Name:Kaen (no surname)
Class:Squire
Age:16
Born in:Nation of Bern (exact city is unknown)
Appearance:Kaen's body and face make the young man look like less of a soldier with a deadly weapon and more like a noble who hides amongst silk sheets and furs.
His young, sharp looks tend to distract those who talk to him from the dark orchid-violet hue of his wild, unruly hair. Parted in the middle in an effort to keep it from covering his bird-of-preylike eyes. Sharp and angled, with a honey brown center.
Overall, Kaen stands at almost 5'9''. Shorter than men his age. With a thin, lean body. Just gently toned by hard work and armor. If he rode a pegasus and a wore a helmet he might just be mistaken for a woman.
Yet, he rides a large Bernese Wyvern. It dons shiny red scales which are untouched by neither blade nor fang. Seeing this wyvern has seen little to no combat, much like his rider. When summoned, the name "Fenris" is called.
Personality:Kaen has a kind, yet disciplined outlook. He trains hard with a spear, and his diligence made him learn riding at a young age. The fact that such an unimposing figure earned a Wyvern's friendship shows this.
The squire is very gentle and speaks casually to his equals, only speaking formally to those he serves, or simply bother to remind him.
Yet, Kaen tends to forget his manners and may not address nobles properly. Or he might even address them so humbly it is seen as an insult. He is not for courtly affairs.
When battle comes, however, Kaen will ride swiftly. He does not seek to bring neither violence nor death to others, but will never falter in taking up arms and defend those who cannot.
Story:
PRELUDE: Son of a Knight
Kaen was born somewhere in the Nation of Bern, whether it was countryside or city he does not know. His father and mother traveled the land in his early days, words of him being one of the men who defended the king during the Bernese Civil War.
Kaen learned much of his father, how to wield a spear, how to ride a horse, and why must these teachings be used for. To protect the weak, protect your lord and to destroy all enemies of peace. Kaen's early training culminated in him taming and befriending a wild wyvern, as the Bern military traditions of old say. Details on how the weak boy tamed such a ferocious specimen of the species is unknown, but the creature while follows his command it does not quite admire it's rider's strength.
However, Kaen lived on his own starting at age 14. His father and mother's fate are known only to him. Now, Kaen seeks to finish his training. After the recent rebel uprising, he saw an opportunity for peace for his country. Now he travels to Fort Macendew to join the rebellion.
ACT I: The gentle squire
Kaen traveled towards the Fort for various days, avoiding to bring any trouble to himself or his winged companion. On the way there, a few hours, in fact, he was assailed by three men, armed and armored in uniform. They demanded his water and food and coin, else they would strike him down. Clearly outclassed and outnumbered, Kaen attempted to flee, though a young man came to his rescue. With a honed blade, he engaged one of the men, giving the boy enough time to get to his wyvern. Yet, the fight was still in the Ilian's favor before a knight, clad in dark armor and wielding a spear appeared from within the shadows to fight them. Kaen could do little to help in the battle, but in the end he was saved.
The young boy introduced himself as Flynn, a traveling mercenary who mostly cared only for coin. The dark knight, who Kaen noticed was ruthless towards his opponents and unmerciful, quite unlikely for a knight, was Euphemious, a member of the Bernese rebellion. His job was to keep strangers from entering the fort, unless they were of trust, and while he just saved Kaen, he still seemed quite hostile.
This changed Kaen's attitude, not sure to trust the rebellion's motives if they were as bloodthirsty as this knight. Despite the man's blessing, he flew away from the Fort and moved to a nearby town. There, he heard of the Nightwings, a paramilitary group of specialized wyvern riders who were about to leave for Ostia. Kaen made the split second decision to attempt to find training from such men, and asked for directions from what seemed to be one member of such group. He flew to Ostia, where he met Captain Ilheod, a charismatic yer mysterious man who was currently tasked with clearing a fort of threats, undead or not. [Cont...]
