Ooc- this first one iss a letter to Euph. A good bit, After the island event stuff. This was a lot shorter in my head.

There is/are months in between writing these letters and them arriving at their destination.

Dear Euphemious,

I hope this letter finds you well. Greetings! It’s me Aeos! I’m sending this from Aurion.. the tiny human settlement on this weird new island some merchants found a while back. This place is really.. well dang it it’s really pretty cool. It’s really warm too. Also it’s full of greenery and life. Kinda reminds me of Bern.. only less mist.. and more tropics? Anyway, i’m writing to let you know how I’ve been and stuff. I have been great! This island is very wild. And the terrain is mixed. Like.. there Saree beaches and then woods… Some reports say jungles… But I know there are mountains! I can see those. This place is very wild. And the natives here are wilder. I can’t say too much about them on paper. But.. Euph.. they.. are special. I met one.. who had similar.. uh.. talents.. like my own. But.. not exactly. It’s weird. But.. they seem.. not hostile. I mean there were some scuffles with the natives and a few of the wild animals here.. that needed intervention from the natives.. because.. seriously. This island.. is very wild. If not for the wild monsters ANIMALS attacking us.. we probably wouldn’t have ever made.. uh a decent.. first contact with these guys.

But Euph.. things .. don’t look so good. At least.. I think they don’t look so good. People here are obsessed with their greed.. they’ve gone ahead and started cutting into the woodlands.. and claiming territories for themselves.. territories of the native people. People have even started to capture this.. new breed of animal called a gryphon. It’s like a lion.. bird hybrid. Apparently, these things can’t breed in captivity.. so getting one means that people have to go out and catch it. Break it’s will. Train it to ride. Then sell it back to the Elbile Elibe... damn it.. back on the mainland. Pegsai and Wyverns are going to have some competition in the sky. One.. of the captures went badly.. and the animal was killed. I didn’t want to see it’s remains go to waste so I took a few of it’s bones. I..also ate some of it. Many of the people here don’t like the taste of it. I thought it was alright. Anyway, made a bone knife for you. Should be enclosed with the letter. It’s got your insignia and the words “Guardian” carved into it in my language. I hope they don’t steal it.

Now.. while this sort.. of greedy human behavior.. hasn’t raised any war flags with the natives yet.. it’s.. definitely given them some concern. The others.. can’t seem to sense them too well. But I can. Some of their scouts watch us from the woodlands. Euph.. these natives.. are strong. They are different. And.. people.. do not respond well to things that are “different”. I.. fear for them. And.. i’m afraid. This.. island.. is different. Though.. you don’t feel it.. since you are neither a spellcaster.. or have my “talents” but the air here.. the spirits here.. it feels more concentrated. I.. think.. that since this place.. was far away from the scouring.. they.. it.. did not experience what Elbile.. had experienced. Euph.. i’m.. frightened. I.. don’t want people to come here and ruin this place. I don’t.. want to see.. what could be another war. I know.. the history.. and.. I know what the scouring did to Elibe.. It was long before my time… but that does not mean I wish to see it happen in this time..or in ANY time. I’ve.. considered going out into the wilds to meet them. I want to learn from them. Maybe.. it’ll help with.. uh.. my issues? I kinda really want to climb that mountain I keep seeing.

Oh! I made a friend here. A young sailor named Gar. He seems to be pretty cool. Gave me a homemade necklace made out of a boar tusk. Told him about the pie challenge. Running out of paper so I have to cut this short here.

Day 1 of exploration

Journal,

Today was the day I had set out on my own in the forests of this new island. I stocked up on just about everything I could possibly need for such a long expedition. After all I.. probably won't be coming back into Aurion for quite some time. The taguel who interact with those of Aurion have told me that there are civilizations out there. And lady Rhea did tell me that there were human villages out there. I.. couldn't help it. I needed to get out of Aurion. Everthing in the city of splinters felt..so confining. But out here I feel as if I can breathe a bit easier.

I managed to make it farther upstream then I had ever been. Past the log where the bees made their nest and past the point where I had met both Gar and Lady Rhea. The trees here are large and wide.. which means that they have been long lived. It seems that everything native of this island is larger then normal. Perhaps.. that might be due to all of the magic in the air. Or.. at least I think it's magic.. i'm not quite sure. But everything seems to be so.. concentrated with life. The wild animals here are larger then the monsters back home. Maybe they are connected? There are just so many things that I do not know. But I do know the name of the island!

The map calls this island Vinland. It's an odd but truthful name. There be plenty of vines crawling around the barks of these trees. Perhaps that's why the natives named it as such? Or maybe their first founder.. was named Vin? Or a variant there of? I wonder if that.. was the same reason Elibe was.. named Elibe. But I am getting off topic here. My map tells me that there is some sort of blue.. thing.. up ahead. Probably a lake or spring.. something that gives this little brook it's water. My plan is to follow the water upstream as far as it will take me. I just hope it does not bend or become a fork in the road later on.
