Mattew thought about Viola's background up until this point. He glanced over to her and scanned her head to toe. She was quite the fit Pegasus rider, but as to be expected if you want to have the maneuverability of one. She seemed like she had trained. Mattew was sure she was dedicated to the art of flight and air combat. Although, Mattew thought, she did not take to fighting too well in the bar, I'm sure she can handle herself much more-so in the air than he could himself. Mattew took this image of her and placed it into a background, and a healthy one at that. Mattew imagined a healthy family, long bearded father, rider of possibly a wyvern for some reason, as well as a mother upon a Pegasus, both draped in beautiful decoration, made with tender care themselves, the image in the Mattew's mind became, as it furthered the details. In Mattew's mind he imagined this incredible family, possibly with a sister as well, to truly love and care for her. Mattew could see by the condition of the cheeks upon her face and lack of bruising upon her, enough, in his mind, to come to the conclusion she had a caring family. Mattew came back to his senses and began feeling his pain again but quickly became slightly embarrassed that he had been staring at Viola in plain sight. "God I hope Lorenzo didn't see that," Mattew thought in his mind. After Viola told her story many holes within Mattew's story seemed to fill, as well as many other became unknown. Mattew wondered how she became adopted in the first place, but as long as her adopted family cared for her. That's what truly matters. Viola soon came to the center of her story, breaking into tears. "Viola.. You don't have to tell.." Viola continued her story, speaking past her tears Mattew went to reach out and pat her head but hesitated and did not end up doing so, as he was not sure how she would react to interaction like that during being upset. He hadn't even know her for long regardless, and now was not the time to try and cross a boundary. The healer stepped into the room, looking to Mattew as a normal healer around here would, although she shared the same way of speaking as Lorenzo did. Mattew found that slightly comical. Viola had ended her story and began to get up and move to her room. "I'll let you get healed, Matthew. I'll just be in my room getting some rest myself." Viola said as she was exiting the room. "Viola! I promise we'll find them!" Mattew got out as the door began to close. For an hour or so the healer tended to Mattew's wounds and left the room. Mattew decided he needed sleep as well, and was going to wake up Viola tomorrow morning. Mattew wanted to know where the two could start immediately.

Viola dreamed of Etruria. She really didn't remember much, but in her dreams she always had vivid images of tall cathedrals and the smiles of friends she hadn't seen for a long while. Her parents' faces appeared many times. She new them and yet did not. She could not remember their names, but remembered other aspects of her childhood. She had a good life up until the assassin came. Viola started shaking in her sleep. It seemed she was having a nightmare now. She was running down the streets Etruria. behind her was the cloaked man who took her parents' lives. He was gaining on her. She kept running and running until she tripped and the assassin caught up. As the sword came down to end her as well, she woke up sitting straight up in her bed at the inn. She breathed heavily as she sat there in a cold sweat bringing her knees to her chest and hugging them tightly. her voice quivered as she spoke quietly, "Mother... Father..."
After ten minutes, Viola got up and washed her face off at the wash basin in the room. She put on her cloak and walked out of the room. As she walked down the stairs to the tavern area, Viola looked at all the people there. Lorenzo was busy with four different customers at one time so she figured best not to distract him. She sat down at a booth and ordered a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. As she waited for her meal she drifted off to sleep again. She dreamed of a childhood friend this time. She was roused awake though by a waitress who gently nudged her shoulder. Viola rubbed her eyes as the waitress smiled at her and placed the oatmeal down on the table. "Enjoy!" she said as she left the table.
Viola could smell the cinnamon and brown sugar in the oatmeal. It smelled really good and it was. It made her feel warm as she ate it and she was reminded of the oatmeal that her adopted mother made. She shook her head not wanting t otear up again. now wasn't the time for tears. She smiled as she finished her meal. She paid the waitress and decided to look at a map of the area while she was seated still.

It was early morning. Mattew woke up upon his own accord and tested out his recently wounded extremities. "That healer used something damn good on me huh?" Mattew stood up steadily, trying to concentrate on whether his body actually hurt or not anymore. After a couple stretches and jumps he came to the conclusion that healing magic was the best magic form and that his respect for healers has gone up significantly. He went into the bathroom, removed his night outfit, which he wore and looked similar to an average assassin outfit, although much softer around every edge, and had extra fluff on the inside. Some things Mattew didn't need others seeing. He put on his much more slick outfit and tucked away his overnight clothing. "Hope it's not too early for Viola." He equipped himself with his weapon, stashing it deep into his coat once again and heading for the door. He felt the grip before leaving as was a common practice of his to position his weapon in a ready fight position. Mattew went down to Lorenzo and asked of where Viola's room was. "I don't think this is much a question I should be answering, as I'm not sure I trust ye with t'a poor lass yet. But, room 38. Don't make me regret my decision boy, you aren't in any position to deserve any kind of special treatment." "Thanks Lorenzo! There won't be any problem I assure you!" Mattew nodded his head to Lorenzo as he turned away, not even wanting to imagine what Lorenzo was referring to. Mattew came to Viola's door and heard a small yelp from within, hesitating him. He looked in the lock whole which he felt incredibly un-honorable doing but just quickly caught a glimpse of Viola sitting up. "I-" With his face red after his terrible deed done, he didn't want to see anything else that might happen further. He turned away and sat downstairs at the bar hoping to catch Viola upon her coming down as well. After a short while he spotted her beginning to sit down to her morning meal of what looked like oatmeal. "No reason to rush her I suppose." Mattew remained seated, and upon her finishing her meal she began looking at a map. Mattew tightened his jacket and approached her then, sitting across from her just as before. "Hopefully this time we won't get any visitors haha." Mattew laughed hopefully. "Where can I start?"

Viola looked up from her map as Matthew sat across from her. "Good morning, Matthew." She greeted the enigmatic fellow who helped her out yesterday. "Well, as you can guess by the story I told you yesterday, I am searching for any surviving members from my caravan family. They said they would come here, so if I got here first, that means they could have run into more trouble on the way. So I was thinking of heading south and searching from here to the Sacaen border." Viola paused a moment to think. She was so unsure of her plan herself. And t's not like she could pay Matthew for his help. "I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but I don't think i can pay you for your help. I could at most pay for your meals and lodging while you help me search, but it be pretty cheap stuff."
Viola looked back to the map in front of her as she continued, "But anyways, if I were to find but one member, it would be worth all the searching." She stood up. "I'll besetting out now, if you come and help I'll make sure to pay for your meal and for a room at an inn whether here or at another town if we go far." She held out her hand, "That's the most I can offer in terms of payment, so if you can't help for that I understand." She expected him to politely turn down the offer. It is what everyone else who offered to help her did. As soon as anyone found out how little she had, their "good will" suddenly flew south for the winter. She might be an optimist, but it was hard to be positive when the same situation resulted in the same negative result each time.

Finally the two sat down to discuss the terms of service Mattew thought in his mind. He had been wanting to know what extent he could help and what he might get out of it, although Mattew made sure not to stray too far into selfishness. Viola retold Mattew of her situation although this time included what she intended to do about it, as well as her next move in the act. "The Sacaen border huh?" Mattew wondered to himself. Mattew had never been that close to the Sacaen border before, only a couple miles from. It surely was to be a new experience for him although he had heard of sightings of weaponry gatherings in the middle of the forests around such border. Mattew didn't mind much, actually he preferred that, as he wouldn't be in much of a job if there wasn't any reason for him being there anyhow. Then Viola went about the explanation of what her pay was about to be. Although unhappy of course that such a minuscule job did not hold untold riches Mattew obviously didn't look any further. "Agh- Hem-." Mattew cleared his throat. "I don't steal- I mean to say Viola, I fight to keep the peace in the world around me, and I don't tolerate any kind of rudeness toward those who deserve kindness and assistance as you have demonstrated. After hearing your story I'd like to say I'm very sorry and that I truly didn't mean to bring up any hard memories. You don't owe me any form of money and I'd be offended if you offered it any further. I couldn't allow you to pay for any of my housing as well as my meals but in return I'd like if you would accept my help in pursuing your lost caravan." Mattew stands before Viola and shakes her hand, with a light yet firm grip. Mattew turns, feels inside his coat for his weapon, grips the handle gently, and pulls his coat tighter as he faces the door. He then looks over his shoulder a bit to the standing Viola, "Shall we?"

Viola was surprised. He wanted no payment for his help. She was not sure how to respond, but shook his hand firmly yet delicately. Viola nodded to Matthew as he waited by the door. She walked out and was met by a bright white Illian morning. Freshly fallen snow laid everywhere, reflecting the sunlight making everything appear a bright white. Several townspeople greeted her with a 'Good Morning' or a 'how are you?'. Viola had met quite a lot of people yesterday from doing small odd jobs. She led him to the stables where her pegasus was. "Matthew meet Anima. Anima, Matthew. He'll be traveling with us for awhile, okay Anima?"
Anima walked over to Matthew and smelled him. He took a bite out of his hat and started to chew it. Viola gasped and tried to hold back a chuckle as she realized it was probably the mint smell. "Sorry, about that. He likes mint a lot." She got him to stop chewing the hat and the pegasus placed it back on Matthew's head.
"Hmm, do you have a horse, Matthew?" Viola asked. "If not we'll need to buy you one so you can keep up with Anima." Anima neighed as if boasting his speed at the comment. There were several horses around the stable area that seemed like they were for sale. Anima looked around at the horses of the stables. All brown or black or some other dark color. None were white like Anima. none of them seemed as groomed as Anima. He liked his master. She was always good to him.

After the speech Mattew had given, he felt proud of himself, he's a gentleman and fighting for a better cause than he has throughout his entire life actually. Used to stealing for necessity and sometimes luxury of even the slightest, Mattew was happy he felt he was doing the right thing for once. Mattew held the door open for Viola as she nodded to him, "My pleasure," Mattew said as she continued out the door, him nodding back to her.
My oh my is was an absolutely splendid morning. The fresh morning breeze of recently laid snow left a cold yet comforting warmth to the air that trickled on Mattew face upon stepping out the door. The fresh breeze felt smooth and soothing as Mattew inhaled the morning air. As Mattew followed Viola to somewhere he wasn't even quite sure yet, his sense of trust in her only continued to climb as what seemed like everyone in town greeting her. "You're sure popular huh?" Mattew looked down and noticed the size of Viola's feet in the snow. Obviously much smaller than his, but the size of shoe he had stol-.. borrowed was much larger than his feet, so the size didn't seem to be truly proportional. Viola introduced Mattew to her pegasus, which's hair flowed like it was the wind itself in Mattew's eyes. Anima walked over to Mattew, "W-woah, hah, hello there little fel-" Anima took a chunk out of Mattew's hood accessory. "What do you think you're doin!-" Mattew quickly reached to grab the hood back from the pegasus but the pegasus evaded his grab. Mattew caught a glimpse of Viola's chuckle out of the corner of his eye, making Mattew want to laugh along. He smiled to himself as he reached for the hood without much attempt now, thinking about how much a smile on Viola must really mean. She hasn't had a good time lately so Mattew was happy she was still able to enjoy herself. After the help of Viola the beautiful pegasus placed the hood back upon Mattew. "Hah, thanks. If I have any extra mint later I'll make sure to give you a little then Anima." Mattew had never riden a horse nor been much close to a horse let alone a pegasus. There was a first for everything I suppose. "Which do you recommend Viola? I truly don't know what I'm supposed to be looking for here. I'm ready once we do find one though, I think I know what to do to ride a horse?"

Viola nodded and looked at a few of the horses. She was pretty good at determining how well a horse would be to train or how well it was trained. She stopped in front of a horse slightly larger than Anima's body size but not by much. It had dark brown almost chocolaty hair. "this one looks to be perfect for you. It's also a cheap price." Viola asked the stable owner about the horse and turned to Matthew afterwards. "It's a male, strong, healthy, takes orders well, and nas no name yet. The price he wants for him is fifteen hundred gold. I asked him why it's so ch3eap for such a good horse, and the owner told me, he's not big enough to be a work horse or a knight's horse for battle, but too big for smaller daily travel folks. Harder to sell horses his medium size." Viola pat the horse on the side of the neck before stepping away to let Matthew get closer if he wanted to.
Anima continued looking about the stables. He ate some hay here and there only to be shooed away by stable hands. Eventually the pegasus walked over to Viola and stood by her resting, more like draping, a wing across her shoulders.
The Stable owner came back over to the two with some papers. "So, you reach a decision?" He asked as he placed the papers on a small table next to them. They appeared to be ownership documents for the horse.

Mattew stood behind Viola and remained remotely just staring at the horses in the stable. Mattew tried to compare the horses to Anima, looking for a strong back, fit legs, a stern posture or anything he could imagine up but alas, Anima was far superior to anything he could expect. Mattew spotted a horse with chocolate hair and the horse seemed to peer back at him, he was an upright horse and came the closest to what Mattew could expect in relations to Viola's extraordinary Anima.
Viola then gave Mattew a rundown on the horse she ha found suitable as well as cheap price. The horse she spoke about was none other than the horse Mattew had been eyeing for the last minute. Mattew thought about what necessities he would still need in a horse but after some thinking, if he ever had any sort of necessities of a horse he would have needed it long ago. This horse could be a simple friend as well as travel companion for the time being, Mattew didn't have any reason he much needed a horse outside being left in the dust by Anima and Viola. Mattew didn't need a horse to do his work for him, not to mention if a horse could do lock picking Mattew would have signed himself up to buy that horse ages ago. Mattew also thought about whether combat on a horse should be necessary, and he came to the conclusion that if a horse could bare the weight of Mattew's weapon and still charge on, not being lopsided, that horse might as well fight with a sword and shield on his own. "Sounds as good a deal as ever." Mattew took the papers, signed everywhere needed as well as wrote in the name slot for the horse, "Lead."

After mattew bought Lead, Viola lead Matthew out of the stable area and through town. There was not much she needed to get, but she decided to cut through the market district to purchase a few supplies. she bought a few vulnerie as well as a few pieces of produce and dried meat. She did not get much produce since it wouldn't last very long, but at least while in Ilia, it would last longer because of the cold.
Anima walked single file behind his master with wings folded to his side. He knew not to randomly eat stuff from the carts full of delicious apples and baskets of Mint. Many shop keepers were ready to defend their stock from the pegasus, but were in awe as he was a model of perfect behavior. Some merchants gave Viola a free apple for Anima seeing as he was not causing any trouble like most pegasi who are brought through the market.
After finishing shopping for supplies, viola lead Matthew to the gate of the city. "We head south from here. Specifically to the southern mountains near the border of Sacae. Hopefully, we won't need to go too deep into them or at least see signs that the caravan went elsewhere." Viola explained.
Viola mounted Anima now and started to hover off the ground. "I'll fly ahead and see if there's any trouble on the road. So just follow the road here south, and I'll come and continue from the there. " Viola turned towards the Sacae border and flew off.

As the group with their new mounts passed through the market Anima was on his best behavior, whereas Lead was still getting used to Mattew. At delectable apple stalls he would stare a bit and possibly drool, forcing Mattew to need to redirect his head to continue onward. While walking by some merchant stalls Mattew payed for some things he needed, such as some spare metals Mattew could use as lock picks, as well as some foods such as some dried steaks and fruits for Lead. A couple stalls Mattew used the body of his horse to cover his swiping of a couple items such as a compass, some meat Mattew thought looked delicious, and a personal sun dial to boot. Mattew knew what he was doing wasn't the best of actions but in reality how much pain is he truly causing? In Mattew's mind, it was justified as well as unseen so unnoticed. Mattew grabbed a little closer on the reigns to Lead and followed Viola and Anima to the gate of the city. The fresh snow still on the arch of the entrance and exit. It was beautiful and left quite the impression of a nice little town whenever Mattew looked upon it. Viola turned, mounted her pegasus and began hovering as she told Mattew the plans. "We head south from here. Specifically to the southern mountains near the border of Sacae. Hopefully, we won't need to go too deep into them or at least see signs that the caravan went elsewhere." "Sounds good, I'll keep an eye out for anything on the ground, but you'll probably have a better view than I. Stay low sometimes, it'll be quite the trip and a little side chatter shouldn't be out of question. The endless snow could get a little craze-inducing so let's talk every couple miles." Viola then started hovering higher, obviously about to take flight. "I'll fly ahead and see if there's any trouble on the road. So just follow the road here south, and I'll come and continue from the there." Mattew nodded but after seeing what leaving her alone ended with Mattew wasn't so sure about it again. After her takeoff and flight to the south, Mattew decided to trail her, attempting to stay out of her view although there wasn't much he could do in such a circumstance as she had quite a vision range from where she flew Mattew was sure. Their journey had begun.
