Gar’s arm was knocked away and a corpse was shoved against him. “Get away from me Gar! I'm dangerous!” Gar stumbled backward from Aeos’ strength. He barely kept his footing, but the revenant fell to the ground before him. The body managed to tangle it’s limbs between Gar’s legs. The pirate dropped the winged axe into the body’s back, ceasing it’s movement. Gar turned to where Aeos was, but he was gone. “Aeos! What the hell was that about? Where’d you go?” Gar grunted and swung his axe at the nearest threat, ending it. I guess he’s trying to fight the scourge on his own. Ugh what now?
Gar fought his way out of the crowd once again. He took a moment to gather his thoughts and let Junzentaru’s influence fade from his body. After a few deep breaths Gar returned to his original endeavors, to save the town from corruption. Only now there was another aspect to the plan; find and save Aeos, not to mention the archer from earlier as well. Maybe, if I find the source and end it, Aeos will be freed. Gar shook his head, he wanted to run the plan by June but the axe was probably still recovering from the scrum. Gar brushed his pant legs and tightened the bandanna around his head. “Time to get to work.”
Gar reenacted his earlier act of ascending to the rooftops. From this vantage point he could scan the town without the threat of the undead. After a few minutes of searching and surveying Gar saw a concerning sight. There was a creature, much like the ones he had fought earlier, but this one was different. This one seemed to be everything that the others were, just more of it. It appeared stronger, more rotten, and more corrupt.
Gar took a step closer to get a better look at the creature. As he shifted his weight forward, his leg broke through a panel of wood lining the roof. Gar withdrew his leg with a curse. “ At least I didn’t fall through. Don’t want to deal with that thing right now.” Gar continued traversing the rooftops, searching.

Aeos felt bad. Really really bad. He wanted to stay and help Gar. But his other personality, if he could call it that, was thinking of itself first. Gar could not see him like that. Not as a fully half shifted dragon or fully shifted dragon. Aeos did not want to be at the receiving end of that axe. He didn't want Gar to hate him for what he was. A goddamn myth![/] And so the dragon man kept running down alleys and making his way away from the fighting. He was panting now.
He leaned a clawed hand on a nearby wall and tried to catch his breath. He hoped that the archer was alright too. His other hand touched his forehead. His head was hurting badly. He assumed it was a side effect of being shifted for so long in a stressful situation. Compounded with whatever energy was used to throw that super punch. If he was calm in some remote place he could have kept this form up for longer. He should have stopped drawing the power of his stone at this point. But, the area was still infested with monsters. It was too dangerous for him to simply stop. He groaned in pain once more.
He was dizzy now. His instincts told him to fully change and fly away from there. He could recover in a safe place far away from here. I'm so tired of running. His sight was starting to go blurry. He clenched his teeth. It would death to him if he passed out now. He needed to make a choice now before he was too exhausted to do so. Against his survival instincts he choose to cut himself off the power of his stone. Gradually his human features returned to him. He slumped to the ground onto his knees. He was exhausted but conscious. It took him some time but he slowly started to move. Carefully, he brought himself back up off the floor. His limbs were numb, they sent an uncomfortable prickly sensation through his body as he moved.
He could hear the shuffling movements of the undead. He couldn't get caught here. He found a ladder and slowly climbed his way up to the rooftop. Each step up the ladder was excruciatingly difficult for him. His whole body felt heavier than a sack of iron. Once. At the safety of the rooftop he pulled the ladder up with him. He set it aside and sprawled himself onto the wooden surface. A few moments of rest..
Ooc- it's a different rooftop.

Gar was getting closer, he could tell based on the density of reanimated corpses. There were a few among them that were empowered by the corruption, which served to reinforce Gar’s belief that whatever caused this was near. Gar placed a hand on his forehead. Arrr. What am I doing? I should be looking for Aeos, not some unknown evil. I gotta make sure he’s alright. He would do the same for me. Gar scratched his head underneath the cloth that covered it.
That acquaintance of yours made it quite clear that he didn’t want you in his vicinity. Apparently Junzentaru had rested enough since the earlier scuffle with the revenants. The weapon was once again able to communicate. Gar grunted but he knew the weapon had a point. Junzentaru continued to drive the message home. The man himself claimed that he was dangerous. We have but one option left, destroy the source. Gar nodded his head, attempting to rid himself of the desire to find his friend within the village. The pirate traversed to the rooftops until he reached point where he believed the corruption was spreading from. Gar placed an ear to the roof, listening for sounds within the building.
Moans, deep and guttural, like the ones from the revenants. But there were other sounds. Some type of mumbling, like the mages who chanted before casting fire or thunder. Gar furrowed his brow. Is all this some type of dark magic from some twisted shaman? The divine weapon that hung from his hip began to glow once again. This is the place. You know what must be done. Gar nodded and drew Junzentaru, feeling the strength once again.
Also, if your so called friend has fallen to the corruption and stands in our way… Junentaru didn’t finish the thought, but Gar understood. If that happens, I’ll handle it. Gar lifted the glowing weapon above his head and swung downward at the rooftop, as if he were wielding a sledgehammer instead of an axe. The weapon collided with the wooden frame of the rooftop, puncturing a hole in it. A smell emanated from the hole, pungent and disgusting. Gar lifted a leg and stomped along the side of the hole making it large enough to fall through.
Gar entered the newly made hole, allowing his legs to absorb the weight of the fall as he hit the ground. It was dark in the building, the only light was from June’s glow. With the little light, the pirate could see a table with black tomes and a recently blown out candle. Gar’s eyes fell upon a figure in robes, fleeing through a back exit. They’re scared of your power June. Good. That means were dealing with the living again. Gar pursued the figure, briefly stopping at the table, destroying the tomes with a light infused swing of the two handed weapon.
Gar grinned as his pursuit began. His blood was filled with the same heat and courage that he has come to enjoy so much. He exited the dark building to find a few lesser corpses in his way, one in front and one at each side. With a battle roar and one upward swing of the axe he knocked the foremost zombie to the ground. He didn’t have time to deal with the others. The pirate took off in the direction away from the building.
He didn’t have a line of sight on the dark figure, so the search began anew. Gar called out to the person, wherever they were. “I didn’t mean to drop in so suddenly. Sorry if I startled you but, you’d think a person who made this many zombies wouldn’t get scared off so easily. How about you come here and we have a long chat about these creatures you’ve created.” Gar laughed into the town, attempting to taunt the figure out of hiding.

Aeos simply laid there on the roof. The exhaustion of his half shifting and the sun shining down on his face made him very sleepy. He closed his eyes and let himself drift off into the darkness. He told himself he would take a quick nap. Only a few minutes. His breathing slowed down. He started to dream. At least what he perceived to be a dream. The vision in his mind was one of himself, as he was fully shifted. He was in a area of pure light with both his human form and his dragon self acting as the shadows of his half shifted state. There was nothing in this void of light save for himself. There was no sensation. No sound. No feeling. No vision. He felt himself walking in this void of white. The dream version of him felt as if it knew where it was going. It did not panic. It did not run. It merely walked through the void. Slowly, the image of white faded away into a sea of darkness and black. Still the figure pressed on. Determined to reach whatever goal was placed for it in this inky realm.
The shadows of himself changed to white to contrast the new realm of the dark. He looked on into the dark until the white shadows moved forward. Their presences soon reflected upon every wall. Green flames started to emerge in the dark and provide a path for him to walk on. He could hear voices now. His own voice. Unknown voices. At first they were gibberish. But as he pressed forward the voice’s started to speak clearly. Some words were harsh. They kept calling him a monster. A creature that shouldn’t belong. An enemy of the humans. A thing to be killed. A relic of the past he did not even know. He shook his head. Another voice spoke. Praising him. Reminding him of his place in the world. He was powerful. He was an embodiment of a force of nature. Nature. A place of both order and chaos. The voices then questioned why was he here. Why am I here?He repeated it to himself. What.. Were we doing? There was a strange creaking noise. The dream version of himself shifted back slightly. Why.. Do we try to hide it? We.. no.. I am a force of nature. I.. shouldn’t.. Have to hide. We.. are not human.. And we never will be. Why.. strive.. To be like them.. To be accepted.. Acceptance.. Is that what I really want? Does.. It even matter? The creaking noise again. The humans who accept you will be dead within a century.. What good is it if they accept us? Humans.. Reject nature..[/b] Then suddenly a snap. And the figure started to fall. Aeos woke up and found himself on the inside of the building he was in. He was fortunate that this place had a attic floor that was littered with sacks. He stared up at the hole in the roof and said nothing. His mind felt like it was lost in a fog. He stayed there in attic for a few more moments. Letting his mind and body catch up with the present. There were groans outside.
The monsters. Right. We.. were fighting them.. With. Gar.. He let his head droop to the side a bit then let out a sigh. He tried to move and pull himself up. That was a mistake. The pain of the fall caught up with him. He let out a groan and eventually turned himself around. He was lying down on his front and slowly he pushed himself off the ground. Roof napping.. Not the best idea. He was sitting on his knees now. He held his head with his palm. His head was throbbing in pain. He felt as if he had forgotten something important. He got up onto his feet.
The groans of the outside were different then before. They were lower in tone and sounded wet. As if whatever thing out there was groaning with some sort of liquid in it’s mouth. It’s foot fall was heavier too. And it carried with it something metallic. He was surprised he could hear and perceive all of that considering he had just fallen. He looked at his hands and realized he was half shifted again. He wasn’t sure when that happened or why. But it was strange.. He didn’t feel as tired as he was before. Perhaps the nap helped or he simply lost all sensation due to the adrenaline in his system. Or the fall had killed him and this was just some sort of ironic purgatory. He shrugged and decided not to question it. There was a thing outside that needed to be dealt with.
He glanced up at the hole in the roof. He used the heightened abilities of his half shifted body to jump up towards the hole and climb back onto the rooftops. Aeos drew his hood back up over his head and fastened it so it wouldn't fall over. He also fastened the front of it so it wouldn't blow open. He jumped from one rooftop to another and was finally able to get a glimpse at the thing that made the noises. Another undead thing. This one was larger than the others. And seemed to have more malice coming from it. He could see it moving. As if it was heading for one house in particular. Aeos didn’t want it going to whatever was inside the home.
The dragon man looked around him. The roof he was on was being repaired. There were loose shingles in a bucket along with some tools. He grabbed the shingles and started to throw it at the creature. Hoping to get it’s attention away from whatever was in the home. He knocked the creature in the back of the head which caused it to turn around. It let out a shriek of some kind but Aeos silenced it by tossing another clay shingle at it’s face. [/i]Right in between the eyes![/b][/i]
“I’ve got plenty more where those came from you fiend!” He threw another shingle tile.
“Come and try to stop me!” He taunted. He needed the creature to move closer towards the home he was on. He had an idea on how to kill the creature quickly.

The pirate continued jogging through the dismal town, searching for the robed figure, based on the footprints left in the soil. Gar considered the possibility that they could have belonged to one of the revenants but the stride length matched a person moving at a higher speed, too fast for the walking dead. “Come on out already. Don’t be such a yellow belly.” Gar’s calls fell upon deaf ears. The only replies he was getting were the groans of the corpses who were responding to his noise. The shambling revenants began coming out of the alleys and homes to fill the street that Gar was traversing. He didn’t want to bother with the slow moving enemies while he was in pursuit of his main target. Gar chose a path that would allow him the most freedom of movement while still travelling in the correct direction.
The pirate was weaving around the threats dodging their attacks and allowing them to stumble harmlessly behind him. Sidestepping and ducking the swipes soon grew tedious and was costing him valuable time in his chase. Gar lifted his head to the rooftops again. He considered climbing atop them to gain the vantage point and the less hindering mobility, but his eyes returned to the footprints. They led to an alleyway. Gar followed and came to see that they ended in the alley. Either they were covered up or they just faded. Either way, Gar felt that he was close.
The alley was sealed on three sides. The only street entrance was where Gar currently stood. Three doors represented the three possible ways to go. Gar quickly walked up to the closest one and kicked the wooden door, knocking it away from its hinges and causing it to fall into the room. It was a simple shed. Aside from a few tools for farming and maintenance, the shed was empty. Gar proceeded to the next door which was already somewhat ajar. His anticipation grew over the possibility of the fight being near.
Gar swung the door open and stepped inside. It was a small one floor shack. No real places to hide and the only inhabitant seemed to have deceased long ago. Gar exited. One door left. He turned his head to find a group of revenants sealing off his exit. “I guess this is why it’s called a dead end.” Gar figured he could make an escape plan after he was done with his chase. He made his way to the final door, placing a hand on the knob and trying to open it. The door was locked tight. The pirate took this as a sign that the person he was looking for was inside. Gar raised his axe and swung it at the knob, destroying it and its interior locking mechanism. With a breath and a push, the door slowly creaked open.

Aeos was successful in drawing the attention of the larger undead monster. If he remembered correctly monsters like this were often leaders of the bunch. While he did not know who or what spawned the undead he did know that their coordination is reduced when the leader dies. Again. His mind struggled to remember the actual name of the monster. It had something to do with tombs. He shook his head. This was not the right time for him to be thinking about its name. He knew he had to kill it and kill it quickly.
The monster sloshed over at the home that Aeos was currently roosting on. He still had plenty of shingles to use as ammunition against the demon. Lets squash it. The voice in his stone spoke. And Aeos agreed. He prepared himself to jump. He closed his eyes and briefly self assessed himself. He estimated about five minutes worth of power as a fully changed dragon before he would over exhaust the power of his stone. After that he would be a sitting duck. Perhaps five minutes would be all he needed. From his point of view he only needed to kill the boss. The quickest way he could think of was just crushing it with the full power and weight of his dragon form. The entombed body was once formerly human. Even with the dark magic coursing through it’s veins giving it life, it’s skeletal structure was breakable.
He opened his eyes and took a deep breath. Consequences be damned. This monster needed to be stopped. And so, he jumped. He lept into the air and changed. Aeos dragon form was giant. And just as he predicted the entombed was crushed under the dragon’s massive weight. The buildings that surrounded the area were also crushed or destroyed in the sudden appearance of the dragon. Normally, he’d celebrate this destruction and triumph with a victory roar. But, the transformation hurt. He was pushed to the very limits of his stone’s power. He couldn’t stay here. He couldn’t risk detransformation and having his human form exposed. He needed to leave. He needed to fly.
The dune colored dragon did it’s best to try and move its wings. But, they felt so heavy. So very heavy and stiff. It was as if he felt them to be encased in ice. The dragon winced as pushed past it and move. Three… minutes.. The area around his body was swiftly engulfed in a small vortex of wind. Enough to kick up dust and light debris in order to help hide his massive form as it took off. Two.. The adrenaline was starting to wear off at this point. Try as he might he could not muster the strength to become air born. One minute.. The vortex of wind around his body briefly picked up in strength as if it responded to his desperation. And then everything just stopped. The dragon in the middle of the mild wind vortex was once again human. His strength was spent. He was crouched down onto his knees and quietly flopped to his side. The dust settled around him and darkness greeted his vision.
OOC- Vortex of wind is non lethal to humans. Think of it like a very brief dust storm. Assume that the fallen debris and buildings from one of Aeos limbs knocked around the monsters blocking Gar’s path. Or Gar made it into the building before the transformation.

The door before him was open. Gar took a step inside, again it was dark. The pirate began to take another when the ground beneath his feet trembled. Gar’s sea legs kept him standing, but he certainly didn’t expect the earth to rock to and fro like the deck of a ship. There were sounds of creaking and snapping coming from within the building. The sounds were continuously growing and Gar realized the situation he was in. The pirate turned and dove out of the building before it came crashing down. A thunderous collapse sent dust and debris in Gar’s direction.
After the dust had settled the pirate rose to examine his situation. At his front was the mob of revenants many of whom had been knocked down by the quake. Gar looked over his shoulder to see the mass of wood, stone and other construction materials laid in a pile. He sheathed his axe. “Well if the source was in there, it’s not getting out now.” Fortunately enough, now that the building had fallen, the pirate could exit the alley without having to fight through the horde.
Gar traversed the rubble and wreckage, halfway lost in though. Man what is going on with this town? The dead come to life, my friend freaks out and runs from me, the earth shakes, buildings come crashing down on my target. What’s next? As if an answer to his question a gust of wind picked up. Gar ducked down and covered his eyes from the dust that was being swept up. It was reminiscent of the wind spirits’ tomb in Nabata, but smaller. After it died down, Gar continued over the mass of debris into the street.
There were signs of destruction throughout the area. Houses had fallen, benches were removed from the ground. The area was decimated by a force Gar had no familiarity with. The pirate entered the destroyed area to find a person lying in its center. He approached, cautiously. Gar knelt beside the person and nudged him on the shoulder. Gar was simultaneously relieved and concerned by what he saw.
“Aeos? Wake up! What happened to you?”

Darkness once again. There was no dreaming. No falling. No sensation. No sound. There was no bond between body and soul. Even the mental voice of his dragon stone was silent and it had a comment for almost everything. This strange death like sleep was accompanied with subtle signs of life. His body was mostly limp save for a few places near his neck where one could see the faint beating of a pulse. His body was pale but warm. His breath was slow but steady. If one were to check on his eyes by holding the eyelids open, they could see that they were rolled up. With most of the white part showing in places where there should be color.
Aeos had overdone it. He used far too much energy in the attacks and pushed his body to it's limits. The unconsciousness was like a fail safe. It left him in this vulnerable state, in order to prevent him from using up any more energy. Perhaps if this was the time before the scouring or if he was stronger he might still be conscious. He had no wounds on his body nor any internal damage. Aeos would recover in time.
The dragon man could not hear his companion. He could not hear the shuffling of his footsteps. He could not acknowledge his touch or sense his presence. If he could, he would say something. Something like “let's get out of here” or "What the hell hit me?" He could not stay there. They could not stay here. The monsters would recover and rip them to pieces. There were things in his surroundings that could help in the escape. A wheel barrel that had survived the swirling force of the wind. Aeos body could be thrown on it and carted away. There was some rope that could to be used as a harness and he could be dragged away.

Gar relied upon the skills he had been taught. Check the pulse and breath. It was basic first aid but Gar hadn’t had to implement it in any real scenario until now. The pirate determined that Aeos was alive and he let out a sigh of relief. “What am I supposed to do with you?” The thought reminded him of an old sea shanty he would sing when a mate was passed out from drinking too much. Gar turned his head to the noises of revenants crawling out of the woodwork. It was time they got moving, but Aeos was quite clearly not in any condition to walk. Perhaps the pirate could have dragged the Nabatan to a cart or found another way to transport him, but Gar took a more direct method. He grabbed around the man’s waist and heaved him up over his shoulder.
Junzentaru had a few concerns about carrying Aeos. Are you certain this is a good idea? He may still be under the influence of the corruption. Perhaps we should take care of him while we have the chance. Gar made a face at his weapon, giving it a raised eyebrow. June. Aeos is my friend and for now at least, he’s harmless. I plan on sticking with him until he comes to and if he’s still dangerous… Revenants were drawing nearer forcing Gar to cut the conversation short and begin to jog out of the town.
Gar eventually got out of the town with Aeos in tow. He entered the nearby mountains and set Aeos down against a fallen tree. The pirate took to setting up camp and starting a fire to keep the area warm. His eyes turned to the fallen town. He took a breath and spoke to himself more than anyone else. “Glad we made it out of there alive. I don’t think I’d make a very pretty zombie.” Gar sat by the fire and allowed his mind to free itself of the concerns of the desecrated village.
