"The next time I team up with somebody I will make sure they are taller", spoke Gaston as he made his way through the crowd of people. He wondered where Rixsch could be. Gaston was sure he was still in the room. Then again he was trying to exit before Gaston told the story. Could his small friend had walked out in the middle of the celebration. "Hmm", spoke Gaston as he began to rub his chin. He was starting to think that Rixsch did not like all the attention. Thought that was crazy talk. Who would not like being the center of everyone's conversation. Was it not every man's dream to be immortalized in the memories of those around him.
"Then again", spoke Gaston as he rubbed his chin once more. He began to compare himself with Rixsch. "That could be the reason", spoke Gaston aloud as he came to his own personal conclusion. It was now obvious to him. Rixsch was only shy around crows when Gaston was around. It only made sense. How could you compare to perfection. With Gaston in the room there was no way Rixsch could properly shine and thus his reason for leaving. Well that was a swell move. Even if he was not gas good or masculine as Gaston Rixsch still would have taken up some of the glory. To opt out of that Glory and give it all to Gaston, well now he was staring to become a swell guy. However it still was unacceptable. "Every man should enjoy there time in the spot light", spoke Gaston as he began to walk toward the door. He had made up his mind. He was going to help Rixsch enjoy the props of being a hero. It was in that moment that Gaston saw his short friend.
"Ah Rixsch I have been looking for you", spoke Gaston as he walked up to the young swordsmen. The muscle covered archer saw that there was something different about his face. "A penny for your thoughts friend. You seem to be thinking about something."

"See you in a bit then." Rixsch nodded to him and went back inside the tavern. Ace nodded back and watched as the swordsman made his leave. The cavalier went into the satchel that held a small piece of bread. He took it out and began to nibble on it, trying to savor it as much as he could. Soon, the small piece of white bread was gone. He heard Troy give off a snort, showing that he was hungry. Ace chuckled and dove his hand into the satchel once more. He found an apple that appeared to be getting a bit mangy.
"Sorry buddy, but this is all I got. I'll have to go buy some more treats for the both of us,"Ace sighed as he lifted the mangy apple to the horse. Troy slightly ate the horse before finally giving up on it. Troy gave off a slight sigh just as Ace sighed once again. Ace's eyes lit up at the coincidence and laughed. Even through hard times, Troy was able to lift Ace's spirits. What would I do without you, you crazy horse!
In that moment, Ace remembered how Troy was the colt of his mother's horse. Ace's mother helped in Troy's birth and once the young colt was born, the young duo had an inseparable relationship. Ace learned how to ride horseback and how to fight on horseback with Troy. Unbelievably, Ace's best friend was most likely the horse. We will have many adventures to come. However, let's just focus on the one that is to come soon...

"A penny for your thoughts, friend. You seem to be thinking about something." Gaston spoke as he barged through the crowd. Rixsch sighed and muttered "looks like my party grows bigger by the second." He looked at Gaston and smiled "well, you know why we went after those bandits in the first place? Looks like I got a lead. This Ace guy somehow saw the guy that gave me this lead, so, I sort had to let him in on it. He agrees to help me out, I'm guessin' you would as well, you know, so you have another story to tell the ladies." Rixsch pulled the piece of paper and handed it to Gaston. He grunted "the suspense is killing me, what if this genuinely is a way to finally find my parents?" He looked down and smiled "hmph, do you think they would be proud of what their child has become?" He looked around, scanning the inside of the building "heh, guess I'll never forget this place, either." He looked back at Gaston. "Do you reckon I should continue travelling after I find them? Join an army or something?" He realised that the sky was beginning to darken even more. Time was running out, he needed an answer off of Gaston as soon as possible, but how could he speed him up? He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, so Rixsch thought that Gaston would take far too long "uh, Gaston? We sorta need an answer now, it's close to dusk. Oh, I hope we don't miss them..." Rixsch said, beginning to become impatient. He started tapping his foot and swinging his arms.

"Rixsch you are asking stupid questions", spoke Gaston as he looked at the young swordsmen. "Of course you parents will be proud of you if you rescue them. You are not killing peasants and robbing old ladies. Being able to fight is not only a useful skill but a necessary one. Second when you asked about what to do after all this is over, well that is up to how you feel once this is done and over with. Mercenary work is common, but hard. Not only that, but it will also facilitate the breaking down of your moral compass. I have seen one to many men become monsters after taking up the blade for coin. The army is also not much of a difference. You are still killing for coin, but now official coin. Lastly who do you think I am", spoke Gaston as he did his heroic pose. "Of course I am going to come. Gaston does not abandon a friend. It is not only unmanly, but also a insult to my very name.
Gaston handed his small friend by his paper and began to march outside the door. "So do you have any idea if this is legit by the way", spoke Gaston as he began to walk. The archering hero left his own celebration behind. At this point it was starting to get stale. Most of everybody was dinning on meat than singing his name or out right mingling. So much work for such little fireworks. Still the initial explosion was all that Gaston wanted. The next time thought he was going to need to do something more grand. It gets boring just feeding everybody a meal. Maybe he will bring free booze. Oh yeah people loved the booze.
As Gaston walked outside he came up to the man on his horse. It was a bit ironic that Gaston was nearly as tall as the duo and he was standing on the ground. "Pity I can never ride one of those things", spoke Gaston as the thought about horses came to his mind. "I could never find a beast with a strong enough back to support myself. The problem with being as tall and heavy as myself. I tried once as a lad and broke the poor pony's back. After that my mother swore she would never let me ride a horse again. Still I digress. You must be the other Rixsch mentioned. Hmm Ace or Acer I believe."

"I'm sorry that you haven't found a proper horse companion that you can ride on. Horses are truly marvelous animals and riding on one is just spectacular. Anyways, my name is Ace Wilzor, son of Troy Wilzor and Alana Ritz-Wilzor of Ostia." They probably wonder why I give my parents name. I suppose it's just something I grew up knowing to do ever since we inherited slight in Ostia. Aces thoughts suddenly shifted to his dream of helping to rebuild Ostia and the estate where he lived in. It was also the place where his parents died defending in Kraft's assault. Ace came back to the moment seeing the large man still in front of him. "You are indeed quite large. It's amazing how tall you are." Ace looked past Gaston for a moment and saw how it was soon to be dusk.
"Well it was nice meeting you Gaston, but we will have to get to know each other at a later time. Dusk is fast approaching and we don't want to be late for whatever is to come, right Rixsch?" The cavalier turned and looked at the swordsman. Ace could tell in Rixsch's eyes that whatever is happening at dusk is quite important and Ace didn't want to hold him up.
"Well shall we get going guys? We sure don't want to be late!" Ace jumped up onto Troy's saddle and began to stride slowly forward, allowing for the others to take the lead.

"Well it was nice meeting you Gaston, but we will have to get to know each other at a later time. Dusk is fast approaching and we don't want to be late for whatever is to come, right Rixsch?" The cavalier and looked at him. He seemed to be scanning his face, searching for some form of facial expression. "N-no, of course not! Thanks again for helping me like this, it truly means a lot to me."
Ace nodded before saying "Well, shall we get going, guys? We sure don't want to be late!" Before hopping up onto his horse and looking at the muscular giant and I. "We should get going, right..." Rixsch turned around and pointed in the general direction of the village entrance "...onwards and forefront, my good friends!" He sniggered before muttering "I have always wanted to say that." As the three of them travelled down the path, Rixsch turned to Gaston and walked backwards along the path "so, you say many mercenaries you've seen have turned into monsters? Hmm, I can't say I'd be any different, men get desperate. So, maybe I'd turn into a traveller, helping put those in need. A hero of sorts, I guess. I mean, I wouldn't mind leaving my mark on history." He shook his head "nah, my head's getting fogged up with delusions, again. A lot of the time, I'm just doing what I do for my own selfish quest." He thought for a bit before grunting "What d'you both think?"

"A foolish statement once again Rixsch", spoke Gaston with passion. "Every man has the right to aspire to something. As a matter of facts men who don't aspire to something are not even worth being called men! Dreams, desires, ambitions, that is what makes us people! Why you say your dream is foolish you are calling yourself foolish! Always strive for your beliefs. The moment you stop trying is the moment you are dead. If you want to be a hero Rixsch then you become one. You go the extra mile to help people, to solve there problems, and to set things right." The young boy's words upset the giant man for a moment. It was almost as if Rixsch was spitting on his own dreams by spitting on himself. Gaston could not allow that. No one spits on Gaston's dreams and as proxy Rixsch was not allowed to spit on his own dream. At least not in front of Gaston.
"Listen Rixsch let me tell you something and you as well Acer. I, Gaston, which to become immortal. I have no intention of simply existing and fading from this world like a leaf in the wind. However no man can live forever. Even with the power of magic behind him a man will still die one day. However I have found another way to live forever, to place my mark on the world. That way is through legends, tales, and the admiration of others. That is why I do what I do. That is why Gaston becomes the center of attention and shoots his bow. I have a dream, a goal. That goal and dream pushes me forward to do what I do.
Rixsch", shouted Gaston as he turned back toward the young man. "Strive to become a hero. Push for your dream. If you don't you will regret it. However it won't be easy. People will hate you for your dream. People will despise you for your dream. People will get in the way of your dream and sometimes you might even die for your dream. However you only truly live when you strive for your dream. My mother use to tell me as a boy, Gaston aim for the Moon. Even if you miss you will hit the stars. That is how life works. Aim small and miss small!

Ace listened closely to what the large archer was saying. The words coming out of his mouth were well thought out and pristine almost. Is this guy like a therapist or something? He sure got a way with words, even though he keeps calling me Acer... Eh, that's okay. Whatever makes him "float his boat." Ace grinned as Gaston revealed his true motives behind his attention-seeking actions. He had a good goal, one that had a nice reward. A far better reward than any coin. Ace turned to Rixsch and took a deep breath.
"Rixsch, a dream is definitely not a delusion. It is something that creates what many people need, hope. Life is about taking risks and challenging yourself. Try and set a goal for yourself, so that you may push the limits of life. If you want to be a hero, set a goal to try and help at least one person a day. If you want to become someone known in history then take baby steps towards that goal each day until you achieve it. Afterwards, make a new goal that challenges you even further. Having a dream is not bad. Actually, it's one of the best things you can do for yourself. Gaston here has a dream and so do I." Ace looked up for a moment and sighed then begun to continue speaking.
"As I told you in my introduction, I am from Ostia. My parents inherited an estate in Ostia from an old friend. We were given the titles of aristocrats because of our newfound wealth. However, all that was taken away when Kraft came and destroyed Ostia. I was sent to Laus, so that I could be safe. Sadly, my parents died defending Ostia. My goal in life is to one day help restore Ostia to its former glory and help rid those abominations from that land. To one day rebuild that estate and live there once again. To keep my family name alive. My goal is one that will surely be marked in history if it is achieved, but it will be shared with many other brave heroes. So Rixsch, go ahead and take a chance. Do something for the greater good and make this world a better place. Do something good with friends because only together people can make a true impact on the world."

Rixsch listened closely to both of the men's words. It was almost therapeutic to him, how they wanted to stamp out his doubts, even though they barely knew him. He smiled "heh, maybe that was a foolish statement. Maybe I do wanna leave my mark on history. Well, when I finally find them, I'll spread compassion across Elibe, and hopefully change some lives along the way."
He looked up at the sky and smiled wider until he was practically beaming, "you never know, it could be fun!" He walked along, returning back to his normal tendency lose himself to deep thought 'maybe I am thinking too far ahead. Theres no definite answer on even if my parents are ALIVE...'
The three came to the entrance to the village. It was quiet, as there were no houses or building nearby, just a path and a gate "we're here." Rixsch said with clear caution in his voice. He leaned up against the concrete archway around the metal gates "this bloke better get here soon, I hate to be kept waiting." He looked over at his two friends "thanks again for helping if things go awry."

"Actually it is about time I pulled out", spoke Gaston as he looked at his young friend. "Don't worry you two I will be around, but sitting at the gate does not work for me. I am too large and too big to be of any effect. I will find a sport not to far away and keep my bow ready if anything goes wrong." With that Gaston walked away from the group. He knew that somebody was probably watching the location. With Gaston leaving he was sure they would be more confident to do whatever it was they where planning to do. That and Gaston did not want to get into a knife and blade battle with nothing but a bow.
As Gaston parted from the two he took a roundabout route through a few back allies. He then hopped onto a pot and pulled himself utop somebody's roof. Getting a good spot with nobody around Gaston shimmied his way up to the top of the roof and looked over the edge. Here he could not only see what was going on, but also hide himself and his massive body. Though his hiding spot was only truly good for maybe one or two spots, but having a free shot could be the difference between life and death. Gaston had no idea who this shady figure Rixsch spoke to was, but he was sure they could not be trusted. Even if Rixsch trusted them Gaston did not. He was in fact a hunter and traps where part of the trade. This smelled like a trap. Looked like a trap, and Gaston was willing to bet his name that this was indeed a trap. He did not have the heart to tell the boy, but he did not even think his parents where still alive. Bandits are not known for there mercy.
"So lets see what you have planning", spoke Gaston to himself as he watched with the eye of a hawk.

Hm, maybe Gaston is right. What if this shady figure isn't showing because Rixsch has company. Ace wondered if he should give some distance, so that maybe the shady figure would show. The figure may just want to see Rixsch alone. Ace then remembered of the time when he fell into a bandit trap himself along with a fellow young fighter, Lorna. I won't allow Rixsch to fall in a trap just like I did. He needs allies and I'm willing to be there for him. Ace looked to Rixsch and wanted to reassure him that it will be fine.
"Don't begin to worry Rixsch. I will be here for you and I'm sure Gaston won't let even a fly hurt you. Ace chuckled to himself. "He sure seems to have taken a fancy on you. I think he sees you as almost like a younger brother. Ace looked around once again in search for the shady figure. The young cavalier still hasn't found any sign of the strange man he saw earlier in the tavern. "We can do this. I know we can. As long as we fight together then we can achieve victory. If things do start to get a bit out of hand and we need to flee for any reason, just jump onto Troy and we can flee from the scene. I don't like to flee from a fight, but our lives are more important." Troy gave a slight neigh when Ace said his name. The cavalier pet the horse's neck and continued to wait besides Rixsch for what is to come.

"Right." Rixsch said to Ace whilst nodding his head. He looked around for any signs of movement, but his sight was slightly impaired, due to the quickly darkening skies, so he eventually gave up, slumping back onto the archway and letting out a long sigh. "Perhaps I was duped, a mere prank." He sighed again, looking up at the sky. He was beginning to show doubt again, and he knew it.
Suddenly, Rixsch could hear sniggering behind him as a group of about 7 axe-wielding maniacs came out of hiding from begin bushes and rocks and began to surround Ace and I. I drew my sword and looked at each man, trying to size up the strongest from the weakest. "This the guy the boss was after?" One bandit spoke towards his colleagues. "Yeah, I heard them call 'im 'Rixsch', so this must be the guy. Remember, we only get half pay if we being this guy to the boss dead. As for the other guy..." The brigand looked towards Ace and laughed almost maniacally.
"Heh, looks like our suspicions were correct, this is a trap, albeit a small one." Rixsch said in a confident tone, "tell me, who is this boss of yours?" "Haha, client confidentiality." One bandit replied whilst lifting his forefinger to his lips, much like a child. "Hmph, I see. Guess I will have to BEAT the answer out of you." Rixsch said, raising his sword towards the brigand. "Prepare yourself." Rixsch said, running towards the first bandit and jumping off of his torso, sending him stumbling backwards. He straightened his long hair "heh, strange that I was able to send you backwards so easily. Gives me some more space, though. Let's do this, Ace."

"Hmm", spoke Gaston as he saw the axe carrying men move into view. "Oh look Gaston was right", spoke the burly man to himself as he pulled three arrows out his quiver and placed them in his left hand. Standing up Gaston pulled one arrow out of his hand and pulled back on his bow. "I wounder how many times Gaston has been right, oh wait always", spoke Gaston as he took aim. A small bit of pride rose in his chest as he began to take aim. He had maybe three shots before the brigands would figure out where he was. That and he was not sure if the roof he was standing on could hold him for too long. Whoever house this was would probably be angry if he broke it.
"Too far away for a neck shot, but", spoke Gaston as he let loss a arrow. Like a lightning bolt ripping through the heavens Gaston's arrow cut through the air. His aim perfect and his form perfect. With the furry of fire and the speed of tempest Gason's arrow flew past Rixsch head and buried itself inside of the chest of the brigand he had thrown off balance. Gaston was aiming for the center of his chest, but the wind had pulled it off track a bit. Instead the arrow flew to the right and slammed into the peck muscles. The blow was not a instant heart killing shot, but the arrow did puncture the lung. That brigand was as good as done, but it would take a bit. Though Gaston doubted that he would be fighting.
"Alright next shot", spoke Gaston as he pulled back on his bow.
"Hey what are you doing on my roof", shouted a voice from below taking Gaston's eyes off the battlefield.
"What", spoke the man as he turned around to see the owner of the home looking up at him.
"What are you doing on my roof", spoke the man as he looked at GAston. "Is that a bow", he spoke as he saw the weapon in the burly man's hand.
"Of course it is a bow", spoke Gaston as the man started to annoy him. "What else would it be a sword! Look old man I am being Gaston at the moment. I will get off your roof after I have shot two more arrows", spoke the burly man as he turned his eyes back onto the battlefield.

"Prepare yourself." Rixsch said, running towards the first bandit and jumping off of his torso, sending him stumbling backwards. He straightened his long hair "heh, strange that I was able to send you backwards so easily. Gives me some more space, though. Let's do this, Ace."
"To victory!" Ace replied and pulled Troy's reins while quickly unsheathing his sword. The cavalier charged two of the oncoming brigands, which counted to a total of seven it seemed. As Troy galloped in between two of the brigands, the pair begun to try and run off. However, Ace brought his sword out and gave a horizontal slash at the brigand on the right's back. It indeed made contact and the man hollered a yelp of pain, but the wound wasn't very deep. Troy continued to gallop forward until Ace pulled the rainiest the left, so that he could attack the brigand that was beginning to come back to the fight from the left. Ace charged once more, but the brigand was ready for him this time. The cavalier swung his sword vertically down towards the man's head, but the brigand blocked the attack with his axe. The brigand was stronger than Ace and managed to parry Ace. The cavalier lost his composure and suddenly saw the man's axe come straight at him. I can't die like this!
However, Ace noticed that he didn't get wounded. Instead, the man seemed to have miss miraculously and almost hit Troy's rear-end. The horse, out of fear, kicked it's back legs out and managed to hit the brigand in the chest hard. "Nice one Troy!" Ace pulled the reins and had Troy make a complete turn to face the same brigand. Ace charged once more and seemed to notice the brigand was struggling with breathing. This left him vulnerable. Ace prepared his weapon and at the right moment, jabbed the enemy's left side of his chest. Ace quickly unsheathed the weapon from the man's chest and watched as the brigand fell the ground. There goes one. Now where is that one I got in the back. That wound wasn't bad enough to render him useless. Ace looked around at the battlefield and hoped his allies are alright...

THUNK!
An arrow narrowly missed Rixsch's head, hitting the man that he had sent reeling in his chest. 'Nice shot, if a little risky.' He thought before realising that this man wasn't dead. "Hmm, you ain't dead yet, I'll come back to you." He turned towards the brigand's colleagues as Ace galloped off with two of them, the last four looked at Rixsch and begun laughing "that one was the runt, you in real trouble, now, kid."
Rixsch smiled cockily "four against one? That ain't very good sportsmanship." He said before running towards one brigand and jumping upwards before landing on him with a decisive strike, hitting him in the shoulder and cutting downwards. Rixsch then placed a horizontal strike through the bandit's torso, causing fatal injury. He lifted his sword upwards to the other two "now, if you wish to suffer the same fate as your friends..." Rixsch got into a defensive stance with his sword crossing his body "...come at me!"
