tired but pushing it down below. Her eyes bright, even if artificially so, she smiled. "Yes, a warm meal sounds good." She looked at the place they were heading in the distance, it seemed so far away and such a walk felt so very daunting at the moment.
Iadra offered her hand down to the Sacaen swordmistress, one who had taken the sitting a bit further then Iadra had. "Here, allow me to help you up Mana. We can walk together." She said, her hand open and inviting for her to take. She wished Veigue to walk with them as well, as she wasn't aware if they felt the same, but she wasn't sure if she could make the journey on her lonesome.

When the brave heroes returned bringing victory and glory to the town, almost all townspeople came out to greet them. Cheers and chants followed the warriors along the way toward the headquarter and made it look like a victory parade. Among the laugh and praises some people were shedding tears for the fallen, a sight that made this victory a bit bitter. But despite all the losses today, the fact that the possibly greatest danger for this town had been taken care of and the citizens could continue live their peaceful days without worries of being stormed by a horde of walking corpses, for now, at least.
After they returned to the headquarter, listened to some victory speech, and held prayer to honor the fallen heroes, everyone finally got some time to rest until the night came and the town became lively again. It might be too early to do this but somehow many people were in mood for a victory party, to celebrate their successful mission of protecting the town. Free foods and drinks were shared and some townspeople even came bringing the local products like fresh fruits or milk. "Thank you" had become the words that was spoken most often tonight, usually followed by happy tears. Not everyone were able to celebrate however, some were too injured that needed to stay in the hospital or chose to retire to their rooms early while some others who lost friends or families needed time to mourn.
Mana still felt exhausted but much better after she had received some treatment. The Sacaen girl chose to stay in the headquarter hall where the party was being held, watching her comrades who had risked their lives together with her. With her plate full with foods, she enjoyed the party in a peaceful silence in one corner of the room. It wasn't because she was anti-social that the black-haired swordswoman distanced herself from the others but things had been pretty hectic for her, Veigue, and Iadra after the battle. She just wanted to avoid getting crushed by the attention of their new fans. Their heroic battle against the abnormal revenants didn't go unnoticed by the other fighters. Some had watched and felt amazed by how those three triumphed against such powerful monsters. Admiration, gratitude, and even presents came like a flood to the three heroes. For Mana who always had problem with attention directed toward her, it was much tougher than facing the undead.
The girl managed to escape the crowds but she didn't know about the others. Her eyes scanned the room looking for Veigue and Iadra as she relaxed on her chair and ate Lycian macaroni with delighted expression. "This tastes very good..." she thought.

...When he thought of a celebration party, he just imagined coming back to the headquarters the way they left it earlier, buuuut...bam. The place was packed with so many people that Veigue was honestly thinking he was getting claustrophobic. With his wounds patched up and still within the recovery phase, Veigue technically should have been one of the people that should have been resting in bed right now...but good ol' stubborn Veggie had to stand and not allow himself to succumb to weakness. After all, the best medicine for pain was...more pain! Well, not really, but you get the point. His jacket and undershirt were ruined with tears and blood stains, but were currently being stitched back up and cleaned by one of the places' nurses who knew how to sow, having a white long sleeved shirt on given to him so no one could see his scarred body. He just settled for leaning on the wall in a far corner of the room alone and away from all the celebrations. He didn't want to ruin anyone's good time with his lack of social interaction skills.
But at the same time, he'd rather be a spectator anyway. It was good to see most of the people become joyous over their much deserved victory...those who had the luxury to do so compared to those who had to respectfully mourn for their loved ones that passed from the struggle. War was a terrible thing, whether it was against other humans, undead, or whatever. Lives were always expected to be lost, but it always hurt people the more when those lives were their own family member, beloved spouse or even their child. He just wished for the best for those who lost someone today and silently sighed.
Mana seemed to catch his attention when he saw her scanning the area. He simply wasn't going to bother her until he realized the crowd of people within the place was getting bigger, and his little corner of solitude was quickly about to be occupied without his approval. Not knowing what else to do, he just quickly, but calmly got off the wall and away from the approaching people. Mana's spot seemed to be nice and quiet. He'd hate to steal her spot of solitude, but it was either go over there or get boxed in with a bunch of people. Yeeep, he knew what he was going for. As such, he immediately took a seat across from her as he may or may not have appeared of out nowhere from Mana's perspective. He was looking over towards his previous spot, not really saying anything to Mana just yet as his eyes narrowed out of a bit of disappointment towards himself and his disliking for crowds.
