"Foolish little girl form sacae", shouted Nega Burt as Mana's attack rushed him. Her aggression and vigor toward the fight did nothing but feel Burt's will to fight witch in turn snared him even more under the Arum's control. As the Lighting bolt lunched forward Nega Burt raised his sword into the air. The move gathered the darkness around his blade and with a quick strike he dispelled the thunder with the power of the darkness. Elder Magic was stronger than the forces of nature and it proved itself this day. The first shot was dispelled and the second simply shattered on the power of Nega Burt's sword. The Arum Knight was not going to let his prey escape. It was almost time for the kill.
With inhuman strength Nega Burt leaped from his position covering half the gap between him and the maiden swordsmen. Calling upon his blades dark power Nega Burt enchanted his sword with a aura of darkness and began to give chase. Blood flowed through Nega Burt's veins as the thrill of the hunt strengthen his control over the man that lied underneath. "Burt is no longer here to save you", shouted Nega Burt to Mana as he gave changes. The Arum then detoured off the path and moved onto another pathway heading up into the mountain. For a moment it looked as if he had given up chase, but the truth of the matter was that Nega Burt was flanking her. After reaching a higher altitude Nega Burt increased his speed and surpassed the maiden. Then he simply jumped down from the side of the slope and slid down in front of the female swordsmen.
"Its time to die", spoke Nega Burt as he placed both hands on his demonic sword. The truth of the matter was that Nega Burt wanted the chase to go on for much longer. He was not ready to finish off his prey yet, but he needed to make it seem like he was. Nega Burt could not allow her to get to the plains. He would loss his advantage there. Plus other swordsmen might join in and make the fight very difficult. Instead he plan to lure her back into the mountains. The first step was to cut off her path and send her running back where she came from. Of course that was assuming she survived his assault. Nega Burt was not going to hold back.
Drawing upon the dark powers of his sword Nega Burt swung the blade directly down almost as if he was chopping wood. The sword bit into the ground and sent a wave of black tendrils whipping about trying to rip the maiden to pieces. If she wanted to turn this into a battle of magic Nega Burt would oblige her.

Something was - wrong here. Definitely. Nayru didn't have the wisdom and experience with the events of old that some dragons might, but it didn't take a genius, or really even any special powers, to smell the stench of something rotten in the world day. Something... old, but familiar, in a strange way that didn't make sense at all. It definitely wasn't a dragon. While it was sort of familiar to when she had run into Marcus, and to a degree Aerious as well, their scents and the surround events had been, in retrospect, familiar - she hadn't realized it beforehand but once the pieces all came together, it made total sense.
Whatever was going on here was... well, it definitely wasn't a dragon aspected to the Storm, anyways, and it didn't really feel elemental at all. If anything it reminded her a bit of dark magic, which was probably not a good sign because dragons were by and large not really familiar with dark magic having ever been anything other than the magic of douchebags and madmen, usually both at once. There was also the scent of blood, which was REALLY extra special not good. That one was less 'magic dragon powers' and more 'even in human form dragons have an extremely well developed sense of smell,' which was pretty lame as superpowers went, but good for smelling blood. Apparently.
...Man even in the confines of her own head, that sounded really lame.
Honestly though, all poor attempts at humor and self-distraction aside, she was starting to get worried. Dark magic(?), lots of blood, and no obvious source was not really a great series of events. Seriously - this would be an awesome time to have magic teleporting powers, or scrying, or actually know what she was looking for, or even a canine companion to use his animal senses to guide her. She'd call him Dogmeat, and they'd be friends forever and ever...
A somewhat confused expression passed her face as she looked around a bit, pausing hesitantly before sniffing again in an attempt to ascertain what was actually going on. While she had no special understanding or attunement to Dark magic, or even most Anima, it would be entirely fair to say that Nayru did have a certain affinity for Thunder-elemental magic, an uncannily strong one in fact, and there was little question that an even more familiar scent was starting to waft in under the cover of the others. She couldn't tell its source or intensity exactly, certainly nothing as strong as Aerious's overpowering aura, but that thought quickly led into another, much darker one - what if it WAS one of her kin, a weaker one?
Nayru decided she didn't like that train of thought at all, but it refused to die - was it possible that a weak Thunder dragon was here, possibly fighting for their lives, against whatever the hell was actually going on here? She hadn't... really planned on getting involved, and perhaps in other timelines, other worlds - if Nax's stories were true - the her that existed within them would simply have walked past and left things be - but after all the strange coincidences and surprise dragon meetings lately, the Nayru of this world decided after only another imperceptible flicker of hesitation to check it out.
Following the trail was easy - after an awkward start trying to figure out where the scent itself was actually coming from, electricity or no she wasn't a god damn golden retriever, the trail of destruction and crashing sounds in the nearish distance ensured than even a blind man could have happened by the clash without much issue.
Whether that was for the better or the worse was... questionable. Nayru didn't know jack squat about the Arum or their abilities, but she could feel the sense of wrongness rolling off him in waves, a veritable tsunami of sin and shadow. Facing him was a human(?0 girl, probably the wielder of lightning she had sensed earlier, though without seeing them fight or a close-up inspection she didn't really have any way of discerning if it was simply a human or a dragon, like her, masquerading as a warrior.
Didn't really seem like she had a lot of time to think about it, though, as the dark warrior used... well, she wasn't really sure what the hell he used, actually, Nayru could only assume it was some sort of magic weapon because normal people didn't shoot giant waves of evil mojo at people from their swords. Point was, he was attacking the human warrior girl, which was bad, and she wasn't really sure what the swordswoman was capable of. On the flip side, Nayru WAS pretty sure of what she was capable of physically, and she was going to have to friggin' book it to get anywhere in the vicinity of helping out before Miss Fortune got eaten by a bunch of black goop.
Last chance to back out, her brain helpfully supplied, but by that point Nayru was already in a dead run towards the dueling duo as she tried to come up with anything resembling an actual plan. She could that that breath idea... no, that plan had died when she had decided to move in reflexively. Theoretically she could do it, she had tried it very small-scale with no real projection and hadn't killed herself beyond a pretty sore throat, but there was no way she could amp up the volume of projection, while running, without having ever tried it before - she'd only really be able to safely try that at a standstill with a way to brace herself. Facetanking the tendrils didn't sound particularly fun either, she was durable, but not really THAT durable against magic, and even if she was, Nayru was acutely aware of her very limited 'invulnerability' and its easiest counters - multiple simultaneous attacks.
So... counterattack? As she neared the girl, Nayru realized she still didn't have all that great of a plan, much less any idea of how to take tall dark and ugly on, so she was just gonna have to wing it. Her hands dropped to her side, resting momentarily on the hilts of her dual kama as she tried to envision how this would hopefully go - and hope that she could actually pull it off right - well, here went nothing. Great line to put on her tombstone. 'Here lies Nayru, great of spirit, small of brain. Cause of death: suicide by stupidity."
Nayru skidded sideways to a halt in front of Mana, interposing herself between the injured girl - she hadn't noticed that originally - and the wave of coming darkness. Heh. Sounded like a euphemism or something. Well, she had wanted to take up monster hunting after all... though this might not be the time for jokes. Focusing on her coming job and her building power, she only managed a few short words for Mana. "Duck and cover!" And then the darkness was upon them both and she was about to find out if this idea worked or not.
A tiny spark of electricity running down one of her kama was the first hint that anything was amiss, the metaphorical calm before the storm, and then both weapons came forwards in blinding golden arcs, crackling lightning bursting outwards from each that crashed into the inky tendrils with... slightly less than overwhelming force, she had kinda envisioned cutting through the entire forest of tentacles in one attack, but to be fair she was still pretty new to emulating human magical weapons having only recently discovered she could even do that. At least it was enough to carve a path through the strange man's attack, or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that her own assault parted his well enough to spare them.
At least for the time being.
"Please tell me you're the good guys and I didn't just accidentally save the Empress of Evil or whatever." Without much other idea of how to move the scene forwards, Nayru defaulted to terrible jokes, inclining her head sort of towards Mana to make it obvious who she was addressing. That had worked out surprisingly well, all things considered, but tall dark and derpy over there apparently had some serious ranged firepower, and honestly, she couldn't match it. Not in human form, anyways, not without a full-power breath attack, and transforming here would be... counterproductive at best.

Mana doubted Nega Burt had given up the chase. However, she couldn't see him anywhere. Was he even still pursuing her? The last time she had lost sight of him ended with another ambush so Mana wouldn't even consider lowering her guard this time. The monster wasn't just strong, he was a cunning and wicked creature, embodiment of madness and bloodlust. Those lightning blots she had shot toward him wouldn't help much, it probably didn't even faze him. Mana had no knowledge about the the nature of Elder magic being stronger than Anima, but she could tell that her magic attack was inferior to the evil creature's dark force. She was okay with that. The lightning was only supposed to delay Burt and possibly hurt him a bit, the Sacaen swordswoman didn't have much hope on those magic attack she had very little experience with.
Mana was too focused with watching her back because she believed Burt was still somewhere behind her trail, this strategy turned against her when he somehow appeared in front of her and blocked the path. The girl believed in her speed could give her some distance from the raging Arum Knight so she barely paid attention to the front. Not sure why...but when Burt said "it's time to die", Mana felt like her death really coming. Maybe it was his monstrous voice that made the phrase sounded scarier than it originally supposed to be.
"There still time to stop and..." The sword maiden failed to finish the train of thought. She felt her body suddenly bending too far to the back and her left foot overextended. With her current pace and running on the rocky ground, she shouldn't have braked so suddenly. Her feet slipped when she stepped on a unstable small rock, making her lose balance and fall to the ground. Realizing that dodging was already impossible, Mana wrapped her body around the baby to shield him from the nether force. Her eyes closed and her teeth clenched, Mana hardened her resolve, knowing her possible death was approaching.
"Duck and cover!!"
Mana didn't recognize the voice or the figure who suddenly appeared in front of her, between her and the dark wave, but she followed instinctively. And then miracle happened. Or made...by the savior. It was a woman, a woman who had strange aura surrounding her. Mana watched when the woman made a slight move and created another force to counter Burt's attack. The wave clashed with some kind of...lightning force? Whatever it was, the woman's attack had split the dark tendrils and sent them away from them.
Mana didn't understand what Nayru said, about empress or whatever, and she didn't care. In her eyes, this newcomer had saved her although the reason behind such noble action was unclear. Mana wasn't very bright and she always had simple mind, saving the baby was the only thing she could think of right now. She looked at Nayru. This woman had helped her so she must be an ally....a friend!!! The Sacaen got up and stood next to Nayru. "Listen! That guy is some kind of demon, monster, whatever...I don't really know. But one thing for sure, he is a dangerous murderer so..." Mana paused, gesturing at the baby in her arms. "Please...Take this boy and run. I will try to hold him here," she pleaded. Mana herself was in great danger and her condition was far from ideal for battle but she only concerned for the baby.

It was finally time. Time to savor the kill and absorb the maiden's life energy. As a plus the Arum would gain the young child without Burt interfering. If he killed the little one while killing Mana Burt would not realize and the energy could be absorbed as one great lump sum. However that plan went up in flames as a mysterious figure suddenly appeared and tanked Nega Burt's attack. It was like the legends of old. The hero shows up at the last minute and saves the day right before evil wins.
"Who are you", shouted Nega Burt angerly. His rage was barely kept as his voice boomed with the fury of thunder. "Who dares to deny my kill!" True be told Nega Burt could care less who this newcomer was. All he wanted her to do was to get out of his way and let him consume the maiden, but alas that was probably not going to be a option. You don't step in front of one of Nega Burt's attacks just to slink away later. No she was serious and from the look of her she must have been a powerful mage. Especially so since she used the power of Anima to dispel his darkness. Elder Magic had a constant advantage over the forces of nature, but in this situation that advantage did not seem to matter. It was a clear indication of the power scaling of Nega Burt's opponent. Her energy would please the Arum, but Nega Burt was not sure if he had the power to take it. Though he had no problem's with trying to find out.
Suddenly and with little warning Nega Burt dashed forward and slashed at the new arrival with his vial blade. The sword was brought down with a axe sweeping motion. Nega Burt was hoping to slash the maiden into two with his attack. However Nega Burt was not so foolish to attack a lightning mage with a simple metal blade. As he brought his weapon down for the kill Nega Burt surrounded his weapon with dark energy preventing lighting from traveling up the blade and killing him.

Well that was just peachy.
On the bright side, the sword chick was probably too derpy to be evil. On the down side - Nayru still had no idea what the crazy evil guy was, was apparently stuck consoling an insane woman, and was now being asked to be a babysitter. If Lynessa could see her now - actually, no, perish that thought, she did NOT want to know what kind of horrible terrifying things Lyn would say about children of her own. God DAMMIT why weren't there any normal dragons? They were all friggin' crazy! It was no wonder the Scouring happened, honestly, as a race they were all apparently clinically insane.
"You're lying there in a puddle of your own blood and you want ME to carry the kid." Nayru almost forgot to be sarcastic, though the raised eyebrow as she turned a bit more to face Mana, and the deadpan flatness of her tone, suggested it well enough even without her conscious thought. She couldn't tell if the human chick - she was definitely no dragon - was actually completely bonkers or just REALLY stubborn, but neither really boded well for any of her plans. "Let me take care of this guy, you go find a healer and get yourself patched up. Monster hunting is what I do."
-And tall dark and douchbaggy was yelling. Huh. So he was human, ish, probably, honestly Nayru still had no idea what the hell to make of him but he was REALLY loud and... honestly kind of silly, like he was so mad he forgot how to talk to people, but she could sense that his power was nothing to make light of. As ever, her actual combat experience was a little light, though it had definitely solidified through the harsh fights of the last few months, but primal instincts were a powerful tool, one she relied on often, and his wave attack had been powerful enough - who knew what else he was capable of?
"Name's Nayru," she responded casually, turning back fully to Burt - not that she had ignored him in the meantime. Turning your back to someone that crazy and that strong would be suicide. "...Just passing through." Again, casual, but there was a hint of an edge to her words that hinted at the truth, that Nayru realized the threat to some degree even if she couldn't entirely articulate it. At least with Baels and gargoyles she knew what to expect, but this strange man seemed to have a great degree of versatility going by the fact that he had both ranged energy attacks and was apparently a good enough swordsman to bloody the sorta Sacaen-ish looking chick... though it might just be that Mana was a terrible fighter, she really had no idea. Still, better to expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised if things went better!
Unfortunately, it didn't seem that the evil shadow guy was very good at talking to girls. Rather than affably carry on casual conversation as she'd kinda been hoping he would, he went full ham, charging her faster than she would have expected with an arcing overhead strike that, honestly, she didn't really have the option to dodge, not with the injured girl and that brat behind her. Man, this was why she didn't like spending time around people, something always went wrong. ...Man this would be a REALLY awesome time to be able to do humanform breath attack, just waste this guy while he charged in a nice straight line... god dammit she seriously needed to figure that out.
More annoyed by her lack of supreme cosmic power than the impending prospect of a life or death power versus a powerful warrior possessed by an ancient shade, Nayru didn't bother doing anything too fancy to counter Burt's assault, spinning both kama for a second before stepping forwards twice, quickly, intercepting his attack and bringing them both up in a cross to block his strike - and GOD DAMN was she glad that he did, the dude hit like a god damn wagon full of dragons. She almost had to check if he was swinging a sword, or a castle.
Well... if she ever needed a reminder that dragon strength wasn't an automatic fix-all to all of life's woes, this was certainly it. Burt had the advantage of momentum and surprise, so while his strike didn't break her block, it was certainly enough to blunt any immediate counterattack she could have launched, leaving him and Mana free to make the next move.

It needed a Nayru to remind Mana about her condition. The adrenaline had been preventing the burning pain to overwhelm her sense but it wouldn't heal her. And worse, the extreme movements from the dodging and running, and also the fall after her slip, had made her wound worsened. The healing from earlier was undone as if it was useless. When Mana looked back, she could see the blood trail in the path behind her. Having reminded about her own condition, Mana couldn't hide the fear in her expression.
Mana looked up. The woman had really meant it when she had promised to take care of Burt. The strange woman, who introduced herself as Nayru, took out a pair of strange weapon Mana had never seen. Those objects in the dragon lady's hands looked like scythes although they seemed to have a function as weapon rather than as a tool for farming. After seemingly considering her options, which really took a long time that Burt himself might feel bored watching her thinking and imagining things, Nayru finally moved to intercept Burt's violent charge with a hard block from the front. Mana couldn't take her gaze off them when both fighters fought, locking their weapons into a ferocious clash. What surprised the sword maiden was Nayru. Burt was undoubtedly strong, his cursed body possessed monstrous strength that might beat Wyatt or the other strong warriors. Compared to him, Nayru looked sexy slender and weaker but somehow she managed to stand strong against his strength. Did she superwoman or something? Or was it magic? Mana was dazzled.
For the first time since the hunt had begun, Burt had another prey. His attention would be divided between the two women. Moreover, Nayru had probably given strong impression by bravely blocking his attack. Mana's eyes lit with fighting spirit once again when she realized the chance for counterattack. She rushed forward in the moment when the Arum Knight had his attention on Nayru. Carefully bringing up her thunder sword, the Sacaen girl moved and ducked behind the other woman. Mana used Nayru's body to escape Burt's sight for a second. She then sidestepped to the right and pointed her sword toward the demon. "Eat this!!" she roared as she shot a lightning bolt from the tip of her magic sword.

The hell, thought Nega Burt as his blade clashed with the maiden's ... thingys. No mortal should have been able to block his blade and yet this woman was holding him back. Nega Burt tried to press the blade forward and throw the woman off balance, but to no avail. Her foot work was perfect and her strength impressive. There was no way Nega Burt was going to topple her like he did so many others. At this point however the fight became dangerous. If she could match his strength with those little weapons then that mean she was either stronger than him or equal. That was not good. With those small blades she could easily out speed him and rip him to shreds. Nega Burt was going to have to change tactics. A straight on assault was not going to work on her. He was going to have to try and get a angle or use the wounded woman as bait to get her in a vulnerable position. Either way... wait. Where was the women?
Suddenly Mana appeared back in Nega Burt's view and from the tip of her sword came a bolt of fearsome lightning. On instincts alone Nega Burt jumped back to retreat, but lighting was far faster than he was. In mid jump he was hit by the blow. The bolt of lighting rippled through his body and tore threw his flesh. A scream of agony and pain filled the air as Nega Burt fell to the ground. It hurt, and bad. Burt was never resistant to magic and even though the arum had a affinity for darkness Burt's body did not. The Arum stabbed his sword into the ground as he attempted to recover from the attack. He was a few feet back away from the duo thanks to his jump, but he knew that would not keep them from charging forward in there attempt to finish him off. This was the second time that Mana had wounded him. She was the only person to ever wound him and the very though of it sent Nega Burt into a rage.
"YOU PIECE OF $%@*", shouted Nega Burt as he let out a loud roar. From his body came the power of Luna. The fearsome spell followed the sound of his voice and in his mighty roar Nega Burt attacked the souls of those around him. That included the young child. As Nega Burt howled the baby began to cry. Its very soul was damaged by the magic and with no defense it began to fade quickly. A loud scream of pain turned into a low whimper as the fiend finished his roar. Nega Burt was now angry.

While she would... probably... totally have been fine on her own, Nayru wasn't entirely disappointed when Mana jumped in and blew Burt away with lightning - which was actually really ironic when she thought about it, a lightning dragon saved by electricity not her own - like something you'd see in a really cliched book, but a hipster sort of retro cliche, doing it before it was actually cliche and so kind of original.
...It was kinda hard on her ego to be more or less saved by someone else using lightning magic though. So much for being the big damn hero, or the master of magnetism. Or electricity in general. There weren't actually any really cool magnetic powers that came with being a storm dragon, unfortunately, outside of a hate/hate relationship with doorknobs. Burt, for his part, didn't seem much more enthusiastic about it than she was; something they could empathize with each other about at least! Except for the part where he was some horrible murder monster, and she was... also a horrible murder monster, but a reformed one... yeah she was just gonna stop thinking about that.
At first she thought the Arum Knight's hoarse yell was just a shout of frustration, but the bonechilling cold that followed it quickly disabused her of the notion. With no experience whatsoever fighting dark magic, Nayru had no frame of reference to recognize Luna or understand the nature of the ethereal assault, but it felt strange, alien - as if her very lifeblood had turned to ice. It was altogether disconcerting, but the sickening familiarity, almost fondness itself became a weapon of its own.
Her hackles raised, Nayru reverted to her baser instincts - fight or flight - and no self-respecting dragon would ever pick the second if they could avoid it. Even with a body temporarily paralyzed by whatever vile sorcery Burt was usng, she still had her power, and she could feel her knuckles tense as it flooded into her, a golden river of molten fire that drove the cold before it. Where the unnatural chill of Luna had frozen her blood solid, her power consumed it instead, an almost uncomfortable warmth that radiated beyond the confines of her shell in subtle golden hues - though the streaks of lightning running across her body were much, much less subtle.
"f**k YOU TOO" was Nayru's choice response to Burt's comment, and without further ado she charged him at a dead run, her speed decidedly higher than it had been a moment before. Whether out of respect or insolence, her attack was no more complex than Burt's own charge had been a minute before, though with the added benefit of uncertainty in exactly how she would attack; two kama, only one sword.
Which was why, as soon as she brought the first one in to attack in a horizontal swing, she just tried to knee him in the groin instead. Bet you weren't expecting THAT you sword-swinging jackass!

This was the second time Mana got hit by Burt's dark magic. The memory of their battle in the City of Heroes was still fresh in her mind, the pain and suffering caused by from his mysterious magic hadn't been forgotten. In that battle she had been able to withstand it somehow, but this time the nether energy managed to overcome her. Sacaen girl fell to her knees, feeling so weak suddenly. It was like the strength leave her body...no, it might be more accurate to say that her soul was disconnected, torn apart, from her body for a short moment. Whatever it actually might be, the magic was certainly in different plane from the natural elements of Anima magic. It brought strange cold feeling into her veins and messed with her senses.
Mana grimaced when she realized that the monster wasn't only attacking her and Nayru with the foul magic. The baby's cry woke Mana, who was in verge of losing her consciousness. She looked at him and realized that he was suffering. His vitals grew weaker with every second passed. Thankfully, Nayru had gone to engage Nega Burt in frontal assault, and he would likely be busy fending the thunder woman's attack, so Mana didn't need to worry about getting attacked for the moment. Getting up slowly, she fought against her own injuries and damaged soul as she brought the baby far away from the fighting. Stay too close and he might be the victim of another burst of magic, Mana didn't want that to happen. The swordswoman was exhausted and almost broken but she prioritized the baby's safety over hers.
"Please...Stay with me..." Mana spoke softly as she laid the baby on soft ground, putting her finger on the small hand to feel the pulse. She could tell that the baby's body was getting colder and weaker. What should she do? Even a healer might not know how to deal with this...kind of damage. A shaman, or even a Elimine priest, should be able to help but they were in the middle of a forest now, far away from any settlements. "Falcatta...the spirits...Father Sky and Mother Earth...please save this little guy..." Mana prayed, and begged, for help. She laid Falcatta, still in its sheath, next to the crying baby. The sword itself didn't possess healing ability but the spirits within it might be able to undo any damage to the soul, or at least mend it.
The black-haired girl looked behind, still clutching her chest, she didn't like letting Nayru fight the Arum Knight alone. However she felt ease knowing that the dragoness was a skilled fighter, probably even stronger than Mana herself.

"Ghaa", screamed Nega Burt as the knee found its place where no attack should. The Arum had predicted and defended against the first attack, but the swift knee to the scrotum was unexpected. The foul abomination stepped back to regain some ground. Nega Burt was still standing, but the pain. It was not something one could simply walk off. Nega Burt had no idea who this women was, but he was starting to hate her more than he did the other wench. Still the situation was looking grim. Whoever she was she was powerful. Taking her head on was a mistake. "Foul #$%^", shouted the Arum as Nega Burt leaped into the air. Rather than attack the maiden he instead jumped onto the path leading up to the mountain above to retreat.
Nega Burt was not giving up on the fight, but rather giving ground. He was going to need to get some space between him the maiden and his true target. At the moment he was at a disadvantage. The thunder lady had his number in that terrain. If Nega Burt was going to win this fight he was going to have to use his head. If she followed Nega Burt wold simply lead her into the mountains and then turn around. He could easily hunt down the bleeding women and the child and finish them off. If she stayed back to defend Nega Burt would simply recover and ambush them later down the path in more advantageous terrain.
Not stopping for a moment Nega Burt jumped up and grabbed onto another ledge and pulled himself higher up into the mountain. He looked down to see where the thunder lady was. Did she follow or did she stay behind. Either of the two options were advantageous for him. He could use both of them to his advantage.

"OH COME ON!" Nayru shouted after the fleeing clown with frustration she didn't even think to attempt to hide. "THAT WASN'T EVEN A FRIGGIN' FLESH WOUND!" She stomped the ground in aimless frustration, thoroughly disappointed that her prospects of a challenging and interesting fight had just been dashed so completely by the strange magic user's blatant cowardice. N-not that she was a battle maniac or anything, haha that was just crazy, but she didn't think there was anything morally or ethically wrong about having looked forwards to enjoying the fight!
Blah. Oh well. Waving dismissively in the direction the overgrown baby had run off in, Nayru turned around and trekked back to Mana and the little shi-innocent child. This was probably all his fault anyways, crying like a little... er, right, pretending to be a good person, probably should hold off on eating babies for now. They probably tasted terrible anyways. Too bad she didn't have any healing abilities or bullshit dragon magic that could resurrect the dead or restore souls or change diapers or whatever the horrible little crotch dropping's problem was.
The Sacaen-looking chick seemed pretty distraught about it though, so Nayru kept her thoughts to herself and resigned herself to dealing with whatever her problem was. "Hey uh, you doin' alright? What the hell is going on here anyways?" It was a little blunt and to the point, but there was just enough genuine caring in her words to not come across as entirely uncaring. It was just hard, her blood was still pumping and Nayru had never been big on babies in the first place. Didn't mean she wanted them to all die, she was just happy to leave taking care of them to... anyone else.

...No answer, huh?
Nayru wasn't a perfect expert on dark magic, but it seemed like that strange wave of spirit-suppressing magic the dark warrior had used had taken more out of the Sacaen girl than it had her, at least going by Mana's seeming zoning out after her obvious discomfort of a moment before. Delayed shock or something? The dragon frowned, lines of stress barely evident on her face; she didn't like not understanding the phenomenon facing her now, and she REALLY didn't like the idea of magic that could leave people catatonic. That was definitely new to her, which wasn't that surprising given that she wasn't an expert on dark magic in general, but truth be told she had a feeling that this wasn't exactly human magic. Oh, there might well be an analogue, certainly there were always rumors of Dark magic having the ability to steal or devour men's souls, but what the black-hearted creature had done was far too... instinctive for dark magic.
And perhaps more importantly, he had done it all while possessing tremendous strength and skill with a blade. Humans, not blessed with the natural abilities of dragons, generally had to focus on mind or body; to be able to master both so instinctively was... not theoretically impossible, but difficult at the very least. Not that dragons were all that different to be fair, warrior and mage 'castes' and all that, but in the end they could all throw a punch and still do elemental voodoo. For this strange dark warrior to be able to do so suggested one of two things; one, he was a dark dragon - which didn't exist... as far as she knew - or two, someone or something was possessing a human - which was also impossible, because the only force she knew of that MIGHT be able to do that were the subject of legends long dead.
So, all in all, not really a great set of choices, since both of them had some pretty dark implications.
All that said, Nayru was a little surprised to realize that despite the situation and her own minor irritability, likely as a result of that strange magic, she wasn't actually that off-put by it. If anything, she was kind of excited. It was a rare sort of moment in which both her budding warrior side and her more intellectual mind coincided without any real conflict of interest. She wanted to know more about this strange creature, to find out where he was from, what he was capable of, how he had come here, and if there were more...
...And she also wanted to fight him again.
There weren't many warriors that could match or exceed her in physical strength or gloriously unfair advantages over most fighters, she was learning that quickly as she continued to grow, and it was rapidly becoming a thirst that was growing ever more difficult to quench. Without challenge, her growth would stall, and she would never find out where her limits truly lay. And that was where her mind and body disagreed. Intellectually she knew that she should probably try to kill him, but it would be such a waste to lose an opponent of that caliber without getting all she could from him first.
Nayru bit her lip in indecisive uncertainty for a moment, not entirely sure which side to take or how to proceed, then locked in a solution quickly after a moment of further thought, the hesitation vanishing in smoke as she leaned down to Mana again. "Listen, I'm going to check things out. I'll be back for you in a bit, so don't do anything crazy, alright?" Patting the swordswoman on the shoulder for emphasis and a bit of human contact, Nayru fled the scene of the crime instead of helping Mana regain her senses moved away to check out their immediate vicinity. She'd check back in with the girl later, but for now it seemed like a good idea to survey their surroundings; the creature SEEMED gone and she had places to be, but she wasn't going to just leave an obviously hurt girl entirely alone.
[Nayru exit topic, though IC she's still in the vicinity for now.]

Mana was too focused with praying so she didn't hear what Nayru said. She pleaded to the gods of the plains, to the spirits of the blade, and to whoever that might help. The dark magic had hurt her badly, so bad that she couldn't imagine what effect it might have on the innocent baby. The little one was still pure but also defenseless against such attack, his life was in danger right now.
Mana smiled and shed tears as she felt some kind of power flowed through her sacred sword into the poor baby. She wasn't sire how it worked but his vitals is gradually increasing, proving that he was getting better somehow. It was unknown if there would be a long-term effect caused by nether magic but at least for now his life could be saved. He then started crying again which actually was a good sign, showing that life had returned to the little body.
With one problem resolved, Mana opened her eyes and looked around. She hadn't forgotten that there was still a strange demon lurking nearby. Even with the thunder goddess demon observing and guarding the area she couldn't become lax and drop her guard. Finding Nayru was still in the vicinity, probably making sure that the demon wasn't nearby, Mana let out a tired sigh as she slumped next to the baby. Both the physical and mental wounds had taken great toll on her body. It was as if all of her muscles were severed and her life force was fading away.
Mana started to fall into slumber next to the baby that she had been trying to protect so hard. The Sacaen smiled as she saw the baby for the last time before exhaustion overcame her. "Sorry...Big sister need a little rest...just a minute..." she muttered softly before she closed her eyes.

Well, so much for a glorious final battle of light and dark. The shadow warrior had disappeared entirely, apparently prone to cowardice when faced with something that could actually take him on. Or maybe he just had to take a giant dump, he'd certainly been groaning like it. Almost as disappointed in her disgusting toilet humor as the results of her search, Nayru had returned to the scene of the crime, not especially relishing the idea of explaining herself to the crazy sword chick but realizing that if she wasn't going to have much fun today, she might at least pretend to be responsible. Even if she was turning into a battle maniac.
"Now what should we do with you...?"
Struggling to resist the urge to kick the baby until it stopped crying, Nayru gazed down at the unconscious and defenseless maiden, considering doing horrible things to the girl before remembering that she didn't have anything to draw on Mana's face with. Well, so much for that idea.
The smart thing to do would be to just walk away, of course. The strange warrior seemed to have disappeared completely, whether from cowardice or wisdom she knew not. She couldn't sense him, and while granted she didn't exactly have Aerious's levels of enhanced senses, she did have pretty good sight, smell, and hearing if nothing else, and yet none of them nor her sixth sense were particularly blaring warnings about impending doom. She didn't really peg Mr. Murderhobo over there as the stealthy type either, going by his display so far, so frankly speaking it was unlikely that he would try to pull off any special shenanigans. Nayru didn't really want to deal with the consequences of her actions in trying to save the swordswoman or answer any questions, and she wasn't really looking for fame much less name recognition. So yeah. Relatively safe for the girl and much safer for her. Obvious choice of action. Pragmatic and efficient.
...
As she cautiously hefted the midget monster onto her shoulder, mumbling soothing threats to it in a strangely dichotomous manner that probably would have seriously worried the average observer, Nayru blithely wondered to herself why she wasn't following her own advice. The best-case scenario here was that the horrible little crotch dropping didn't poop on her shoulder while they were traveling. But even if the likelihood of the monster returning was low, she just didn't feel right about leaving Mana unconscious and alone in the dirt. The girl was clearly exhausted, possibly injured as well from the results of that strange magic attack the wraith had used, and Nayru was... not an expert on magic, especially dark. Probably best to make sure she was alright.
The dragon sighed theatrically, to herself, to the skies, to a cruel and uncaring world as she hefted Mana over her shoulder like a sack of lumpy potatoes with her free arm, and started walking away from the scene of the crime with a look of resignation painting her face. She KNEW she was going to regret this, one hundred thousand million percent, the only question was how many of the countless unpleasant scenarios running through her mind came true, and how much time she was going to waste with this diversion. Not quite the face of a selfless and heroic superhero admittedly, but after the disappointment of tall dark and evil disappearing and robbing her of a good fight, she was probably going to be a bit moody for the rest of the day, or at least until she bounced back.
[Surprise return to end topic, but like, for real this time. Also there's probably something ironic about a dragon kidnapping a (sword) princess.]
