Elesia skipped through the forest on wings of air, figuratively speaking, she wasn't actually flying or doing anything all that funky with her new-found powers and it was just a figure of speech. It was a nice day out, she had long since decided, and so far reality had not found the courage to challenge her will on the subject - sunny sky, birds and bees humming around, not too hot thanks to what remnants of the gentle breeze kept moving in the forest.
...It reminded her of home a bit. The good parts, anyways. For all her lackadaisical nature's failings, Elesia remembered the harshness of winters all too well, and while she had many fond memories of life in the forest, she didn't particularly want to go back in time to exactly the way she had been before. She still loved the forest and wouldn't mind living in one, but stuff like houses, steady food, and the many other things that civilized culture offered were greater than the alternative. And besides, if she hadn't left the forest in the first place, she never would have met Hal or Zach or Vivian, nor would she have learned what she had of the nature of society, of humanity.
If nothing else, the horrors she had seen in Hal's hometown as the brutality and reality of the Rebellion versus occupation forces finally came to life, had expanded her horizons immensely. Having met Zach on the rebel side, but also knowing Hal from the other - the wyld mage still hadn't entirely managed to reconcile her airy views of each individual friend with the monumental factions they represented, nor the terrible things each force had apparently inflicted on those in between. It didn't even make sense to her, honestly, but now that she had been exposed to it, torn from her blissful ignorance, Elesia had to deal with it. Mentally, anyways. She had no idea why she would join either of them when both sides seemed to have good guys in them.
Unfortunately(?) she was rescued from the terrible fate of serious thought by hearing some... scuffling... stuff from somewhere, probably, unless she was imagining it after finally snapping. Huh. Nope, there was definitely noise, which was not especially surprising given that forests tended to have noises, but it sounded like people noises, which was more unusual. Grunting? Maybe it was a glorious battle between the Demon King and the Heroes of Light, or the dragons had come back and were peeing on trees or something! AN OPPORTUNITY FOR GLORY or at least something to distract herself with - Elesia didn't really concern herself with which was which as she burst into the clearing with slightly less than zero subtlety.

How long had it been? Several years? Or just a few months... Rose couldn't tell honestly. But it had been a while since she had left the small pirate ship she had been on. The oddest thing about her? Even with being a pirate, the girl used a spear. No one has seen a pirate wield a lance? Let alone use anything but the burly axes they had kept around at all times. But, it was the only thing the young woman could use... It was lighter than an axe, it gave her an extreme advantage when it came to the distance she could attack. Though, as it was proven to her, anyone with an axe could cut through the lances staff with a well timed swing. Leaving her utterly useless in a fight... She missed the swaying of the boat, and she hated to admit it, she missed the guys on the ship with the man she called her father.
Even if he had ransacked her village, and killed everyone within it. She had grown up with him since she was little, and the emotion of hate she had developed for the man vanished in time. Yet how did she end up here? She was in the middle of a forest, with no one around... And she hadn't seen a village in a while. She had taken her first step off the ship in stride, and yet... She stood in the middle of a giant forest where no one could be found. To make the matter worse, she had been walking for several hours without so much as a soul in sight. At this rate, she wasn't going to be making it anywhere any time soon. Plus who knew how much light she had left? When would it go and leave her in total darkness? All these thoughts filled her head as she walked through the giant forest.
The wind blew through the tree's making a small whistle as it passed through the leaves. The branches dancing and making a noise of that of falling rain as the wind passed through... It was peaceful when she stood there and thought about it... Not every day you get in a scenic situation without trying. Most of the time, it was just endless water, with the sun falling behind the horizon. Though that wasn't so bad, especially when the pink and orange sunset greeted her. To be honest, this trip wasn't getting her anywhere, and she was feeling a bit dull... Maybe she could take this peaceful moment to practice her spear work some more... It couldn't hurt anyway, and instead of wasting time, she'd be getting in a bit more practice.
Reaching up towards her back, Rose removed the iron lance from her straps. The weapon was shorter than normal, as she had personally cut off the end with an axe from the ship. It made the ungodly large lance easier to handle in most situations. Looking around, Rose made sure that the area was cleared before she took a deep breath. Without a whole lot of formal training, she was pretty much using the lance in a way that made sense to her. Short thrust here and there, along with jabs and swipes. The blade on the end was like a knife, and could be used in various ways. Getting into the groove of using her spear again. She began to pant. Letting out Ha's and other noises as she brought her speed up, trying to get used to the weight again. Sweat began to burrow down her brow as she worked her way through her routine motions.
She started to get really into it, before a startling surprise happened. A girl probably around her age popped out of no where shouting. Causing Rose to panick for a moment before turning and thrusting her spear in the direction of the sound. Stopping it short a bit of a small woman. Rose standing around five foot four, was a bit short. She had short purple hair that went about shoulder length, she had an eye patch over her left eye. Her one good eye was bright blue and starring at the girl. Rose was dressed in some leather like pants, with a white button up shirt and a cloak that the crew members from the ship had. It was nothing special really, just some clothing that had been put together out of what the men had worn when she was on the ship. "I...I'm sorry, you startled me..." She said with a voice that was cold. Almost void of emotions.

"AsdFGSFDS," Elesia articulated clearly while hopping backwards in sheer shock and horror at the thought of being an Elesia spit roast - which actually sounded delicious as it happened, since she was delicious and she was also kind of hungry, but also painful. Mostly painful. But thanks to her incredible reflexes - that Rose had stopped her own attack didn't really register with Elesia - she was left unscathed by the devilishly accurate and deadly assault on her person.
Elesia stared blankly at the lancewoman with wide eyes, taking in the sight like she was drinking an ocean. Except not actually anything like that, because oceans were apparently salty, and that was bad. She was a specialist on evil people, and this person was registering a 0.5 on the 1-10 scale of Mustache-Twirling Douchebag, which rounded down to zero, which meant that by elementary logic, she wasn't actually evil. But she did have really pretty purple hair! It was all, like, shiny and stuff, which was something an evil mastermind would totally know how to do. They had magic too, after all, and changing your hair color to anything NOT green sounded pretty dastardly.
Ehhh it was the hero's duty to save evil people, and she wasn't TOTALLY convinced the purple lady was evil yet, maybe she was just like, crazy or something. Yeah, that made sense. Nodding to herself in the wake of her brilliant deduction, Elesia herself brightened up like the morning sun, except with less literal and more figurative meanings, because she was smiling and stuff. "Hi! I'm Elesia! What's your name? Whatcha doin'? Got any food?"

Rose sat there slightly confused as to what was going on... This young girl, had made a strange noise, almost as if she was a caught rabbit that couldn't speak... And instead made a series of noises and sounds as she backed away from Rose's spear. She didn't even acknowledge that the purple haired woman had spoken to her. But instead stood away from her reach, looking at her with a pair of giant round eyes. It seemed that she had been more frightened than anything at the moment. But the way the girl was searching Rose made her feel a bit vulnerable. In fact that gaze almost belonged to that of a pervert, which kind of made Rose move the spear closer to her body. Might just be the aura that the small woman was giving off in front of her. That was until she smiled, and the stream of words flowed out.
It was almost as if it was a interview, with a midnight job meeting, and having to rush to get the mission details out of the way, as the employer was in a hurry so he didn't get caught hiring a mercenary to do his dirty work. First the young woman introduced herself as Elesia, and then a series of questions flowed after that. All Rose could think about at the moment, was how this girl was even functioning. One moment she's nearly impaled, the next she's looking at Rose with eyes of a pervert... Or at least for Rose this was the case. To make matters worse, she went all bubbly it was like going from zero, to a hundred, back to zero and returning again in less than three seconds. Rose tilted her head slightly as her sky blue eye starred at Elesia for a moment before she began to speak.
"Uhh... My name is Rose..." She said quietly barely above a whisper as she tried to figure out the small woman in front of her. "As for what I am doing... Well I was practicing with my lance... I haven't had the time to use it, after I got off the ship... This place seemed to be deserted, and I thought it would be-" She didn't get to finish before the next question got off. The Purple haired woman shook her head slightly. When the green haired Elesia, asked if she had some food. Reaching into a pouch, Rose produced some dried beef, and some sun dried fish sprinkled with pepper, salt and lemon. Being sun dried kept it fresh longer, but the salt and pepper trapped in the flavor, the lemon was her own personal touch to the concoction. "Well, I have what the men called jerky.... And I have a sun dried fish.." She said holding them up.

"Rose." Those were flowers, right? But Hal had said they were supposed to be red, not purple... maybe Rose's parents were really confused about how flowers worked when naming her. She felt kinda bad for the girl. "That's a pretty name!" Elesia smiled guilelessly, sincere in her simplicity. Even if the name was a little weird, it was really pretty, 'cuz flowers were pretty, so being named after a flower was cool. Maybe it was some deep meaning thing? Like... pretty and thorny...? Oh! That would explain the spear thing. Maybe her parents had known all along she was gonna be a stabby person and there were actually really smart... but the hair still wasn't red, so they couldn't be THAT smart.
Elesia had no idea what ship Rose was talking about, but she had watched Hal practice stabbing stuff enough that she could nod sagely at the answer, understanding the concept pretty well. Other people weren't as awesome as her so they had to practice, and she couldn't fault them for that. You had to make the best you could with what you had, they had just started in NOT first place in the race of life, or, uh, something like that, she wasn't sure where the metaphimile was going. She was pretty sure that was food, though, and would have swooped in to get it if the memories of Hal yelling at her stealing stuff weren't still fresh in her mind.
It was more the morality of a child than an adult, but that distinction was lost on her. So was Rose's wording. "What do women call it then? Is it not jerky if a girl talks about it?" She sniffed anyways and was pleasantly surprised that it smelled really good, though some of the scents were foreign. She did recognize some of the spices from her forays into human society though, which was pretty awesome. "That smells totally awesome though, are you, like, a super cook? Can I have some?"

Rose just stood there for a moment, trying to figure out what was going on with this girl in front of her. It's like she was stuck on her name for the longest of times. Yet she also seemed to like it, that's when she blurted out of no where that it had been pretty after a moment of silence. A small shake of Rose's head made the young woman clear her thoughts... The first person she was to meet after stepping off the ship, happened to be a young woman, that was perhaps a bit more crazy than she was... And that was saying something at this time. She had grown up around nothing but men, so she knew she hadn't been like most girls... Is this woman in front of her, how they're suppose to act? If that was true... Rose didn't want to meet another one. This one alone was enough.
Suddenly the girl asked what the girls called it, if it was what the boys called it. How come, it wasn't jerky when girls talked about it. The simplicity of the question nearly made Rose just drop down in laughter. It didn't matter what gender you where, it was still called a jerky. But in the end, it could be called something different. "Not to sure... I'm pretty sure we just call it jerky as well... Or it'd just be tough meat on the other hand." She said thinking about the question a bit more. It was the first time, anyone's even asked that before. Looking down at the green haired female in front of her, she could see that the little one was indeed hungry... Well she shouldn't call her little, they where probably around the same height... But, their mentality seemed to be very different.
When the girl asked for some, she commented about how it smelled nice. Which was the first compliment Rose had gotten on her cooking, the guys on the ship just ate it whenever they wanted. However, they never commented on how good it smelt, or how it tasted. Nodding slightly, Rose handed some of the dried fish and jerky to the girl. When she'd bite into the fish it was a bit soft, and came apart easy. The jerky was hard almost like a chew. Each bite though was full of flavor. "A little hint, is if you take a small bite of the fish." Rose demonstrated as she took a bite of the fish. Talking with her mouth opened a bit. "And then some jerky." She said tearing a piece off the jerky. It took away the dryness of the jerky by adding in the soft juicy fish. Swallowing her bite she smiled. "As for a super cook, I don't think so. I just experiment."
