They had made it... Halfway.
Locke and Kyle stood in the middle of the street in a town on the edge of Nabata. Locke had just secured passage for the two and informed his traveling companion of their arrangements. The trip included deck passage and two meals daily. Cheap, but scanty. For Locke, it was all he could afford.
"Kyle. I have secured passage on a ship bound for the Isles. The agreement is deck passage and two meals a day. I hope this will be acceptable."
Hopefully Kyle would be all right with the accommodations. There wasn't much choice.
"The boat leaves in fifteen minutes; do you need any supplies in the meantime?"

Kyle merely shook his head when Locke asked if he needed supplies, he had stocked up what was lost in the desert when Locke went to secure passage. going on the boat was quite nerve wracking for him. He had never been on a vessel before, he never had any reason to be, heck, why were they going here again? He couldn't remember, oh well, they were here so might as well.
"Ready?" Locke asked if he was ready, but he didn't know if Locke was prepared or not. If he wasn't he would probably stop him, but until then he would walk towards the ship. Of course he didn't know where the ship was exactly, but he new the general area it would be in. It had to be at the docks of course, so that's where he would go.

"Okay. Let's go."
As the boy set out, Locke moved with him, staying slightly behind and to his right. He was interested in where Kyle was going... Maybe he had something to buy? But he'd said he was not in need of supplies. Oh well.
"The boat is the Spirit of March. It's moored in the right-most dock."
At this point, Locke was just trying to give any relevant details. He had no idea what the boy was doing... Humans. Such strange creatures. The merchants along the sides of the road were busy hawking their wares, a few soldiers stood idly by to keep the peace... It was a typical human scene. Haggling, bartering, fighting. He'd have to commit this all to memory, so that he could relate it later... What a quaint image.

Kyle slowly nodded as Locke told where the ship was, that certainly made it easier. Though he expected that he would say or just start leading, but Locke seemed just fine in following behind him. Slowly through the bustling city they moved, it was a . . . boring sight, yet relaxing at the same time. But relaxing was bad. He needed to get better at things one way or another and relaxing just took time away from it. Sometimes he wondered what life would be like if his father wan't his dad, it would undoubtedly be much easier, but then what would he do with his life? All of these mixed feelings. . . . What did they mean? What was wrong with him? Was something wrong with him? Why did he keep dwelling on this!?!?!
Before long, he had almost walked past the ship, which would be bad as he would have ended up into the water, and he just stared at it. The ability of humans to make such big things to transport themselves had to be impressive to most, but it was more so to him. He had only heard of ships up to this point, but they paled in comparison to the real things, it was such a complex. . . mess, that he couldn't tell what everything did. it just left him standing there trying to take it all in.

Following Kyle, Locke busied himself with his observations, and was so engrossed that he almost ran into Kyle as the boy abruptly stopped near the end of the dock. He appeared to be taken in by the magnitude of the ship. For Locke, the ship was small compared to some of the huge buildings of Arcadia, but a remarkable feat of human construction nonetheless. Making a heavy object like a sea vessel float? It was a noteworthy accomplishment.
"C'mon. They appear to be preparing to leave."
Bounding up the gangplank, the dragon moved to the very front of the ship, crouching on a barrel by the railing. From this perch, Locke waited for Kyle and the ship... Soon, they would be moving across the waves. What an interesting way to travel... It would be easy for him to fly there, but with Kyle... Boat travel was the only option.

Kyle let out a brief sigh as Locke got onto the boat and immediately moved towards of the front of the ship and took a precarious perch on a barrel. It looked extremely dangerous, not something he would do, but everyone was different. Hopefully Locke wouldn't fall off, that would almost mean his demise. That would be bad for multiple reasons, one of them would be that he was left alone, alone on a boat going to. . . where were they going?
Just thinking about the dangers and consequences left him standing there longer than he should have, so much in fact that one of the apparent sailors put his hand on Kyle's shoulder to snap him out of it because they were departing soon.
Precariously Ky;e made his way up onto the ship, making sure not to slip on the spots of sea water that were settled on the ramp. Hopefully the deck wouldn't get too slick during the voyage. He meandered about the ship aimlessly at first, taking in even smaller intricate details that of which he didn't know what was important or what was just for show. He could guess at some of the bigger ones, but the rest meant nothing to him. His dad probably knew everything about these ships. Settling in at a point where ropes tied into knots forming squares lead high up on the ship, connecting with one of the large pillars of wood, he realized he had a lot to learn. And a lot of time to observe it, so he took out his journal and began writing of his travels thus so far.

The shouts of men roused Locke from his musings, and the manakete swiveled around to watch the sailors bustling about. The boat was departing. The one called 'Captain' was busy shouting orders to the sailors, and a few passengers were milling about or waving as the large ship rocked and then began to sail out of the harbor, sails unfurled to catch the driving wind.
After the boat had been sailing for a good amount of time, things relaxed, and the sailors amused themselves by arm-wrestling or playing cards on the deck. Few passengers were left deckside; most had gone to their cabins to unwind. Watching the seamen, the manakete chuckled and hopped down, moving over to stand by the table and the wrestling men.
"What an amusing diversion. Would you mind if I joined?"
One sailor, standing with some sort of paper, looked at him and scoffed.
"You...? Heh, if you've got gold, you can get on in. You bet, and winner takes spoils. Got it?"
Smiling, Locke nodded and took a newly-vacated chair, placing his arm on the table and pulling back his sleeve to reveal more dark marks, creating strange patterns and designs.
"I am ready."
A brawny sailor sat down opposite him, grabbed his arm, and shoved with all his might. The manakete, using none of his power, resisted the advance entirely. Then, grinning widely, he slammed the man's arm down onto the table.
"I am a Nabatan. I am no weakling."
The process was repeated many times, no doubt eventually catching Kyle's attention. Finally, the captain himself sat opposite Locke, who smiled graciously.
"I hear ye be a burly fellow, lad! Do ye think ye can best me?"
"Yes, I do. In fact... I will wager all that I have here."
The two hands clasped, and the sailor captain began slowly moving Locke's arm downward. For a human, he was exceedingly strong, and Locke was beginning to get tired. Drawing some strength from his stone, Locke slowly moved the arm back to its original position. Then, he ceased to draw on his power, and his arm moved downward again. The cycle repeated until Locke tired of the game. Drawing power, he slowly moved the captain's hand until it was down, near the table, and then slammed it down, immediately ceasing the draw on his power and releasing his opponent's hand.
"Bloody hell, ye be strong! Stronger 'n me!"
The gold was exchanged and Locke smiled again, shaking hands with the now-friendly captain.
"Would this be enough to secure cabin passage for two?"
The captain dispatched an attendant, who returned and informed the boss that there was only one unoccupied cabin.
"Very well. I will pay for it. My companion will be using the cabin, then."

Kyle sat there engrossed in the journal that he was writing, completely tuning out what the ship men were doing. Tuning out your surrounding while still being alert was something that his dad said was important for both survivalists and archers, so it was good to be able to do it from time to time, and it actually didn't seem to be dangerous here so it was a better time than most. He felt a ruckus coming from one area of the ship, he assumed the crew, and maybe even Locke, who knew, were doing something, but it didn't concern him so his task was just the journal at hand.
Once he finished writing he tuned in to the environment around him and saw Locke shaking hands with a burly man. It seems he made a new friend. Good for him. Turning his eye back to the knotted ropes he followed them all the way up to the top where they seemed to connect with a large basket like area with another person it in, interesting. Grabbing a thick line of rope in each hand he gave an instinctive tug at it to see if it was sturdy, and of course it was. He began climbing up it, his natural agility and dexterity helping him. His goal? The top.

Locke looked around and saw his companion beginning to climb some ropes. They stretched up a ways to a nest-like structure, in which a sailor was sitting. Well, as long as he didn't kill himself, Locke was fine with his adventuring. Moving to the stern of the ship, Locke found a staircase leading down. It was interesting, so he went belowdecks to investigate.
Instantly, the manakete was greeted with a strange sight. Rows upon rows of axes were hanging from the wall on racks, their blades sharpened and gleaming. Cask upon cask of... alcohol, presumably, were stacked along another wall. It was a storeroom of some sort. But why would a ship like this need all those axes?
Puzzled, Locke returned to the deck and moved to his barrel at the ship's bow, perching once again atop the ship and looking out over the water. There was naught there but the sea, the sky, the gulls, and the flopping fish. All was well. So... why the arsenal?

The further up the rope he climbed, the stronger the winds got. The winds seemed to just be more violent from hitting the cloth hanging from the mast and doubling back, hitting him on both sides. The odd way the wind was hitting him almost made him lose his balance twice on his way up. It was a wonder that less agile people didn't simply fall off to their death, and from this height death was almost certain.
Once he had gotten to the top, he pulled himself inside the nest like structure and was greeted by another sailor,"Oy, why ye be up here? Eh, good job for getting up 'ere for one so young anyway, don't ye just enjoy the feel of freedom?"
Kyle merely nodded his head in response to the man. It was true that there was a certain sense of freedom being up here, but with it was a sense of danger. You can fall at any time and there would be little that could catch you to save you. Besides the danger it was beautiful. With his sharp vision he was able see further than he thought he ever could, and just on the furthest horizons of his vision there was another ship, not even the sailor up there with him could see it. Hopefully it wouldn't be pirates that frequented the area.

Locke looked around, searching for his companion. Locating him high in the air, in what appeared to be a... nest, the manakete was satisfied, and let his gaze slide down until he saw the ship coming up behind them.
Wait.
"Captain? There is a ship coming from behind us!"
An explosion of motion followed, as the milling sailors disappeared and then returned armed to the teeth. Axes gleamed as the sailors assembled, taking positions with the familiarity only of battle-hardened men.
"Who approaches?"
"Pirates. Get belowdeck, sir. You may be strong, but you've got no weapon."
Chuckling, the manakete waved off the captain's concern.
"I need no weapon. KYLE! SNIPE THEM AS THEY COME!"
After roaring up to his companion, Locke moved to the side of the ship, readying himself as the ship approached.

Kyle sat at the top of the nest, basking in the sunshine and freedom of it all. All the while the other ship slowly drew closer to the one he was on. What did this other ship plan on doing drawing so close? Suddenly Locke yelled up to start shooting at them, but why? This other ship had not done anything to him, and it is not like he was being paid to fight. If he remembered correctly, they had paid the sailors for passage, so shouldn't the sailors be protecting them?
The other sailor up there with him pulled out a bow of his own however, and began taking aim at the other ship, killing a few holding boards near the edge of the ship, their corpses, plummeting into the frothy ocean below."Oy, If ye can use that bow, shoot!"

Locke grinned as the pirate ship pulled alongside. The second the two ships were within a reasonable range, he ran forward to the edge, and as a landing plank descended, he slammed his fist into it, sending it tipping into the deep. Running along the side, he managed to knock one more board in, but there were simply too many for him. Two, three, four planks descended and contacted, glowering pirates swarming forward onto them. As they moved forward, Locke crouched, and, drawing some strength from the stone around his neck, lifted the board up, sending the three men on it flailing back into their comrades before he dumped the board into the ocean. Three left... But they were already moving, already boarding. Damn.
"Take the fight to them! Let's send these sea snakes back to the abyss from whence they came!"
With a roar, Locke took a running start and leaped into the air, somersaulting and landing neatly on his feet on the pirate ship. Immediately moving into action, he punched a pirate in the face and kicked another in the sternum, whirling like a sandstorm as he took them by surprise. But the element of surprise wouldn't last forever; he'd need Kyle and the sailors' support, or he'd find himself in deep sand quickly.

"Um, my bow is broke." It was a lie, but he really shouldn't be fighting these guys, he didn't know them, even if they appeared to be bad. The only problem was that Locke ran right in to attack, but the sailors were still scrambling to get their weapons out.
"Use dis then, it's not too different." The sailor replied, leaning over the edge and pulling up what appeared to be an enlarged bow turned on it's side with a bunch of additional parts added on, for drawing it back and such. It was something to behold, it looked as though it could shoot through a person just like that, it was too tempting not to try out. It helped that he would be helping this ship as well.
The captain was one of the first men armed and ready for battle and he ran to help Locke out along with the few others that were ready. All the while the sailor in the nest with him kept shooting at the pirates.
Kyle took a handle in each hand and began reeling them, slowly drawing the string back until it made a click. He flicked the string to feel the tension in it and it was extremely high strung, that would explain why it took so much strength from his arms. Putting in a large bolt from the quiver next to it, he took the thing in both hands and began to aim, the swaying of the ships was almost as bad as his own shakiness when he was using a bow. He aimed at the pirates in front of Locke and waited, his experience with the bow made him adept at timing the waves, so he timed it , and timed it, and timed it. Then he fired. The bold cleanly pierced through the neck of the pirate in front of Locke, blood spraying everywhere from the ruptured arteries, and went through the bare chested pirate behind that one, lodging firmly in the deck. All Kyle could do was stare in awe at the destructive power the weapon he held could do.

Seeing a passenger leap into a nest of pirates wasn't something Captain Yaltan stood for very well. Thus, the second that the weird but strong robed man leaped over into the pirate vessel, he cringed but charged himself, running onto the bandit ship and cleaving a man with his huge axe.
"Charge, me hearties! Send de sea scum back into de deep!"
The sailors cheered and rushed, the sound of metal grating on metal filling the air as they engaged the foe. The tide was in their favor so far, as the seas glinted crimson with the blood of the pirate band.
Meanwhile, Locke battled three pirates, ducking and weaving through their strikes as he looked for openings. As two charged in from the side, Locke snapped his arms out, the impact force crushing through their sternums and sending them to the deck, hemorrhaging to death. The remaining pirate had frozen in fear, staring at Locke's face in dread. It looked almost as if he'd seen something strange or unusual...
But the man had no chance to speak, as a bolt smashed through his neck, sending him crumpling to the ground in a heap. Looked like the projectile had killed another one, too. Well, he sure hoped it was friendly. Wiping blood from his face, Locke glanced over his shoulder quickly and saw Kyle still up above, holding a strange bow-like weapon. "Thanks!" he yelled up, turning his attention back to the fray.
