Thasus had pulled out his recently stitched up bag and inside was a small brown coin purse, he opened it up and shook it a few times and heard the familiar jingle noise indicating a decent some of cash on hand which was enough to pay for at least a cheap meal. He smiled at Mila and nodded in agreement at her choice of a meal. As he walked back down to the small pub with Mila he felt proud of himself for being able to cast his spells with only um... one accident, looking past that however he strolled over to a table and took a seat pulling out several coins and placing them onto the table. "Not to sound rude Mila, but before we talk more could you get me that food? I'm afraid I haven't eaten much since my arrival and uh... that show up there took a lot out of me."
He felt rather tired at the moment as well but figured he would find a place to rest after his discussion with Mila, he was rather surprised at how exhausted he was after his training, he read about in his books that using too much magic could be exhausting for the body but with the small amount of magic he used this came as a shock to him! Although, his body is rather foreign to the use of magic and even a small amount of usage will definitely lead to him being drained of energy. He needs to watch how much magic he uses in the future while still in training less he find himself passing out or unable to fight.

Mila decided to leave their training dummy assembled for the time being. She carefully followed behind Thasus as a precaution. She knew that the boy must be reeling from the effects of the failed spell. She could catch him if he started to fall. Once they were both safely inside, Mila called over one of the waitresses. And ordered both the stew and meat dish. Mila handed over some of her own coins for the meat dish. She shuffled over some coins from Thasus’s pile for the cheaper stew.
“Oh. Right. Don’t worry food is on the way.” She gve him a soft smile. It wasn’t long before there was food presented to Thasus. The sage sat there thinking about how to help Thasus with his problem with fire magic. She decided to suggest some simple exposure exercises to help Thasus overcome the fear with fire. She waited a bit until Thasus was nearly finished with his food before she started to talk again.
“Well, How are you feeling? If.. you need to sleep. You could use my room. I.. uh.. can’t sleep in it anymore. It’s.. a bit too small for me now.” More like I feel that it shrinks on me. The room itself was nice. There was a decent straw bed and a shelf for books. There was a small table for night reading. But Mila couldn’t sleep in it anymore. The room was too constrictive for the sage, she would wake up in the middle of the night and leave the room in distress. She'd feel that the room was shrinking in the dark. Even though that was physically impossible as rooms do not change size at will.
“But.. as to your.. problem. I think.. I’ve a solution. And while.. it might seem.. a bit mundane.. or you might think it to be beneath you. I feel that it would help you.” She grabbed the candle and holder that was on the table and blew out the flame.
“I think we should take a step back. I know you are eager to show the world your aptitude with magic.. and might want to start big. But we aren't going to start big. This.. method helped me get over my issues with thunder and earth spells. Now.. you don’t have to do this if you don’t feel up for it right now. But, I still would like to show you what I mean.” She raised her hand up and snapped her fingers. And suddenly, the candle was re-lit. This trick was one of the most simplest tricks to perform with a basic fire spell.
“I mean.. obviously you can’t.. light candles with thunder or earth tomes." She sighed. Damn it Mila make sense. Then cleared her throat.
The point I wanted to make is that it's best to start small. We shall use simple variants of fire spells at first and gradually work our way up. This will help boost your confidence with fire and help you understand the element a bit better. Now that is not to say you will be working on practising fire all the time. There are simple spells for wind and thunder too.”

Thasus was grateful for the food that was set in front of him and began to slowly eat at a moderate base, as much as he wanted to devour the food set before him his parents had taught ALL of the proper table etiquette, almost as much as in a royal family. He had regained his senses looking up at Mila soon finishing his meal with a full stomach and magic refilled. She was directing to use fire magic to light a candle, a simple task as Mila did it with ease he figured the task would be easy enough.
He pulled the candle closer to him and set his tome next to him opening to the chapter on fire magic, he let a small amount of magic well up before he tried conducting it onto the candle, however he stayed calm and charged in more magic and released it into the candle. The moment he let it go the wick on the candle erupted in a a large flame almost reaching up to the ceiling but soon diminished back into a small flame looking like a normal candle.
"Well uh.. I suppose that works right?" He looked at Mila and gave a small smile along with a nervous chuckle. He had pushed the candle back to the center of the table and pat his stomach with content yawning in the process, the sun outside was beginning to set and he still needed to find a place to sleep for the night. "Mila I cannot thank you enough for today's lesson, but I am afraid I must be on my way I need to find a place to stay for the night then find a caravan to take me to Laus, If memory serves me correctly I have distant relatives who live there as merchants and I am sure they would have jobs for a pupil like me to do, so nothing too dangerous." He gave Mila a saddened expression at first but then looked at her with pride. "You don't happen to know of a cheap inn around here where I may rest for a night do you?"

Mila was calm when Thasus did his little demonstration of candle lighting. And while the burst of flame wasn't small, concise, or controlled it did give Mila a small glimpse into Thasus potential. Interesting.
“Like I said you are welcome to sleep in my former room.” Mila smiled softly. A voice from the counter told her that she better charge him for the night. To which the sage quipped that he could be charged the same rate they charge her. Since, Mila essentially lives there she isn't charged a thing. Which meant Thasus has a free room for the night.
“Wonderful. Glad that's settled. I'll guide you to the room in a bit. As.. to your Laus situation.” Mila grabbed her bag and pulled out a book. It was one version of her expanded guide on monsters. A waitress came and cleared the table of empty plates.
“Wipe your hands clean before opening. And flip over to the red bookmark.” That particular section had drawings and details of various undead and other local land bound monsters. Such as doogs, baels, and tarvos.
“I'm sorry to have to bring you a bit of bad news.” She sighed.
“I don't know if you know this.. but Laus is incredibly dangerous. For the last year or so.. the territory has been plagued by monsters of all kinds. For some reason they are fixed on it just like they have fixed themselves on Osita. Many folks have either left the territory altogether, died, or stayed and fought.” She tapped her foot lightly. Part of her wished she was in Lycia now helping the people and gathering more information for her research.
“Not too much word of this monster infestation has gone outside of Lycia. Merchants are slowly being cut off from the territory. They are usually delegated towards the neighboring territories as a result. Messengers are sparse. Your relatives might not be in Laus anymore. But.. you won't know if they are there or not unless you go yourself. So..” She cleared her throat.
“Now.. as a last act of kindness.. I can get you part way to Laus. At the very least I can get you out of Eturia. You have two options..” Mila then pulled out an Atlus of the world. She turned the page over to the world map.
“We are here in Taras. I know of a few trusted merchant caravans you can travel with. One caravan.. takes a route out of Eturia and into Sacae. They go up to Bulgar. Before heading East to the city of Heroes.” Mila trailed her finger down the map as she spoke.
“They can drop you off at Bulgar and you'd have to find your own way through Bern and into Lycia. A land route might take you more time.. but it gives you a chance to train along your way.” She sighed softly.
“The other caravan can take you out into Nabata’s city of Khan Yunis. From there you can grab a boat out to Badon. A boat ride is faster but you'd be stuck out at sea. Khan Yunis is known for its mix mash of cultures and historical digs. You might have an easier time finding work there.”
After a bit Mila took both books back and stuffed them into her bag.
“I'll let you mull over it.. sleep on it.. if you like. But you have to give me a response by morning. Cause by tomorrow afternoon I will be gone. Phew.. that was a lot of info. So come on.. I'll show you to a room.” And with that the sage got up, waited for Thasus, before showing him to a small but comfortable room upstairs.

Thasus was grateful for everything Mila had offered him, for a complete stranger she showed such kindness and hospitality towards him, a strange concept to him but nice all the same. At the mention of a free room for the night he jumped at the change to take the offer and agreed without hesitation."That would be great thank you!" He followed her into the small room and was delighted in seeing a bed to sleep in for once rather than the wooden floor of a caravan.
Mila had mentioned something about getting a caravan to take him to some locations he's read about but never gave a second thought about going there, perhaps he would mull it over tonight and give her his answer in the morning like she said...
"Again, thank you Mila and see you in the morning I shall have your answer by the morning." He had closed the door and taken off his cowl leaving just his green undercoat. He had hopped into bed and covered himself up continuing to think about his possible choices on where to go... He was almost totally out of money and would have no protection from monsters but he needs to visit his family not only to see if they're alive but the money a merchant family could offer him is huge and help him start his new journey... He yawned and closed his eyes, perhaps the answer will come to him in the morning... he thought as sleep over took the tired pupil.

Mila walked away and left Thasus to rest in the room. She sat down at the bar and started to talk to the bar tender. One of her "uncles", a blonde man with an eye patch. After a bit of witty banter she had asked him to keep some tabs about the merchants that were due to make their way out of Eturia. Hopefully, Thasus would choose one of them before the country tightens the security on their borders. As of right now the only folks allowed out of the country were merchants with special passes, their guards, and Eturian military. She sighed softly and went to a back room. She grabbed a few things before heading out towards the barn. The sage had gotten accustomed to sleeping in the barn due to her claustrophobia. She felt safe there due to it's large glass-less window. And while the hay and wooden floor wasn't exactly comfortable it was tolerable. The sage wasn't going to be staying there long.
By morning the sage had returned to the inn. She had her belongings all packed and ready to go. All she had to do now was sit down to a hearty breakfast before venturing out to meet the troupe that would smuggle her out of Eturia. Her destination was Lycia as well. But she would be taking a different caravan then the one she offered Thasus. She was presented a bowl of oatmeal, a peach, and a warm cup of tea. She cut the peach up into pieces and threw them into the bowl of oats before eating.

Thasus awoke to light of early dawn breaking through the thin glass window and shining over him like a veil, he slowly sat up and yawned while rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and lifted the blankets from his still waking body. He picked up his cowl and dawned over his shoulders giving him his usual appearance. He then grabbed his small leather bag and opened up the door leading out of the small room and walked down to the tavern area spotting Mila, soon after walked over to her. "I've made my decision Mila, I believe I am going to be going to that port town you mentioned, Khan Yunis was it? As much as I want to see if my family is alright, I would rather not risk my life as such." As selfish as his response made him seen if he were to die his journey would all be for naught, plus he never met them who knows they might be cruel and not even want to see him...
He sat down at the table next to Mila and placed his head down on the table making a small frown. "I know we've only know each other for such a short while Mila, but I enjoyed it... I hope that one day if we meet again I can repay back the kindness you showed me these two days..." He sat up and hopped out of his chair strutting over to the entryway to the tavern and leaning against the doorway, "So when is our... I mean... my departure anyway?"

Mila was about halfway through her breakfast before Thasus went up to join her. Mila was happy with the fact that the young pupil had managed to come to a decision about his destination. The merchants heading to Khan Yunis would be pleased to have an extra helper in their group. She was quiet for a bit as she tried to remember what time the merchants were coming to pick them up.
“You can repay me by becoming a great mage.” She smiled.
“I travel the world in order to study monsters. I’m certain our paths will cross again some day.” She stopped talking for a bit in order to finish her breakfast.
“Hmm.. usually the caravans pass through here for food and manpower at around noon. So you’ve got time for some breakfast and quick shopping. A word of advice.. since Nabata is a desert land. Pack water and be prepared for sand. Sand that gets in every nick and crack of anything and everything you carry.” She smiled softly then frowned a bit. Nabata brought her some rather unpleasant memories.
“But the port town is alright. I think you will enjoy it. Use that travel time to practice your spells. And keep calm.” The sage pulled from a side pocket a small pamphlet of notes she wrote down to give Thasus. The pamphlet was full of small versions of basic spells in order to help him control his magic.
“That’s my last gift to you. A list of small spells to help you with your training. They are small enough for you to do while riding in the back of a caravan. But do be careful with the fire and lightning ones.” She got up and handed it to him. She sighed softly and fixed his cowl a bit.
“There we go. Nice and even. Just be back here a little bit before noon. I’ve told the other’s about you already. The blonde man behind the bar will guide you to the merchants when they get here. The ride with the merchants won’t be an easy one. None of them are.. but it will serve to give you some much needed experience. Ah.. hold on one sec.” She went back to her seat and grabbed her things. She placed the empty bowls of food as well as some coins on the bar’s counter top. She then returned back towards the door way.
“Well then. This is where we part ways. My ride doesn’t stop here so I’ve got to head to the other end of town. So.. Farewell and Good Luck!” Resist the urge to hug him. Don’t ruffle his hair.. don’t pinch his cheeks. Come on Mila.. crush your sisterly instincts. She gave him a few pats on the shoulder before, waving to the other’s at the inn, and heading out the door. She walked down the road and disappeared among the crowd of people.
{End thread}
