So these humans do not wish to lay down their arms. A wise decision. The rabbit taguel thought for a moment. She looked around at the injured humans, it was amusing to see them try to patch each other up. Fleur’s ears twitched lightly, she picked up on the human’s conversations. The lynx behind her couldn’t help but smirk at the comment of the one human comparing the other human to a mangy mutt. It was fortunate the she-wolf had ran off into the woods otherwise she probably would have snapped at that comment. She kept her composure as neutral as possible. She didn’t want this to end in any more bloodshed than it already had.
“Suit yourselves. Humans! We agree to these mutual terms.. of not hurting one another.” Fleur pointed at herself, at the little rabbit behind her, and at the lynx.
“A word of caution.. I suggest you watch your mouth about sick mixed breeds of dogs and wolves. I have no power over what our wolf would do if she heard you.” She spoke loud enough for all of them to hear her. Even though the comment about mutts came from the two humans who were furthest away from her.
“She’s a old bi..” The lynx stopped himself. Looked at the humans, then at the little rabbit, then at Fleur. Who was looking at him with a soft scowl on her face and narrowed eyes. The Lynx sighed in annoyance.
“Fine. I’ll be polite. She’s an old bat.”
The Ivy human approached and spoke. Fleur thought he had a funny way of speaking but the boy was showed that he had manners. Which was better than the half frantic glare the man with the bow was giving them. Or the look that the boy with the shaking sword arm and brown clothes. But as the ivy man approached the more nervous the child behind her got. The rabbit boy could not bury his tiny face any further into Fleur’s hair and legs. Eventually, he started to pull on the older rabbit’s hair which caused her to act.
She winced lightly. Before she reached around and pulled her plush hair free from the rabbit’s fuzzy grip. She raised her hand, open palm forward to tell the ivy haired man not to come closer. Then crouched down towards the rabbit child behind her to speak.
“Enough with the hiding. These humans risked their hide to save yours. You at least acknowledge them with your presence.” But the child simply buried his face into his hands. His little ears were stiff from fear. Fleur sighed then returned her attention back to the man. The boy was once again clinging to her feet.
“I apologize.. Ivy headed one. The little one.. is wary of strangers. As he should be. However, his cowardice… And your companions.. defensive natures.. makes it difficult for me to approach.. and heal your injured.” She paused for a moment. She gave a glance to the lynx behind her. The grey cat started to speak.
“If only he understood that if he were a bit more brave...” He was being both slightly sarcastic and a bit dramatic with his words. His voice was soft enough to be picked up by the humans closest to them. Fleur placed her thumb and index finger to rub the bridge of her nose closest to her closed eyes. His acting was bad.
“He could weave a colorful story out of this encounter to tell all his friends back in the den.” The lynx continued.
The brown haired rabbit child’s ears twitched and he turned his little head to the side.
“Perhaps, if he had the courage to stand on his own two feet and maybe look you in the eye. He might be able to give the kids an accurate description of his heroes. But noooo. He would rather tell the story of how he spent his time.. hiding behind his fellow rabbit. Being a burden… A pest. A..weak.. cowardly child..”
The rabbit child let go of Fleur. And glanced at the lynx with a pout on his face and a furrowed brow.
“Perhaps I can be proven wrong.” The lynx had a stern look about him. He knew his words struck a chord with the child. Until the boy let go of Fleur’s legs. He was standing on his own. Still, close to Fleur but not quite so timid. To those who saw him he looked to be the equivalent of a five or six year old boy… With bunny features.
The lynx gave a small smirk.
“T-Th.. thank you S-Sh-Sir.” The boy muttered towards the green haired man in a soft voice. He turned to look up at Fleur.
“Su-suh-Sorry.. I-I'll.. k-kh..keep out..your hair f-from now on.” He was still scared. But he was doing his best to show some backbone. He took a few hesitant steps to the side so he was out of the way of the adults. Fleur nodded to the lynx and the grey cat took a seat by the boy this time.
“Humans, I know of you. You've come from the sea and settled a patch of beach for yourselves. You’ve made a warren of wood along the shore. Humans.. we are taguel. This island is our home. We share this island with both native humans and the animals you just fought. You humans of the sea.. are foreigners.. Trespassers.” She kept her expression, body language, and tone neutral. Fleur was not here to make friends. She needed to see if these humans were inherently hostile. She would take what she learned from these people and relay that info back to her people.
“For what purpose are you here?”
