One guy left thought Orland as he turned his shield. The mercenary attacked again, but without his partner to move in and out against the giant he did not stand much of a chance. Orland pushed hard with his shield and pressed the mercenary off balance. He then retaliated with a strike from his club that landed on the man's left shoulder. The mercenary however was not dead yet. He threw his body at Orlan's shield forcing the giant to take a step backwards. He then attempted to strike at Orland's knee cap, but the giant saw it coming. Orland lowered his shield and blocked the incoming blow. Rather than press again Orland took a step back. His actions confused the Mercenary until he saw the giant relatch his mace and grab his lance.
"Crap", spoke the Mercenary as he tried to rush in. The closer he was the less effective the lance was. However Orland red his movements. The knight stabbed forward with his lance causing the mercenary to jump backwards. The giant then rushed forward and slammed his shield against the man. The blow caused him to fall to the ground, and Orland's spear finished the job. The Knight turned to see Ethan coming around the corner. He was bleeding bad and Orland knew that the enemy was probably just around the corner.
"Why can't people do things on their own", spoke Orland as he rushed toward Ethan position.

Marric had nearly broken the crack down to span the entire wall. Just a few more full weighted kicks and shoulders and he'd be free. It was too bad that his shoulder was bloodied and his leg hurt like no other. He wouldn't be in much shape to fight if things continued like this. After another painful attempt at breaking the wall down heard a muffled scream and armored boots coming down a corridor. Suddenly a familiar face appeared outside the bars, holding something that belonged to Marric between them.
You... What in the name of the gods are you here for? He grinned and graciously took his axe, Stand Back! Marric raise his axe and hit the crack with all the might he could muster. The wall crumbled, just enough to fit an above average sized man through. Or, in Marric's case, a skinny axe-fighter. He looked like hell, his tunic was stained brown with dried blood. His nose was clogged with a dried red substance, his lips were fat and cut, one eye was forced shut and purple, and the other had a gash underneath it. His hair was matted with dirt and blood, and his baggy trousers were torn to little more than shreds, but, his arms were fine and he wanted blood.
I was looking for my father's murderer. Marric quickly explained how he got here, his one man assault on the fort, and his capture by the fort's inhabitants.
You have my axe in this fight, but the mage... He's mine. Marric spat and grasped Eren's hand firmly. He couldn't believe the old General was here, but he was sure glad that he was. Marric brushed past the Dragon Knight without waiting for a response, and limped down the corridor to the Courtyard where he would have joined the fray. Unfortunately for him, the reinforcements that had arrived with the mage had barely gone very far. They waited inside the corridor after the hall branched into a larger room just before the courtyard. They looked like they decided to retreat to a defensible position instead of going out to be slaughtered in the yard. He was out-numbered, and even if Eren had his back, the archers were notching their arrows, if the swords of the mercenaries didn't fell them, the archer's arrows probably would.
Marric didn't care. Maybe he should have been a berserker; his anger and bloodlust thrust him into a state of rage. He charged his foes with no fear, if he was to die they were going down with him.

Alden focused his attention on the bloodied figure of Ethan. The poor man was scared out of his mind; the wound in his torso was severe, and his eyes blinked uncontrollably inbetween gasps for air. The troubadour dismounted from his horse and knelt down next to the injured man. He let out a soft whisper. "It's going to be alright, just calm down. I'll heal you." The uproar inside of the fort only grew louder, although there didn't seem to be that many people with in as far as Alden's initial scan of the area had assessed. That only meant one thing: reinforcements had come. People ran left and right within the building, with a number of soldiers and axe-wielders now guarding Detris, who had come out and stood in the center of the decrepit structure. His voice boomed as he yelled, "YOU WILL REGRET THIS ATTACK ON ME. I WILL TAKE ALL OF YOUR LIVES, ONE BY ONE...ELFIRE!" He pulled his arm back, tome in the opposite hand glowing brightly as he released a pillar of flames forward. The fire consumed Gavin, who was combatting one of the bandits, and burned both of them into unrecognizable, blackened corpses. Alden flinched as he watched his comrade die. Detris seemed pleased with the result, then looked around for his next victim.
Alden's staff continued its work, closing the wounds and healing Ethan, and after a few more seconds, the job was complete. "Ethan, go find a safe place to hide. You're healed, but it's still fresh and it needs time to set. Don't strain yourself or you'll end up dead, and don't do anything stupid." After that, Alden couldn't do much more than what Ethan was doing; hiding. He got back onto Lux and barked an order. "Silvia, Samuali! Follow me to the corner near the cliffside and the tree, to the left of the debris from the fort. That'll serve as a safe spot for now, the battle inside is only getting more intense..."
Faros continued his ride on Mika, and watched from the sky as the enemy's reinforcements flooded into the fort. Now there were near 2 dozen men within, counting Detris and the remaining forces of his own mercenary group. It seemed as though Gavin had been killed, Ethan had escaped, Silvia was outside with Alden and a green-haired boy, Eren was in the middle of the fray while Orland headed out, and another unfamiliar face was alongside Eren. With this assessment, one thing was clear; they would outnumbered, and clearly in danger. He couldn't do anything about it, though. He merely aimed his bow and shot an arrow through another rogue's head, killing the man instantly. One more down, twenty-two to go...since dealing with Detris would be an entirely separate endeavor.

The battle was going nicely. Key word, was. He had escorted Alden to the wounded man without much of an incident and Alden was healing the wounded man. Suddenly things flipped for the worst. Reinforcements showed up and seemed to be lead by some mage with escorts.
The mage raged on about something as he used a magic tomb and much to Samuali's terror he watched a friendly and the hostile he was fighting get engulfed by a pillar of flame. After the fire cleared there was only two chard lumps where there was just recently two men. The mage seemed happy with his carnage and started to look for his next victim. Samuali began to shake out of raw fear. He considered just running for his life. Alden's voice addressed him.
"Silvia, Samuali! Follow me to the corner near the cliffside and the tree, to the left of the debris from the fort. That'll serve as a safe spot for now, the battle inside is only getting more intense..."
No, He could not run, not when Alden was counting on him. His nerves steeled themselves as he remembered Alden. "Alright, lets go!" a strong and stead voice that sounded just like him sounded out as he moved with Alden and Silvia, lance at ready.

"Well then," Eren said grimly. "Marric! We've got a healer. Pull back! Get on Mika, we need to retreat to get you healed! We can come back for that rat-face later!"
Running in front of Marric, Eren leaped into the air, swinging his axe in a whirlwind around him and giving two mercenaries coming in from each side nasty wounds. They wouldn't last long, but, to be sure, Eren followed up with a vicious stomp to one's face and a punch-kick combo to the other. Leaving his wake of devastation, Eren signaled to Mika, who came down like a meteor, snapping up an enemy after flattening him with a sweep of her tail. Accosted by one of the two mercenaries who somehow hadn't died yet, Eren unleashed a furious barrage of strokes, throwing caution and defense to the winds as he shredded the poor fellow. Unfortunately, the man got a good slash in before he was felled, leaving a bold red line of blood slowly seeping from Eren's thigh, through a joint in his armor.
"Damn, I'm lucky it wasn't my knee. I need to get healed, so that I can get back in the fray... MARRIC, GET ON!"
Limping over to Mika, Eren pulled himself up, using Faros to steady himself. Mika could handle three men, and luckily, Marric was thin... They'd have to go, quickly, so that they could get out of the mage's range before he could burn them with that hellish fire of his.
"Faros! Cover our retreat!
And you out there -- I WILL RETURN!"

Marric Hesitated. He pulled his axe from the skull of an archer as Eren called to him. He looked toward the sickeningly happy mage as he burned a friendly combatant. Marric wanted him dead... He no longer cared for his life, it was revenge he seeked, not survival.
Eren I-- DAMN! Marric cursed as he ducked under a sword stroke and swung his axe into the owner's neck. I'm coming! Marric hoveled over to the wyvern as fast as his sprained leg would allow him. He grabbed Mika's harness and pulled himself up as the mage fired another blaze of Elfire. It narrowly missed as he hopped aboard.
the mage screamed with joy. "OH DEAR ME! MY LITTLE PRIZE ESCAPED HIS CAGE!" The mage laughed maniacally.

"Go, go, GO!" Eren urged, as Mika yelped and shot into the air, wobbling a bit unsteadily. Swerving and swooping, the wyvern narrowly evaded another burst of the hellish fire. Curving and spiraling upward, Eren brandished his weapon at the mercenaries, before Mika dove over the fort's walls and dropped like a stone toward a group of allies, landing in an adrenaline-pumped thud beside Alden and the mage on their team. There was another boy, too. Eren recognized him, from somewhere...
"Alden! We need healing, quickly. Get Marric here first, then patch my leg up. We've got to get in there before their morale returns... If we can keep them trapped, they're weaker! We've come too far to retreat now!" Eren implored, still oozing blood and almost crying with fury and the passion of battle.
"I saw Gavin die... He must NOT have died in vain! I shall avenge him!"
Eyes flashing like the mage's fire, Eren stared the healer down, Mika lashing her tail impatiently. The battle wasn't over yet!!! He had to go back!

The wyvern Samuali saw earlier shot over the fort's wall and landed with a thud near Alden, Silvia, and him. The wyvern had three riders, an archer, a pink gloved rider, and a beat up fighter.
The rider said,"Alden! We need healing, quickly. Get Marric here first, then patch my leg up. We've got to get in there before their morale returns... If we can keep them trapped, they're weaker! We've come too far to retreat now!"
Marric? upon closer examination the fighter was Marric. Samuali rushed over and the closer he got, the worse Marric looked. "Good find, Eren!" Said Samauli remembering the rider's name as he got close. "Geez Marric, I would hate to see the other guy. Give me your hand." Samuali reached to assist Marric.

Eren and one of the unfamiliar faces flew in, swooping low to the ground. Faros kept his eyes set on the fort behind them the whole time, shooting at set intervals to kill oncoming mercs. Alden listened closely as Eren yelled. "Alden! We need healing, quickly. Get Marric here first, then patch my leg up. We've got to get in there before their morale returns... If we can keep them trapped, they're weaker! We've come too far to retreat now!" Alden merely nodded and moved toward the man called Marric. There were a few things that he assessed of the Marric's appearance, namely the burn marks along his neck that seemed to be scars rather than fresh wounds and his outwardly tough looks. He held out his staff towards the still-bleeding wounds and worked away, letting the healing power of the item mend Merric's wounds at a rapid pace.
Faros seemed focused on killing mercenaries, so Alden decided to speak with Eren while he healed Merric. "What option do we have but to run? I can only heal so quickly, and they have more men than we do. If you've got a plan for this, though, I'm more than open to suggestions. As long as we come out alive, really..."

"What options do we have? We take them by storm. I doubt that rat-faced mage can take all of us on at once... If we swarm him, and he goes down, their morale will plummet. We run the chance of being incinerated, but I say we strike hard and fast, while he's still here. The rest of the mercenaries are but sheep. We can crush them later. Marric and I can slaughter them! We can put the mage girl... Silvia, was it? on the wall, along with Faros, as auxiliary and ranged attack. You can stay out here, to avoid combat. And Orland can scare the bowels out of all the rest."
Eren twitched nervously, the heat of battle filling his veins.
"We just CAN'T give up! No soldier would abandon a battle they could win!"

Orland rushed into battle as the reinforcements moves against them. Alden seemed to be taking care of their comrade so there was no need from him to worry. His focus was now on the enemy. Orland rushed towards the first man with his shield raised. The knight used the massive wall of steel to block the man's view while he prepared to strike with his spear. As he suspected the man struck forward with his axe hoping to pound at the knights defense. Orland quickly took a step backwards causing the man to miss and stabbed forward with his lance. The Iron tip sliced through the man's upper shoulder, but did not manage to get any vital spots. The fighter however panicked. He was already intimidated by the giant's size, but Orland's counter with his lance mad him loss his nerve.
"They don't pay me enough for this", spoke the fighter as he turned and retreated. Orland did not give chase as there were other enemies to do battle with. Wasting energy chasing after him would only doom him to die to a lesser foe.
Orland took a moment to take a look around. The enemy seemed to be moving about like a flood. New troops swarmed in with the appearance of their leader. The mage, he was the key to their victory, and more than likely Orland's death. Every fiber in the giant's body told him to avoid the man, but his battle sense told him he had to face him. If he could some how take down the mage he could turn this whole fight. He needed a way to strike at him, or just needed a way to make the mage open himself up for attack. The knight took a deep breath.
"I am Orland the mighty", shouted the Giant as his voice boomed over the battle field. "Those who wish death come and fall to my spear. Those who seek life flee and take shelter in the hills. Any who stands before me shall die." The knight threw away his shield and twirled his iron lance in the air for dramatic effect. He then pointed it toward the crazed mage, the mercenaries called a leader. "Come rodents and meet your end at the tip of my lance." Orland hoped his little act was enough to grab the mage's attention. Even more so that his ally in the sky would take notice and use the opening to pick off the magical fiends. Magical defense was not Orland's specialty.

Marric frowned at the troubadour's response. The remaining mercenaries were weak, the only threat was being swarmed or getting incinerated, neither of which did Marric find grisly enough to warrant any retreat. As the two men schemed up a plan, or tried to, Marric looked over to the mage girl Eren mentioned. She was too green, marric thought, to be used in such a manner, she looked as if she was panicking already. No, she wouldn't be any help here he thought, and finally decided to share his take on the matter as his wounds healed enough for him to return to battle. A new voice offered him a hand, said his name. Unfortunately, Marric's mind only ran one track on this day, all he could think about was ending this mage's life, and hardly even acknowledged the Nabatan.
Retreat if you'd like, nothing is stopping you. Of course, if you do, I'll hunt you down for the rest of your days; You can see a small army won't stop me from finishing the job either. Marric moved toward Eren, he knew this mage's tactics, and he had a plan.
Call Mika back, drop me along the wall the mage is on, circle the dastard with your archer laying any interference out. I saw some knight as we left the courtyard, if he isnt dead yet, he should provide enough of a distraction to Detris to allow me to get close. Marric hefted his axe to his shoulder, if Eren didn't do anything soon Marric would scale the walls himself.

A moderately tall and thin dark mage with a purple cloak wrapping him against the cold was starting to grumble. He grabbed one of the mercenaries who was standing idly with an axe and shook him by the collar. "You! Who's squad are you in!?" he growled, the hood concealing just about everything but the scowl on his face. The mercenary started breaking into a sweat, trying to cover the wound on his shoulder. "Er... that is, I lost the leader guy!" The brigand stammered, trying to excuse himself from the fight, a dead man not even five paces away from him.
"Screw that! Get your ass in the fight or I'll crush your damn lungs and feed you to the vultures! You idiots never listen!" he yelled, nearly shouting the mercenary into the corner. "Y-yeah..." he replied, not wanting any of the dreaded mages in the fort to have their way with him. He'd seen the prisoner marked with burns.
The cloaked mage turned and looked on the fight. His tactics were doing fairly well, especially with the fire mage's leadership, but the quality of the men was much to be desired. The fate of the battle was still to be seen. He was practically cursing himself for not studying up on his dark magic to show these fools how to fight properly like how soldiers do. What a treat that would be.
"Sir! They're regrouping! The knight in the courtyard and the Wyvern rider need to be dealt with!" the dark mage blurted, almost ruining the fire mage's ecstatic feeling of just the aura of combat and having just killed a pesky intruder. For him, he wanted Marric to feel the pain of loss and the others the pain of death. "DAMN YOU! TELL THAT TO THE MEN, NOT ME! YOU'RE DISTRACTING ME FROM MY GLORY!" he screamed fanatically, almost wanting to turn the flames onto the tactician. "KILL THE GIANT! KILL THE RIDER! KILL THEM ALL!"
The tactician was hardly pleased.

"Alden! I don't care if it is suicidal. Here's what we need to do.
First, you heal me. I'm useless with a gimp leg. Then... The thunder mage and that boy with the lance both support Orland. With the lance kid protecting Silvia, she can zap people while Orland smashes them to itty bitty chunks. Meanwhile, Faros keeps harassing everyone from the air, especially Detris... the mage. If someone's in danger, sure, he can kill them off, but I say Faros keeps Detris from focusing 100%. That way, I can harass him and clear the area for Marric's offensive.
We don't have much time, but we sure as hell have the skill and the guts. Come on, guys. This is war. It's not pretty, but it's what happens. I've seen my share of combat. Let's tighten up our bootstraps and get back in the mix! Orland needs us. And that rat-face has GOT to die.
Come on, who's with me?!"

Alden's first reaction was disappointment in Marric, who threatened him indirectly by claiming that he would be hunted if he fled. Just after healing his wounds, not to mention...how ungrateful. Alden glared at the fighter, unimpressed by the man's threats. "Hunt me down for the rest of my days, if I flee, huh? I just helped you and all you have for me is threats." Alden almost considered fleeing to spite him, but figured he'd be better off staying to help everyone who needed him. He then listened closely to Eren's plan of action, which was surprisingly detailed. Eren had set Orland, Silvia and Samuali to go for the offense along with himself and Marric while Faros provided air support and distracted Detris. Ethan was healed, so Alden figured Ethan would be his own guardian for the time being. The plan seemed fair enough, and even if it was dangerous, there was still a chance they would persevere. "Fine. That plan will have to do...I'll heal you." he held out his staff and did what he promised, healing the wounds on Eren's leg quickly and efficiently. Within a few minutes, the task was complete and the daunting battle would soon continue..."You're all fixed. I'll stay back, of course, and Ethan will be my guard. Good luck."
Faros was crouched nearby, an arrow readied in his bow. He let it fly free, where it planted into a merc's knee, dropping the man to the ground as another arrow was prepared from Faros' quiver. "Whenever you're ready, Eren."
