This was it, time to depart from her home of almost a quarter century. She took one last look at her supplies to make sure that everything was packed up. Tent, bedrolls, plenty of food, LOTS of water, all on her pegasi's saddlebags. She patted the mare's neck softly. She was trained for war, not to be a pack mule, but this was what they needed now, and it would have to do until they found a new home. "Don't worry Lily, I'll make sure that you get some time to fly when we set up a camp, this is only temporary, okay girl?" The pegasus seemed to acquiesce to it, and she strapped her lance to the mare's side, making sure that no movements would jostle it.
"I understand how you feel about leaving, Levity. But we, at least, will always welcome you and your sister back here if you are in the area." An old voice called to her from behind, and she turned to see an old caretaker, a lady from the village who had helped her mother occasionally, and helped her with raising Liv. "Thank you, I don't know when we will come back to visit, but we definitely will..." She looked off in the distance of the town, towards the village graveyard. She had said her goodbyes to their parents this morning already. "I want to make them proud of me, but living here... it feels like I won't be able to stop being a child here, because they are watching me."
"It's alright, Levity. You are a grown woman now, and you are perfectly capable of making your own decisions. Besides, you sure aren't going to find any strapping, young lads out here, they've all gone to the army!" The old lady chuckled, but Levity just sighed at her. "That's not what I'm leaving for." Mostly. "It's too unsettling here, and the work seems to have run dry, so Liv and I are going to head down south, see if we can find some work for other Ilians, maybe Sacae even. She's barely seen anything besides snow, it will be a good experience for her. Just... if you here news about the Sacaen plains having a large and sudden brushfire, please send someone down to help." She said so jokingly, about her sister's powers, but there was some truth to it at least. Her hair wasn't short only to help with flying, it seemed to get shorter and shorter everytime she had to cut the singed parts off.
"Liv! Are you ready to go? Did you pay your respects to mum and dad yet?" She called out, wondering where the little mage had run off to. She seemed so excited at first, but then disappeared as soon as you tried to look for her.

Liv had loved her life up to this point. There was little for her to complain about, especially since she wasn't the one supporting her sister. Even so she couldn't help, but be a little greedy. It was a peaceful town and she had plenty of friends. There was simply no work for a fighter like her sister though, so she understood. Once again she counted her possessions, one pouch with a few emergency coins, warm clothes, water, some snacks, her fire tome, and their father's broken hilt. This was all that she called her own. Looking around the room, there were scorch marks staining the ground and walls in erratic patterns.
"Okay ma and pa, I'm gonna be strong like big sis," she said as she slowly put away her items. She got up, dusting off her pants and silently reinforcing how strong she was going to be. As she looked out the window, she saw three other kids at the back of the house. She had to say goodbye to her old crew at least.
"Hey boss, leaving on a journey huh?" the only boy that wasn't crying said. She nodded, forcing back her own tears.
"You guys better not cause any trouble ya hear," she choked out, feeling a drop of tear fall. She always seem to make friends with the ruffians in the neighborhood. She had managed to wow them with her fire magic at one point (without burning anything important). All of them nodded as the smallest handed her a stick. It was honestly a very nice stick, smooth and pointed at the end.
"Let the sword serve you well boss and make sure to come back when you become a super strong sage," the last boy said. With their farewells given, they couldn't stand any longer and waved farewell. She dashed back to the front of the house to find one of her old caretakers with her sister. She ran forward and hug the kindly old lady.
"Bye Nana, we're gonna be famous," she declared, burying her face into the woman's shoulder. It was awhile before she finally pried herself off the woman and wiped away the lingering tears.
"So begins the Legend of the Serano Sisters!" she called out, her happiness and excitement forced on max as she raised her pointy stick into the sky. She then ran over to her sister and Prettywings, happily declaring that she was ready for their adventure.

Levity smiled brightly as she saw Liv approach, nothing filled her with joy more than to see her sister's smiling face. She pat Liv's head gently on her approach. "It's going to be a lot of walking Liv, Lily doesn't need to carry more weight than she already is, though I'm sure she can give you a ride later." With that word, she waved goodbye to the old lady and started to walk off out of town, towards the southwest, gently holding onto her pegasus' reins to keep her moving forward.
"Keep up Liv, we have a long way ahead of us." It was a nice walk, not too many trees yet, thankfully. She hoped to be able to talk to her sister for a bit while they were on the road, since it was just the two of them. Adventurers seemed plentiful enough, so she didn't think they would be alone the whole way down. "So, Liv, what kind of place were you hoping to live in? Or are you just excited to feel what warm air is like?" She teased her sister, since the girl didn't know much of the world beyond Ilia. "I think you'll enjoy it when we get out of Ilia, the land feels nice, rather than harsh. And no, it's not warm like your fire spell warm, that's just on the opposite end of harsh." She said preemptively, knowing that Liv was going to ask about it. Her sister and her spells were always difficult to deal with, it felt like.

Yes, Liv had to be strong, not just for her, but also for her big sister. To show a moment of weakness is like admitting defeat, as said by some famous dead person, probably. This journey was as much to get strong as it was to find a new home. It would be a lie that she wasn't very disappointed that she doesn't get to ride on Prettywings. Looking at the amount of stuff the pegasus had to carry, it was obvious how encumbered she was. All Liv could do was reach out and gently stroke her neck with the tips of her fingers. If her sister's mount was anything, but a pegasus, she feared that it might have been cooked by this point.
"Okay, I can do it, so you don't have to worry sis!" she encouraged, her face practically beaming. She tug at her bag and thought about how far they were really going. It wasn't long for them to pass the farthest point she ever reached. After breaking her record, that was when the true enormity of their decision began to settle. They really were moving out of their quaint little town. She paused only for a moment, before quickly stepping after her sister. She had no idea what to expect outside of the cold frozen lands of Ilia.
"Anywhere that doesn't burn down easily," Live chimed in, after thinking a bit on the matter. While they were living back at the town, there was plenty of place she could throw fireballs and not burn something down. There was also a surprising number of things that were meant to fireproof that she managed to set on fire. It would just be troublesome if they were kicked out of their new home from a little mistake.
"So if we go somewhere warmer, I can wear less thick clothes," she remarked, looking down on her thick coats and stuffed clothing. It meant that she could be even more free!
"My fireballs can totally bring nice warmth!" she lied, flushing over at the thought. The lie was more to keep face than anything else and she didn't want to prove it at the moment.

Samantha was walking down a road, clutching her cloak around her. She loves Ilia, but phew, it could get cold here. That was part of the reason why she had decided to start heading south. Where south, she didn't know yet. But south was warmer and she could do with some warmer right about now. It had only been a day since she had set out from home, but she already was understanding why not too many people didn't just stroll around Ilia. She had hoped that she would be able to stop at night and read, but she learned last night that that was not something she'd be able to do here. She was lucky enough to reach a small town last night, but tonight she may not be so lucky. She walked towards the town gate rather regretfully, the thought of a cold night huddled by a fire not exactly a good one. But this was something she needed to do, and she intended on doing it.
As she walked through out of the town, an idea came to her mind. Pulling out the fire tomb that she had purchased before she had left, she opened it and began to focus. If she was able to create a fireball and hold it in her hand, that should help warm her up a little bit. Not that she expected it to work on her first try, nor did she expect to be able to conjure it for long, but it would be great practice. Hopefully, over time, she would be able to create and keep a fireball up like it was nothing. She started to focus, remembering her education and limited magically training at home. She stopped walking at this point, but she was too focused to realize. After several rather frustrating minutes of not being able to do much more than conjure one, only for it to disappear, she finally willed a fireball into existence for more than a few seconds. She kept her will focused on it, refusing to let it go. She could feel energy draining from her body as it fueled her magic. Before long, she couldn't keep it going any longer and it went out. It was a start. Before today, she had only ever been able to simply conjure and throw a fireball, and even then it wouldn't go too far before it went out. And sure, she hadn't been able to hold it as long as she had liked. But it was a start.

(OoC: Oh my goodness we are all so adorable)
They passed by a travelling mage on their way out. Hmm, how odd. Usually Liv is all over people like that, I guess she was too excited about the trip to notice her. She waved at the mage in a friendly manner as they left, smiling. "Good day. Come on Liv." She said preemptively, expecting her sister to want to stall the trip to talk with the mage. If there was one thing that he sister was, it was excitable.
Somewhere warm, huh? Levity would be wearing the same clothes regardless, with how cold the upper air could get. She imagined her little sister in something a bit more girly than the bulky clothes she wore often. It would probably be a nice change of pace, and even Levity could wear casual clothing when she wasn't on the job. "How about we go somewhere with water? You've never been swimming before, have you? It's a lot of fun, mother took me once before you were born." She smiled as she thought back on her memories of those days. Her parents did bring her on trips more often before Liv was born, didn't they? Not that she was upset about her sister's existence, but she wanted to be able to giver Liv what her mother was now unable to. "We could travel all the way down to Lycia and live in a lake town, or perhaps we'll actually find one on the way there."

Liv was busy playing with her new stick sword given to her by her lackeys back in town. She was swinging it around in the air, but the action felt odd. She never did like to play as a swordmaster. It had been years since she had solidified the idea that she had no plans to physically fight. A part of her sort of regretted it, but she never really like the idea weapons. It all seemed sort of direct. It wasn't until she threw it up in the air behind her and went to pick it up did she notice the woman. She did a magic thing!
The actual names for spells and process were just minor details in her mind. What was important was when the fire actually came out. She let out a little gasp, barely paying attention to what her bigger sister was saying. Magic had always been so pretty to watch, so she couldn't help, but get distracted by it. Did her sister say something about swimming? Before her mind could process, she was already running towards the person with the magic powers.
"That was so cool!" she called out in excitement. She ran over, her breath leading a small trail from behind. She was a little bundle of excitement and energy. Her former teacher had said that she could be effective if not for her constant distractions. As soon as she got close to arms reach, she jumped, trying to fly through the air to give a tackle hug.

Samantha smiled and nodded as the pair of girls walked by and one greeted her with a good day. It was always nice to encounter friendly people. They looked as though they could be sisters. She had never minded being an only child, but every once and a while had wondered what it would have been like to grow up with a sibling. She didn't have a problem with being alone, but maybe her feelings on that would have been different if she had a brother or a sister. Oh well. No use worrying over things that could never come to pass.
She decided to try a fireball one last time. Closing her eyes, she focused on her extended right hand. Repeating the incantation for the fireball in her head, she channeled her energy towards her hand. A smile grew on her face as she felt a sudden warmth in her hand and she opened her eyes to reveal a fireball there. Once again, however, she could feel the drain on her energy the longer she held the fireball in place and before long it dissipated. Still slightly disappoint, but at the same time hopeful, she tucked her fire tome back into her bag.
As she was doing that, she heard a voice yelling about something being cool. This confused her for a second because this was Ilia, of course it was cold. When she looked up and saw the young girl from earlier running towards her, she realized that the girl must have seen her conjure the fireball. She was slightly taken aback, as she couldn't remember anyone calling something she had done 'cool' before. Before she had time to really register this and think of something to say back, the girl had jumped at her. Her eyes widened as the girl wrapped her arms around Samantha, something she absolutely was not ready for. Before she could stabilize herself, the force of the girl sent her falling backwards into some snow along the side of the road.

Levity sighed. What she really needed was a good collar and leash right now, something to ensure that Liv stayed in an arm's reach of her. She directed Lily to keep walking ahead while she turned back to the gates to capture the little squirrel. The magic was impressive, yes. A constant reminder that mages were not supposed to be burning whole doors off of their hinges. However, if she allowed Liv to talk to the mage, then they wouldn't be able to leave the town until nightfall.
She grabbed the clingy Liv by the collar of her clothes and pulled her off of the traveller. "Liv, don't bother her, we need to get going. I'm sure we'll see plenty of mages on our journey, there's no need to ask every single one of them for autographs." Liv dealing with mages was like a cat going after cat nip. As soon as she saw one, she wanted to rub her face all over them. "We need to leave now and cover as much ground as we can, or else we're never going to leave."
She turned to the startled mage, sorry for having to have a traveler see that. "Sorry for the trouble, traveler, she's a mage-in-training, and loves to see others practice magic. You don't want her around you though, she's more likely to talk your ear off than anything else." She waved at the mage once again as she began to drag Liv off. "Sorry again, we'll be on our way now, right Liv?" She tugged at the little sister's arm to get her to apologize too.

"Oh that was so amazing, you gotta teach me! You just gotta!" Liv begged with as much vigor and excitement as she could. Unconsciously she had begun using her secret technique, honed by years of practice and cuteness. The first step was eye contact, so she stared into the mage's eyes, her own sparkling with expectation and need. She would totally benefit from having someone help her along. She hadn't been able to do more than crackle a few sparks on purpose. The only time when she ever got a real fireball going was whenever she burned something. By this point she was clinging onto the woman's clothes for her dear life as she knew exactly what to expect next, at least unconsciously. Levity was soon on her heels to get them back on track.
"But what if she becomes a famous sage! I bet she is super awesome already," she declared rather eagerly, her hands balled up into the clothing. She looked to her sister as she spoke and back at the other woman, thinking up of an idea. She didn't want to leave the mage's side. It was clingy nature that was desperately looking for more companionship. When it came down to it, she was very sensitive to being alone. She wouldn't be identify the source of her fear, but it was the reason she tried to be as friendly as possible.
"Aww, can't she just come with us? It's safer to go with more people right? Please," she pleaded, finally being pried from the woman's hold. Her eyes were tearing at this point, as she began to be dragged on track. She waved her arms desperately trying to reach the mage.

It took Samantha a few seconds to realize what was going on. The young girl was on top of her, begging her to teach her how she had done her little fireball trick. At least, that's what she thought the girl was asking. She had more energy than anyone she had ever met, so it was slightly hard at times for her to understand exactly what the girl meant. The girl was certainly cute and seemed so earnest about learning magic. Plus, with Samantha's calm and patient demeanor, many people had said that she might make a good teacher someday. And while she would have no problem teaching this young girl, she feared that she didn't know enough about magic herself to be an effective teacher.
Before she had time to process all this, the girl had been pried off of her by her sister. She slowly got to her feet and brushed the snow off of herself. The elder sister apologized for the younger's actions, even as the younger one, Liv she seemed to be called, frantically tried to persuade her to reach back out for her. Samantha opened her mouth to respond, her voice soft and calm as she did. "It is fine, she did no harm. I fear, young one, that I know not enough of magic myself to be a good teacher. But, as it seems we are traveling the same way, I see no harm in journeying with you for a time." She looked up at her older sister. "That is, of course, if I were not to be intruding on anything."

Levity let go of Liv for the moment, just to make sure she didn't try wriggling out of her clothes. "Liv, if the woman were a famous sage, why would she bother travelling to a backwater town and practice fire spells at the gate like a performer?" Levity was fine with the woman travelling with them, any extra person lessened the chance of her being hit by a stray spell. She also felt more relaxed, knowing she could count on aid in the case of bandits or highwaymen attacking them. There was only so much she could do on foot she was much better at fighting in the air, and with her Pegasus weighed down by supplies, it could take valuable time to get her prepped in the case of a surprise attack.
The woman seemed to be alright with the two of them, so Levity gave her a short bow. "I am Levity Serano, and this is my sister Liv, we were just about to leave on a journey to find a new home. I suppose you're welcome to join us if you like, just be careful around my sister. She tends to set things on fire when she's excited." Hopefully the woman would be skilled enough to at least tell Liv how to control herself, because the heavens sure knew that Levity had tried multiple times and failed at it. "I don't think you'll be intruding on anything, we already spend pretty much all of the time together, so having someone else to talk to is a blessing."

Liv was so happy that Levity was willing to go along with the traveling idea as long as the mage was willing to as well. This made the whole travel a lot more appealing, especially when she can now bother chat with someone about magic. If she had a tale, she would be practically wagging it at the moment. When the woman actually accepted, she practically jumped at her again, but decided for a more mature approach to the matter.
"Nice to meet you too," she grinned, naturally finding herself getting attached to the woman. She looked at the woman eye to eye with as much wonder as a little girl could towards a living idol. Any mage is better than her, she also had a rather low bar when it comes to who she is willing to learn magic from.
"It's okay miss, you can do a lot more with magic than I can. I mean all I'm able to do is make sparks, sometimes, if I work really hard," she admitted with absolutely no shame. If anyone asks, she wasn't ashamed to tell them the truth.
"I promise to work super hard and listen to your lessons," she begged, giving her the begging eyes. At this point she had already grabbed the woman's clothes and clung to her like she was literally tied to her with rope. As she began to get more and more excited, the air about her seem to buzz. One thing she had in excess was energy, if she had the proper concentration then fire magic would be much more easy to use.

Samantha couldn't help but smile. This girl was very cute and full of energy, to the point where it seemed even the air around her was feeding off her energy. She turned back to the older sister, Levity, for a moment. She returned the girl's bow before speaking. "It's my pleasure to meet the both of you. My name is Samantha." She smiled at the pair of them before turning her attention fully back to Liv. The girl had actually taken to clinging to her cloak as if making sure that she wouldn't run off. She was slightly nervous at the prospect of teaching someone so soon, but as it was something she may like to do eventually, practicing it couldn't hurt.
"Being able to make sparks is a very good start," she said to Liv, remembering from her own time at school that being positive towards people's strength improved their confidence and therefore allowed for them to feel better when moving onto stronger magic. "We can start your first lesson when we stop for the night. That way we have some time to focus in a calm environment." It was like studying. Sure, they could try it while on the road, but it was always easier to do in a relaxed, controlled environment. The less you had to worry about, the easier it was to focus your mind on magic. She turned back to Levity. "If you don't mind me asking, where are you two headed? You said to find a new home, but any place in particular?"

Levity breathed a sigh of relief. Her sister was satisfied, but she felt a little bad for the fresh blood, Samantha. She wasn't going to have long hair very long around Liv. Still, Levity was glad for the company a bit closer to her age, she hoped to get Samantha apart from Liv at some point and learn her story. She felt safe at least, her pegasus knight training was very explicit in how to resist high temperatures, so mages practicing wouldn't be much of an issue to her. The bigger issue, as Samantha asked her, was where to go to.
"Well, I've thought about this for a while." Levity started, looking at Liv. "I think the best idea is to start off by just taking a world tour, journey to all of the countries and find a place to stay in. Though, maybe not Etruria at the moment, I've heard nothing but bad rumors coming out of it." It would probably disappoint Liv to know that the one-great mage capitol had lost sight of everything but their religion, or at least, that was how her old mercenary captains had put it. She'd been in Etruria on jobs plenty of times back before it got weird, but places change, and you can't always help that.
"First we go to Sacae, then cross over to Bern and into Lycia, so that we can avoid Ostia. Then we might catch a boat to the Western Isles, if we're feeling particularly adventurous."
