Name: Fleur
Tribe: Rabbit Taguel
Age: 27
Born in- The Forests of the Island
Skills- Blessing (master), Regenerator (Advanced), Tomes (basic)
Appearance: Fleur in human form is a tall woman roughly about 6’ not counting her ears. She has a body type that could be described as a hybrid between a curvy amazon and an olympic runner. Perhaps to an outsider she would be described as sexy fit. However she simply describes herself as healthy. It is common for taguel of her clan to be decently built.
She has a dark complexion that one could describe it to be the color of cocoa powder or a dark tan. She has large rabbit ears that stick up on her head. These ears are also cocoa powder color and have three prongs on their tips in the shape of a w. These tips are a darker brown/black like color. This is due to the fact that those tips are covered by a fine layer of her rabbit hair. Two earrings are on her left ear. Her “head hair” is a whitish silver like color. That reaches down to her knees. This head hair is often divided out into two low hanging pigtails that fall across her back. She she has bangs that are parted down the middle that reach up to her chin. Her hair is kept neat. Or rather her hair is kept neat at it’s bare minimum. She does not fuss around with it too much and usually brushes out the tangles once every few days. Despite this minimum treatment, that head hair is often very plush and soft.
Her face lacks a majority of the defining veins or face lines that are usually associated with her race. While this phenomenon is uncommon among the rabbit taguel it is not unheard of. But rather she has very distinct hands and feet. Her hands are not so different from the average human with the exception of her fingernails The fingers are long and slender roughly about .5-1 inches longer than the average human. Her fingernails although average, they toppled with the semi-disproportionate fingers give her fingertips a rather pointed-claw like look. Her hands although strange looking do not hinder her in any way.
Fleur’s feet and arms are different than that of a human. They do not share the same disproportion as her fingers do, at least when it comes to length. She quite literally has rabbit feet.. for feet. Or at least she has the paw shape of a rabbit’s foot as human feet. These feet have little toes that appear to be claw like. They even have accompanying nails that curve inwards. As a result of these feet she wears custom shoes that are made out of forest material or no shoes at all. Occasionally brown fur will grow on the anterior side of her wrist, and ankles. These are usually shaved off at Fleur’s preference.
These strange hands and feet, which are common to her race allow her to climb, jump, and sprint through the forest and rocky terrain of the mountains with ease.
Her arms, and left leg, are adorned with tribal markings in white-translucent like paint. These markings symbolize her status among the warren and to which family she is part of. The warren she comes from is a shared communal warren with several other taguel tribes.
Her clothes.. or rather lack of clothes is fairly obvious to outsiders. But incredibly common to other rabbits off her warren. Her skirt consists of two pieces of cloth tied together at the hip. This green skirt reaches down to her ankles. The sides of the skirt are free pretty much exposing all of her leg, as well as her tribal markings. The skirt also hides her tail. Which is a small nub of tail. Similar to that of a jack rabbit. It is the same color as the tip/prongs of her ears. Her top is another piece of green cloth that is tied in a manner similar to a tube top. Sometimes it is wrapped to give her some sort of strap around her shoulder. Underneath the top would be her bare chest, which is covered in a fine layer of soft plushy fur and effectively censors out any “indecency”. While odd, this actually serves a purpose for females. It provides a soft, warm, inviting surface to encourage babies to suckle. It also keeps her chest warm. Occasionally, some tufts of the plush fur can be sticking out in between the gaps of her “shirt”. In combat, she has a simple leather guard which covers her chest. She also wears leggings made of leather to protect her shins. On her hands she wears fingerless gloves that go up to just past her wrist. These gloves are tied to her hands via a loose red silk cloth. Her feet have a similar setup. Though they lack the same red tie cloth as her hands. She wears light sandals which protect her feet from the things on the forest floor.
She wears some jewelry. A small choker made of gold and adorned with bird feathers. And a small plain anklet is worn on her right leg. She carries with her a small satchel bag which holds her tome, a canteen, and some medicinal salve. A knife made of bone is usual seen sheathed away on her vest.
Her transformed form is that of a giant brown rabbit. Her paws and feet fur are white. Her eyes glow a soft red color when in this transformed state. In her shifted form she fights using a series of scratches, bites, and kicks. There had been many a taguel who see her as weak only to be on the receiving end of one of her rabbit kicks. And have often walked away with a broken jaw or leg.
Her human form, takes advantage of the magic she uses. Barring that she is capable of boxing or kickboxing. While these hits aren't exactly strong they are very fast and often take opponents off guard.
Personality: Fleur’s personality differs depending on who’s she with. When she is among her family, good friends, or other members of her warren her personality is warm. The warren describes her as the responsible big sister that everyone seems to like. Except when she is with her parents, who like to tease, and chide her until she’s embarrassed.
However outside of that environment she is a bit stoic. She talks only when necessary, such as to address something serious, or if she is answering questions. She does not lie and her words sometime come off as harsh.
If she is speaking to a friend or trusted comrade not from her warren, hints of that warmth she shares with her family peek through her stoic demeanor.
Unlike some of the other tribes she is not quick to anger. She takes a calm, cautious, patient approach to things. In disputes between tribes she will take the role of a mediator.
Story:
Fleur’s warren is located deep in the woods towards the center of the island. Her warren is very large considering the lifespans and way of life of the taguel. The warren itself or the dens are located underground, deep below the tree roots and protected by the earth. In a small corner of the warren, a young couple of Rabbit taguel had agreed to be mates for life. After a brief ceremony, the pair was given leave to create a branch of the warren to use for their den. After creating a proper den for themselves the pair settled down and started a family. Fleur was the first child born out of that union. She was born in the middle of June and introduced to the rest of the family in July. Growing up in the warren surrounded by members of her family and extended family was busy but fun. As with a large warren such as this deaths were common. These deaths were due to illness, old age, or predators. Death was just a simple fact of life that Fleur eventually internalized and dealt with.
Roughly about every 2-3 years Fleur’s mother would give birth to Fleur’s new sibling. Fleur being the eldest of the expanding family she was taught how to care and tend to the affairs of the den. There was always something to do in the warren. Whether it was digging out through the earth to make new rooms, caring for the warren’s underground farm of plants, foraging for food, sentry duty, reinforcing the den walls, digging out escape tunnels, making cloth out of plant fibers, making ropes, making furniture..ect. Fleur was always exposed to doing work to help care for the others of the den. Crops and herbs grown in the underground farm were divided among the warren and then the rest was sold or bartered to other tribes.
Fleur showed an affinity for growing and tending to the plants. So her family would expose her scrolls or wall carvings on the subject. And for 15 years of her life this life among her family was the norm. Her mother wished for their eldest to settle down and find a mate of her own. As was the case with most of the female rabbits of her den. While she loved and honored her mother, Fleur did not seem to want that sort of life just yet. Any eligible bachelors that were among her tribe she simply did not see them as husbands. She simply saw them as family. Fleur’s parents accepted that from her, but they also knew that she was young, and eventually the urge to mother would come to her in time.
Her life among the warren changed when she was 17. One day while she and a small group of her tribe were out foraging in the woods they were ambushed by a Gilywig. The monster appeared to be half starved and injured. Possibly an old alpha that was stripped of its rank and pack in a fight with another gyliwig. Unknown to the group at the time, the creature was already being chased by a few members of the Thousand Scales. Out of desperation the creature ran into and attacked the foraging party. Fleur ordered her siblings to flee, while she distracted it.
She fought hard in both forms in order to keep the creature’s attention on her. She escaped injury simply due to her speed and the fact that the gyliwig in it’s state was unable to keep up. And eventually the members of the Thousand Scales who were following the creature caught up with her and put an end to the creature. The leader of the group, a member of the bird tribes, saw potential in Fleur. The bird taguel mentioned the Thousand Scales and spoke that they were looking for new members. And with that they left. Fleur returned to her den exhausted but unharmed. She told her family about what happened and retired to her bed. A few days later she found herself unable to focus on her day to day routine. She found herself thinking about the Thousand Scales and of the bird. Up until this point she knew of the Thousand Scales as like the border guards of the tribes. Which was a strange concept to her, as most of her life was lived in relative safety among the dens. Disputes among the warren were rare.. and disputes with other tribes was even rarer. And even then those disputes were fought with words.. and ended peacefully… Usually. She recalled one incident where a rabbit died in confrontation with another clan.
Unable to shake those lingering thoughts, she decided to head to the nearest “village” of other taguel to gain some info on the Thousand Scales. She was given some basic information and told to think about it. The bear laguz who spoke to her said that it wasn’t uncommon for newcomers to join, realize they hate it, and quit. She returned to her den and discussed the issue with her immediate family. Which at this point consisted her mother, father, and six siblings. Technically, seven as her mother was expecting another child. Her mother was against it, her brothers were for it, her twin baby sisters were too young to understand the question, and her father was undecided. Eventually, her father sat her down and they had a long conversation. With her mind made up and with the support of her father she left her warren to join the Thousand Scales.
Rabbits as a whole were uncommon among the Thousand Scales. She was slow to make friends and so the deaths of her comrades didn’t phase her. While she didn't like the initial experience of the Scales, she didn't necessarily hate it either. Her life among the Thousand Scales was different then her life in the warren. The constant exposure to danger was thrilling and exhausting. She started to warm up to the continuous survivors of the various jobs. She was not a strong fighter so she earned her keep among the Scales as either a scout, messenger, hunter, gatherer..ect. She had to rely on some of the more beefy or magically adept taguel to fight for her. Her role in combat was to act like a lure. She would antagonize or annoy the target enough for the other’s to cripple or kill easier.
As she warmed up to her comrades she started to see them as family. And thus her instinct to keep them safe like her warren started to kick in. She opted to gain knowledge on healing arts. Her basic skill started with healing the minor wounds of her comrades. This was done both spiritually and physically. Her prior knowledge of plants allowed her to make effective healing salves to be distributed among her group. And eventually she learned to heal her own wounds as well.
Slowly, but surely she started to rise among the ranks due to her skills as a supportive unit rather than a fighter. The number of jobs she was put on started to increase. She did not feel like dead/easily replaceable weight among her peers. She received plenty of exposure to different clans. She traveled to various parts of the isle that she would have not seen if she had stayed in her communal den. She met a few arbiters.
At 22 she lost a member of her initial “Scales family”. A member of the hawk clan who called himself Red. As a memento she took some feathers and added it to her choker. The red silken bandana's like thing she wears were also symbolic of Red. She redoubled her efforts and training on healing arts as a means to cope and gained mastery over her blessing skill.
In order to further aid her team, Fleur took up magic. She opted to learn the basics of anima magic simply due to its versatility. Fire could be used to light torches, to blind the eyes… Lightning to stun the limbs.. wind to kick up dirt and dust to provide a smokescreen… Little things that would help the team breathe a bit easier.
Now strangers had arrived from a distant land. They had disrupted the natural order of the island with their presence. Her instincts tell her not to trust them. However, if her superiors say that she must meet them then she will.
