Orys turned his head to the bearded man who had entered the tavern. He could respect such authority and power, surely. But, it seemed like his little recruiter was already on her way to handle it, so he turned his head back to the woman he was talking to before. "Orys. Orys Durrandon." He had thought about already addressing himself as a king or a lord, but he had decided against it. There were too many possible eyes nearby that could just come and off him before he could go on and end his plan in it's grand finale that it, and he, deserved.
"And for this job, I'll need the objects of my desire to stay unharmed and unlooted. I will gain neither, but I still wish to ensure that at the very least something survives without being pillaged to the ground. So promises of blunder would be false. And I am not a man of false words and buttered up promises." He drunk up more of his ale, wiping away some of the pissy liquid from his mighty beard. "And besides... They're not going to stay at Nabata for long anyways. I'll need them to earn some gold. Heh."
"Anyways. I believe so, yes. At the very least ONE company will. If not, I will simply wait until I have the money and then send someone else. But if you were to go now... You'd be gaining a fancy reward. That sound any more interesting, my lady? Hm?"

"Thank you" I said to the pretty girl who told me who to talk too as I walk over to the table that the man in back armor was sitting at talking to a woman.
As I get closer I realize that I know the woman. It was Loreley the woman I met a few weeks ago.
"Hi Loreley, and hello mister." Now turning to the man in red armor I said," I was told that you were the one I was to come to for details on this opportunity?" I say as I take one of the open seats at the table.

Morgan looked the map she was given over a few times, deeply considering chartering her crew for it. "Thank ye, lass." She said to the young girl, being polite in her own piratey way. Her crew refrained from messing with the girl, for Morgan had strict rules that women not be dealt with inappropriately while she was around. Morgan's crew were only just barely polite to women, everyone else they were allowed to be as rowdy as they wanted, occasionally ending in a barfight or two.
Fame and fortune would be all that her crew really needed to get them to join in, but everybody nowadays, it seemed, was promising fame and fortune, those words were as empty as the bottles around a drunken pirate. The experience though, that was tantilizing. Morgan had been taught very well the ins and outs of naval combat and strategy, but that was beginning to become too easy almost. Land combat, and in a desert no less, would be very challenging, but Morgan was unsure of it.
She decided to watch the man who was trying to hire people, and listen in on his conversation. If she knew what kind of man she'd be under, that would definitely help her decision. He looked like a natural born leader in her eyes, but leaders were not born that way. A good leader was created through rigorous training and being put into real situations that the leader must get through. That was how she was taught, and that was how her crew came to follow her. It was only natural that a leader she would follow must be the same way.

Orys? Orys Durrandon.... The blond haired mariner wracked her brain for any word of the name having crossed the isles before now, but could recall nothing. Nothing from her quarter, at least. Mr Durrandon was a mystery. The very armor he wore set him apart as equipped with an impressive arsenal rather than dirt poor as many of the commoners on the isles were. Only the forts and ports commonly had armor like that and the means to craft such works. Neither belonged out here.
"Weeeeell...," She said slowly, making an effort to pry the promise of reward and the gleam of promised gold off her face and out of her voice before continuing. "Yes. I'm certainly more interested now. Why don't you tell me more about this fancy reward. Sell me on why I want it, a little, eh?" If it was gold, that would be enough for her. Her family had moved to a larger port when danger increased, along with the rest of her village. It was proving challenging for the refugees from Wake to carve out a new home for themselves, so the gold would be able to help with that. Besides that, there were always repairs and improvements that she could make to Promise. She wasn't the sort to just dive headlong into something without inspecting it from too many angles though. She'd learned that from both her parents.
Loreley, glanced over at the figure approaching and rubbed her eyes as she groaned a little inside.
"Oh boy...." She griped under her breath before speaking up. "Will, it's not safe here. This is the opposite direction that I pointed you in." She reached across the table and put a hand on his shoulder as she spoke, trying to impress in his ears the words she was speaking.
"There are people here that eat good lads like you for breakfast." She hushed her voice as she spoke so it couldn't be heard across the room, but she looked to be caught somewhere between consternation and a little bit of plain amusement. Even she didn't know which was winning out over the young man's obstinate journeying habits.

Turning to Loreley as she speaks I reply in a quiet tone when she finishes.
"I got turned around finding cover during a storm, but that's beside the point." I rub the back of my head at my own ineptitude.
"If this job is heading away from the isles it could be my ticket out of here." Looking around at the room I then turn back to Loreley. "Plus I know how to deal with this type, Don't show them any anxiousness and don't take any crap from them and they won't bother ya' none. That's something I learned from my dad. We were the smiths so I had to deal with mercenary types all the time."
After finishing my spiel I turn to take a seat at the table.

Orys rubbed his beard for a long moment as he then offered the lady what seemed to be a short timed grin. She could sell a bargain and spin a few words up for herself, hah. She would be a fine asset if he could use her correctly to advance his own agenda. "The reward would be nothing else but a new ship, or perhaps a new ship with some gold?" He raised his eyebrow slightly, as if asking if the offer was alright with her. "I'm a generous man to my friends, my lady. Don't you forget that."
He looked to the bulkier man, the one without a beard as he leaned in, eyeing him up and down. "You're interested? Good." He stroked his bushy beard once more with something akin to a confident grin on his face. "You will fit right in, especially if you can build houses and smith weapons, along with confidently using those weapons. Durrandon's ambition is taking anyone it can into it's wheels, and it needs good and handy people to fix and oil up those wheels whenever they need to be." He patted the man on the shoulder once as he then rose from his table, for now ignoring his little recruiter who was getting busy as he stomped up to the bearded pirate.
"And your crew is something I'll need to handle paying up to all these people. Of course, the plunder in itself will already be enough to feed your crew with gold for a few months at the very least."

The sundusted archer gave a half amused, half stern look over to William, but said nothing and shook her head. That approach would always work for a Smith, when you were in your home forge. Those fighters relied on you to fix their weapons and patch up their armor. Out here, it was a different story. If someone decided they didn't like you enough, what reason did they have to keep you around?
"Just be careful you don't bite off more than you can chew. There be as much trouble in this little common room as the waves being thrown at the docks outside. If it sets off, don't expect me to stick around." She'd survived out here by having friends and making herself more trouble to track down and deal with than she was worth. That was the best method of survival that she'd found to date. Making friends kept you alive. Making enemies could haunt you for life.
Her eyebrows shot up as he offered her a ship. Her paranoia meter followed a few moments later when her brain caught up to the size of the promises he was offering. It was still very vague. She didn't know what sort of ship exactly he was referring to, and after thinking about it a bit more realized that that wasn't even relevant to her thoughts on whether to join in or not. She had no reason to doubt him, but other than the payment that she'd seen handed out for the recruiter, all he'd given had been promises like a sea breeze. Who knew whether his sails could catch the wind?
"Orys, your offer is a strong one.... I can bear a message to Ilia for you, but I'll need the money for the resources to get there in advance. Plus some money down for my time. That's all I can promise to do for you for now. We can talk more about the specifics of my payment in the future."
A new ship.... That could be a powerful promise. She already had a fine sailing vessel though. Promise had never failed her, and a larger ship would only end up being a little too much boat for her alone. With that said though, she could easily use some money to get a new mainsail. Maybe pick up a Spinnaker to get a little more speed in. Hey, she could always bring a new ship back to her family and those left of Wake. They could use the extra money such a gift would bring.

Morgan stood up to meet the man himself, she did not quite come face to face with him, though that being more because he was a very big man, rather than her being... well, a girl in disguise. "The name's Captain Morgan. And if ye be wanting to charter my crew, you'll have to be giving me more details than just 'Gold'. We are not the kind to rush into things we can not handle like idiots." Her voice strained a little to keep the gruff tone, but that's why she tried to speak as little as possible. Her hiding her gender was more for the sake of her crew and other pirates, not really outsiders to the waters. Either way, people always seemed to take her "male self" more seriously than the real her.
This plan of his, why did he need an entire crew of pirates? Usually when people wanted to hire them, it was specifically to attack a certain merchant who did them wrong, or rival pirate group who had attacked the one that wanted to hire her. It was either something very big, or the man was mad. Or, even more likely, both of those options. She eyed the man closely, trying to figure out exactly his intentions. "What exactly are we doing this for, and why?" Her crew was a good crew, and she knew they deserved those answers, there was no way a sweet-talking snake oil mercenary guy would lead them into a death trap.

"Heh." He smirked a bit at the captain before heading over to his table and moving away his little figurines before grabbing the map and heading back. "Sit down. Along with you." He nodded to Loreley for a moment before he leaned against the counter, rolling open his map as he pointed trough the dots, first to the one that was at the isles. "We're here." He then trailed his finger across the coast, stopping briefly at a dot that was nested near the coast of Nabata. "This is my base of operations. Got a few of my people there we're picking up."
He then trailed the finger until it went all across the coast, following the trail of mountains before stopping at a slight mountainous coast nook near the border of Lycia and Nabata. "And here... Is a gold mine. Private ownership of some noble nook, not too important to be heavily guarded but still important enough to be rich with gold." He nodded once before waving his hand to Loreley. "Here... We get the money for your journey and your new ship." He then looked to Morgan for a moment, grinning as he patted his hand on Morgan's shoulder.
"And here I'll get the gold to hopefully convince you and your crew to join me in my ambition. My ambition?" He tilted his head for a moment, before laughing for a short moment. He was putting his all into his presentation and charisma. "My ambition is a kingdom. A kingdom of men who are tired of Bern... Of Lycia, of Illia, of Etruria. Of everything old. Of everything that they see wrong." He raised his chin slightly. "MY kingdom."

Thinking on what the man just said everything seems crazy. But this could be my ticket out of the Western Isles. And if he wants this to succeed he'll need blacksmiths at some point. I guess I also just need a place to call home. If we pile on quickly others are likely to follow.
"I'm in. What do I do first?" Stating this at a good volume I stand up and extend my hand for the man to shake.
Wait... I don't think I ever got his name. "I'm William, I'll do whatever it takes." I clarify at a more normal volume.

Morgan followed his finger along the map. There was indeed a gold mine there as he said, many pirates had rumors and wills to grab it up, but none wanted to anger the owner and risk being hunted by mercenaries. She stiffened as he patted her shoulder, not wanting to give any appearance of being unsure. When it came to being a leader, appearance was everything, and this man had it. Guts, determination, and the look of course. She didn't really care if his ambition got him anywhere at this point, it would be an experience regardless.
"Beggin' yer pardon, 'Mr. King', but I don't think that we would join yer ambition so quickly. However, we will take on your job offer, and possibly more if you have what it takes to lead us. My crew are suited to the sea, and the freedom it brings, not the kingdom of some man. But we will take this job of yours, and see if you are the man you claim to be." She grinned the classic "pirate grin", that leaves the one receiving it wondering if they just made a good or bad deal. Truth be told, it was probably a good deal on the man Orys' side. He would get the funds that he needed for his campaign, and also have plenty to pay the pirates he hired to get it in the first place. Of course, if things were to go sour, it would be difficult to stop her crew from wanting all the gold to themselves, and not give it to the stranger. She would need to keep a close eye on her crew for this mission.

Not really wanting to get that close to the lot of them, but approaching anyways, Loreley gingerly took a seat at the table near where Orys had set his map down. Life was alright here. Why did she need to change it?... But that gold. And another ship.... Such things could completely change her life, and the life of her family.... Life was great here! There wasn't a call to go meddling with it and risking it all!... But, she'd be remiss if she didn't at least entertain the chance of finding fortune!....
Even with her resolve crumbling, Lore still wasn't convinced. Nor would she be by mere words, or promises of gold. Or even whole bags of gold. Orys was beginning to sound either delusional or suicidal. This made her think of something. Was this the ignition of another warlord, like the ones scattered all over the island already? It was a dangerous position to be around. More than that, he was talking about raiding a gold mine owned by... she looked closer at the map... a Lycian noble. That was half way around the world. Violence would abound. During the raid, and after. And if he did succeed, however wildly unlikely that was, there was no way that the countries of the world would abide the upstart. Not without him making certain that it was worth their while, at least.
All of this and more flooded through her mind, and yet, she couldn't quite bring herself to give an absolute refusal....
William was quick to join up. He had his reasons, the sailor had no doubt, but it still seemed beyond reckless. Captain Morgan was the other. The man was not so quick to sign on, but that promise of pay was buying some interest, as it was with Loreley. The blond haired sailor was lost at sea for her decision though.
As she tried to consider all aspects of the bargain. the daughter of the sea could feel something calling in her heart again. Calling to her a it had before on occasion. There was only one thing to be done when this happened.
"I... must return to my home before I can answer." She bit her lip as she finished, wondering She knew where she was going and for what reason now. Something in the region called to her family, and it had called to her more than it had any generation of her family in living history. Some dismissed such stories as too much ale and the overly dramatic, but she knew it was not the case. The people in her family and village had not advertised it, but the legendary Witch of Wake was more than simply a myth, and she was its inheritor.
"Your answer will come after the first clear night of a starry Wake." Her voice changed as she spoke, partly intentional, and partly instinctual. It no longer wavered, but instead spoke in calm certainty. Her posture changed as well, straightening from the flighty position of a runner to a steadfast speaker, even with almost all the people gathered around her being nearly twice her size or larger.

"Heh." He kept a little smirk like grin on his face as the people he had gathered went about their ways of saying that they had accepted his offer... All except this Loreley, who wished to answer later. He shrugged slightly as he stroked his chin, staring to her. "I'm leaving now, sadly. But... You know where to find us, if you leave soon enough to follow us, that is." He laughed for a moment, before moving and rolling over his map and placing his little figurines down into his belt bags. He then stretched himself once before turning around to face his two other recruits.
"... Captain, take the young man with you. He'll need a ride somehow. Make sure he doesn't die or fall off of the boat, I'll need him for a few things back home at Nabata." He nodded once before then handing out a map to the pirate. "Use this. We'll first rendezvous at my base in Nabata before setting out to sail to the mines. I'll assure you this will be worth it." He nodded as he then headed trough the tavern to the door, swinging it open as his face was met with the rainy wind.
"I'll hope to see you all when the time comes." Was the last thing he said before he slammed the door shut once he had gotten outside. He proceeded to head off to where he had stashed Balerion, before then starting to fly towards the base at Nabata.
The plan was going well.
