Ilheod had been leading Astraeus towards the barn even as the familiar sound reached his ears. Wing-beats. The Wyvern captain turned to examine the approaching rider. It seemed today was a congregating day for any who rode the scaled mounts. This time however it was another boy. Though he seemed older than the lad with the white haired Wyvern he knew from his poise and how he landed; he was still green. Perhaps greener than lad named Shugo. Ilheod paused while observing the reactions of the others around him. Astraeus seemed to be the only wyvern not to react in a defensive manner. Astraeus's reactions were prone to his riders; with his distrust extending further towards people as opposed to other Wyverns; or mounts in general ultimately. Ilheod's silver spear shifted as he waited for the others to finish speaking. He wasn't a commanding officer for Eren, or Shugo so he couldn't simply cut them off or order them else-wise.
As they moved to leave for the Barn Ilheod walked forwards towards the boy with his spear slung over his shoulder to prevent the tip from pointing towards the lad as he approached. Astraeus followed behind him. As with the other riders, opposed for Eren, Ilheod's wyvern Astraeus seemed far larger than normal. Astraeus had been around longer than the other riders wyverns and was far more built into acclimating it which complimented Ilheod's role as Wyvern Lord of the unit. He spoke up, gazing down at the lad for a moment with his twin shaded eyes gazing at the boy. Ilheod extended the silence to look the lad up and down once before speaking in a finite tone. "Aye, I'm Ilheod. What is it you need lad? Actually, hold that. Follow me out of the climate, then speak your peace."
While he spoke the rain started to cascade down a bit harder. A sudden shock of thunder rocked the sky despite no sign of lightning. The storm was a large one, for the thunder to be heard yet no lightning seen. The unit captain turned to place a hand on the side of Astraeus's neck as he turned his back to the boy expectantly while leading his wyvern to the shed. The rest of his unit was already inside with the two separate riders. He opened the doors to the large barn with the heavy wooden doors creaking a bit as they opened. Judging by the source of light flickering on the top floor of the barn, combined with the small campfire made on the stone surface at the center between stalls down the center he assumed two of his own had moved upwards to make spare room. That and the twin blue Wyvern tails dangling over the space in the ceiling told him which two it was by that shade of blue.
Ilheod waited a moment after entering before speaking, to ensure the newly arrived lad had followed him in. He then turned around suddenly, his entire body seeming almost rigid as he snapped into a formal stance with his spear resting butt to the ground and tip into the air straight up. His voice had a crisp edge to it and took a rigid tone as if he was about to enter combat once more."Nightwings! Attention!" The response was almost instant. Footsteps of the soldiers moving seemed scarce despite the distance. Longer strides and faster pace to rank and file formation. Each man had a specific spot to stand and when they had run drills they had moments to enter it. The slight delay of the two soldiers from the upper floor was shorter than imagined as they slid between spaces in the plankings with hands clasping the wooden beams before dropping the slight four foot drop left and landing only to assume position. Simultaneously after a delay all twelve riders lifted and stomped a single armored foot while clasping their fists to their breastplate with a resounding metal ring. They all responded in unison. "SIR!" Ilheod took three steps forwards towards them, still leaving Eren and Shugo to their mendings while he examined his unit. Astraeus followed Ilheod's progress but simply that and no other actions. Ilheod had to assure himself personally no one had been left behind and all were accounted for. He spotted however that one of his riders, Seth was leaning most of his weight onto his left leg. The slight shaking of it gave it away. Ilheod nodded towards it before taking a slightly relaxed position. "At ease! Seth, I know your trying but keep easy on that leg lad. No overworking it yet. "
While his riders returned to their mending and rest Ilheod turned around to examine the boy further that had arrived last. His tone had lost the edge it held naught but a moment ago while he addressed him. That tone was saved only for commanding. "What can I help you with lad. Why is it you needed to see me that you'd fly to such an obscure place as this?"

Kaen seemed quite intimidated by the first man who spoke up. He had quite sharp eyes, and an air of discipline on him. One you can only build through life-death situations. He gulped as he heard Fenris growl. It did not growl at the other, older wyverns. It did at the rainy sky. As if challenging the clouds themselves to stop dripping over it.
He saw a boy approach him, he was young. Maybe even younger than him, yet his armor and mount reflected more experience than the simple eye let on. He was the first figure that made him calm down slightly. Perhaps he was not as doomed as he thought he'd be.
Then, a final man approached. Wearing blazing-red armor and a weighty spear of an unusual color, gleaming and catching the little light around the area. Following him was probably the largest wyvern Kaen had ever seen. Larger than--no, no time to think about the past. The man's look was not hostile, actually it seemed he did not see they boy as an enemy. The wyvern...he could not tell. \
The first man, Eren, he called himself and the boy then promptly left looking for shelter. It's true, this rain might just be a storm as the old lady claimed. Maybe traveling here was bad idea. " Aye, I'm Ilheod. What is it you need lad?"
The red-clad man spoke. This was Ilheod. He was much thinner and younger than he expected. He assumed it'd be a large man, holding a broad axe and bearing many scars. He expected a much more...crude man. Then again, this man did command attention. It was a different sort of commanding aria. He answered.
"W-well, my na-"
"Actually, hold that. Follow me out of the climate, then speak your peace."
"Oh...of course."
He followed after him, the rest of the...squad? And the two riders who left first to a large barn. He had to coerce Fenris by calling out to him to follow. Apparently, the wyvern was not too keen on the idea. He tried pulling onto it's saddle, which made him see the scaled beast's large fangs, bared at him. The wyvern was not too pleased by the idea of bending down to other wyverns. It was definitely not happy. Yet, it slowly followed Kaen towards the barn.
"It's dry here, Fenris."
The beast growled again in defiance. Deciding to stay outside, the prideful creature. Kaen did not dare close the doors, fearful of losing sight of his companion. He heard a call to attention, and the men suddenly responding. His body found itself rigid just by hearing the commanding tone. He forced himself to relax his body.
The man, Ilheod started tending to what seemed an injured man. He looked around, noticing dark-plated armor, weapons stashed on a rack and plenty of soldiers. Enough men to fight the dark things that lurked this area of Elibe. Maybe this is why they were here. He looked at the wyverns resting in the warmth, at ease with their riders. He wondered what sort of sorcery they employed to completely tame the wild beast. He looked outside at Fenris, it seemed uneasy, yet it did not seem in the very least cold. If it was one thing, it was stubborn. Maybe that is why it refused to abandon his side.
"What can I help you with, lad? Why is it you needed to see me that you'd fly to such an obscure place as this?"
He heard the voice directed at him and finally turned back. He was only slightly startled this time. He spoke up, answering with the best serious tone he could muster.
"Y-yes, I am Kaen. I uh...I flew all the way from Bern when I heard of you, Sir. I uh...I learned of the Nightwings from my father, he was a soldier. One of your men directed me here. He said I might have a chance to squire under your unit.
It was a big and far-fetched request. He held no title, no skill, no real strength. But he had to try. It was his only chance to become a soldier to be proud of. His eyes reflected the determination his words failed to transmit.

Ilheod couldn't help but notice the boy's...difficulties with his wyverns disobedience stubbornness. With his spear reclined against his shoulder he gazed then back down to the lad. Wanting to be a squire? That would break up the tedium..sure...but if the lad hadn't a grip over his Wyvern yet at first it was likely going to be Ilheod that did more of the work. Ilheod let his gaze linger towards the two other males, Eren and Shugo. He spoke in a brief tone while he noticed the rain begin to drop heavier. It looked as if Astraeus and he were going to take a bit more time in the rain then they would have liked. He spoke after a moment, the gruff tone returning to his voice as he slung his spear of his shoulder and walked past Kaen. "Gents, don't mind us. This lad and I have a Wyvern to attend to it would seem. Astaeus." Merely mentioning it's name seemed to be enough for the large Wyvern as it tucked in it's wings as not to scrape them against the wooden beams supporting the second floor and roof. Rain drops quickly now began to fall downwards. Fat droplets of water that made the metalic ringing as they cascaded against the armor upon both he and his wyvern all the more noticeable. Ilheod looked to the blue haired boy before he started to speak, then directing a gaze if iron towards the boy's unruly mount. He slowly circled it, forcing his gaze to meet its while Astraes walked upon all fours circling as well. It was a familiar process to him. It was how he had been taught to tame wyverns, and in turn taught the newer of his lads when they had needed help.
"If you want it them to respect you, as a rider or a comrade you need to show them your on the same level. It might seem meed, like your trying to intimidate...but you want to have him follow you? Gotta show him your worth following. That..and if your my squire, that'll make Astraeus his pack leader. Wyverns in a unit have to follow the lead one. So they have to get used to seeing it and realizing it means to follow. It's not the only way, but I find it damn effective myself." He paused after circling to the point where he gazed at it directly. He stabbed his spear into the ground suddenly with enough force to easily lodge it in and render it berried unless equal force was used to pull the spear out. He spoke again gruffly. Ilheod had a youthful appearance, but the thirty six year old captain had seen his share of feats. "Astraeus. Your turn."
The Wyvern slowly extended his large wings, membrane between the bones causing an umbrella like effect over the ground beneath him while he stretched out with his tail whipping into the air twice. The Wyvern let out a partial shriek like rawr before folding his wings back up. However, it wasn't effective if only Ilheod asserted his stance towards the Wyvern. Turning around he removed his spear from the ground and pointed to Kaen with a finger; slinging the spear over his shoulder once more. "Your turn lad. Look him in the eyes. You stand there, and you stare with as much grit and iron as yer' worth. If it takes a minute, you look him in the eye for a minute. It takes an hour, you stand here and stare him down for an hour. Until he recognizes you fully, he's no good to us and neither are you. Welcome to the life of a Wyvern Rider."
Mimicking the words his instructor had once said to him so many years back it felt like a life time, Ilheod walked in a semi circle slowly. As he circled the boy and his Wyvern Astraeus circled as well. The shrieking roar of the wyvern had caused three of his soldiers to come walking closer to the entrance to examine. Alexander, Brom and Immen stood near the entrance. Immen leaned with his arms crossed against one support beam while Brom and Alexander stood near the left portion of the barn entrance. being some of the older members of Ilheod's unit, they observed while quietly making bets among the trio as to how long it would take the boy. Though they joked of it, when their laughter got a bit too loud a stern gaze from their captain quieted them. Ilheod knew he would need concentration. The lad seemed determined, but jumpy.

Fenris, the wyvern looked at the man in defiance as he asserted his will onto the creature. It's wet scales gleaming under the light, only embellishing the majestic look of the wild beast. It may had been smaller, but it had guts to challenge the man, backed by a larger and older wyvern. Fenris, however, backed down after the alpha-male like screech of the wyvern itself. Fenris lowered his head in a yielding manner, a glint of silent anger on it's eye. It, however did not look too pleased. Obedience came easier to some than to others.
Kaen, meanwhile looked astonished at how the unruly beast easily allowed the man to exert his will onto it. This wyvern constantly challenged the boy and any who approached, man or animal alike. Did it enjoy to make only HIS life difficult? Or maybe Fenris simply enjoyed pestering it's rider.
Kaen did not enjoy hearing it was his turn to look at the creature down until it backed down. He even wondered if he could do such a thing as to stare it down to submission. Might as well had told him to take a spear in the stomach. He gulped, uttering a quiet protest.
"Uh...I am not sure I ca-"
"Grrrr."
He was interrupted by Fenris himself, groaning a challenge at his rider. The beast eyed the boy, giving it a look of pure defiance. It's reptilian gold eyes gleaming with hidden intelligence in this call to arms.
"Uh..."
Kaen could not do less than to simply walk next to Ilheod, with a questioning look before he looked at Fenris.
"...you stare with as much grit and iron as yer' worth."
He remembered, giving the wyvern the most serious look he could muster. It was clearly not the same look he gave the man when he asked him if he could be a squire. It was...different, his inner fire was gone. He looked sort of silly, as if he'd start sweating soon enough.
A good 6 seconds happened before the beast let out a groan, or more like a scoff, and simply stood up and turned to walk away from the scene. Into the barn, away from the rain as the boy was drenched in the rain. The wyvern shook it's wings slightly and dropped on a nearby corner lazily.
""Eh...uhm..."

Eren chuckled. He remembered all too well how he'd first found Mika... He'd jumped off a cliff, intending to kill himself, and instead had been caught by his wyvern. That was a dark time, but now, it was much better. He had a purpose, a drive. He had fire in him.
"Kaen."
Getting up, Eren walked forward, taking something out of his pocket and holding it out to the boy. A hairband. It was Eren's signature purple, and the man's eyes had a strange sort of fire as he smiled grimly.
"Get the hair out of your face. It's dangerous to fight with low visibility. Plus, nobody will respect you if you look like you just came from a tornado. Now. Stand up straighter, and fix in your mind your goal. Wyvern and rider must synchronize. They must trust each other. Otherwise, you will never be able to perform maneuvers that endanger one or both parties. You must always trust in and support your mount, and your mount must always do the same for you."
Clapping the boy on the back, Eren nodded.
"I guarantee you can command the respect of your mount; you must just focus and be determined."
Putting on his armor and taking up his weapons, Eren turned to Shugo and Ilheod, and, to a lesser extent, Kaen as well.
"There are bandits still, no? Weather or not... I want at them. If they're hiding in a base, it doesn't matter how wet it is. We're mountless regardless.
So let's go. Shugo's done base raids with me before... And that went well. I have no doubt we can rout these chumbuckets."

As a act of pure defiance and childish bravado Shugo stared into the eyes of Kaen's Wyvern. The young boy was not going to let the winged beast defeat him. Every time it growled Shugo would growl back and eveytime Shugo would growl Luna would growl as well. It soon became a childish match of who going to stop staring and growling first, and Shugo was determined to win. However the boy's game was interrupted when Eren walked over and began to talk business. For the moment the game was suspended. However Shugo would return and he will force the unruly Wyvern to Submit.
From what Shugo could understand it seemed that Eren wanted to assault the bandits from the ground. It was a good stratagem in Shugo's eyes. The young boy was still iching for some more blood. He did not like the idea that the bandits had gotten away. Though it did bring up some serious challenges.
"I am going to have to agree with Eren", spoke Shugo adding his own two cent into the conversation. "The longer we wait the stronger the bandits get to secure there position. We had them on the run earlier with the Wyvern strikes so it is safe to assume that they are prepared for us to come again. However if we assault from the ground we will be able to firstly catch them off guard and secondly prevent them from digging in any further."
As much as Shugo pressed for a forward attack something in his stomach told him it may not be the best idea. Sure they could take the element of surprise but depending on the number of bandits this could quickly turn wrong. Shugo did not like fighting without Luna, and to be truthful he had no intentions of doing so. Shugo was not sure about he other Wyverns here, but Luna had experiences fighting on the ground. Shugo could take out his enemies with Luna out his side.

Ilheod took a moment to pause and look at the other two riders as they tried to help out Kaen. Well, Eren had. Shugo however seemed content to try competing with him. Which wasn't entirely helpful in and of it's self. Ilheod stood by his spot however until the boy had moved to follow the wyvern which after a time made it's way inside. The growling sounds of the opposing wyvern from Shugo wasn't helping either. Ilheod inclined his head as he looked to Astraeus before moving towards the entrance. His riders left the entrance of the bern to go back to their own wyvern's, the three men joking a bit as they walked by. Ilheod moved closer to the center of the barn as he turned to rummage through his back and extract one of the two dry towels within. A simple point to the rag; he dried his brown hair and shook his head until it took it's normal shape. The man's left bangs fell to obscure the alternate shaded eye. With less pigment, it's red hue typically unnerved others or drew unwanted attention. The man would sooner be considered a slightly less clean cut commander and let his prowess speak for him then be known as the man with a red eye.
Eren started to speak of assaulting now. He didn't like that idea honestly. While he couldn't command Shugo, or Eren; Ilheod would still present his opinion as they seemed to prepare for exit. Ilheod tucked his helmet under his shoulder while maintaining a grip on his spear resting upon his shoulder with the other. His green eye fell unto the two as he gazed at them both, able to see still through the eye obscured by brown hairs even if the hair blocked it from view. It just constricted his vision somewhat. "I can't admit I'm fond of the idea. A base raid is something, but they just got done being handed their arses in open fields. I'm certain they'll have raised an alarm just by being accepted back into the fort. We don't know their numbers. For all we know it's not bandits but a merc company. That means trained men, especially archers so our wyverns will be in serious danger regardless. They could have mages, or armored reinforcements within. I'm all for recon on foot, but I'd sooner wait for the storm to end to solidify information. "
He shifted to look at the men before taking a few steps closer to the center of the barn and inclining his head to his men. "I've lost a single rider, in almost twenty years. That isn't to brag that I say that, nor is it to boast experience. I don't receive reinforcements if I lose men, and if we charge in blindly with a full unit it increases the chances of us losing someone. I think it's smarter to wait until the storm passes to actually attack. Besides, if it's night and the storm clears? We've got the skies and my entire unit excels at nocturnal warfare. I can't stop you lads from heading out if you are really keen to, but I can't condone ordering my lads out into a blind raid either. I'd sooner scope it out then reform a plan. "

Shugo could not argue with his logic. It was true that they did not know if these guys were simple bandits. They could be more organized than they thought, but one thing was sure, Shugo did not like to simply sit and wait around. If the enemy was in front of you, you attack. Shugo did not care how you did it, but letting them just sit was never a good idea in his book. However the night wings were not going to move unless they had more information. That was pretty much set in stone by the commander's words. Following that logic then they simply needed to get more information on the enemy.
"Well then how about me and Eren simply scout out the enemy fortifications", spoke Shugo as a serious scowl crossed his face. "If we go up and poke around the place we could find out some information about the enemy forces. Even if the information will not lead to a immediate assault on the enemy it would prove to be invaluable in fighting them once the storm lets up. I recommend that the two of us take our mounts and travel on land. Luna has done some extensive sprinting across the earth before so I know she can handle it. Using our Wyverns as horses we can cut the space between us and the fortification in half the time. From there we can poke around where we think the defenses are low and try to gain information on the bandits. If things prove to hot we can just hightail it out. The bandits would probably not risk the chase with the thought of the wyvern units ready to strike. With the fear installed into them from the last assault I am a hundred percent sure they will not dare give chase."
The young rider had laid out his plan. Strike out during the storm and gain important information. If Shugo found there forces to be weak he and Eren would simply annihilate them and return the victor. If they were strong then they would simply retreat and give the information back to the nightwings, once the storm had ended they would begin the assault as a single fighting force.

The purple haired boy sighed at his mount's disobedience. It was a strange relationship they had. Ever since he and Fenris met, Fenris followed his command...well, more like his guidance. He was certainly not the wyvern's master. Fenris tended to himself most of the time, unless things were serious. They had fought as a team before, though Kaen believed himself to be lacking in that department too. It'd be a while before he'd call himself a proper Wyvern Rider.
He blinked, noticing the purple hairband he was given. He gave the man a thankful smile. Any advice would be good, and he seemed like he knew more about riding than him. He put the band on, clearing his eyes from stray hairs. It did not look perfect on him, but it did the job of clearing his vision.
"Th-thank you, Sir Eren."
He looked back at Fenris, the red-scaled wyvern let out a leisurely yawn. And made itself comfortable. It had been a long flight from Bern, he admitted to himself the beast needed some rest. He was somewhat tired himself, and not sleeping in a bed for a week now had taken a toll on his undisciplined body.
He turned to the conversation at hand. They were speaking of routing an enemy camp in middle of a storm? That did not sound like an advantageous situation to be in. He asked apologetically.
"Uh, if you don't mind me asking. What are you fighting here, sir?"
He still felt somewhat ridiculous with the headband on. But it was practical. And the sooner he stopped being a weight on their shoulders, the better.

Ilheod was quick to gaze at Shugo's Wyvern as the boy mentioned them scouting on land upon their wyverns. Ilheod shook his head a bit, speaking while keeping in mind he had no authority over the boy but he would atleast express the poor choice of idea. His tone was one of caution. "Your wyvern's too noticable lad. White sticks out sorely, especially scales, at night. That isn't to say you couldn't sneak up on them; however say you get in close and a guard walks atop the wall with a torch. You just roused the entire fort and it's but you two. Considering the one man almost matched me with but a blade I'm not sure these are simple brigands. He fought with trained skill. I'd guess mercenaries if I had to stake my life on it; which means diversity in their unit. They might be using brigands sure, but that man makes me feel somethings out of place here. If we wanted to do this the easiest way, and get the most information in one go then I'd say.."
Though he pondered for a moment the captains mind had clearly formed a plan before then. Ilheod had started contemplating how to do it on the approach back to town honestly. He didn't take threads idly. The man lifted a hand to clasp at his chin before thinking of it a moment longer. Then he whistled loudly. It was short, and it pierced the silence to get his men's attention from their idle conversations. The Wyvern riders of the Nightwings turned to look at their captain while Ilheod spoke. While he did so he lifted the single extension of bangs that blocked one of his eyes. Ilheod had been born with Heterochromia. A specific kind. While one of his eyes was a standard hazel shade the other was a dark red, the pupil almost contrasting to make the center have shades of candy red. A lack of pigmentation at his birth in the eye resulted in it being far more sensitive to light. It could see in the dark easier but it was far easier to be blinded if he relied on it. From within one of the pouches at his belt he pulled out an eye-patch. Using it to cover his good eye it now looked as if Ilheod had both eyes blocked. In reality he could still see through his hair but it was like a screen towards the light. He spoke in a crisp voice, sharp like a blades edge as he gave a command to the riders of his unit.
"Brom, Immen, Horst, Kyle. Patches on lads. When the storm clears It'll be open skys, but pitch black as any good night aught to be. We'll move in fast and keep quiet. Scan from above and pick up what you can, but don't stop."
Ilheod turned to gaze at Shugo once more, even if it was only through his bangs. "If you want to go in, go by foot. It'll be easier, infact going while in the storm on foot would mask your presences harder to detect from the downpour and the storm clouds blocking the stars and moon. Hide if you need to; either way once it's clear we'll fly out to scout from above. There's a reason were called the Nightwings lad. Here's your chance to learn why."
Kaen suddenly spoke up. Ilheod crossed his arms as he informed the boy. "In earnest? Couldn't rightly say lad. Seems like brigands, but one of em was good enough with a blade that he fought me close to a stand still for a time. Anyone like that isn't an average bandit, as I said before. So were going to scout it out and see where's best to hit 'em at. I don't plan on going in blind but they can't be left to their own deeds. "

Kaen gulped at the description of the company's quarry. Brigands, possibly trained by military standards all huddled up in a fort? He had heard you needed twice as much force to bring down any defensive enclosure. Though he did not expect living people making a headquarters off in Ostia, where the dead roam and prey on the living. He shuddered at the thought of a bandit strong enough to fight off the undead AND any who would threaten it's position.
He looked to the outside of the lithe wooden structure they had sheltered in. The storm had not yet passed, it seemed it could go on for days, as silly as he thought. Then again, he was never good at telling the weather, especially in foreign land such as Ostia. With a pondering gaze, he looked over to the man in red-armor, rousing the fellow troopers for action. He felt somewhat safer amongst them. Maybe he could learn from them, if he worked hard enough.
"Maybe I should keep this at the ready."
He walked towards Fenris, who lied lazily on a patch of hay. Not acknowledging his rider as the boy reached for the military grade iron spear straddled to the wyvern's seat. It seemed to have seen a lot of use, which you would not guess from the youngling.
"Uh, I could go and walk around on foot if you need me to, Sir Ilheod."
He walked towards the captain again, spear in hand. You could say he looked somewhat silly holding a weapon designed for killing. The rest of the men did not react to it, to his relief. Kaen attempted to make use of himself right away. Show he's willing to be part of this, danger involved. Sure, he had no combat experience, but he was lithe, and easy to miss.
He awaited the captain's answer with a worried look, not sure of what his command would be.

The boy approached Ilheod, the Wyvern Captain turned to gaze at him. Despite the eye-patch obscuring his crimson eye his normal one perfectly unphased; fixed upon him. Perhaps he'd have to teach the boy a bit more than just combat and flight tactics. he shook his head to imply a negative answer before taking a step from his Wyvern's saddlebags and to the side of the large draconic mount. His gaze returned to it as he fixed and adjusted slightly small off-standard sections of the straps for the saddle near Astraeus'es chest. When he spoke it wasn't critical, but as if stating fact. "Lad, unless you have extensive combat experience and prowess at stealth I'd say leave the spear at your saddle. " A snort by the large Wyvern inferred it's boredome before Ilheod gave him a hearty pat on the shoulder, gloves brushing scale when he did so to signal the wyvern's saddle was firmly on. He took his Silver spear from his side and turned to gaze at the boy, weapon butt pressing to the floor while he looked back down to Kaen before speaking again.
"The reason I suggest Eren and Shugo go by foot is because two is less noticeable. While I don't know of Shugo's prowess on foot, Eren who is a tested and proven knight vouches for him. I also know he can atleast handle himself in a fight well. Eren I trust because he's again, a tested and proven knight. If you want to be present, you can stay with the rest of the lads that don't go out to scout with me. Watch from there. "
After a pause he spoke up, the command in his tone returning as he called out. "Seth!"
From the upper part of the barn a voice responded. "Sir!"
Ilheod's gaze found Kaen again through the single eye as he shifted his weight to his other leg. "Keep an eye on kaen when we fly out. You lot are on stand-by if things go to hell. Make sure to Explain a few things, and no roughing the lad up. He isn't another grunt transfer. "
Seth's pause masked the grin. He knew what Ilheod referenced with such a comment. Disappointment hidden by a chuckle Seth acknowledged.
"Aye sir. I'll see it done."
Ilheod nodded before addressing Kaen once more. "There you are lad. If you want to do something useful, learn from this. Stay right outside the wall with the rest of the unit and observe. See how we operate and understand it. If your gunna be one of us, you have to learn to do things like we do."

"Damn this enterprise."
Mercenaries using brigands to attack towns? This was absolutely horrid. It was a level of heinousness that few would stoop to. And so Eren had no patience for these people, they who would scrape the bottom of the barrel and feel no shame. He would purge them with lance and axe... The weapons the smith Valcrist had made for him. The fine steel would lay flesh in ribbons.
"Okay, Ilheod. Shugo. If you want to scout... I will scout. Shugo, let's go. I'm not going to wait around. I've got no patience for these scum. We're going to get what information we need, and then I'm going to remove their limbs."
Eren looked at Mika, nodding and smiling grimly as his wyvern screeched and settled down. Stepping over, Eren grabbed his Spear and Tomahawk, and then slung his spear in its holster on his back, keeping his Tomahawk at the ready as he strode over to Ilheod and Shugo.
"I'll brawl as well as any man... Ilheod, you're versed in the sword, are you not? I prefer the axe myself... And so we'll complement and protect one another. Right. Shugo... Keep this in mind for when you decide to take up a second weapon. The sword is a weapon of finesse and tact. The axe is for quick, brutal fights. Anyway... Let's go!"
The Dragon Knight moved to the door, preparing himself for an inevitable fight. He was done waiting. Now was the time to strike out for justice.

So Eren was also of the mind for battle. It was good that the two of them thought alike. Shugo was not one for waiting around. He was not sure if he got that from Eren or that they both simply had the same creed. Flight was out of the equation so they would have to move on foot, or at least Wyvern Back. Shugo had some skill fighting on foot already. Before Valin introduced him into fighting on the backs of a Wyvern Shugo fought on foot with the lance. Like a little fortress Shugo was covered from head to toe in armor in those days. It was a wonder that he could even move. After taking up flying Shugo took a lot of that armor off, but he still kept his center breastplate.
"Alright lets see what they got", spoke Shugo. The young lad was eager to go into battle. Before they set off Eren began to speak about weapons and what they meant to use them. Swords were tactical, graceful, and swift, while axes were blunt, destructive, and offensive. Simple to understand, but complex when pondering the battlefield. Shugo's weapon of choice was always the lance and he did not think much from it. The main reason being that the lance was about the only weapon he could really use. Shugo was too young for a sword, his reach was not long enough and his legs too small to allow him to flank. A axe required to much raw strength and like the first Shugo's reach was in question. The lance however, it covered the reach problem and it was simple to learn. Shugo did not need the superior technique of swordplay or the brute force muscles of an axe. Shugo simply needed to put his spear tip where it needed to be and press forward. A very simple way to talk about a art far more complex, but it was true.
"Well Eren to be truthful I doubt I will be using any of the two weapons any time soon", spoke Shugo with a light chuckle as he tighten the strap on his helmet. The young boy was ready for there mission. He had no idea what they had waiting for them, but he was eager to put a end to there lives. Scum like them did not deserve to live. Death was the only fitting reward for there actions. "Alright Luna keep it on the ground", shouted Shugo as he rubbed the top of his mounts head. Luna then began to rush off, almost like a steed. It was really amazing how these beast could move on the ground.

"Aye, I favor blade myself with lance. Easier to swing, but it boils down to preference. Shugo, lad. Take care scouting on such a light shaded mount. Might get spotted. Since our armor won't catch the light and we've a specialty for nocturnal flights me and a small group can take to the heights and spot what we can. If we regroup after and put it together we can figure out the best spot to hit them. Something about this doesn't sit easy with me."
Ilheod observed as Eren and Shugo prepared themselves. He felt a bit uneasy in his gut about how quick they were to want to rush in. However as he had mentioned prior, they could go in if they liked. Him and his unit would take advantage of their Wyvern's dark colors and blackened armor. They weren't named the Nightwings on a whim. Ilheod whistled loudly, before speaking up clearly. "Brom, Immen, Horst, Kyle. Let's go to the skies lads. Stay high and keep the eye patches on till we get closer so we can get a good view of this place. Let's see what we can find, yeah? Don't engage, under any circumstances. If were spotted we flee, best to fight at full strength. Alexander, Seth! Stay with the lad and keep a view of us. Same rules of engagement apply to you lads. " Keeping the eye-patch on over his crimson-visually sensitive eye regardless Ilheod turned and leapt upwards onto the saddle of Astraeus. The Colossal Wyvern extended it's wings once as it stretched before coiling them and running out into the now slowed storm. Rain fell as naut but a light drizzle. First the massive dark blue Wyvern flew over Eren and Shugo's heads, and then the four smaller but almost equally fast ones belonging to Brom, Immen, Horst, and Kyle flew in persuit. Instead of flying off into the distance along the plains towards the ruined fort they turned hard and ascended quickly skywards. After a few moments they had all but become impossible to spot due to the dark clouds blocking the stars and moon, and the armored Wyverns and riders matching the backdrop in scale and armor shade. Ilheod's red armor would have usually stuck out, but his luxury of Astraeus being far larger than other Wyverns obscured him from site entirely.
The other Riders lead their wyverns out of the barn and into the space of land outside the town's walls standing idle. They knew what to wait for, and what they would see. The fort was still a fair distance even by flight away, atleast a few minutes flight but from high in the Sky Ilheod and the others would likely be able to get a decent scope of the situation. It would taken even longer for Shugo and Eren to get there, but from the ground they'd likely notice any patrols outside the walls.
