Nothing like a good, sunny day to just relax and do absolutely nothing of value!
...Well, not really. She was actually in this village for a reason. Her grandfather sent her a letter a week ago saying that a small library here was ran by a mage he knew that could help her hone her skills a little more. The energetic woman had to admit to herself that she was getting a little tired of slinging fire balls all day long. Fire was good and all, but she needed a little "ZAP!" every now and then. Was it too much to ask for her to finally get her hands on magic she'd actually see herself using the most? She actually used one for a moment after becoming good enough and she COULD handle it. Really, it wasn't like she was going to zap people completely by accident like she did to her master in her pupil days. And the rest of the freak moments were just slinging poorly controlled fire balls at his backside! Totally an accident, hah hah! ...Hah.
No, it's not funny. He punished her for all of that. Really badly.
Okay, okay, enough playing around. Though she couldn't resist as she was walking casually in the street, half paying attention, half reading a book that was given to her about a week ago. She'd already have been bumping into people by now, but the town didn't seem as active as a village normally should. Well, not like she cared. The less people out, the less distractions she could get. It was a pretty damn good book of mythology she was reading too. But really...something didn't feel right. Wasn't she...supposed to be doing something here in this village? Something about a librarian...ah, it'll come back to her later. Curse her short-term memory! It always got her in trouble.
"Weeeeeird..." Seriously, it was quite boring around here though. She had to stop in place for a moment before finally scanning the area. Some people were out, some merchants were still doing their thing and hardly any children were out playing either. Either something was wrong, or this is just one gloomy village. She took a moment to re-adjust a pretty, golden bracelet she wore around her wrist, as she's had the thing for who knows long. Had it for as long as she could remember after the amnesia, and while it probably holds memories for the old Vivi, she didn't care too much about the details. It was a pretty bracelet and that was all there was to it. Eventually after playing around with her possession, she continued to aimlessly walk down the street while barely paying attention, resuming her carefree reading.

It's funny how one small event in one's life could cause a ripple effect changing the course of their future. Standing up to a bully to save a wyvern pup, that was the initial point in long and difficult life, from there Hal had tried his hardest to avoid conflict, with seeing the horrors of a civil war where brother was pitted against brother, friends clashed blades over ideals, it drove him deeper into a fear of conflict. He began to take more and more jobs to survive that didn't forced him into interaction. Everything changed that day when he tried to do the right thing and help that girl in the forest, he was nearly killed by men who he didn't know only to be saved by that... lunatic he sought to save. His self confidence was shattered, he was barely able to hold a conversation with people after that, un-trusting he pushed away a couple of people before his faith in humanity was restored. It began with a green haired girl, she had sought out to find out what was wrong and help him, something he didn't see very often.
When danger had quickly approached him and the girl, every fiber in his body told him to run but his legs didn't listen. His heart wouldn't allow him to do so, taking up arms he did everything in his power to protect her and the innocent people around him. He was deemed a hero when he didn't feel like one, in an exchange of aid from a man he set out on a mission to help him only to find himself caught in the crossfires of conflict again. This time he was able to handle the situation better than before, he still wanted to flea but with his friends by his side he fought till the end. The bonds between his wyvern and Hal had been growing rapidly since their first encounter, with each passing day the two had grown to know each other quite well despite verbal communication barriers.
Hal was doing some soul searching, was he truly a coward or was he a hero? He left on his own to travel and think. Admittedly it has only been a few days, but the quite had done good for Hal. It was time to give Sol some rest and stretch his legs a bit, descending into this quite town was a good thing since it gave him the chance to resupply. Hal walked around looking at his surroundings, compared to other places he'd been to this was a ghost town. He did note the strange looks he attracted walking around with his wyvern trying to follow on foot.

Just as she was passing by another random person, something...not so random was there also. Her eyes slowly inched over from the contents of her book to the side, at first seeing a kid, but then something BIG was behind him. Her natural reaction was to stop in her tracks as she was beginning to have a flash back of that...snake lady. Of course, the purple haired mage didn't bother to look all the way up, but the first thing came flying out her mouth was, "Bwaaaaaa! Giant snake's back! Get back! I didn't do anything this time!" She ended up dropping her book and her tome was released from her side, her eyes shut tight out of fear. Though just as her fire ball was forming, she took a second look as said snake was...actually not a snake and was a wyvern instead, and she guessed the kid was the rider. Oops. Well, not every day you make a crazy mistake like that...but she was a little on edge after that whole Ilia incident.
The sphere of flame immediately extinguished itself as Vivi realized her mistake, quickly putting her tome away at the sheer embarrassment of her actions. Okay, too many wild adventures at this point. Well, that WAS the fun part of being an adventurer, but when you see rotten dead miners risen from their grave, retarded bandits, and a giant gorgon, you'd lose it at the slightest sight of anything that might be similar too! Well, maybe not, but still. Thankfully not too many people were out, so she was safe from people going into full panic mode if they heard her shout in a tone like that.
"Uhhhhh...sorry. Hope I didn't startle you!" And hopefully the wyvern didn't try to chomp her head off too if she startled it too. Were they aggressive? Who knows. She tried to make her smile more reassuring that she meant no harm.

There was a yell from a nearby woman, she had said something about a giant snake being back? Hal stumbled over his own feet as he saw her start to form a fireball, Sol had began to move towards her in the same moment but stopped when he ran into Hal's hand. As quickly as she had conjured the fireball it had dissipated, she seemed more jumpy than Hal was which he found amusing. It didn't take Hal long to get back to his feet and brush off the dust that had got on his pants. "N-no harm done... I-I guess we startled you just as much. Maybe it would have been wise to keep Sol on the outside of town." He noticed she had dropped her book so he walked over and picked it up for her. Reaching out towards her with book in hand "I think you dropped this."

...Well, that could have gone a little better, but at least things turned out great rather quickly. When the wyvern moved a little, she could feel a drop of sweat on the side of her face before it backed down. "Ahahaha...n-naaah, just a little paranoid lately, is all. You're all right." See, everything's all right! Would be difficult to explain...that in detail though, but she had no problem just keeping it vague. At this point, she's going to start freaking out if she runs into anything that moves. Then she'll end up mistakenly messing with the wrong person and get chopped up. All right, all right, happy thoughts...no more bad ones. Snake's dead and it exists no more. Can't remember how it died, but that doesn't matter. It's gone and never coming back...
...Aaaaand that's properly suppressed.
Feeling much better now, she realized the book being handed to her. She...dropped it? Huh. "Oh, cool beans! Thanks, pal. I would have been fretting over losing this thing all day." Well, not as much as over something like her bracelet, but close enough. Realizing she hadn't introduced herself yet...eh why not? "Sorry about the curazy freakout again. I'm Vivian, by the way!" All right, almost all of that was out of her system now. As long as nothing big and crazy looking didn't cross her path, she didn't have to give anyone else a heart-attack...or give herself one.
Only for a moment, she could hear some faint movement to her side, looking over her shoulder for just a brief moment before seeing nothing that could cause alarm. Okay, maybe the paranoia wasn't completely gone. There was likely no one or nothing there...hopefully.

Hal couldn't believe his ears and eyes, there was somebody just as jumpy as him if not more. It didn't take long for the girl to introduce herself as Vivian, Hal still didn't feel too comfortable with meeting new people so this was still kinda awkward for him. So he would just introduce himself and Sol? Then what? "I'm Hal, and this..." at that moment she started to look over her shoulder, was she giving him the cold shoulder or looking for something? "...is Sol..." he mumbled as he tried shifting his body to see what she was looking at. Judging by the fact she was able to conjure a fireball he decided she was some sort of mage or something, out of all of the magic people he's met he figured they all had to be crazy or something.

Hmmmmm...
Nothing there. Well, that was enough paranoia for the day. When Hal introduced himself and the wyvern, she gave herself a big, bright smile as she spun around once on her heel before facing Hal again. "Grrrrreat names! Nice to meet ya!" Wait, what was she supposed to be doing again? Now she forgot why she came to this freakin' village...again! Okay, letter from grandpa...before that, snake lady, but that something's she's supposed to be intentionally forgetting...hmm. All she could remember was that she was here to see someon--OH! Librarian dude. Looks like that short-term memory of hers kicked in more when she gets frightened. A coping method, perhaps? Well, it sure was an annoying one. Or she could just stop being jumpy at the slightest thing that comes at her. Maybe she developed some trauma after coming back from Ilia...
She didn't know if Hal was around from here or not, but she didn't have anyone to turn to in terms of directions. "Hey, soooo...any idea why this place is all shady and stuff? Having trouble finding a person I need to speak to here and all that good stuff. You from around here?" She had a bad feeling he wasn't, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. If she kept wandering around and reading her book all day, she'd just forget again and end up leaving without accomplishing nothing of value. Of course, if her grandfather were around, he would have found ways around her memory lapses. Maybe she should send a letter asking about how to not be a derp.
As she swung a little back and forth as she waited for a response, Vivian heard that movement again, and from the darkness of the alley her back was faced, a figure covered in robes leaped from out the shadows and behind the mage unexpectedly. "Huh? Wha...?" Before she knew it, the sly thief gripped her wrist and yanked her golden bracelet clean off her arm. She felt the thin string that kept it bind together snap easily from the sudden jerk. "Ahh! H-HEY!" Buuuut the thief was way too fast to keep up with. She couldn't even hit him in time before he made a break towards a far off street in the opposite direction.
They stole her bracelet...and it just made her angry thinking about it, and sad at the same time. She had that thing ever since she was kid, and she had to get it back no matter the cost. "That little...I'm SO going to roast him the moment I catch him!" Her fist clenched, further showing her anger as she held her tome and she conjured another fire ball. The thief was still in range and she hurled the sphere at his backside. It barely missed him as he tripped after realizing the blazing sphere of heat coming at him. He was a quick-footed one though, flipping back up and just about ready to jet off again.

She had seemed every excited to learn Sol and his names, that was a good thing I guess? She seemed normal enough outside of that one small outburst when she saw Sol. She had asked if he was around here, Hal shook his head no. "I just got here moments before running into you. This is my first time in town, I sto-" Out of nowhere a man appeared and stole the bracelet right off of Vivian's wrist, he was completely dumbfounded by his speed and the fact he just yanked it off of her.
As Vivian launched a fireball towards the man Hal turned to Sol who started to run after the man, Hal wasted no time mounting up. It would be much easier and faster to catch him if Sol could get air born, but the fact was his wingspan was too large to take flight in this town, either there were too many people or objects in the way. Flight or no flight, Sol was a much faster runner than Hal was but that wasn't saying much. Sol wasn't too far behind the man as he began to run once again, Hal was ready for him though. He had dove off Sol's back tackling him to the ground, ugh that wasn't a great idea. Hal laid there after the two hit the ground, he landed on his arm funny.

"...Oh!"
She couldn't believe it didn't cross her mind that Hal and Sol could catch the guy easier than she could. She punched at the air, knowing she didn't hit anything, but more of gesture of victory. When the thief was tackled, she witnessed her bracelet flying out of his hand and bouncing over several feet away from the two. Well, the bracelet wasn't going to come back over to her on it's own, so Vivian immediately ran over as quickly as she could. Though something didn't sit very well with her as her expression become dull, seeing another guy similarly dressed to the downed thief creeping from behind the building before making a quick sprint towards the bracelet, scooping it right up as Vivian was only a few feet away from retrieving her precious keepsake.
"Damn it, Ted. Can't you do anything right, you klutz? I always gotta hold ya hand!" the new robber scolded the thief Hal dropped from where he stood. He noticed Vivi coming at him like a wild cat, not even bothering with casting a fire ball. Instead, she decided to use her tome...the other way. The man drew his knife out of preparation, but Vivian's unusual approach left him with no idea what she was going to do with the tome. It was reckless, but she gripped the book with both hands as she swung it sideways, the fire tome smacking the guy on the side of his face. She wasn't expecting to hurt him much, but figured she'd smack with something else to distract him. The last time her anger got ahead of her, she kicked a guy in his family jewels. Not even a thief deserved something like that. The man staggered backwards a bit, but wavered around to avoid Vivian from snatching the bracelet from him.
"Hey! What's the big idea?! If you don't give that back, I'll light you on fire. Literally!" The purple haired mage stepped back a small distance as the man slipped the bracelet in his pocket. Well, getting it was going to be a lot tougher now.
"...You're pretty stupid flaunting the thing out in the open like that in a town like this, girl. You DO realize this thing's made of GOLD, right? Anyone with a good eye for jewelry can spot that..." The man laughed under the mask covering his mouth and nose. He turned his head back into the direction of the fallen thief, his eyebrows tightening together. "C'mon, Ted! Shake that kid off before I leave ya!"
At the thought of the man taking off, Vivian quickly conjured up a fire ball as it levitated above her palm. "You're not going anywhere! She released the sphere as it hurled towards the man, but he twisted to his side to barely avoid the attack. He was more steady-footed than his partner on the ground, so he caught his balance before he could trip. Vivian figured if she kept pressuring him with fire balls until she got close enough, he couldn't escape. But she wanted to make sure Hal was all right too. If she had to risk letting the man get away to make sure the other thief didn't do anything, then this was just a sign that she finally needed to part with her keepsake.
(OOC: You're free to control the actions of the NPC thief/Ted too.")
