"H-HEY!" Jude ripped his arm back and away from Mel as she grabbed it, flustered by the sudden action. He massaged his wrist as if he'd been assaulted, eyeing her cautiously, as if she were a viper about to strike. "Don't touch me, damn it!" His cheeks turned red and he looked away from her, but to Claira, who called over for more drinks. Suddenly Jude was pleased. It was rare that someone simply bought him a drink-- much less without him asking. Normally he had to ask, sometimes beg, when he was light on coins. Of late, he seemed to always be light on coin.
Taking a light sip from his drink, he was pleased with his current situation. He had a day off, and even though Mel had tracked him down with what seemed like little effort, he was in okay enough company, had some ale, and was going to enjoy his time off. Plus, with his leg still in good recovery, it would be a few days still until he was back on his A-game, whatever his A-game actually looked like. Jude still wasn't sure. After the scuffle at the keep, he wasn't as assured of himself as he normally was. Twiddling his thumbs and looking away from the table, Jude sighed.
Suddenly he snapped back into himself as Mel spoke for him. Always angry? Whatever. "Hey, shut up!" He snapped, bringing his face right next to hers. "I'm only ever angry because you... you piss me off so much." He folded his arms again, looking away from her, unconcerned.
Stifling a snort, Jude looked between Mel and Claira, taking happy note of the obvious tension. "Play nice, damn it. She's a, uh... What was it? Oh, a runaway slave. Be nice!" His words seemed sincere, but his tone was unconcerned and his eyes drifted lazily about the room. "Plus--" his mischievous, red eyes hovered back to Mel's steely blue ones. "--she did buy us these drinks. And I--"
The door to the tavern flew open. The same large man in the same cloak came forward, as angry looking as before. Jude sighed, still unconcerned with literally everything going on, and put his feet back on the ground. "Here we go..." He mumbled under his breath.

Looking at Mel, she lifted up an eyebrow. "A nickname that was given to me because of this." Undoing a few of the top buttons to reveal the Raven brand dead center on her torso. When Jude and Mel saw the mark, she buttoned the shirt back up and leaned towards Mel and said in a low voice. "Don't mock things you don't fully understand. I doubt you would have survived the what I..." Claira looked towards Jude, seeing his body posture had changed. From relaxed to tense.
Never a good sign. Sliding her scarf up over half of her face, she looked towards the direction and saw what spooked him. It was Darnix, also known as the man of wrath. Whispering, Claira said. "Now we have a problem. That's Darnix. An Enforcer. Rewarding and Punishing with Pain."
Her eyes watched the heavy Knight walking in and looking around. Since her kicking his knee, he put on his armor and was ready for battle. Two soldier units walked in behind him. Great, now matters went from bad to hellrific in a few short moments. Leaning back into her chair, she reached around to behind her where her dagger rested sheathed to her belt. Hand firmly holding the handle, she looked at the two people before her.

"You're only making yourself easier to mock" Mel yawned, staring in boredom at the girl trowing what she considered a tantrum. She raised her hand, finger pointed and ready to jab into the stupidly named slave's eye. However she turned her head away before she had gotten the chance, attention taken by Jude prickling up like a distressed chicken. It was just like the pink-haired male to steal her fun away before she was satisfied.
She shifted her attention to the large who had burst through the tavern door with a mission, head turning as he examined the huddles of patrons for his prize. He paused when his eyes fell upon Claria, stiffening as his hand rested on the hilt of his sword. The man leaned back and spoke to his two companions, gesturing towards their table.
Mel grumbled softly, cheek puffing full of air as she cast a weary glance to Jude. "You know if you give your new friend back to her owners they'll likely pay us some sort of finders fee. You could could afford a new waistcoat." It was hard to tell just how serious she was with the statement as her expression only betrayed slight disappointment. She was worried for him, if only slightly.
While Mel had no interest in getting involved with a matter that was simply no concern of hers, Jude was another matter entirely. The moron was likely to attempt headbutting a fully armored man. While he certainly didn't need his brain very much and wouldn't lose anything from knocking himself out she... she... Well he could kill himself at some other time. It wasn't any concern of hers.

"Easier to mock my ass, you'd be dead if it weren't for me," he said loosely as he stood slowly to his feet, shifting his feet apart. It was apparent immediately that the three men had a mission, and that they'd come here to claim back their prize. The tavern-goers remained largely unaware, though a few packed their things and left with greater haste than anything Jude had ever seen in his life. Thinking about the brand on the girl's chest, it was likely she'd been a high prize, and had, in all likelihood, been sought after for years. With their prize right in front of their eyes, these men were probably looking for a fight.
Jude put a foot up on his chair and leaned his arm over it, half-defensively, ready to defend whoever needed defending. As if some ugly slavers were going to come in and act like they owned the place. Jude owned the place. He rested his left hand on the group of throwing knives that sat pouched on the inside of his right wrist. If they came much closer, he'd pin one between the eyes, punch the other one, and then... Try to find a way to deal with the armored one...
But that one was ready to fight, too, from the looks of things. Hand on his sword pommel, he approached the table. Jude spit on the ground beside him, marking his territory, glaring angrily at the man approaching him. Despite Jude's supreme height, this man was yet taller. This always happened to him. Regardless of his height, it seemed his enemies were always a step above him... He was angry at the thought, but his fiery red eyes remained fixed on this man, who looked him over with disdain as he spit on the wooden floor.
"No." He said plainly, his intense gaze unwavering. "They're not gettin' her back, fee or not. F-- ACK!" With speed that rivaled that of the Mountain himself, Jude found himself in his most familiar position-- off the ground, being lifted by a meaty hand around his scarf that was still loose around his neck. The man used his other hand to grab Jude's entire chin, let go of the scarf, and tossed him across the room. The pink-haired boy went flying, smashing into two tables, bouncing off the first before crashing into the second, snapping it clean down the middle. Mugs and chairs went everywhere, and Jude's body became wracked with pain.
Clenching his teeth, he tried to pull himself together, but his previously sustained injuries shouted at him. He'd be damned if he let this happen again... He had to get up. But despite all his best efforts, Jude, now across the room, was struggling to stand.

Narrowing her eyes on Mel now, Claira saw that she was going to be a problem. But snapped out of the glare when the man who helped her went flying through the tavern and smashed through a table. Kicking the table into the knight. She jumped off her chair and sprung off the same table. planting. her foot into the knights face, leaping over. Landing behind him, she heard his sword sliding out of the sheath. Bolting forward she felt the tip of the sword slice into her back. The pain made her stagger a bit, but she finally reached Jude.
The three units closed in slightly as she pulled her dagger out. Standing hunched down, she put her body in front of Judes. Claira didn't count on Mel to Help in any way. As one of the soldiers lunged at her with a lance. She spun around the attack, slicing into the man's throat with her dagger. But another pain shot through her calf. Looking down, it was the point to a steel lance. Greeting her teeth, she fully leaned back stabbing the soldier in his right shoulder forcing him to let go of the lance. Yanking the spear and tossing it to the side, her breathing got heavy as she took her stance again. "I won't let you harm him...he's not part of this Wrath."

"Well...that was unexpected" Mel mused with a sarcastic bite, watching as Jude flew through the tavern with a grace that would make a bird blush. It was noted though that Jude didn't throw the first punch, knocked away far before he could even slam his fists against the suit or armor. It was a pain to step in. Seriously why couldn't Jude be a little more careful? This would set them back quite the number of days if he had broken anything important. And she'd have to spend some of her newly hoarded stash of supplies to path him up as well, straining their already empty purses.
Damn it. It was better to step in before he injured himself any further. What a pain. She'd surely find a way to make him pay for it later.
"You won't let them harm him? The reason he's been harmed in the first place is your fault." Mel slipped to her feet and laced her fingers out in front of herself, stretching out her shoulders in preparation. Her expression was cold, eyes focused on the slave standing so uselessly in front of her temporarily incapacitated companion. "Did you think there wouldn't be repercussions to dragging bystanders into your problems? That their blood does not lie on your hands?"
Mel stepped around the little scuffle and headed straight over to Jude, gazing at him with a fleck of annoyance. "We're going off to sleep" she murmured softly to the male. He'd likely yell, complain, and deny any assistance offered, however he certainly didn't have a choice after being slammed across a tavern. No matter how much he would protest otherwise. Carefully she crouched hooked his arm across her shoulders, steadying herself as she assisted him to his feet.
A firm gaze shifted to the main four individuals responsible for her annoyance, taking in the wounds to both sides of the scuffle. She had no reason to assist, no need to stick out her neck to save some stranger in a tavern. The odds were not in her favor against a man in a full suit of armor, and Mel had no interest in challenging them. Without a proper weapon no less.
"Go ahead and take it. It's caused enough trouble as it is." Mel gave a curt nod to the man in the armor and turned away. Carefully she supported Jude, grumbling the names of plants she was going to have to go collect once again under her breath. As much as she played annoyed at his antics and grumbled about having to bandage him up time after time, Jude did made it up to her at the end of the day.
"I suppose we have to take that vacation now."

Finally giving in to his inability to stand, Jude rested his body and reached his dirty hands up to his temples to massage his growing headache. It seemed he couldn't stay out of trouble, no matter how hard he tried. The boy moaned a little, watching through half-shut eyes as the woman began to... Fight? In the middle of a public tavern? The people inside were screaming; most had cleared out, and Jude was sure the town guard would be called soon, if they weren't already on their way. It was rare that anyone was so brash in such a public space. How quaint a place this was... And Jude was sure he would never be back here. Watching through unamused eyes as Mel approached him, Jude only sighed, wondering how he was going to get himself out of this one.
He did note, though, that the girl had sustained some injuries but was still standing. He raised an eyebrow, impressed. She was full of metal, that one. It was no easy feat to sustain the kinds of blows she had... She was surely on her last leg, defending a complete stranger. Jude tried to push the conflicted thoughts out of his head as he wondered whether he ought to help her or not... But then, if he lent a hand, it was likely he'd get roped up in whatever nonsense he was witnessing. He sighed, allowing Mel to take control of his body enough to hoist him up. It was strange, with her being so short, and he so tall. Jude looked down at her, angry, but underneath the outer layers, thankful.
"I can handle myself." He lied, nearly whispering as he hissed under his breath. "I don't need... crutches..." He tried to push Mel off of him, but then found his leg strength had failed him. He reopened the wound on his leg, falling down near the door. He reached a hand quickly up to the end of Mel's shirt to stable himself at the last second, gritting his teeth heavily as he tried to manage the pain that was now across his entire body. "Gods... I need a nap."
As if on cue, the town guard quickly burst through the door. Three armored men with insignias blazoned on their chests stood with lances at the ready. Yep, someone had called the town guard. Jude sighed, looking down and away from them. "WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?"

Hearing Mel's voice and what she said began to annoy her. Reaching into her one pocket, she pulled out a bottle of Vul. and poured some to her wounds leaving half a bottle. Claira tossed the bottle to Jude when he was somewhat on his feet. Looking back at Wrath and his soldier, she began to speak. "Mel, you accuse others so you don't feel bad. Even if your companion helped me out of pure kindness. Is it maybe your afraid he will leave you because of your bitterness to a person who's sacrificed their own body to save him? He stood up for me when he didn't have to. You said you'd rather be named after a plant? Fine..your A weed. Because you are useless. You don't stand up with or for your friend, yet you find a reason to whine like the child that you are. Now do everyone a favor and crawl back to the rock you grew up from, Weed."
As the town guard marched in, Wrath laughed out loud. "Nice speech Raven. Maybe we still have use for your killing ways that we trained you for. And maybe we can use that Little girl too. She can be a mouse or even an owl." He began to laugh again. Looking at the guard, he heavies the heavy blade and impaled the one guard. He slid out his Steel lance.
The last soldier under Wraths command grabbed his dead comrades iron lance. With small shield and lance ready, he charged at the remaining two town guards pushing them back through the door. "Jude...I'm sorry you were dragged into my life. It makes me happy that there is still kind people out in the world willing to help others when they aren't asked. You two can escape from the way we came in. I'll keep wrath busy so you two don't have the same fate as me when I was 12...good luck..friend"
Looking back at Wrath she charged at him full Sprint. As he lunged his lance forward, she fell to the ground skidding on her knees going under him. While skidding, she slashed at the open joint of his right knee causing him to fall. Backing away from him, she bought them their time needed.

Mel was utterly unconcerned about the individuals still brawling it out in the bar. She had better things to do, like awkwardly assist a certain hothead back to his feet. His face was pale, gaze unfocused, and if she was a betting woman she would put money down on at least one of his ribs having cracked. The male was beaten up from his unfortunate flight, and the sooner they headed off to an inn the sooner she could get a good enough look at just how severe his injuries were.
She allowed him to lean on her for support, an odd shuffle to her step because of the lopsided distribution of weight. His height made it almost comical, the silver haired teen barely brushing his shoulder even when he was slumped against her side. They were certainly a memorable duo, a heavily injured male being hauled around by a girl who could easily pass for a child. If it wasn't for the tense pain in her back from acting as a human crutch she might have cracked a smile at the thought.
As the exited the tavern five fully armed men of the town watch burst past them in a hurry to restore order in the face of what they had assumed was a brawl gone wrong. Their shouts of surprise and horror at the bloody scene they were met with carried out into the street. The few frightened patrons who had previously been cowering outside suddenly drummed up a little courage at the appearance of their protectors, filing in behind the armored men to see the bloodstained scene.
"If you could hold off on napping for a few more minutes you won't end up face first into the cobblestones. All we need is an inn so you can sleep off your stupid." Mel puffed out a cheek and blew lightly onto Jude's cheek. attempting to keep track of just how conscious he was. "Be a little more careful next time. You're useless to me when you break yourself...." She turned away, examining the stones with disinterest as a gentle flush rose in her cheeks. "There should be an inn close enough."

As the town guard filled the bar, hopefully to deal with the mess that had been left in their wake, Jude forced himself back on his feet. He sighed heavily, as if the effort was in keeping himself awake, and not on the almost overbearing pain. At this point, the pink-haired boy was ready to retire. He'd seen enough for the day, had dealt with enough, and was ready for the longest sleep of his life. Sure, they had work ahead of them, but it could wait. The day off was still currently going on, and he'd still have time to prepare and pull himself together, bandage his wounds, and recover a bit before heading out.
Looking over to this Claira that he'd met, he was surprised she was still alive. Enough stupid decisions could get her killed, and he sighed again as he thought about her fate under slavery. With the town guard here, she could in all likelihood stay out of that realm, and for once in his life, he was thankful for governmental intervention. It could have, in this case, saved a life, if these slavers didn't destroy everything in the room first.
Jude's cheeks went red as Mel blew on them, and he half-heartedly pushed her away as he stood fully again, the blood still dripping down his leg. It had by now stained his face; he had wiped enough off with his hands that Jude looked a real mess. He very likely wouldn't have one, but he needed a bath. But there were no rivers nearby... And they needed an inn. "I'm fine, I'm fine, let's just... I need some sleep." He said somberly, unlike many of his other emphatic statements.
"Let's go." Jude looked back one last time at Claira and hoped that, for her sake, she found a way out of that mess. [exit]

Watching the two leave made her smile a bit, but felt sad that Jude didn't say anything to her. Just telling Weed to go. So she made her leave as well. Running for the storage room, she opened it, slid in and shut it behind her. Taking out out her picks, she worked on the door and locked it as fast as she could. Wrath was up again because she heard his heavy foot step and the drag of his right foot. He was coming for her. Crawling quickly to the back door, Claira began to unlock it. Jumping when she heard his lance hitting the door to get her.
Focus Claira. Focus! She thought to herself. Working on the lock again, then the click was heard. Standing up and opening it. She heard the lance break through the door and saw his face looking at her. Giving him a quick smile, she stepped out and shut the door. Running right, her mind was now set. She was heading for Bern.
