"What? No. That's stupid. Do I LOOK like I have a giant lizard head or am 20 feet tall to you?" Jeeze, ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer. Lafiel crossed her arms under her breasts, looking almost insulted by the comparison. EVERYONE knew dragons were giant ugly lizard things where lamias were much sleeker and sexier and had human bits. She supposed she couldn't blame Nayru for not knowing any better, but really, she didn't look ANYTHING like the dragons in the pictures, so obviously she wasn't a dragon. Gosh Nayru get it together. "Dragons are cool though. Does Elibe have dragons still? Did that whole war thing you guys had going on blow over? I always kinda wondered who won, or if you kissed and made up. Uh, metaphorically, I don't think the logistics of that really works on a literal - nevermind."
It was interesting that Remus didn't know about Taguel at all though, she had always assumed that they would live on in Elibean legend, like Elibe had lived on in their legend. Then again, Lafiel hadn't been alive then, so for all she knew Elibe hadn't given a god damn about Taguel at the time anyways and didn't even notice they were gone. Who knew? "Most knowledge about the dragon-human war - is that what you meant by 'Scouring?' - is classified to hell so I only really know bits and pieces, but apparently Taguel left somewhere in that timeframe, dunno why. We have some legends saying that a great hero led us from danger, blabla, my theory is that we just got while the getting is good. Taguel have never really been a warlike race, so I guess the Taguel of the time didn't want anything to do with that clusterfuck."
It was the explanation that had always made the most sense to her, anyways. All snake tribe shenanigans aside, while Taguel were a bunch of egomaniacs and lunatics, they really didn't do 'war' on a grand scale - tribal fighting was constant, but for the most part it wasn't really a war of extermination, just testing their strength against each other. Harmless... ish... well not really, but it wasn't like every bear was dedicated to killing every bird that had ever lived or anything. Taguel SUCKED at organization, she couldn't see the entire race ever fighting in a 'proper' war.

On the bright side, being mad now didn't mean that she had to fight back her emotions or worry about turning into a giant murder dragon. So Nayru could be legitimately grateful for that; it showed both personal growth and maturation, as well as the purification of her essence into a more suitable form. Sure, it was a work in progress, but the dragon was honestly pretty happy about that overall. It made her feel like not everything she had done in the last year had been a waste - that there were real, tangible benefits to her growth, not just some meaningless lip service, and not even just raw power. Control was always what she had lacked more than power, and while she had gradually realized she needed more power - her power - it wasn't the only goal.
On the down side, she really, really wanted to punch the pink cunt right in her stupid pink face.
Nayru didn't hate humans in the way that many Scouring survivors did, nor did she focus heavily on the events of that genocide, but... she was still a dragon, and hate had never been far from her heart, as she had learned the hard way many times in the last few centuries. While she did have much better control of her emotions now, the all too familiar bubbling heat rising within her, the tightening of her chest, was not exactly a fond memory, and the lamia's casually making light of the events of the Scouring did not sit well with her at all.
Even if it was fairly clear that it wasn't exactly meant as an anti-dragon sentiment, more the inane ramblings of a girl who honestly didn't know any better and was just trying to be funny, it didn't make it any better. Elly had said some equally stupid things back on that rooftop in Ilia and the dragon had nearly belted her on the spot for it. And she'd LIKED Elly. Here too, Nayru didn't want to go off the handle, but she didn't have any great ideas on how NOT to if she just kept getting more annoyed.
"...I'm going on ahead," she stated shortly, turning and walking briskly down the bridge, the pale, ghostly light of each set of braziers lighting her way as she parted from Remus's illumination. Nayru didn't have any delusions about exploring the rest of the ruins in the dark, she still needed Remus for that, but she didn't need to be here for this right now.

Now. Most people would've sensed the offense taken in Nayru's perspective. This was however, Remus. A guy who believed smiling wider could solve a stab wound. His world famous solution to everything was a warm smile and a friendly tone. So naturally, he didn't actually recognize the insult which could possibly be perceived as a phrase and tone so obviously meant for light hearted moments. That, and he found her kind words afterwards further proof that no ill will was intended.
Though this technically confirmed Nayur's theory that the Taguel hadn't been around for the end result of the scouring. Perhaps he'd give her context, but as the priest opened his mouth, Nayru spoke up and quickly stepped ahead of them. This left Remus quietly walking along-side Lafiel with him clutching his staff with his left hand while his right hung idle. He walked along the snake's left, now walking directly down the center of the bridge while he saw the ghostly blue flames of the brazier's ignite from her walking ahead. The soft blue light was still useful with his brighter more radiant hue which lit the path further ahead more noticeably.
Nayru seemed upset for some reason? More gruff.
Maybe she was feeling claustrophobic? The priest quietly nodded in Nayru's back-facing direction while smiling brightly before turning to look to the pink haired Lamia who he moved along-side. He quietly rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly with his right hand while gazing to the female snek with a warm chuckle and a bit of an abashed tone.
"So..what do you hope to find here? I'm curious, given how much you already know about Taguel culture and history? I mean, I admit I do hope we can find what ever it is you search for. "
He nodded with a bit of enthusiasm though continued to make sure none of the light went out while waiting on her answer.

So Queen Bitch just walked off and Blueberry didn't even try to answer her question. Lafiel felt justified in being a bit huffy about that; it wasn't like she had insulted either of them, they were obviously human anyways. Though... maybe discussing dragons was taboo in human culture now or something? The lamia wasn't sure if that supported the 'dragons were all dead' version the 'humans and dragons now do the nasty together regularly' school of thought more. While her mood had definitely taken a drop, signaled by a growl of frustration and furrowed eyebrows, as was her wont Lafiel recovered quickly and bounced back to the subject at hand, more or less.
Meh. Just because SOME people couldn't answer a question didn't mean she couldn't be gracious, as befitted a beautiful hostess like herself. Yeah. Kill 'em with kindness, as the saying went! Lafiel wasn't entirely sure why she would be killing anyone, or what kindness had to do with it, but obviously she was the adult here so it only made sense to be mature about things. "Well, ideally, I'd like to find out why the Snake Tribe abandoned the temple, given how important it once was. I hadn't really planned on, uh, getting abandoned here, so I don't have much planned beyond that point." She shrugged, the curving twist of the motion matching the gentle swaying of her torso as she slithered along beside the priest. "I always kinda wanted to come here just to see what it was like, though. It's just forbidden territory."
Leaning in a bit closer to Remus and lowering her body a bit to be closer to his height, she continued in a bit of a lower tone. "So hey, anyways, what's the deal with dragons? Elibe still has them, right? Have you ever seen one? Are they really as big as legends say?" It wasn't like information about dragons was specifically sealed per se, but there simply wasn't much to be found - not like they had a bunch of dragon corpses lying around to take measurements. Or any willing subjects, really, least as far as she knew. She didn't know if she wanted to actually deal with one one, but the idea of actually meeting a being from legend was METAL AS HELL and the lamia felt no shame whatsoever in holding fast to that opinion. For all the fancy secrets the Snake Tribe had, they didn't really go out and experience them in person much these days.

So many questions to answer! So much to say! First, he'd have to go back to her original question. Perhaps it was from the confusion and excitement, but he'd never answered it. What was it precisely? Ah yes. First. Taguel and the lack there of on Vinland. Though the priest continued to residual channel small vestiges of magic to his palm so he could cast a light upon the lengthy darkness, he still spoke up with an excited tone. The closeness the female Lamia had taken to aside him was almost unnoticed in this excitement and in light of their new excitements. His tone reverberated quietly in the dark expanse with his eyes alight in the dancing blue incandescence.
"Ah. Um. So going to the start, where you first asked about dragons and war. Well..your right on the name of it. It was known as a terrible conflict. One that Elibe never fully recovered from. Humanity was on the brink of loss until eight powerful humans known as the Eight Heroes led a turning point. They wielded eight sacred treasures, powerful weapons that were supposed to be able to defeat dragons with astonishing ease. The war..."
Here he paused. Thinking of Nayru for a moment, and remembering his promise, he continued without shifting his tone and adjusted his mentality so that he was speaking of the tale as if he was telling any other human of lesser understanding of historical context.
"led to the destruction of Dragon Kind. The eight heroes then settled the various territories which still stand to this day. Elibe is fairly...xenophobic of the notion of dragons and other things as we have a bit of a monster problem currently. Dark creatures. Spawn of the nether, that haunt the corners of the world. Honestly, not much is known about Dragons by our standard. We have information to a degree that they were extremely powerful. One dragon was said to best an entire platoon of soldiers. This would've made the Eight Heroes literally one man armies. Ah.."
He paused as she leaned in to ask him about the real deal on dragons. Remus wasn't comfortable lying, but his affinity to wear a genuine smile made it shockingly easy as he frowned briefly in the sincerity of his words. At this point, he spoke truth.
"I've never seen a Dragon as they look by the historical stand point. I could tell you how I've dreamt of it. Truly. Humanity is so terrified of that it doesn't understand, I'd longed to meet them and learn from such a vastly different being. However aside from a few vague rumors about an incident in the nation of Bern once, there are no indications Dragon's survived the Scouring."
The frown vanished after a moment as he warmly smiled to the female humanoid-snake-woman with a warm chuckle. His gaze leveled directly at her.
"Then again we didn't know Taguel existed either! I may have been one of the first humans to learn of an entire race that was lost in the annuals of history. So to hear that so many cultures exist...it makes me feel anything could be possible! It gives me hope for the future, hahah!"

Lafiel slunk along beside her newfound source of information, ready and willing to wring him dry. Of, uh, information. Not blood. That would be weird. Hmmhmmhmm. So the Scouring WAS the great war spoken of in mythology. Neither of the humans had actually answered her damn question, but Remus's explanation and usage of the word pretty well settled that question. So dragons were all dead. Huh. The lamia vaguely felt like she should feel bad for them, but it was hard to really attach some ancient history to emotion. Whatever had happened, HAD happened - a long time ago - and there wasn't much point in getting wussy about it. Just grains of sand through the hourglass.
It did feel a little wrong to not actually feel much of anything about it, though. Hearing these horrible tales of genocide... but it was so far away and irrelevant to the Taguel that she couldn't really think much more of it. Really, the only thing she actually felt was a sense of loss that she wouldn't be able to question a dragon about what living so long was like - lamia were incredibly long lived by Taguel standards, but dragons could supposedly live for countless centuries, even millennia. Talk to an old enough one, and it'd literally be like seeing history through the eyes of someone who had been there - all of it.
She was still listening to Remus but Lafiel withdrew somewhat to run her fingers through the ghostly flames in the torches at their side, curious to see if she felt anything. She'd wanted to do that since she got carried in here and thought they were the coolest thing ever. Too bad she couldn't just rip one out of the floor and take it with her, a torch that could turn on on demand would be super handy. Huh. It still surprised her there was apparently no information about Taguel on Elibe, though. "Well, that's a pity," the lamia said without much real sorrow in her voice, swerving closer to the priest with her grand mission accomplished, convinced further that magic was bullshit. "I'm sure there would've been a lot of knowledge to glean if there were some left. Oh, hey, queen ice b... Nayru... is over there!"
The switch in tones from neutral to upbeat was almost as jarring as her realization had been, but yea, assuming she hadn't gone senile in her old age, the darker skinned woman was waiting at the end of the path as they approached it. "Cool, I assumed she'd fallen into the pit or something."

Cool, I assumed she'd fallen into the pit or something.
This elicited a soft chuckle from Remus. Not out of the negativity to it, but the fact that Nayru was the most likely person to survive in such environments that he could imagine. A notion he voiced a moment later as they walked along the end of the lengthy stone bridge. His tones still echoing with ghostly touches into the vast abyss beyond that his light could not quite breach while shining outwards.
"Haha, honestly, I think Nayru could live in dangerous conditions better than anyone I've met through out Elibe. In-fact, she's the reason I'm alive from many many different circumstances! Heh."
His gaze drifted to Nayru who stood a fair few steps ahead of them yet he felt as if she was at his side. He chuckled a moment longer before a thought struck him. He turned to look at this pink haired hostess they'd just rescued, with a curious expression while still permeating the aura of light from his staff to compliment the passively igniting and defusing flames that added additional soft radiance.
"So I guess my question for you, since your people have been removed from the on-goings on Elibe for at-least a thousand years is thus. Do you have much information on how Elibe was prior to the Scouring? Such as, perhaps, what the results were from having three races living together on one continent or how Dragon and Human culture had interacted with one another? Any information I can acquire would greatly help me come to the understanding I admittedly crave over the entire situation."

"Yeah, well, I bet SHE hasn't survived five days of absolute solitude with absolutely no mental illness developing," snek shot back with a sing-song, slightly aggrieved tone, inexplicably somewhat annoyed at how big and tough ms. ice queen supposedly was. She was a survivor too, dammit!
Minor, unimportant concerns like the irrelevant fact that she had never spent a night out alone in the wilderness, or that she had no idea how to track anything moving, or that she knew more about books than people who WEREN'T as crazy as a normal lamia (which was pretty crazy) didn't even occur to her, for obvious reasons. Because they were irrelevant and didn't matter and didn't mean SHE couldn't do any of that, it just meant that, uh, she didn't feel like it. Which was perfectly okay! Just as long as she wasn't hallucinating these people, which seemed very unlikely because if she was, they would be nicer, and probably either her minions or an army of extremely handsome men, or maybe both at once, there was no rule against that!
Fortunately her mouth worked better than her brain, so in the midst of her delusions she got around to responding to Remus's question anyways, the small part of her brain that wanted nothing to do with the rest of it helpfully supplying information. "Not a lot, sorry." She smiled winningly at Remus, or maybe that was apologetically, she got the two mixed up sometimes. "Mostly just the generics. Humans and dragons lived in peace, taguel lived on the outskirts and did taguel things, eventually everything went to heck. I don't know much of anything about how dragons and humans interacted, buuuuut if we can find those archives maybe we can find out. Supposedly a lot of our history of Elibe was lost when the snake tribe abandoned this temple, and it's probably still here."

A few minutes to herself, powerwalking to the end of the walkway and then feeling sorry for herself in the dark, had given Nayru something resembling a more peaceful state of mind, or at least less of an urge to punch things. Similar to the incident with Elly, the reaction had been intense but short(ish) lasting, a burst of raw emotion swiftly drowned in the avalanche of reason. Much as Elly hadn't really meant that all dragons should be killed, Lafiel... probably... hadn't actually meant anything harmful with her commentary, given that she obviously didn't know much of anything about dragons or have any obvious grudge against them. Perhaps the poisoned, innate distrust of Elibe had governed her reaction more than logic. The Taguel, if they all cared as little or less than this girl about the grudges of Elibe, could be a powerful neutral force - not exactly a safe haven, but at least not actively looking to kill dragons.
For maybe the first time, the idea of just staying here, in a world where she could train to her heart's content and fight as much as she wanted without being hunted down just for what she was, occurred to Nayru. It was something she would normally have ruthlessly quashed, but just the... idea of it stuck with her for longer than it normally would have, and that fact took the dragon aback for a moment. Even though it meant abandoning Veigue and his quest, protecting Remus, finding answers about the truth of her existence... Nayru realized that it was an actual decision, not just an idle flight of fancy. In another world, another her, she might very well have taken it at face value, and perhaps even been happier for it.
"I guess we'd better find those archives then," she said instead.
There was nothing wrong with spending time here, and Nayru hoped to spend more when she had the chance... but she couldn't commit to it now. She had her pet projects to look out for, her promise with Veigue, and a great deal of work to do before she could afford to give up entirely on Elibe. So for now, she should probably just focus on the task at hand - on learning something useful - and they'd burn that bridge when they came to it.

Remus became quietly lost in thought when Lafiel began to elaborate on what was supposed to be within the archives of this monstrous temple. It evoked a sense of monstrosity that he hadn't felt within a building prior. Truly, to have such a gargantuan construct and yet have it..abandon. It was incomprehensible. Especially if it was a vast repository of ageless knowledge. He was surprised that Lafiel had been the first to try and sneak in. Though..technically she hadn't said she was the first at any point, had she? She'd likely just been the last to be caught. Even so, if she hadn't been the first, given what she told them of her culture's propensity to horde knowledge...it was likely they would never share the historical details of their visit. Boy..sure was feeling awfully Etruria. The priest tilted his head upon hearing Nayru's inquiry, the priest was roused from thought, not standing with Lafiel closer to the female dragon. The priests eyes alight from a combination of both his own light from the staff, and the dancing shades reflecting from the torches to the side and behind.
He flashed a warm smile before chuckling. The lapis haired priest tapping the wooden butt of the staff lightly on the ground twice after picking up the pace slightly, speaking inclusively as to ensure Nayru was brought into the conversation. The notion of her walking ahead quietly and alone did not sit well with him. Not in a dark quiet place like this. In actuality she was probably enjoying solitude in quiet thoughts, but with no way to know this, the priest would at-least give opportunity for her to add input to the question. That, and he knew that her knowledge and passion for history could possibly bring relevance or light on any of the mysteries they spoke of. The Priest's words thoughtfully worded to add a questioning tone, despite not directly asking a question towards either of the two females he traversed the dark of the temple with.
"It seems odd that a vast repository of knowledge like this would exist, yet Elibe would not have some such thing within it's landscape somewhere. I realize that humanity has actively tried to isolate, alter, destroy, or horde it on Elibe but it just strikes me as..I suppose surprised that we could manage to find every haven of it and well..taint it. Ah..I say surprised..but I guess I should also say saddened. If these archives are as vast as this place is compared to the other buildings I've seen in my life-time..I can't fathom just how much knowledge is here. Truly..this island is a place of wonders. So much of it is...new..to us. Fascinating, or unknown, or unsure, potentially endless questions answered. That's gotta be something..."
Though he effectively pondered aloud, he was curious as to Lafiel's potential elaborations if she did know more about the archives, and more so he wondered if Nayru had any inclination. If she'd seen anything prior that might hint as to the focus of the knowledge reservoir they sought, or it's contents at-least.

"It is kinda weird." Lafiel shrugged, a rippling curve that rolled across her shoulders and chest and waist and down her tail, or maybe that was just natural movement, the sinuous smoothness made it hard to tell. "I mean, you guys are the experts on Elibe here, not me, but you'd think there'd be SOMETHING. You sure you haven't looked hard enough?"
She giggled, swaying a little to the right as she laughed into her hand coquettishly. Not that Lafiel of all people would ever make any attempt to grab a guy's attention. But unfortunately she was rapidly learning that Remus was either incredibly good at pretending not to notice her advances or... incredibly good at actually not noticing them at all. She wasn't sure whether to be offended or impressed, honestly, so the snek just settled for a mental shrug and moving on. He'd notice her eventually. For now he seemed more interested in the knowledge in the Archives, and she could definitely empathize with that! "It's funny that we all feel the same way isn't it? Considering that... it's Snake Tribe knowledge, but of Elibe. So each of us has a 'claim' to it. It's like the start of an adventure! The great heroine gets her sidekic... I mean..."
The irrepressible lamia at least had the decency to look slightly embarrassed, though it didn't seem to have gone very deep or been exceptionally genuine given. "The THREE totally different heroes of the story, all with mysterious backgrounds, meet up in a dark and shadowed ruin, searching for ancient knowledge of a forgotten civilization, to save the world from..." She shrugged again. "Well, maybe you guys have some badass doomsday legends. There isn't much of that going around here honestly, just dumbass cats and dogs fighting over who has the bigger di... territory..."
Honestly, she only just had to keep talking to make herself look even more like an uncouth, vapid halfwit... or an overly excitable teenager. "Come ON haven't you guys ever read a book? This is like Adventuring 101~!"

Had she...?
Nayru wanted to sigh at the necessity of it, but despite her misgivings she delved back into the labyrinth of her memories, all too aware of how disorienting it could be but driven by mounting curiosity. The dragon was fairly sure there wasn't anything super huge and critically important about the subject, she'd remember easily if there was a legendary prophecy on the subject. But there WAS something vaguely familiar about some of these runes. She couldn't quite place it though, at first she'd even brushed it off as a coincidence, but Nayru had lived long enough to know that a lot of 'coincidences'... weren't.
So as the conversation washed over and around and through her, inane babble about history that normally she would have been quite willing to join, she simply walked in silence, lost within herself to the point that she could hardly remember there was even an exit. Immersed in a thousand scenes from history. Her history. Or at least, the her of then. Slipping into your own mind didn't sound like much of a feat, but when you were trying to insert yourself into the mind of a 'you' who had lived hundreds of years ago, one with a very different mindset and understanding of the world, a Nayru who did not know the joy of combat or the love of growth, a scared and lonely girl who was bitter and angry at herself more than anyone else...
Well. It wasn't a good part of her life, and Nayru didn't like remembering herself that way. But she had to, and now the her of now could see just how lonely the her of then had been, how desperate she had been for human companionship even as she shoved it away. It was funny how sometimes, to really look inside yourself, you had to step outside yourself. In her case... almost literally.
But she wasn't just feeling sorry for herself, past or present. In some ways Nayru was surrounding herself in a second layer of blather as she herself dived deeper through the current of memory, the endless, inevitable tide of information and sights and sounds and thoughts and concepts of her own past, glancing through as many musty cave walls and dark ruins as she had ever seen in her life, searching for matches.
And there were a few.
"I've seen these runes before," the dragon stated abruptly, having lost track of the conversation entirely and more focused on trying to pull herself out of herself than on what Lafiel and Remus thought of her interruption. And it was... difficult. The second layer of silliness had helped though, reminded her that there WAS an overarching self of each of the scenes she had revisited. For therein was the eternal danger - losing herself in those memories so thoroughly that she forgot there was anything else. It hadn't happened yet, but sometimes it took... longer to come back, and she'd always feared, even if she never quite admitted it to herself, that some day she might not come back at all, or that worse, another version of her would come back instead.
"Only a few times. But in some older ruins. There was one in Lycia. Tania I think. Two in Bern. One in Nabata. All buried far beneath the surface. Untouched by man. I assumed they were from an even older civilization, but - what are these runes called Lafiel? Are they your language?" She motioned to something on the walls, some message she could not decipher.

The priest couldn't help but laugh at Lafiel's shift in tone. Though her embarrassment was visible, her attempt to cover it up with a splash of emotion so visibly familiar to him had the priest feeling a bit more at home. After all, between Nayru and Amelia, he was used to two ladies being goofy or strange. Though them not double teaming him allowed for an easier transition in conversation. It gave a levity that was almost certainly abnormal for deep dangerous lethal trap filled murder temples, but at the same time...it was that very aspect that made him feel a bit less threatened within the confines of dark merciless stone walls where traps could very well be masked away.
His eyes now fully acclimating to the permeating luminous magic that lit their way, both his and the brazier's prior, the priest could see with far greater ease in the dark. That, and his eyes had recovered from the brief irritation from the burning pillar of light he'd called down upon to free the female snake Taguel from her magical prison. Which, still fascinated him. The complexity of her magical bindings had greatly intrigued him, but he also realized that was insensitive to even imagine bringing up at that moment. However while he moved aside Lafiel, the priest took more notice to her. He hadn't really taken a look at her beyond the shock value of "Hey, that person is half snake half human!"
If anything, like he had with Nayru, he was trying to find caveat's of her human figure. Though she visibly had animalistic aspects. Scanning along the fairly flawless complexion down her shoulders, where pink hair fell like a cascading flow of pink silken threads to well rounded shoulders. No signs of scales, or patches where skin was different. However, the rest of her body seemed to have motion about it. Curves that moved perpetually with a rhythmic pattern, even as her body moved in unanimous cycles; with his gaze scanning from her shoulders, to her mammaries, to her arms, to her hips before drifting back up as he notice that she looked flawlessly like a human. Again...minus the snake part. The blue haired priest turned his gaze back ahead as he pondered upon the rising number of individuals he was learning were not human, but who's bodies flawlessly resembled it where intended.
That said, he audibly chuckled and flashed a warm smile to the pink haired serpentine female before retorting to her assertions of the three heroes and the great danger they would avert. "Ahaha..well..I don't explore much so I couldn't say about the ancient stores of knowledge on Elibe but as for troubles? Wellll...we have war..and monsters. A lot of monsters lately. Fiends who seem to be associated in some way with the nether. Quite ghastly really...ah..Hm?"
He paused abruptly while Nayru began to speak. Taking in her every word while she began to speak of having seen the runes, and citing just where she'd seen them before. Honestly? A small part of him was grateful to know there were some ruins man-kind had managed not to completely muck up. It was a nice change of pace. Since well..usually they did just that. However as not to interrupt, he turned to gaze at the pink haired snek once more, so he could see what she said as well.

Jeeze, no love for the art of, er, art. Writing. Whatever. Lafiel couldn't help but be a little salty that apparently neither of them liked her story idea. Ok... saltier than the ocean, but it didn't matter THAT much, they were just mongols who didn't appreciate real genius. Unfortunately for her righteous fury she forgot about it fairly quickly on account of the fact that she wasn't very good at staying mad at people when there was more interesting stuff to slither headfirst into. That was probably her favorite thing about legs, you could actually make jumping jokes, good f**k**g luck jumping all that far with a couple hundred pounds of snake ass. Uh... anyways.
Queen Angry the Second finally deigned to rejoin them after zoning out for a bit, and actually had something to contribute to the conversation. For once. Damn, she was mean today. Did she wake up on the wrong side of bed, or was it FIVE DAYS OF BEING TIED UP AND LEFT TO DIE, or did she just not like Nayru? Eh, no rule saying it had to be only one of those. But Lafiel didn't like not understanding things, and she felt like there was... something wrong with the other woman, or with her own perception of the her, or... something. Could just be she seemed to get along with Remus well, though that was unlikely, it was pretty clear they didn't have a 'bang each other like a bongo drum' sort of barely-repressed-lust angle going on.
Oh right contributions. So there WAS some evidence of them on Elibe. Or maybe not. Lafiel almost jumped to that conclusion before catching herself, realizing it wasn't... necessarily a sure thing, even if it was a reasonable and likely answer. "It's called either High Runic or Old Realm... kind of a dead language. I doubt there are five Taguel alive who know it, aside from the Snake Tribe of course. To be honest though, I'm not sure if we came up with it or just borrowed it - I heard that both names are just different translations of the original name, or maybe that Old Realm is the spoken version and High Runic is the runic alphabet? No one knows how you're supposed to pronounce it though, or at least I don't, so Iunno what the deal with it is. But reading it is kind of a lamia thing, we've used it at least since the Scouring era, possibly much longer."
All silliness aside, Lafiel was in her element and happy to explain. She was the sort who uh, wouldn't exactly do well as a school teacher, she didn't have a great deal of patience for people who were just there to waste everyone's time, but when it came to those who actually wanted to learn she could be surprisingly patient, without even a need for the qualifier of 'for her.' And it wasn't like she got to talk to that many people who hadn't woken up on the wrong side of the bed for the last 80 years straight. So there was that too. "And you're talking about monsters right? We have a bunch of those but they usually don't bother anyone. Well, unless they're hungry, but you could say the same for most taguel, and neither group is dumb enough to step up to the slithering sexy... smenaces," you could almost FEEL the crestfallen pain in her soul as her attempt at alliteration went awry, "Monsters have nothing to do with the Nether, though so maybe it's not the same thing."

High Runic. Old Realm. Did those names mean anything to her? Some ancient mother tongue, the language of the first dragons, the words of the mother of monsters? Not off the top of her head. It was possible there was something lodged further inside her mind, but nothing came to mind immediately, and in the middle of a conversation wasn't the best time to go diving back inside herself. Interesting that not even Lafiel - their sole, unreliable source of information - knew the true origins of the language, or even its true name for that matter. The theory of written versus spoken was intriguing, but impossible to test, given that none of them knew what the spoken language was even like.
"Whatever the case, its rarity among Elibe's ruins does suggest a limited, and centralized, base. It could have been your Snake Tribe. I can at least state with some degree of certainty that it is not common among the ruins of Elibe." Heh, and there weren't many people that could dare to gainsay that statement. She wasn't necessarily the best informed dragon ever, but she DID do a lot of spelunking, that was for god damn sure.
It was difficult to tell if the lamia was... poorly informed on the origins of monsters or simply working off a very different set of information, possibly linked to the island's differences from Elibe, so Nayru swallowed the snarky retort that had risen to her tongue and ruthlessly drowned it in the waters of politeness. "Perhaps the creatures of Vinland bear different origins, but those of Elibe are linked heavily to the Nether, and through it the Arum." There was no questioning in her words, no uncertainty born of incomplete knowledge. Nayru didn't know every aspect of the truth, but she knew that much at least, and thought it wise to make the difference clear. If nothing else, it might keep Lafiel from doing anything especially stupid if she ever happened to come to Elibe.
Nayru didn't particularly want to go too much further down that line of thought. The pink menace seemed the type to become hell bent on visiting Elibe, and she better than most knew about how well Elibe took to other races... especially those with reptilian aspects. Even if Elibe as a whole was uncharacteristically accepting of the bestial Tribes, it was unlike that the Snake would receive as warm of a welcome, especially further away from concentrated civilization where they would very possibly just outright be mistaken for dragons.
Then again, they hadn't really been taught to hate. Maybe it would actually be safer there.
