Viola flew threw the freezing night skies of Ilia. She had been here a few times before. Of course that was with her adopted merchant family. Now she flies alone, well not completely alone since she was with Anima, her pegasus. Anima felt right at home in the cold skies of the frozen north. This is where he lived before meeting Viola after all.
Viola had heard of the rebellion of Bern against Ilia. She wanted to go there anyways to maybe find any surviving members of her caravan family. "Come one Anima, let's find a place to stay for the night." Anima neighed in agreement. They neared a town as they descended in altitude.
The town was small. Viola could see only one guard at the main gate. She dismounted Anima and the pair walked through the main gate into the town. She thought that the guard might tell her to stable Animma, but he did not pay her much heed other then a glance and a nod of welcome. The young squire had returned a smile as she had walked by him.
Viola walked down the main street of the town. Some people talked about the rebellion, some the events of Etruria, and some about the recent siege on the City of Heroes in Sacae. Most of it was light conversation. They did not seem too interested in wars here. She figured since no war was here at their doorstep, they just lived on.
Viola eventually came to a tavern called the Silver Pegasus. Her caravan had came here every time they visited Ilia, they had told her. She had been here on the two times she had been with the caravan in Ilia. She hoped the bartender might recognize her. She walked up to and sat at the bar.
The bartender took notice and walked over. "Hello, lass, might I get you a glass of milk or perhaps some Hot chocolate to ward off the cold."
"Some Hot chocolate would be nice," Viola replied. "Uhm, have you seen the Verran Caravan recently?" She was sure the bartender would know the name.
"Verran? Haven't seen 'em this year. Usually here about this time, you know them?" The bartender replied casually as he made some hot chocolate. He turned around to Viola with a mug of hot chocolate with a wondering gaze. "Hmm, you look familiar, are you from that caravan?"
"yes, I am Viola, remember? You only met me on the last two trips here though." viola explained. "I got seperated from the caravan ina bandit attack in sacae, I... I don't know if..." Viola could not continue the sentence without tearing up.
"Awe, right, Viola. Now don't you worry, lass," The bartender assured the squire. "I know that caravan well enough. They're hrdy people. They might ge beaten down, but they won't die that easily. How about you take a free room for the night. My treat."
"Th-thank you, sir. I'll take you up on that offer." Viola bowed and placed a few pieces of gold down for her drink. "if there is anything I can do to help around here, I would be glad to for your help."
"Don't worry it's a gift in honor of your caravan. I know you'll find them," The bartender started wiping the counter.
Viola curtsied in thanks and walked to her room. She set the half finished mug down on a bed stand and laid down. "I- I hope he's right," She fell into a deep restful sleep.

Mattew after quite a journey, walked aimlessly into a small Town in Ilia. People talked of recent news as of these days. Such a constant static of casual talk drove Mattew to seek some alone time. Mattew origenally went searching for a mercenary job or a little work anywhere in the town but spotted "The Silver Pegasus", a tavern, along his trip Mattew stopped in and sat at the bar, ready for a drink. Mattew talked to the bartender who seemed very knowledgeable, not to mention appeared to have seen a great many things and people. The man told Mattew about some odd happenings in the area and said not to trust anyone around there but Mattew didn't pay much mind. Mattew paid for his room but just as he began to head towards the steps to the rooms a woman with long green hair and an outfit of a Pegasi rider stepped into the bar. She went to the bartender and began their own chat of types. Mattew moved to the closest pool table and brought a chair over as well. He sat down looking at her attempting to listen in on finally a conversation with flavour. "Huh, searching for some people she said... Wonder if she wants to make a bet." She got up shedding some tears after her talk with the bartender and went to the rooms. Mattew followed her afterward and went to the room he had previously paid for. "Didn't catch her name, but no matter. I'm not much for anymore of static talk in the crowds. I'll get up early and hang around the bar, hopefully I could see where my job is going."

Viola slept quite soundly that night. In the morning, she awoke quite early. She walked downstairs to the bar area to speak with the barkeep again. "Sir, do you have any jobs or know of any jobs that I might be bale to do? I am in need of some gold and really just something to do."
The bartender scratched his beard. "Hmm, a young lass like yourself should not really be working in a tavern, and the other shops probably won't need any extra hands at this time of year. If you have skill with a lance and that pegasus then maybe a mercenary group or even a solo mercenary would like to have you as ascout for a while."
"A mercenary..." Viola thought a loud, " I suppose I could give it a shot after all, Anima is the fastest pegasus out there!" Viola beamed as she spoke of her faithful companion and friend.
Viola walked out of the tavern and walked around town with Anima. "It probably would have helped if I had asked about where the local mercenary companies were..." Anima neighed in disappointed agreement. "Don't worry, Anima, we'll find something to do."
Viola had spent the day running small errands for small family owned shops. She had made a total of sixteen gold today. "Oh well, it's enough for a meal and it's not like we're broke," Viola said as she walked anima to the back of the tavern. She then entered the side door and sat at a booth. After a few minutes, a plate was set down in front of her. Only the did she realize she had fallen asleep. She looked up at the barkeep who was the one who placed the plate in front of her.
"You need to eat up, lass. Keep up your strength for tomorrow. I'm sure you'll be busy and find work as well." The barkeep said as Viola wiped sleep from her eyes. On the plate in front of her was homemade meatloaf and mashed potatoes.
"Thank you sir," Viola said as she picked up her knife and fork. "Mmm, delicious~!"
"Glad you like it, dear, and by the way, the name's Lorenzo," the bartender said with a warm smile.
Viola giggled a bit, "Sorry, it's just that I've met you twice before, but never knew your name."
"Bwa ha ha!" Lorenzo bellowed out. "I get used to people just calling me sir or something, but it is nice to be called by my name sometimes, so I tell my frequent customers to use my name."
"Alright, I'll do so, Lorenzo," Viola replied witha bright smile before returning to her mealand Lorenzo walked back to the bar.

Mattew got up as early as his body could manage, sending himself downstairs, still half paralyzed with sleep he had just awoken from. "Now where the he-" Mattew wasn't even able to finish his own sentence before he caught the green glimmer of the woman's hair as she finished her conversation with the bartender and ran out the door. "She sounds much happier today doesn't she?" Mattew said to the bartender with a smile. "She does but what business do you have with her then? Mind we don't take to stalkers around here boy," The bartender replied with a tone of both curiosity as well as a stern look. "She said she was searching for a 'caravan' yesterday? I'm sorry but I just overheard and I'm quite the people searcher," Mattew stated in pure innocence. "That as well as mercenary work isn't for a gentle pegasi rider like herself wouldn't you think?" The bartender looked up from his glasses and looked Mattew dead in the eyes. "She's the strongest of that there pack boy, I wouldn't doubt her myself if I were you." The bartender went back to work. "Right... Either way, I'd like to meet her myself and see if I could sign myself up, or at least meet the woman. Here," Mattew slams a couple of coins on the table. "When she returns from what sounds like, going to be a hard day of mercenary work, give her your finest meatloaf. On the house, I'd like to make a different approach to the meeting." The whole day along Mattew watched as she ran from house to house, getting and doing work for what seemed like everyone in town. Mattew on the other hand only visited the blacksmith, to sharpen his large sword. After the day seemed done and dusk began to set in, Mattew went back to the tavern where he saw the girl of the hour, meatloaf in front of her. After her chat with the bartender, Mattew swooped in and sat across from her. "I heard you've got a missing persons, not to mention working yourself to the bone."

Viola was enjoying her meatloaf and was half done when a blond youth slid into the bench across from her. "H-hello, uhm yes, I suppose, but how did you know that? What business do you have with me?" Viola was an optimist and the person did not look to have ill intent.
Lorenzo was back at the bar tending to some other guests, but he kept an eye on the two witha glance in their direction every once in a while.
All of a sudden, the doors to the tavern burst open. in walked three large muscular, unshaven men. Two of them had axes and one had a Large sword. The one with the sword spoke up. "I'm looking for a green haired pegasus rider! She was involved with killing one of my men. You people all fear the Shuzra Bandits so if you don't want to have this town burned down, hand her over!"
Viola sank down into her booth at the mention of green hair. They must be with the bandits who attacked her caravan just like that bandit she and Claira had killed in Bern. How did they track her this far north? Viola heard abooming voice respond. She recognized it as Lorenzo. "We ain't seen no one with a pegasus around this town. Most of them were conscripted by the government for their war with Bern. So why don't you and your gang take a long walk off a short cliff." He was now holding a large battleaxe on his shoulder. "I'll have you know, I once was called Lorenzo the Bear!"

Mattew began to open his mouth to respond to Viola when the doors burst wide open, directing attention from everyone in the tavern. "I'm looking for a green haired pegasus rider! She was involved with killing one of my men. You people all fear the Shuzra Bandits so if you don't want to have this town burned down, hand her over!" The three men dressed entirely as savages, appearing to any man as common bandits. Mattew instantly knew which unlucky little lady the bandits were looking for. "Viola, you alright?" Mattew whispered. Mattew could tell she was not feeling safe whatsoever as she sank into her seat. "Here," Mattew slid his brown cape off his head and threw it atop Viola's. "Put it on your head if you want to keep out of sight. I apologize if it's smell is too strong; Spilled the spices this morning." Mattew had gotten up and wanted to freshen up before a confrontation with someone who looked to be his future boss, and when going to add a slight hint of mint to his cape, he spilled the jug a bit and got much more than he expected on it. Mattew assured Viola: "They won't find you don't worry, just think about my offer. Don't question why I knew of your circumstances." Mattew walked up behind Lorenzo after Lorenzo's revealing of an extremely strong identity. The bandits all seemed a little frightened, but the two axe-men were most affected, as the swordsman tried to remain un-phased. "Nice to finally know your name Lorenzo! And quite the title with it hm?" Mattew stood tall behind Lorenzo and looked at the bandits. "There isn't a lady in the tavern as we speak so you have no business here. Go out and learn some manners after you leave the door." The bandits attempted to convince the sword wielder that they should leave but he denied the request. "How about you all just give up now then? Hah! An axe bartender! And how about you show me what you've got kid!" The sword wielder yelled echoing through the tavern.

Viola nodded and straightened the cap on her head. It smelled strongly of Mint which was actually refreshing since she loved the smell of mint. It aided in calming her down. She watched as the youth joined Lorenzo stnding up for her. 'Why would some stranger help me? Is this how Claira felt? Pursued by slavers and not expecting help or simple courtesies from anyone?' Viola's thoughts raced through her head. Lorenzo cocked an eye at Matthew, "Eh, Let's see if you got some decent skill with a blade lad, cause looks like we need to show them the door." he reached back over his shoulder and grasped a bottle half full of Ale and chucked it at the closest bandit. the brute easily blocked it with his axe, but when he brought his axe down from his face, Lorenzo was up and over the counter charging at him. The great battle axe came down and crushed the man'd left shoulder. the bandit cried out in pain. "Bwa ha ha! Is that all you got, Shuzra bandits?!" "No one mocks the name of Shuzra!? I Shuzra leader of the Shuzra bandits will cut you down, old man!" The guy with the sword yelled out. He jumped forward and brought his blade down at Lorenzo who clashed with him with his axe. The other bandit walked towards Matthew as a thief crept up on Matthew from behind. Viola tied her hair up and hid it under the cap and her own hood. She peered around the edge of the booth and watched as Lorenzo and Shuzra were locked in combat. She saw the thief behind the blond youth. She wanted to call out, but that would alert the bandits to her presence. then again, she could not live with herself if someone who was helping her got hurt or even killed because she held back information. "..." She then realized she did not know his name yet. How was she to get his attention. She did not want to distract Lorenzo. "Hey, Mint guy, behind you!" Shuzra glanced at the source of the feminine voice as did Lorenzo. he could not see green hair though. Lorenzo pushed hard against his opponent, "Pay attention, fool. I'm your opponent. I won't be taken lightly, and just who were you calling OLD?!" With that last bit, he shoved Shuzra into a wall and slammed his axe down. Shuzra dodged rolled out of the way and sprung back up ready for more. [Allies: Matthew, Viola, Lorenzo (Berserker) VS. Mattew thought about Viola's state of mind. People hunting you down must be incredibly nerve wrecking. It must be painful to travel through the land searching for someone who must be important to you, without any form of a friend or trustworthy partner. Although Mattew lived a long time not trusting many of those around him, having people in general around you helps to calm the nerves when thinking of how alone he truly felt. Hopefully Viola won't deny the job request even after this fighting. Mattew found himself at a commitment to find whoever Viola was searching for at this point. Although this state of mind Mattew grinned seeing as Lorenzo made the first brigand drop to the floor. As Lorenzo underwent his duel with The Swordsman, Mattew found himself in the sights of the other bandit, walking slowly towards him, axe in hand and face covered in barbaric savagery as expected of bandits. "You know," Mattew stuck his hand in his jacket, gripping his weapon's handle yet not revealing it and walking slowly backward. "It's not polite to ever treat women lik-" "Hey Mint man!" Viola yelled out to Mattew. Mattew looked in her direction catching glimpse of the thief behind him. "Idiot." Mattew pulled the sword seemingly bigger than him worthy of a grand armor knight or some sort of heavy weight, out of his coat, swinging it and slamming the thief behind him against the wall instantly knocking the poor thief out of consciousness. "Woah there be careful with that in here!" Lorenzo yelled to Mattew, then sending his opponent to the ground himself. Lorenzo appeared to be winning his fight significantly, proving his title of the bear as Mattew swung his sword up again, and quickly placing it half in it's sheath again, still holding the handle. The other bandit continued his barbaric attack toward Mattew. "Woah!" Mattew shifted to the left still being hit slightly on the shoulder by the bandit's charge.

Viola sighed as she saw Matthew knock out the thief sneaking up on him. "Eek!" She screeched as the bandit who had one arm just hanging limply as his shoulder bled profusely reached out to grab her. She kicked the injured bandit in the face and reached for her lance in the booth. The bandit yanked her leg pulling her from within reach of the lance just propped up in the corner of the booth. She kicked him again and this time grabbed the lance. She turned around and revealed her lance to the man who let go of her leg and tried to reach for his discarded axe. Viola just stabbed the man in the back. He stopped moving. She looked up at the fight Lorenzo was in. He had just knocked back Shuzra back a again.
"Curs- wait what was that..." Shuzra glanced over at Viola as she stabbed the already half dead bandit. his eyes grew wide. "So, you did have her here. You deceptive old coot."
Viola noticed Shuzra was looking at here. It was then she realized that in her struggle with the bandit, her hood and the minty hat came off revealing her long green hair.
The bandit who was going towards Matthew changed directions and jumped Lorenzo during the distraction. Shuzra took this chance to charge at Viola. "You're mine now, girly!"
Viola threw her half finished meatloaf plate at Shuzra and turned to run down the hall. The bandit leader smashed the plated dinner into a hundred pieces and chased after her.
Lorenzo had slammed the bandit on his back into the wall multiple times until he fell off. the bandit was out cold so the berserker gave chase to the bandit leader. .
Viola ran into the kitchen and ducked behind a large sink. In her haste, she had left her lance in the back of that bandit she stabbed. She grabbed a rather large Kitchen knife for whatever worth it might prove to her defense. She quieted her breathing just enough by the time Shuzra kicked the kitchen door in.
"I know you're in here, lass! Just come one out, you won't die. I'll just sell you to the highest bidder. A fitting punishment for what you did to two of my men. Slavery is merciful. You should be glad I don't kill you now!"
Viola shuttered at the thought of slavery. She did not want to be a slave or to die. Lorenzo called back to Matthew, "Hey, you check the kitchen, boy. I'll check the halls and rooms."

Mattew regained his posture in time to aid Lorenzo in the chase down the hall. "Do be careful boy, don't get yourself harmed." Lorenzo stated as the two ran down the hall in chase. Mattew's fury boiled as he ran down the hall thinking of how the bandits intend to treat the innocent woman. It didn't matter who Viola is, or whatever she may have done in the past, but She was obviously the one being attacked and Mattew will not stand for such treatment of any woman. Mattew's eyes began glowing a reddish color as he replied to Lorenzo. "He's already dead." Lorenzo agreed with a head nod as they came to the staircase. "You check the kitchen boy." Mattew ran towards the kitchen door to hear the last of the bandits words to Viola, threatening her with slavery in her future. "God, shut up." Mattew said as he pushed the door open. "Bahahahaha! Here to get hit around by someone with an arm this time kid?" The bandit leader laughed staring at Mattew. "Nope, I think a little hitting around someone else might teach a bandit some manners." Mattew quickly unsheathes and sent his sword at the bandits left arm, forcing the bandit to dodge the great sword by moving to the side. Mattew quickly removed the sword from the wall and swung again at the bandit's left flank. "Argh!" Mattew and the Bandit clashed, the bandit blocking Mattew's last attack with his axe. The bandit continued to laugh as the two clashed weapons. "Such an idiot." Mattew's arm pulses with a blood red aura to it, releasing grip of his weapon and sweeping the bandit to the ground, sending both their weapons away from the duel. Mattew could only avoid the brute's large fists as they scuffled on the ground. Mattew grabbed the bandit's neck as they rolled next to a large sink. Out of the corner of Mattew's eye he saw Viola in the darkness of the sink. "Vio-" The brute grabbed Mattew by the neck pinning him to the ground. "Bahahaha! Give up kid!"

Viola watched as Matthew and Shuzra wrestled on the floor. Several pots and pans fell to the floor as tables were bumped. She saw matthew look over at her right before the huge brute pinned him to teh ground by the throat. "Bahahaha! Give up kid!" Shuzra bellowed.
Viola looked at the bandit who had not noticed her yet. She looked down at teh knife in her hands. Sure she had killed wolves before, and those two bandits. This was different. She would be killing someone who was not directly attacking her. Sure he was ultimately after her, but his back was turned. Wouldn't she just be like him if she stabbed him now? But the youth wo was fighting to save her was currently being choked to death. She closed her eyes and reopened them with a determined expression. She got on her haunches and pushed off to stab at the distracted man's neck.
Shuzra heard a slight rustle of fabric so he turned his head to see a chef knife being thrust right at his face now. The startled bandit tried to jump out of the way, but he got struck in the shoulder. Viola and the brute tumbled to the ground with viola on top holding the large knife in Shuzra's shoulder.
Viola pulled the knife out of the shoulder to finish the bandit leader with a stab at his throat, but Shuzra used his good arm to grab her hands and pushed back. Even though Viola was pushing with two arms against the bandit's one arm, she was not making any headway. She did not want to stop pushing because the bandit might be able to recover and turn the tables again.

Mattew quickly being thrown to the side as Viola made her move only encouraged his adrenaline. Mattew sprung to his knees to see the brute and Viola in a struggle for his life on the kitchen floor. Although the bandit the one being life threatened at this point Mattew refused the have Viola in danger or in this situation at all any longer. Mattew tapped the ground with his hand and ran past the two on the ground, picking up Viola over his shoulder in an effort to remove her from the dangerous situation entirely. During the removal of the poor pegasi rider, her force along with the changing direction of the brute's forced the knife into Mattew's back. Mattew was un-phased by this and placed Viola down again picking up his tossed weapon. The bandit stood up unarmed and slightly dis-coordinated from the blow to his shoulder and loss of blood. "Die already!" Mattew ran as fast as he could manage, extremely long blade aimed at the bandit, leaving Viola behind the kitchen table to keep her out of his charge this time. The bandit went to grab for Mattew's weapon but was impaled and ran into the wall before he could manage another movement. The whole room shuttered at the slam of Mattew's several feet long weapon into the wall, still impaling the bandit. "Don't you DARE think about hurting another like her again." Mattew removed the blade with such force not directly outward but to the side, causing further damage to the brute and spreading blood along the wall. The brute layed against the kitchen wall without a movement. Mattew turned to Viola. "I'm really sorry you had to see that. You don't need to give me the job, but are you alright at least?" Blood ran down Mattew's back and coat as he spoke to Viola, knife still within him.

"Eep!" Viola squeaked as she was grabbed from off of the bandit leader. Viola stood in the corner where Matthew put her as she watched him rush back to Shuzra. She gasped upon seeing the stab wound on his shoulder as he charged the bandit.
She flinched when the bandit got impaled by Matthew's long sword. She turned her head as he removed it, and Shuzra slumped to the floor dead. She turned back to Matthew as he approached her.
"I a fine, and thank you for your help," Viola curtsied in gratitude. "but, job? I don't think you told me abouta job before those bandits showed up. Viola said as she thought back to when Matthew had just slid into the booth across from her. "Actually, I don't think I got your name."
Lorenzo kicked the kitchen door in.. again and walked in with his big axe. He looked aroun and saw the dead Shuzra with Matthew and Viola alive and well. "Good job, lad!" The barkeep bellowed. "You're gonna need that shoulder healed up quickly. Viola, help him up the stairs to room 206. A healer works out of that room. Tell him I'llmake arrangements with him about payment."
"Yes, sir," Viola said quickly. She turned to Matthew. "We can talk as we head upstairs." She looked around until she found some ice in a cooler. She wrapped that up in a towel and placed it on the wound. "Here, you can hold this on the stab wound until we get to the healer."

Mattew fell a bit from fatigue as he turned back to Viola, catching himself by grabbing a nearby table before hitting the ground. "Right hah," Mattew sheathes his weapon properly and makes an attempt to stand upright. "I really don't mean to intrude or make any sort of awkward situation of course, but I'd like to assist in the tracking of some 'caravan' you talked with Lorenzo about." Mattew could feel himself slipping, his body trying to fall to the ground, but he wanted to appear professional even in these circumstances. "My name is Mattew, I do quite hope I can help you, I mean it's the least I can do after you saved my life back there. I've overheard more than I think I have the right to know from your conversations with Lorenzo and I'd like to know the rest of your story if you are permitting of me to hear it." The door came flying open caused by the great Lorenzo himself. After seeing Lorenzo's ability Mattew already looked at him with a sort of envy and felt proud of himself after Lorenzo's word of well doing to Viola and himself. After Lorenzo's instructions to head upstairs, Mattew was relieved to be seeing someone who could help with his wounds, but at the same time offended by Lorenzo's offer of payment. Mattew stood as tall as he could, although still resting his weight forward, and said to Lorenzo: "That won't be necessary, I'd like to help her cause and hopefully along that path I'll make some gold myself. Save me a souvenir off of one of these deadbeats if you truly do insist on payment. Thanks Lorenzo." "Hah, get up there boy; and you too Viola. Take a breather and help yourself to anything on the menu Viola, you deserve to relax a little after all that lass." Lorenzo stated back with a sense of triumph in his voice.

So he had heard about how she's looking for her caravan. He probably thinks it's a simple story of getting separated. they eventually made it into the healer's room/ office. He was not in the room, but Lorenzo would most likely be sending him up soon. "Well, while traveling through Sacae," Viola started, "My caravan was attacked by bandits. My adopted father told me to fly away on Anima, my pegasus. I din't want to leave them there. They were almost surrounded. But I did as I was told. My father told me this before I left: 'the Silver Pegasus flies high. Reach it and we'll find you.'" Viola was sitting on a chair next to the bed. She sighed as she remembered the not so cryptic riddle. She figured he was trying to lighten the mood with one of his riddles. "i flew east into Bern," Viola continued. "After a few hours, I turned back so I could see what if anyone survived. I hoped that I wouldn't find anything meaning they had survived and moved on to Ilia. I could easily catch up then. When I got back to the site of the attack, ..." Viola teared up at this part. "Th- the caravan was completely destroyed and ransacked. I saw several bodies from bandits and caravan members." She paused for a moment to collect herself. "I didn't see all the caravan members dead though... so i had hoped they were able to get away. Several horses were also gone. They could also be taken by bandits as could the survivors if any, bu-but I have to hope they are okay at least." Their was a pause for about five minutes before a knock was heard and the healer stepped inside. The healer was a tall woman with bluish hair. "I hope i am not interrupting, but I was told an injured lad was waiting for me." The lady smiled warmly. "My name is Evelyn. I believe you must be Viola, and you with the injury are Matthew. Lorenzo told me your names already." Viola got up. "I'll let you get healed, Matthew. I'll just be in my room getting some rest myself." She bowed to Matthew and then to Evelyn before leaving. Viola quickly entered her room where she laid down on her bed. "Where are you? ..." She drifted off to sleep. ((Sorry for taking so long to post. Here's Evelyn by the way:))
