There was a tribes the preferred to live in the mountains to the west of Bulgar, there was one mountain peak that was peaceful for as long as the tribes living near it could remember. Then one day an odd event happened, a man who was known as a nice fellow in his tribe had started to act different, he was the type to give you the shirt off his back if you needed it but he started to act coldly towards the others. He would demand that others repay him for his previous acts of kindness, he even went as far as stealing from the others he felt that owed him. This wasn't an isolated situation either, a few other people in his tribe began to act the same way as well as other people in different tribes when they passed by that same mountain peak. After a couple of months people from different tribes had began to talk about the recent events in their own tribe and felt that it would be best to place warnings along the path to that peak.
Some of the Sacaes who were better in tune with the spirits could feel there was a disturbance among them upon that peak, they had sought the help of sages from other lands to see if they could communicate with the spirits to find out the source of the distress. Each time the sage would return, they were effected by it in the same manner as the tribe's people. They then turned to the hero of the land, Kenshin, to see if he could aid them. They had asked him a couple of times only to be turned down. He cast it off as a folk tale to scare people off, since then the victims of the rogue spirit had began to attack others, for what seemed like enjoyment only. Today, the request for the Crimson Demon's aid would come at a price.
Kenshin had made another routine stop in Bulgar to stock up on supplies, he wondered Sacae to find peace with himself. There had been people who referred him as 'The Crimson Saint' or things along those lines, each time he had heard them say they he would correct in calling him a demon. He did not want the name to strike fear into anybody's heart, but as a reminder to himself how terrible he could be. Even with him trying to guide others away from the path he had once taken during the Bandit Wars, he knew deep down he would still fall victim to the same mistakes. He couldn't bare putting his wife and daughter in danger with his reckless antics, nor did he feel he deserved to be with such fantastic people.
He had been walking down the streets when a young woman came running towards him, she nearly tripped him as she fell to his feet sobbing. He had known this woman, he found it to be odd that she was alone. Every time he had seen her, she had been with her husband, who was a friend of Kenshin. When he saw her in tears he knelt down next to her. "Judith, calm down. What's wrong? Where's Karl?" He took a moment to inspect her, she had been cut and bruised, as if somebody or something had attacked her. She had wiped away some of her tears, she was still too scared to talk. He helped her to her feet, "Let's clean you up, then you can tell me what happened." She nodded as she grabbed his arm looking over her shoulder.

It has been quite some time since Jya had spent so much time in one nation. There is just something special about the Sacae that had kept her there. Then again, for the longest time she never bothered with borders and territories. Since she had begun journeying the world, it has been fascinating watching the people and culture shift from one area to the next. The only problem nowadays that prevented her from doing as she done before was a title she never wanted. Now she had to be careful not to cross Bern or at the very least, change between varieties of clothing.
Looking about, it was quite a nice day out. There were a few clouds in the sky, but not enough for rain to gather. It was possible to change, but hopefully not anytime soon. The only problem with staying around Sacae was the lack of easy scores. Unlike the centralized and heavily populated cities of the other nations, the towns and cities here didn’t have quite as many easy marks. It was also difficult to steal from the general populace here. She feared her hand getting chopped off if she was ever caught. Even though funds were running a little low, she managed to get by from scoring big with merchants. They always have some funds tucked away somewhere and it helped that she always kept rather quiet out of habit.
She extended one of her arms up into the sky, stretching until she could feel the warmth of her muscle. It was actually rather peaceful here, but even this peace was not bound to last. There always seem to be some drive that kept her moving. In the past it was to search for a cure to her illness, but now, it just seemed to be a force of habit. A quick glance to her side made her catch some rather red hair. She locked on a bit, her eyes narrowing as she tried to focus on the face. She could have sworn her eyes were lying, but it really looked like Shinta. A heavy lump began to form at her throat.
Within moments, she was on her feet, weaving and moving towards the man. The closer she got, the more tense she became. What was the best way to approach? After finding a great lack of words to say, it was settled for her to simply stay a distance and observe until an idea formed. It wasn’t long before a woman approached Shinta and he in turn seem to help her. Lying low, Jya waited, listened, and took a few peaks, just to be sure to stay in a relative vicinity of the two.

So that was him, thought Orcleous to himself as he looked on. The Crimson Demon of sacae, as the rumors suggested many of the sacean people saw him as a saint, thought Orcleous thought it was more intone to a god by the way the woman feel to his feet. It was strange for Orcleous to understand how a man could obtain so much power and respect in the mind of these people. He had heard the saceans were savages, but nothing he had seen in their land suggest that, till he arrived here. Rumors began to spread about betrayals and shifts in people's personality. It was a interesting story that most definitely need some investigation. However the word of Sages being affected and Shamans did frighten Orcleous a bit, but he had been in worse situations. To be truthful Orcleous did not even believe the mountain was the cause of the change. He chalked it up to some monster or some beast. He had seen his fair share of baddies in Lycia.
Without a word Orcleous pulled his deep green hood over his head and began to walk out from the alleyway he was spying on. He had seen somebody he knew, or at least he thought he knew. He did not know her directly, but the two of them had crossed paths in the past. Without her knowing it she had a major effect on Orcleous life. He thought he should at least say hello, though he made sure to keep enough distance and the lack of malice to keep her from simply knifing him.
"Yo", spoke Orcleous a good distance away from the woman. He made sure to keep a sharp eye on her hands. Never ignore a assassins hands. That was the easy way to getting killed. For all he knew she could turn around and throw a knife at him, or toss a smoke bomb his way. If she was really creative she could throw a vat of poison gas at him, thought the stuff was mainly rumor Orcleous took it as true.

Kenshin had helped the woman to a near by hut, there had been a few people inside. He had told them to fetch him a bucket of water and some clean rags, they knew exactly who he was so they did do with no questions. Kenshin had tried his best to calm her but currently his attempts had failed. It didn't take long for them to return with what he had requested, with a simple wave they knew he was asking them to leave so they listened. He dipped the clean rag into the water and began to wipe away some of the blood and dirt from Judith's face. "Please, I would like to help you but if you don't tell me what's wrong I can't." She had sniffed a few times, and winced as he drug the cold, wet cloth across her face where her cuts were. "Karl and I were traveling through the mountains, the one where warning signs about. We thought it was just somebody trying to scare us." Kenshin had nodded "I know about the ones you're talking about, I heard the rumors too." Her breathing was still frantic, even with him genitally cleaning her face and trying to calm her.
"We were traveling up that path with another friend of ours, I honestly don't know what happened. He was so nice, but suddenly he had turned to me. He said something about how it's been a while since he felt a woman's touch, I began to feel scared there. When he started to walk towards me Karl stepped between us, he hit Karl which caused him to fall to the ground. Everything happened so quickly, I tried to see if Karl was okay, but he stopped me and forced himself on top of me as we both hit the ground. I tried to escape but he was stronger than me, by then Karl had tried to stop him. The two fought for a moment before he took out a dagger and stabbed him a few times." The woman had broke out into more tears, Kenshin put his arm around her, she didn't have to finish. He knew what had happened from there based on what she had said already.
"I... I... don't know what happened, but maybe those warning signs were right. We shouldn't have gone up there." Kenshin was silent for a moment. "This is my fault. I had been asked to travel up there to see what was going on, I had dismissed it as a false story to scare people. If I had taken it more serious then Karl would still be here with you. I'm going to travel there now, to see if I can put an end to what ever is going on." He rose to his feet, exiting the tent back into the city, he was to travel up that path and see what lurked on the top of that mountain. But in order to do that, he would need some supplies. He wondered the streets stopping at merchant stands purchasing what he would need to make the trip.

Jya kept watch of Shinta, only to be suddenly called out to. It was a definite surprise as she wasn’t expecting to meet anyone she knew. Turning around, she soon found a face she recognized, but not a name. They have met sometime in the past, but only briefly. She let out a sigh, believing that he shouldn’t be too much of harm. For once, her hands relaxed their hold on one of her throwing knives. It was a peaceful gesture as she showed that her hands were empty and placed her right index finger over her mouth to be silent.
By this time, she turned to look for Shinta, only to see him start moving with the woman. They entered some sort of hut. With quick, soft, and soundless strides, she moved to catch up with the man. It mattered not if the man followed along, the most important thing was to keep quiet. This whole apologizing idea seemed to become quite complicated. So instead of thinking of the best way to speak to him, she chose to listen. It was surprising what one heard if they trained their hearing. With the walls made as they were, it wasn’t difficult to get the gist of what was going on.
She felt a great deal of sympathy towards the woman. The stories from the mountains troubled her as well and she was the type that tried to stay out of trouble if possible. Now that Shinta was getting involved, she felt compelled to help, even if there wasn’t much that could be done. When he left the hut to do his collecting, she followed as well, gathering a bit of courage with each step, before she finally declared out loud.
“Wait Shinta, I want to help, please,” she called out, finally stepping out of the shadows for once. It made her feel exposed out in the open, but that was more due to how she had been living up to this point than anything else.

Orcleous was a bit surprised that the Wraith did not react in a violent manner. He was sure he was going to get a dagger to the chest or a smoke bomb to the face. It was then however that Orcleous remembered that he had his uniform on, well kind of uniform. Assassins never really wore the same thing, but usually they wore green. Orcleous hooded robe was decked out with two shoulder guards and a very light weight breastplate protecting his chest hidden under the layers of cloth. At first glance you would probably say Orcleous was a mage with a pension for protecting his shoulders, but underneath he had a array of knives and his trusty flame sword The Fiery Dragon Blade.
When Jya gave the signal to be quite Orcleous shut up. It was better to avoid getting into trouble with the person who inspires your cult. Thought to be truthful Orc never bought into the whole idea of her being a assassin from god. Nah, he was not a spiritual person and even when murder and coin were involved he would not simply jump on the bandwagon. Orcleous joined up because he liked the work. The Cult of the Green Wraith was taking out several people who really needed to be assassinated. Orcleous being a member of the profession decided it would be to his advantage to join a group. Though he did have bad relationship with another guild of assassins in the past he expected this one to turn out better.
The entire time while Jya was spying on the crimson demon Orcleous was simply keeping watch. He really did not care about what was going on in there, but one thing was true about the situation, he totally got it wrong. From a distance Orcleous could not tell the woman was banged up. He thought she was bowing down at the man's feet or something. It seemed that Kenshin was not as much a icon in the sacean culture as he thought. Though Orcleous had to admit that he was not far off from what the woman was. He had joined a cult dedicated to one person, thought his reasons may be different he was still a member.
"I am surprised you recognized the uniform", spoke Orcleous as Jya's target moved out of ear shock. The man seemed to be buying supplies and the Wraith was following. From the lack of a knife in the man's neck once he left the tent Orcleous could safely assume that he was in fact not one of her targets. Still if she wanted to keep tabs on people why did she not send the cult members to do it. "In case you do not know The Cult of the Green Wraith has members inside of sacea. If you wanted to keep tabs on people you know you could have sent a few of them to do so."

Bulgar. Duma looked at the small dot that signified the city's presence on his map. It had been some time since the swordsman last stepped foot in the Sacaen capital. He hoped to find a friend of his and arrange sleeping arrangements for the future. But after searching up and down the city, talking to a few locals, he learned that no one had seen hide nor hair of her of her tribe. He kept staring at the map, his mind trying to piece together from memory where her tribe usually trailed. But it was no use.
I better not let this visit go to waste. Need to stock up on some supplies, find a tailor, and find some work. He thought as he neatly folded up the map and placed it back into his pocket. The swordsman had heard through local gossip, rumors about tribes in the mountains, being plagued by something. The rumors stated that they made normal men go crazy with greed and lust. Duma leaned against a wall and thought long and hard about weather or not to go investigate.
Normal men going insane.. I've heard of a similar tale of those who go crazy from isolation. He recalled one of Oglaf's tall tales of mountain men whom lose all sense from hunger and cold. Those who were fround to have cannibalized their comrades. He wondered if a similar case was happening here. But for the whole tribes? And for it spread to other's in such a fashion... He could not believe it.
A bit of a scowl etched itself upon his face. As his feet began walking through the market towards the shops. His mind still trying to figure out a logical means for such a change in other wise normal human beings. His first assumption was sickness. It was not uncommon for people with fever, to lash out, hallucinate, and think irrationally. But after his run in with the Baels back in Lycia, he assumed it's the work of a monster. And if it IS a monster. Well if it dies, maybe the people can regain their senses. He stared out west, gazing at the mountains which loomed out in the distance.
"Guess I've made my choice." He sighed a bit. Not particularly looking forward to the climb up.
"Mountains tend to be cold. Let's see if I can buy something warm for the climb." He spoke to himself, before heading off to find the fur vendor.

Kenshin knew he was going to need more food and water for his journey up the mountain. That was the easy part to find, as he walked pasted some of the stands he started to check his boots, the ones he wore were beginning to fall a part. It was nothing major though, if he was to do normal traveling they'd hold up for quite a while but going up the mountain paths he figured he may need new ones. It didn't take him long to find new ones and by the time he finished lacing them up and putting them on he heard a voice call out to him coming from the shadows. The voice was that of a woman, he did not know who she was talking about when she had said Shinta but he did know she was talking to him since there wasn't very many people around. She had appeared to be traveling with a hooded figure, could they be assassins out to kill him?
If they were, it wasn't the first time somebody had tried to take his life but it wasn't very often they did in broad daylight in the middle of the streets. He took a defensive stance, with his right shoulder towards the duo and his hand on the hilt of his Wo Dao, he didn't return any exchange of words with her, he was going to let his actions speak for him. He had glared into her eyes, he could tell the woman could be a threat but her eyes said other wise. The way she had looked at him, he knew that look all to well. It was a look of admiration, he often saw it in the eyes of young women who wished for him to leave his family and run away with her to start a new one. No, this look of admiration was different, she had also looked familiar as if he met her before.
He didn't get a chance to get a good look at the Emerald Wrath in the arena but he was fairly certain that's who this woman was. He had lowered his guard, taking a more natural stance. The last time the two spoke she was just a child, and now she was a woman. Time sure have passed since then, back then it had appeared as if it were days since she last ate. She looked terrible then, but now? One would have never guessed she had a rough childhood. That was the most he could remember about her, he knew he didn't give her his real name back then, was Shinta what he told her his name was?
"I saved your life twice, and that's how you greet me? Can't even say 'hello' to an old friend?" There was another question he had wanted to ask, what happened? He wanted to know what happened to her since he saw her last as a child, why did she attempt to murder that woman back in Bern. This wasn't the place to ask that so he would have to hold onto that question.

Jya looked back at the hooded green figure that she had apparently met in the past. Now she was desperately looking for a name. There was some sort of mention of a...cult? Was her ears playing tricks on her? Did he say that she could get the aid of a cult? As though to test the waters and to just release her disbelief. How can a nobody like her have a cult?
"There," she began, pausing as she thought about it some more, was it her actions that lead to it?
"Is a cult?" she finally asked, after turning her face away as to not reveal her insecurities. What she found was Shinta on guard, his hand on his blade. She immediately held up her hands as to show she meant no harm and had no intentions of harming him. She just wished to return the kindness and care he had given her in the past. When it came to repaying kindness, she was willing to risk her life on it. It was also useful in distracting her mind from other matters. A cult? That was silly. When he mentioned about saying hello, she realized how different her nature changed. This might the first time he noticed them, while she had tailing for quite some time. It had become awkward to say hello, having spent so much time running and hiding by herself.
"Sorry, I haven't been around people lately," she admitted to her anti-social behavior. She didn't dislike being around people, she actually spent a lot of time walking around immersed in them.
"Hello," she finally greeted,"It's me Jya." At that note, she finally managed a natural smile. It was odd being in front of the man. It was nice to feel like a child again, although a hell of a lot stronger and alive. Now that she was sure she wouldn't collapse after running for a few seconds, she actually felt as though she could repay the kindness.

"Wait you did not know", spoke Orcleous with surprise. He was sure the patron saint of his religious cult organization would be involved in the organizations structure and dealings. However from the look of things it seems that was not true. Then that also meant that others were dictating what to do using Jya's name, but never really talking too her. This did not bold well for the cult if it ever got out. It also did not bold well for Orcleous to let it out. It would probably be best to keep this to himself, or at least for a while. Shoot he might even be able to get himself a nice position out of this. Head assassin was a pretty title to aspire to. However the mercenaries scheming and dreams of gaining cult power was interrupted by the crimson demon himself. The man touched his sword, which was a clear threat of attack. Orcleous however did not move as he knew doing so would only ignite the man's reaction. However things quickly defused as the maiden Wraith seemed to calm things down with a her jester.
Almost like a child the Emerald Wraith seemed to be talking with Kenshin. Orcleous wondered why she called him such a weird name, but then again Kenshin could actually be a title for all he knew. Rather than get involved with the reunion of the two Orcleous simply stepped aside and held his position. The Wraith may not truly run things in the organization, but she was still its shinning symbol. Orcleous could have no honor than to simply guard her during this mission she was thinking about taking up. Though he was not sure how the demon would react to him. Sure he had not shown any threat, but that did not mean he was not a foe. For all he knew the crimson demon could still consider him an enemy. That would be bad as Orcleous already made up his mind to follow the two of them and protect the Wraith from monsters or whatever it was that hid out in the mountain.
"Orcloeus", spoke the hooded assassin as he straighten back up his hood and sat toward the side all mysterious lie. He wanted to avoid a conflict all together and at the same time gather as much information about the man as he could. "I am not a threat, nor am I a enemy. I am simply a watcher", spoke Orcleous as he waited for the response.

Kenshin had smiled when Jya had 'introduced' herself to him. He couldn't explain why he felt at ease around the girl, it could very well be the fact that when they first met she had reminded him of his gentle side. Back in those days there was only one thing on his mind, revenge. Other than Katara, Jya was one of the few people that reminded the suicidal swordsman what it felt like to be human. Seeing her back then in the state she was, it caused him to take pity on her, that even though he had lost his entire tribe outside of his cousin, there were people worse off than him. Katara was able to remind him what love was, and Jya showed him compassion for a stranger again.
Even though he wasn't too happy about what she had done in Bern, he felt at peace seeing her. He walked over towards her, patted her head a couple of times before messing up her hair up by rubbing her head before returning his hand to his side. "I remember you. It's been a long time since we actually talked. I would like to catch up with you, there's a few things I'd like to talk to you about but I'm sure you know I have more important things to do." He had looked over towards the man who introduced himself as Orcloeus. The look on Kenshin's face went from a happy one, to a stare that could kill a man, if looks could kill. He didn't know what his relationship was to Jya, but he couldn't forget about the man she traveled with the last time he saw her. His name slipped Kenshin's mind, but the fact he had claimed to be the girl's guardian and allowed her to remain in that state was troublesome.
"Orclouse is it? I don't know what your relationship to her is, but make sure she stays safe." He had looked back towards Jya, his demeanor had changed back to more of a gentle one once again. "Please, call me Kenshin. That's my real name." He said with a worried smile.

OOC- Y'all may feel free to skip ahead of me until meeting of the main group. -- He found the fur vendor and bought himself a warm vest made of rabbit hide. It cost him a bit more coin then he liked but it would do for now. He found himself a quiet patch of wall with a hook and removed his top robe like garment and set it on the hook. He put the rabbit vest on over his normal undershirt. To test for size and to see how well he could move around in it. The vest fit well which he found surprising. And he did feel a bit warmer. He ran his fingers through brown and grey furs with a soft smile. Thank you rabbits. Your scarifies will not be in vain.
He drew his sword out and gave it a few swings. Nothing too different. It just feels strange to have an extra layer on. I suppose it is something I need to get accustomed too. He put his sword away and redressed. He hoped the vest, his robes, and the cloak (which he carried in his bag), would be enough to shield him from the cold. The swordsman continued his venture through the market picking up what else he thought he would need. He managed to buy some rope, mend the glove part of his hand guards, and patch up a tear in his boots.
He made his way to the western exit of the city. The people had constructed a small shrine near the exit, as a means to appease the spirits and protect the city from the "affliction". There were several people scattered in prayer around the shrine. Mostly villagers and elders from what he could tell. He had hoped to spy a few brave souls who might be going towards the mountain themselves. And potentially join them. He could hear the words of his father in his head, cautioning him about mountains. Kids it is unwise to tackle any mountain on your own. Both the physical one and the metaphorical one. The voice in his head mocked. Unfortunately, "father" there does not seem to be anyone willing to make the journey. At least not here, yet. Maybe. He thought now would be a good time to pray for safety and clear his head.
He approached the shrine and quietly got on his knees in front of the shrine. The white smoke of incense and ashy scent of burning herbs tickled his nose. The scent was oddly pleasing. He pressed his palms together to form the classic prayer style, closed his eyes, and silently prayed.

Jya knew that she should would be explaining things sooner or later for her action in that arena. It was easy to recall for her to recall that she had made a mistake when she jumped into the arena and stabbed the woman. The only reason she was still alive was thanks to Shinta and the huge distraction that occurred afterwards. The only thing that she was responsible for was the stabbing, but somehow it got grown far out of proportion. Someone even managed to get a wanted posted of her, among a few others that claimed to be the wraith as well. The existence of the cult was actually helping her, especially if they also choose to wear so much green.
When he went over and patted her on her head, it was quite strange. Honestly, she never really considered herself any older. It was honestly very nice to be patted on her head. She rarely got pats even from her parents, so it was rather soothing for her. When he tussled her hair, she realized that people her age might find it embarrassing, but her face flushing was from that of a child being encouraged.
"i'll be sure to," she promised, but one of the most shocking revelations came to her only moments after. His name was not Shinta, but in fact, Kenshin. Why he would lie about his name to a child, she would never know. The problem was that for the past five or so years, she had only known him as Shinta. Plus as she recalled, Kenshin was also the name of the Crimson Demon of Sacae that she heard some rather frightening tales about. It still didn't connect that they were the same person though, so she shrugged it off as a coincidence. When he threatened Orcleous about her safety, she shifted her head to the side in confusion.
"But, I seriously want to help Shin-Kenshin, I mean, I don't have to worry about vomiting anymore after a run," she pleaded her case, rather determined to come along to his aid.

The scene that appeared before Orcleous was a bit unnerving. Here was the patron saint of his order, Jya, the emerald Wraith, acting as a mere child. Orcleous was not sure if this is why everyone thought she was a gift from the divine or if they scene this they would take back there faith. Either way it was a good thing that Orcleous did not buy into all the religious mumbo jumbo. If he had been a devout Wraithian he was sure he would have burned his green uniform by now. First the Wraith did not even know they existed and second she was acting like a lost kitten. They sure don't build cults like they use too.
As the crimson demon began to speak toward Orcleous he could feel the malice in his voice. However, his words, they were just far to hilarious for Orcleous to take so seriously. The assassin tried to keep it in at first, but like a horde of raging bandit the irony of his statement tore down his logical wall. Suddenly and without much of a warning Orcleous broke out into laughter. He was sure his actions were completely disrespectful, but the truth of the matter was Jya did not need his protection. Sure he may think he could be protecting her, but the truth was it would be more like she was protecting him.
"Me protect... the Emerald Wraith? The same maiden who skill with the blade and quick step inspired an entire cult to follow in her example. The same woman who scared me stoneless the first time I meet her with, but a simple stare. Now that is hilarious", spoke Orcleous as he regained his composure. "The truth of the matter is she does not need my help. Me being here and tagging along for a while just might be a hindrance. I am just here to watch and learn and make things easier when I can. Oh! Just so this is official. When you and the Wraith head out up into the mountains, I intend to come with you all. She may not need my help, but I am still a wraith. It is my duty to aid the maiden of death, whenever and however possible."

Kenshin knew that Jya would come with him, even if he had protested. Orcleous' response did not sit well with Kenshin, all he had knew was those mountain tops had changed people and he wasn't sure if he would fall victim to the curse either. In the event he had, it wouldn't be the first time he had caused harm to somebody he cared about, the last time was when Bern had attacked Katara's home, he thought he could stop it if he went ahead and killed their commander alone but he was captured. Instead of killing him, the witch he met in the desert had used some weird staff on him, the next thing he could remember was being on the battlefield fighting those he had sought to protect.
He had returned his focus on the man once again. "How does a coward expect to learn courage from another?" Kenshin had originally planned on going up there alone but it had seemed like some higher being, if there was one, had other plans. Orcleous had admitted that he was a hinderence to Jya, by the sounds of it he was already refusing Kenshin's request. He had wish to say more to him, but he didn't want to start a fight in the middle of the streets or upset Jya. He looked back at Jya, it was amazing how he be a gentle sounding man then a complete asshole in only a few seconds. "I know you're coming with me, since I'd like to talk to you about some stuff, you would have to. Thank you for offering." He had placed one arm around her and pulled her closer to him.
This girl had a mental image of a man who was a saint, in all truth it was merely a wolf in sheep's clothes. He was far from a saint, he wasn't sure if she knew who he really was but that was one of the things he had wished to talk to her about, it wasn't all about what happened in Bern.
