“S-seventy silver!? Sir, I could never possibly accept so much from you. I merely shared what I had with an injured man. I act only as St. Elimine would have me.” It would seem Emily helped a very wealthy and thankful man.
The man waved away the girls polite refusal. “And would St. Elimine wish for you to refuse a kindness in return?” He had a point. Palming the payment she thanked the man and swore to offer half to the next church she passed.
Picking up her bags and looking at her map she began back upon the road. It was a long way to Bern. If she was ever to reach the remains of Hargus’s old hideout she could afford no delays. War was brewing and she needed the truth from any that the Prophet had once allied with, or the rebels that broke from his command. She needed to learn of their tales.
As she travelled she offered up small prayers of thanks and asking for any guidance. She needed a sign, or something to send her the right way. A horse would be best but she would never ask for a luxury that was not necessity.
The hour grew late and the next town was still miles off. The worry of bandits crossed the young girls mind and so she set up her humble camp in the nearby woods. She had no fire to aid her but before dark she set up a small covering from the things around her and laid down within a bedroll. Her armor was laid beside her and her lance was within reach. She prayed she not need it. But one never knows what one will find in the dark places in the world.

Well, this was certainly a new experience for Liv. She had no idea where this situation particularly started. Oh, it was certainly exciting and brand spanking new, but it wasn’t something that she ever saw coming. It didn’t seem as though her abductors knew what they were doing either. Each one of them took nervous glances at her as she simply sat around with her tome unfolded on her lap. She hummed and whistled a few tunes, trying her best to concentrate on this whole magic ordeal.
“So uhh, it okay to let the girl with her magic book?” the sturdiest and worn man asked, glancing over at the others. They had used her as hostage to get away from some crime, but now it seemed that her usefulness had been expended. It didn’t bother her though, she wasn’t even particularly troubled when they had pressed a rusty old knife against her throat.
“Beats me, doesn’t look like she could use it,” answered his friend to the side. Then another moment of awkward silence continued, before one of them cleared their throat, trying to get her attention.
“Ya can run on back to that village kid, we’re uhh…done with ya,” the leader finally piped in. She glanced up and looked around at the wilderness. She couldn’t go back, quite literally. They had traveled a whole nation worth and they were smack dab in the middle of Etruria. She had wanted to visit this country in the past, there were tales of famous magic people here or something. Her big sister was adamant about avoiding this country, but she still couldn’t tell why.
“Okay,” she answered, closing her book and tucking it under an arm. These weren’t bad men, they only seemed to have made a slight mistake. They were even kind enough to outfit her with some supplies and money. As soon as she waved goodbye, she had begun running in the direction of the supposed road. It wasn’t long before the excitable little made burst through some foliage and slamming into something in her haste. At least she managed to get on the road.

"One does not simply stop being Anseah." "If you can't stop it, you will never be allowed to return." Unforgivable. Unforgivable._______________ It was the same every time. Why did he think today would be any different? The first visit 3 years ago, the next visit the following winter, the last spring, today -- every time. He could barely reach the hem of the shining white porcelain & gold studded gates marking the entrance to a certain garden. He had been turned away for the umpteenth time, denied his simple request to meet his destiny and having his etiquette and decorum insulted time and time again. Each time the smallish, purple-haired lads frustration grew. Further diminishing what progress he had made, but he ingested the frustrations with a grain of salt, some day he would find a way in to the proper society, some day he would meet his destiny, some day he could stop this bellowing feeling rupturing his stomach. Some day. But alas, some day was never today. "Oh well... GrandMysty is probably expecting to see me back soon anyway..." the defeated Nyroshea paced in the darkness beneath the stars. How late had it been? Goodness--it must have been dusk hour or something of that sort. 'Was that why they were so angry with me?' he contemplated to himself, though he doubted that was the sole reason behind the refusal, it gave him something to think about that could lessen the blow. "Why bother sticking around here..?" the lad made his way along a small path, it was late, and he was weary. Having traveled to Etruria from Ilia taking detours through Sacae's vast plains and Bern. Getting lost several days worth of time along the way was a trial most cumbersome, one he may not have made it through if not for the aid of his friend, Sclaevinius, a mage who he had long since parted ways with. And now he had to make this trek back on his own. Wonderful. He still had a small portion of food left in his satchel, it should suffice for a few days to a week if he proportions his rations properly. Coin on the other hand, was a different matter altogether. The detours and paying for Sclaevinius' food as well didn't help with financial management. Realizing this, Nyroshea places his softly gloved palm against his forehead with a small groan. "Egh, I'll be fine..." He chirped in an optimistic tone, balling his fists as he smiled frontwards, surely! Things always had a way of working themselves out. The fates were on his side -- maybe? Now now, now's not the time for more leisurely doubt. With a skip and a hop, he made his way through a grove of trees. . .

Emily was content and warm. Her eyes were heavy and her body felt light. Her thoughts slowly became more and more incoherent until they were moving pictures; she was finally asleep. This did not last long. Something was moving out there, the fallen leaves rustled and kicked up and about. Twigs snapped loudly and it came closer and closer, louder and louder. Soon Emily had to get up but it was too late to react, her bedroll had her trapped in its warm but closed space. She felt a heavy thud against her flank before something came crashing down over top of her. “EEP!!!” was all she could manage. It was too dark to know what but it seemed to be a creature that walked on two legs. After a fit of struggling Emily managed to get clear of the bedroll and face her presumed attacker.
Striking lit a torch she saw a small girl was the one that had trampled her. In an instant her fighter’s instinct died down replaced by curiosity. Who was she? Why was she here? “Er, are you alright?” It was now that she noticed how cold it was outside her bed. The night winds pierced her gown, amplified by the sweat creating an intense chill, she shivered.
Hardly a moment to answer was given when there was more rustling in the woods. “Get behind me!” Emily did not know the girl she aimed to protect, what was about to happen, or much of the area, but she did know she had a lance… nearby. WHERE WAS IT!!!?
In the darkness she could not find her things. If they were to be attacked they would surely be struck down, or captured. Suddenly another ‘girl’ came through the trees. Emily shoved the lit torch out at ‘her’ before realizing ‘she’ looked harmless. Lowering her arm she looked between the two figures questioningly… “Um, hi?” By St. Elimine, are they the sign she asked for?

They say that children were robust little things and Liv would be a living example of that. It took only a small moment of lag before the feisty girl was back on her legs and practically jumping around exuberantly in the crisp night air. What would make the night better would be if the air was colder, but that won’t happen. It seemed as though every place out of Ilia was very warm or hot in comparison. It wasn’t like she lived in the coldest region either.
“I’m fine!” she said, bursting and jumping up excitedly, her face brimming with happiness. She took one note of the older girl in front of her and practically immediately took a liking to her. A part of wanted to eagerly latch on, even if they were the same size. It would be nice if she stopped growing, that way, she’ll be as big as need be in comparison to the other children.
“Hello friend!” she shouted out, waving her arms at the other bustle in the bushes. Was she tired? No, she was beyond tired. This was one of her few times that she experienced tiredness so much that she had more energy than before.
“Well this is fun! I just finished being abducted and I already run into more people,” she chirped, prancing around the one she had crashed in. After a moment, she finally remembered her manners and looked to the one she had fallen on.
“Sorry, I was just really excited about going on an adventure.”

There was a sound in the distance, a sound of a flickering flame? .. No. It wasn't quite fire. The sound was much more subtle, like a shadows whispers haunting the forest. Could it have been ghosts? Probably not, but the violet haired child was not above suspecting the ethereal first, as he was very superstitious. He clenched his hand beneath his scarf, clutching the concealed pendant he had worn underneath; shoulders stiff. He could feel his face turning blue as his fingers throbbed with a small rush of blood. Run.
Run away.
He wanted to escape, but he couldn't feel his feet anymore. They hadn't gone numb, he simply forgot how to work them under all of the pressure. If a ghost calls out to you--you should never look it in the eye, he heard. If it's a particular sort, it could suck out your soul! No! He couldn't have that, but yet he felt his head turning.... turning.. TURNING!
Curiosity is such a dangerous sin. ...
...
Or maybe not.
... ...
His grip relieved itself, as the lad releases the loudest sigh. It was only a couple of happy campers, doing camp things. Probably telling stories or eating something. They didn't particularly look like seasoned, hardy adventurers anyway, they looked more like children around his age. For some reason he always suspected people his age to go about doing childly things that could never compare with the stressful anxieties his labor brought upon him. But the world was a surprising place, his situation was unfortunately more commonplace than he would hope for.
He offered a nonchalant wave at the torch-bearing girl and her little friend -- hadn't he seen that girl once before? ... Nah, it couldn't have been. "Late night," he moved a bit closer, but not disturbingly so. Outstretching his hands by his side, he waved both of his palms back and forth. "At ease, I'm but a passerby. No brigand, I assure you~" he spoke in a most whimsical tone, despite not having any assurance that they themselves weren't criminals of any sort. He was always quick to trust children.
Resting his arms at his side, Nyroshea takes a few paces towards them, to get a better look at the two. "My, do you two camp out often? That must be fun~ I hope you didn't sneak out without telling your parents or something. That would be B-A-D, along with staying up this late. All good kids should be asleep by now, you knoow~?" he poked a finger to his lower lip, as he playfully scolded the children despite not being any older or well behaved himself -- he was still awake, he was still sneaking about too!

Emily now had two strangers in her presence, one danced about whimsically and the other called them both children. The second would need a stern talking to acting like that, but the first drew a bit more concern. “Pardon? Did you say you were abducted?”
Emily looked at Liv in horror and disbelief. “What is your name dear? As soon as there is light I can take you with me to the next town, the church will certainly agree to keep you safe and help you home. Did your captors, well erm, hurt you?” She had no idea what kind of story she was in for. Adventure? Was the girl mentally sound? Emily was confused and concerned.
Turning to face the other intruder she acknowledged the fact that everyone was a convenient stranger here. “You weren’t this girl’s captor were you? You shouldn’t lie to me.” She looked around for her things and noticed her scabbard sitting a few feet away. Keeping an ever watchful eye she picked it up.
The ‘girl’ before her looked to be around her age and yet she spoke very disdainfully towards them. Something in Emily boiled but she with strained herself. Wrath was a terrible sin and to act upon it so childishly would merely solidify the attitude to grounded reason. Even so, she had to be corrected upon her mistreating; the world was not so kind as to allow children to exist for long.
“With respect I must correct you. I am on a divine quest sanctioned by the church. I am not some child out past their curfew. This one is… well, I only just met her a moment before you showed up.” She gazed back and forth hoping for someone or something to help make sense of it all. “And what of yourself? Are you above reproach for your late night wanderings?” Emily did not know it yet but she was actually the eldest of the three.

"Yep! Was! Now I'm free, the nice guys that stole me along gave me a bunch of food and a bit of money for the trouble," Liv replied, cheerful that the other girl weren't too injured by her carelessness. Her concern was normal albeit meaningless to the pupil's sense of reality.
"Nah, they didn't hurt me, I mean they pressed a rusty knife to the neck while trying to get away, but they're really nice fellows when you get to know them. Real awkward though, didn't have much to say," she remarked as she dug through her supply bag. There were the basics needed for any adventure, so in the end these men made up their crime in letting her loose into the world. She looked to the other girl that had appeared, turning her head slightly as she thought hard. She seemed so familiar...have they met before?
"Hi! I'm Liv by the way, gonna be a super duper mage one day!" she proudly declared, thrusting a fist in the air.
"Super duper mages like me, one day, don't really have bed times," she lied, knowing by now, Levity would have expected her to be snuggled in bed.
"Plus I...I don't really have a home anymore, so I just need to find my big sis. She can be anywhere," she remarked, pointing this out to the one that suggested the church. There was no way she was going to some church and getting their help. They'll probably make her stay in one place until Levity picked her up or something. She wasn't going to pass up a chance to explore the world.
"I don't need any church help! I can find her myself!" she puffed as she crossed her arms in faux anger.

L..liv huh..? Like in living..?, was what he had wanted to say, but it felt as though it may have been deja vu. Liv, Liv. Where did he hear that name before? Had he heard it before? Nah, it must be his imagination again. In any case, that should be the least of his worries. The blonde one seemed irritated to a point borderlining hostility--at least, that's what Nyroshea made of it from how firmly she clung to her scabbard for protection. She went as far as accusing him of kidnapping too? Wasn't that something only an adult could do? How disheartening, "I did nothing of the sort..! Though--" he paused for a moment, what kind of abductors would kidnap a girl, let her go, and give her pleasant things? Maybe they were new at the kidnapping thing. Or maybe they just had some strange situation a kid such as he could never fathom. "It sounds like they weren't really out for blood or anything, so just thank the saint you're alive still~" and with that said, they could finally draw a close on such a horrid topic. ... Or maybe it wasn't the end. The `girl’ with purple hair lets out a soft chortle. 'Caught me in the act, huh?' the vibrantly yellow eyes of Nyro's narrow just a bit as a large smile forms upon his placid features. "I don't have a curfew, but it can easily be explained by me not being a good kid." he wasn't really a bad kid either, far from it. He was actually quite well behaved! But alone, with strangers, he could make himself sound as tough as he had wanted right? "I am a teenager and I've walked the paths alone many a time...s... Times!" he corrected his speech quickly. He wasn't lying, but he had been trying to make it play off as if he'd been some seasoned wanderer in spite of his most fragile appearance and that dopey gleam of innocence sparkling in his eye. "Sister huh? Are you and her by chance Ilians?" now what could have tipped that off to him? "...If you are, she's probably not here of all places. But I dunno." he whimsically shrugged, turning about. "The forest is big, there's all sorts of people here. Just stay away from the strange adults and you'll be fine." he exclaimed as he began to pace away from the other two. "Many of the adults of this world are evil you know? Good kids shouldn't talk to strangers either."

Liv's attitude and bouncy actions were confusing and in a way disturbing to Emily, how was she supposed to interpret all of this. Several times as she spoke the girl let out a humph as she was constantly at a loss for words. At the end she looked like she was defeated in a battle before it could ever be fought. "Er, well, I'm very glad you are okay then..."
In a way the young mage to be made the girl feel relaxed. It was always pleasant to see the untainted innocence of youth. This other 'girl' however seemed far more foul and ill tempered. 'She' spoke so haughtily it was irritating. Emily considered her options though and relented to asking for help; after all a simple night in the woods was greatly complicated and to ignore what seemed to be a sign from Elimine so early in her quest would not be for the best.
"Wait! Before you go; you said you have walked these paths countless times, yes?" It was an unnecessary reiteration as 'she' just said it. "Then take us with you to the town. I will only be but a moment in getting dressed and we can be on our way." She smiled at 'her' trusting in the better nature of humanity. In fact she never even considered that she would be turned down her request. Without actually waiting for a reply she began to search for her armor and began to outfit herself. "Oh, may I have your name while we are at it?"

"Yep yep, we're totally Ilians, had to move cause there weren't any job in our town and still looking for a home," Liv explained, feeling like this was perhaps the hundredth time she had given this story. It was most likely this many, but that didn't make it any less boring. She was happy to travel, even it leaving her home was so difficult. If she didn't say goodbye to her old friends, she wouldn't have been able to meet these new ones here. The purple haired girl though seemed extremely familiar.
"Big sis says that too, but I don't think I'm a good kid," Liv admitted, looking away guiltily. She did burn a lot of things on accident and tried to avoid actively breaking a rules.
"But it's okay, you two aren't strangers, we're like friends now!" she said cheerfully, jumping up and down excitedly. She was so happy to make new friends, her boundless energy had to be exerted outwards somehow.
"Even if they're bad, I can make them stop with my magic!" she said, puffing up with a bit of unwarranted pride. She would try to make them stop with her magic, it was up to luck on rather that would turn out as it should or end in something else burning...a lot. She didn't actually want to burn anyone, but she was taught that sometimes one had to fight back, so she will.
"I can handle it, probably, I mean I got the gist of it," she tried to explain, only to make a distinct cracking sound in the air from her magic. It seemed she had the whole collecting in one area right. Now she only needed to resolve the actual formation.

As he was to take his next pace, he halted as the girls pleas pander upon his eardrums. Stopping on his heel, he let his foot sink back on the ground. A small smile hid itself in the shadows of the night. Was she really asking him for help? How delightful to feel needed!
"A-ah, yeah I can show you how to get to the next village.. Cotswell, I think it was? I don't remember it, after being on foot so long all of these villages start looking the same." he scratches his cheek lightly, glimpsing at the two with just the corner of his eyes, kept beneath his purple bangs. Maybe they weren't such bad kids after all.
He brushed his hair off to the side, that small girl was having a rougher life than even he had. If she could perk up, than surely he shouldn't let what happened earlier keep him in this sour position for too long either. "Alright, alright, we're friends. Just calm down~ Liv. -- Nyroshea, by the way. My name is Nyroshea. What's yours?"
His demeanor changed almost entirely. Though before she could answer he would turn his face away, after all, it was rude to watch a girl getting dressed, especially if you're a boy! Though they probably didn't know that--and he knew this all too well. It didn't help that he had an equally as delicate voice to accomodate his appearance either, and especially the fact that he never denies being a woman having that mischievous side of his that enjoys playing damsel in distress.
He instead stared at his fingernails, rubbing them against one another while he waited for the two to ready up, letting out a small chuckle as the spunky shortie mentioned stopping the adults with her magic. "I'm sure you can do better than I can~ They'll all fear your tiny wrath..~" she was so cute, he couldn't help but to laugh again. That pure little ball of energy's personality was refreshing. If not by might, she could probably win her fights off that cuteness alone, using it to sway her enemies.
"Make sure you don't leave anything behind~"

Emily would have begun to feel sick and dizzy had she tried to follow all of Liv’s movements. The girl was a ball of compressed energy and it was constantly exploding out of bursting pockets. Although, did she say she does not think herself a good person? True no one is inherently good; to think one bad is not good either. “Um, Liv, if you would like we could stop by the church and you can speak to the chaplain there. Confession is a good way to relieve yourself of your transgressions.” Emily spoke earnestly and with a touch of enthusiasm.
She set about her chest piece at this point and continued, “It is alright to fight back against those that wish you harm but until you can properly wield your gifts I would suggest we play defensively and try to avoid confrontations. I may be armed well but I certainly don’t have the skills to accompany it I’m afraid.” She finally addressed Nyro, “Thank you again for staying.” She noticed that ‘she’ kept looking away from her deliberately. It was a funny thing seeing another ‘girl’ getting bashful over something so trivial but different lives breed different views. “Did I ever offer my name? I guess not. I am Emily.” She was now dressed and adjusting her battle tiara before choking her hair into a tight hold as she placed her pin. The ponytail held her hair back and still fell freely.
Were they friends? They’d only just met after all. People were always so quick to seek these sorts of ties when they were all alone. No, they were not friends; she knew so little about them. “I don’t know if we are friends, but I would like to be. I pray by the time our journey reaches its end we will be able to make such claims.” She was the only one to take such a stance and she hoped she made no offenses. Picking up her pack she slung it around, the bedroll sitting tightly at the bottom. “Alright you two, let’s get out of this forest shall we? Lead on Nyroshea!” With a large and enthusiastic step Emily lunged into the underbrush and stepped into a hole. “WOAH!” She laughed sheepishly. Pulling her foot out she was glad she didn’t harm herself. “And be careful of holes…”

Sitting in some foliage nearby, apparently unaware of these events, Alex clutched his fire tome to his chest and rocked back and forth while hyperventilating. It had happened again. He had seized up at the experience of another vision of his past life. He had blacked out, only now becoming aware of where he was, but not knowing how he got there. Slowly, as his senses returned to him, he tried to gain composure, but failed to do so. Tears began to roll down his cheeks. It was always there. The image of that woman, the lance protruding from her stomach. Was it his mother? A sister? A mentor? He had no idea. He just knew that he had once been very close to her and even now this image shook him to his very core. Hearing the commotion nearby, Alex tried to stifle his turmoil, fearing that the laughter he could hear was of bandits, or that he may be ridiculed by whoever was passing by or, even worse, be taken as a lunatic.
Drying his eyes on the sleeve of his cloak, Alex got turned over onto his knees and peered out of the bushes to get his bearings. In the distance he could see two girls and a boy, seemingly as old as himself. One of them was jumping around her companions, almost too fast to follow. A dancer, perhaps? He next focused on the male companion. He seemed to be somewhat frustrated by the presence of the two girls. Finally, he turned to the older girl. He blushed as he was struck by the beauty of this girl. "Gods..." He uttered. Surely she was his age? Was this the girl he dreamed of finding? He quickly recovered himself. He could not present himself to these strangers as a gushing wreck; Such behaviour would be thoroughly undignified. She was probably of no meaning to his life anyway. He had probably just got overexcited at the site of a girl his age after wandering for so long in the wilderness. Then it struck him as he sat back into the large bush; Why had he come here? Thinking about it now, he was sure that he had a destination and had simply stopped in the bush...to rest? To protect himself from bandits? Everything was fuzzy.
At this moment Alex heard a deep growl from behind him. He looked back. A small wolf was baring its fangs at him. Unfazed, he softly swatted the beast on the muzzle to startle it and establish himself as the superior individual in the stand-off. After whining for a moment, the wolf cub gazed up in Alex's eyes. One could see it was alone, with no mother or den to go to, just like the pupil who sat before him. Taking pity on the poor thing, Alex pulled out a toughened leather gauntlet and slipped it onto his right hand before stretching out his palm before the cub. It started licking his fingertips affectionately. Seeing that the creature was in fact friendly, Alex pulled out his bag of rations from in between his legs and and offered the wolf a small scrap of salted beef he recalled purchasing in a roadside market earlier in the day. Upon seeing the cub gratefully chew on the morsel, he beckoned it to follow him. Mutual companionship was something which they both lacked, and the two could clearly see that they had nothing to lose in trusting the other. Following this, Alex quietly emerged from the back end of the bush so as not to be seen and, signalling for his new companion to maintain this silence, he kept pace with the group he had seen earlier, making sure that he broke their line of sight by staying behind them and obscured by foliage. This all seemed to be going rather well, until Alex plunged his foot into a hole in the path, causing two large thuds as both his body and tome hit the ground.

"Nyroshea...Nyro...shea, that sounds familiar, have we met?" Liv asked, tilting her head to the side as she began to slowly walk around the other girl. Wait, was she a girl? She moved over and gave her a hug, not her usual tight one, but a casual one. It seemed familiar enough, she generally remembers most people she hugs, but she has hugged a lot of people. After a moment, she let go and began circling around the two excitedly again.
"Well then what are we waiting for, adventure!" Liv cheered as she slowed herself down to a halt. She excitedly looked around for a moment, before running in a random direction. It was only after a few seconds and many steps forward did she realize her mistake and ran back to her group. She had absolutely no idea where they were going.
"Sorry, I'm just really excited," she said, deciding that she would try her best to stay close to the others. Of course moments later, she broke that promise at the sound of two thuds. Before anyone could say anything else, she ran towards the sound and found herself a boy on the ground and magic tome not too dissimilar to her own.
"You okay?" she asked, bending over and resting on her knees. She patted him on his back and wished she had a stick to poke him with to be sure. Behind him, she noticed something else, a wolf cub apparently.
"Is that your doggie?" she asked excitedly. Oh how she loved animals.
"I wish I had an animal friend, but big sis worries that I'll burn it."
