OOC: Sorry for the delay
IC:
Baako narrowly avoided being cleaved in two, the ax smashing against stone as he rolled onto his feet. The other man was holding his own but it looked like they had him pinned, but he couldn't afford to go and help with the leader still after him. Baako rarely had trouble with ax swingers, unlike swords they weren't very elegant or crafty just straight forward attacks to avoid or block. But in this case his opponent had to be at least a hundred pounds heavier and with a full grown body blocking became unavailable after the first few exchanges.
"Stop moving around!!" The man was fast but Baako still managed to out maneuver him, yet it would only be a matter of time before he was caught, well unless the man grew tired.

The tackled bandit got to his feet and spat at Merric. "I'll gut ya." The bandit charged into Merric taking advantage of the wall behind him. Merric slammed his head hard against the brick and saw spots. Soon something metal was coming his direction. Within moments of decapitation he realized and dodged out of the way clearing away from the bandit.
"How good of a dancer are you?" Merric asked throwing flames at the bandit's feet making him jump around. He got carried away and another came from behind him and put him into a tight bear hug lifting him from the ground. Not good, he thought.
From his new spot above all other's heads he surveyed the battle as the life was being squeezed out of him. One bandit stumbling around still, one holding him, one coming to kill him, the leader fighting the boy and one more, going to gang up on the boy. He tried to yell out a warning but he couldn't release the air to make it audible.
He kicked out at the approaching bandit futilely. Why did combat always end up with him in tight spots he questioned. But luck would have it that at that moment the bandit holding him would sneeze loosening his grip just enough. In a moment Merric shouted at the boy, as the oncoming bandit took his tome.

The situation was looking grim as each passing moment brought Baako closer to what might be his last breath. The leader was still charging strong and the guy he ham stringed was getting his balance back, but it was obvious he was favoring his uninjured leg. Baako ducked another swing and stepped back but found himself pressed against the alley wall, "Got ya now!" Cocking his arm back the grizzled man was about to split Baako down the middle, and that was his chance. Sword raised he charged in, a desperation attack that would either kill him or save him, "AAAAAHHHH!!!"
He felt something smash into his head, knocking him to his feet as pain exploded behind his eyes. The sword was no longer in his grip and as he searched for it the undersized boy noticed the shadow of his opponent. Arms partially raised, his ax clattered to the ground as he fell backwards. An iron sword stuck in his chest. There was only a few moments to rest, the other boy was in trouble and Baako wasn't out of the fire yet either. Prying the blade free he started towards other two, ignoring the man who could barely support himself.

Merric saw the boy was out of immediate danger to his relief. Now if only he could get out of this tight spot. The bandit took his tome away and opened the book. The bandit began tearing pages out to Merric's dismay as well as relief.
Thanks to the bandit focusing on taunting he was still alive and the boy was in a clear spot to aid him. Merric let his body relax and flopped over like he'd passed out. The large bandit felt the total relaxation and dropped him.
"Now then. Let's get the other one." The bandit dropped the time in time to see Baako coming for him. "Oh crap!" He raised his axe and swung.
Merric, pleased they took the bait used Baako's assault to his advantage. Grabbing his tome he pulled up into a handstand and pushed back getting away from the bandits. "Burn!!!" He shouted letting loose a large ball of flames. It struck the large bandit and he instantly went up in flames.
Letting Baako take care of the last one Merric walked over to the cripple and kicked his kneecap shattering it. "Hobble around now." He looked at his precious tome. Pages were scattered in the wind along with many of his personal notes. He wanted to sulk but he had to watch the rest of the young lads battle. He produced his coin to decide the outcome. With a flip in the air he muttered "heads he wins, tails the bandit loses." In the bars it was a sure win against the gullible but here it was a sort of charm.
Not waiting to see the end he simply wished the boy luck, looked over his ruined tome, and walked away.
