Alizarin promptly shut up as he withered under the Rider's angry glare. From where he was, he finally heard footfalls and voices of people - actual people! Living, breathing people! Not crazy hallucinations! They were real, right? Please let them be real.
"I dunno about yer, but this is getting t'cold fer me." A woman said, her voice muffled by the noises of the snowstorm outside. The Shaman tried to move his head towards the voices, but was unable to, with the Rider pretty much restraining him.

"Shut your trap, Olivia. If you want to go back to under the sergeants bed sheets, go right ahead." The older voice spoke, grunting as footsteps were heard closing in on the cave, someone seemingly leaning on the wall. "I swear t'me mum, I'll shank yer once we get back w'Orys." The woman snarled angrily.
Orys continued to keep his hand over the man's mouth, reaching for his spear.

Alizarin pressed his back against the "cave" wall, trying to distance himself as far away from the Rider (if such a thing was possible in such a cramped space). He hated being touched. He hated small spaces more. He kept squirming and shifting until he fell through the cave's wall, creating (yet another) hole. The man's grip came loose off his face and he was blasted by snow and frigid air.
He screwed his eyes shut, but he can hear Them laughing over the roar of the blizzard around him. He looked up and saw nothing but snow and Them and gray and Them and Them and Them and Them and it was That Day all over and over again. He hater his father. He hated his home/prison. He hated his life and he hated his cowardice and what he became and he hated Them. He hated them all. Hate. Hate. Hate.

"Oh for f-" Orys cursed under his breath as the man crashed trough the "cave" wall, straight out into the snowstorm, pulling down the older man leaning against the wall. The woman and the younger man first stared at Orys, then at eachother, then back at Orys.
"For hell's sake, you're still too slow." Orys proceeded to quickly launch himself forwards, crushing his mail booted leg down at the neck of the downed older man, a sickly snap heard. He then looked to Alizarin. "Get up, AND FIGHT!"

"███ ██ ███ ██████" No words. Only sounds. He did not hear the Rider under their laughter (or was it the wind - no, it did not matter, none of this mattered to a stranger like him), but the intent was understood. But why should he?
"And why should I?" Alizarin asked, voice oddly seething for a submissive, spineless man like himself as he merely stood up and felt nothing but hate, hate, hate and the cold wind cutting into his clothes and skin. There was nothing to be done here. Nothing but awful, awful memories. Yes. No! -a hand idly traced an old scar on his scalp- Damned memories. Damned voices. He scowled (they giggled, he screamed) and he shoved the corpse away with his boot. It was pointless, returning here to Ilia.
He began to walk away.

"Because they're gon-" Orys grunted as Olivia, the female rider, crashed against him. "Yer not gettin' away, Orys! Jus' give up an' surrender! Yer might be spared! We might still be able t'--" Orys snarled as he proceeded to sweep his spear down on her legs, making her fall onto her back. "G' ta hell!" Orys proceeded to quickly stab his spear down trough the throat of the female rider.
The last one, the youngest male, looked around as he noticed Alizarin beginning to walk away. "Nope, mate! You're gonna come with us!" He then pulled out a javelin from his back, throwing it towards Alizarin.

"Nope, mate! You're gonna come with us!"
"Dodge!"
And dodge it he did. He avoided what could have been a fatal hit, but the javelin still struck his back, and he fell sprawling to the ground. With a bit of an effort, he forced himself upright.
"I just want to find some shelter and leave this place. But no, I just have to get in the crossfire." He took out his Flux tome and fired straight at his Attacker. The latter dodged and leapt away. "Is it too much to ask for a break?"
Alizarin fired again. Then again. And again. And again. It was exhausting. It was wasteful. It was cathartic. And he just went on and on firing a volley of spell after spell after spell, not caring if he hit or if the target was even alive anymore - he was simply too caught in his own world, laughing along with the voices in his head - until the spell exploded in his hand. He hissed and buried his hands into the snow.

Orys turned his attention to the... Clearly crazy Shaman. He just continued firing at the young man, even though his body had already exploded by the third hit. He let out a disgusted sound as he finally stopped. "Oh, Hells sake... That's simply disgusting. But at the very least..." He pulled his spear out from the woman's throat.
"We should be safe."
Thump. Thump. Thump. The sounds of three riderless wyverns landing.

"Safe? Safe from what? We're still in a freezing wasteland." Alizarin made an all-encompassing gesture and turned around, but before he made another step, he winced and felt something sticky down his back. He touched the spot where the javelin hit him with his non-aching hand (he had gone overboard this time), and there was a lot of blood spattered on the snow around him. He hissed a curse.
Suddenly, three wyverns landed nearby, and one of them nudged the young man's mangled corpse. If one were to listen carefully, it sounded as if it was crying.
"I think you broke it." The comment went mostly ignored.

Okay. The wyverns should be too focused on their dead riders to dash for their bloody revenge. Or well, that is what Orys hoped. Nothing ever went the way people hoped, of course. And so the wyverns rose, snarling at the two men.
"Well."

The mourning wyvern lunged at Alizarin, who was too slow and exhausted from his injury to leap out of the way, and was sent sprawling down on the snow once again, with his tome landed a few meters away from where he was. He rolled and crawled away just as the oversized winged lizard tried to rip his head off with its massive jaws. Then again. Then again, in a ridiculous game of cat and mouse, except it was pissed off wyvern and pissed off (and very tired) Shaman.
Alizarin felt something poking at his wounded back. His tome. However, there was no time to cast. He had to improvise. He hated improvising.
He picked up the tome and bashed it (mumbling an apology to his poor battered tome) over the wyvern's head as hard as he could, stunning it. The Shaman took it as his opportunity to scamper away and create some distance between him and the angry mount, gathering as much power as he could in his numb, badly shaking hand. He fired.

Of course it didn't miss. Fate was just nice that day, it seems, as the Flux slammed right against the stunned wyvern, causing it to stagger back, screaming in pain as the flux had opened a massive wound at it's head. It continued this little death scream for a good five minutes before collapsing onto the ground next to it's dead riders corpse. How poetic.
And then the two others dashed towards Orys. He prepared himself for the impact... Only for one of the wyverns to be pushed back by the charging Balerion. The two wyverns begun their little wrestling match of death while Orys faced the other wyvern.
The two circled each other for a long while, with the wyvern doing many fake charges and snaps forwards, to try and scare Orys into attacking. He kept his ground.

Alizarin fell on his knees and looked blearily at the Rider as the two remaining wyverns circled him. Should he help the man? Yes, he should. It was clear that he would be dead if said Rider were to be killed, but he was in no shape to fight anymore. Still, he readied his tome. He could deal with his wound later, once it was safe to do so. Maybe. But he should do something about the wyverns first, right? His answer came in the form of another(?!) wyvern barreling down and tackling one of the raging winged mounts. The other wyvern circled the Rider, threatening to bite him to death as he brandished his lance threateningly. It almost looked as if they were dancing, but Alizarin knew both were merely biding their time. The Shaman raised his hand and aimed at the wyvern.
One more shot. Yes. Just one more. He could do that. He flung a small blob of magic, just enough to distract the Rider's enemy.

Balerion had gained the upper hand very quickly. The wyvern that had been set against him was still young, maybe only a few years old, while Balerion himself was at the peak of his age. Yet, the fight between them could be described as looking very even after a while. The two wyverns circled eachother, snapped at eachother's throats and clawed each other's backs.
Orys blinked as the blob of magic flung right past him at the face of the wyvern facing him, resulting in it screeching and backing away as small globules of blood flew from it's face. Orys saw his chance here as he charged, jumping up and stabbing his spear into the neck of the beast, resulting in it schreeching and wailing, slamming Orys away into the snow before collapsing, his spear still stuck in it's neck.

Two down, one to go. They could deal with it. Alizarin dropped his tome, completely exhausted. He can no longer feel anything in both of his hands as they dangled uselessly beside him. He collapsed face-first onto the snow and curled up unto himself, chuckling despite the pain in his back. He never had to fight like that before. Was he going to die there?
Stop thinking like that.
But it sounded rather tempting. And he was tired. Very, very tired.
Stand up and get your injuries treated.
"Shut up and let me sleep."
