I was born as a child in Ilia, became a man in Bern... C'mon, come to the village with me and we'll get you patched up. he'd motion towards the east, knowing by the setting sun that the opposite direction led to the village.
They may even pay you for helping me take these things out. He'd grin, talking optimistically friendly. He liked the boy's fire, he had the spirit of a warrior trapped inside such a young frame. In a few years time, who knows what this kid could accomplish. If the boy chose to come with him, he'd give him a few points of advice so he'd have a better chance at a successful future.

Samuali looked at the grin on Marric's face and felt oddly happy. Samuali had never traveled with anyone before, well, no human before. After what he had just went through he knew he needed to take whatever help he could.
"Sure I will come for you but remember, the score is 2 to 1." Samuali said with a small chuckle.

Yeah, but you should think about what the score would have been had i not been here... He'd laugh and walk up a rather large dune toward the east. The sun fell quickly, and soon night was upon them. The lights from the village became clear as they walked, and during the short journey Marric provided a few tips to the young spear fighter.
I saw a bit of your fighting... When you thrust your spear like you did, don't put your stance so far into it that you cannot recover. On the other end of things... They continued walking, Marric providing a few more tips on how to redirect the boy's stance and how to put more power behind an attack without having to be very strong.
Its all in how you move. When i swing my axe, i put all my weight behind it, sure, but a proper thrust rotating your center with it will pack a heavier punch than only trying to hit hard.
As they entered the village a bearded elder walked up to Marric, shaking his hand graciously and asking who the boy was. Marric provided the information and gave the elder three large paws he had cut from the dead beasts he and the boy had slain. The elder was excited to hear that they had killed the beasts plaguing the small village, and horrified to learn there had been more than one. Adding to the old man's horror, Marric told him they were injured. The man promptly called for his daughters and their daughters to take the pair of bloodied, and sand covered companions into their homes to be treated.
After being tended to, the two were given a room to rest in and new clothes while the man's daughters stitched their old ones up.
Well kid, big day... How'd you like them girls eh? Marric chuckled, laying facing the roof of the small room, content in his treatment and success of another job.
~Father would be proud...~

"well kind, big day... How'd you like them girls eh?"
Big day, that was quite an understatement. He had his life almost lost many times today. Samuali looked at his savior, Marric. He saved him and had taught him many things today; and Samuali knew he could still learn more.
"the girls? They were nice, i guess." Samuali said with a slight blush. He was not used being touched, much less by fair maidens. He sat down, getting read to sleep. He looked at the desert outside and remembered his promise.
~I am on my way now. I will make you proud.~

Don't be so humble boy... I saw the youngest lass take a liking to ya'! He'd snicker and roll over.
In any case get some rest, i'll train you a bit tomorrow if ya'd like. With that, Marric promptly fell asleep; his quiet snoring would indicate as much.
In the morning the two would given their gear and MArric was paid for killing the beast, and a bit extra for the other two. He shared the take with the boy, and brought him to a relatively open area to train.
Alright, so ya' wanted to train did you?

Alright, so ya' wanted to train did you?
Samuali was asked by Marric.
"I think you already know the answer to that!" Yelled Samuali as he finished screwing on a dummy tip to his spear.

Marric had no dummy axe. He'd look around for something similar and found a thick branch of wood to substitute. Hefting the substitute axe up he'd give Samuali a few more tips.
Now, remember against an axe fighter, lance users have a disadvantage. However, unless you're wearing a wall of armour any lancer will normally be faster. He'd pause and give a few words on how to correct the lad's stance before continuing on with his original monologue.
Against a scrawny thing like me, however, you don't have the speed edge. When an opponent is much more skilled that you are, me for instance, ya' gotta use your head more than your brawn, Understand?

"Right, I see..." Samuali said as he fixed his stance. "so i need to look for ways to create and opening, like getting sand in those monsters eyes..." He looked around him noting some things in his environment.

We aren't knights, we don't hold ourselves to fighting fair. Sure, there's honor in it, but when you're severely over matched, or see something you can use to your advantage use it. He'd say with a nod.
The way you blinded the beast, and put the first animal between us was an indication of your ability to adapt. Hopefully you can do it against smarter foes as well. He'd know this boy was smart, and he gave the kid the edge in that sense, but he'd still hold back the boy was barely a teenager after all. Raising his "axe" high, he'd make the first move surprisingly before either of them agreed to begin. The kid had to learn there wasn't such the courtesy "Are you ready?" on the battlefield. He sent the wooden club toward the kid's shoulder with half strength, but he'd be going full speed.

"Ok i will bu-Whoa!" Samauli was cut short as Marric ran at him. He leaned towards his right as he went down onto his left knee, sweeping his lance towards Marric's leg using his longer reach to hopefully trip Marric before he hit him.

His attack missed, and he landed in a crouch, hopping up anticipating the sweep of the spear. As he jumped he'd spin to face the boy again, swinging downward as he fell to hit the boy. He was impressed so far, the kid's reaction was good enough, but how well will he be able to handle a hit, marric wondered. The spear user may be able to begin to see marric's technique, he was using his lighter weight and speed to balance his average strength with an axe.

His sweep failed, Marric clearly saw it coming. As he loomed over him, Saumuali knew that this was going to hurt. His stance was twisted and he was on a knee. He put his lance's butt back, in a groove on a rock he saw earlier and pushed off it. At the same time he tucked his right shoulder to bring his left up and did a small hop forward. Rather than a graceful role, Marric hit him on his upper left back causing him to land sprawled out with his face in the sand. The hit knocked the air out of him and stunned him.

Ouch... Get up kiddo, we'll go a bit slower this time... He rubbed the back of his head guiltily, he thought he hadn't put too much strength into that last one, but obviously he had. He was no master, holding back like that failed miserably after his first attack. He'd try to control himself more next time.
Hey... You alright? he'd say after a few moments... crap had he hurt him bad?

Samuali gasped as he rolled over. "yeah...I'm fine... just... give me... a second" He gasped between breaths. "That was... a good shot. Need to practice... more huh?" He slowly moved his lance.

Marric would nod, and help the boy back on to his feet. He needed a bit of stamina to take more hits... In battle, he'd have been sliced in two after being stunned like that. If you need a break, we'll take one. He'd offer plainly. The kid had little training after all, it'd be best to do things a little at a a time, hopefully he had drawn a few skills from the short match.
