"So what is next", spoke the General to himself as he sat at a back table fondling his half empty cup of mead. It had been some time since the rebellion had won and Bern itself was once again whole. With the victory of the Rebellion Euphemious had completed his part in his families plan to restore there lost honor. Now everything was up to his two cousins. It was now there job to work the politics now that the fighting was over. For once Euphemious was free from his duties to his family. That freedom gave him greater mobility and offered him a chance to see the world, but at the same time it made him a bit lost. His entire life he was focused toward one goal and now his part in that goal was complete. In all shapes and forms Euphemious was free and he had no idea how to handle it.
"Maybe I need to find a new profession", spoke the General to himself. He looked down to his side and saw his ancestral axe. The dragon axe held the symbol of the Lowlander family on it, the symbol he worked so hard to restore. Next to the axe was a thick leather bag that bulged under both the weight and size of its continence. Sticking out of the corner was a blacken steel gauntlet, just a piece of Euphemious entire armor set. Today Euphemious was not playing the knight. He was simply the guy in the back of the bar. He wore a black tank top and a pair of black slacks. His black leather boots completed his monotone look and gave him a bit of a edgy feeling. His corded muscle which were once hidden by the thickness of his steel could now be seen clearly.
"I wonder if he is going to show up", spoke Euphemious as he leaned back into his chair. He had sent a letter to his friend over two months ago. The letter was far from brief, it held a lot of important and stupid information. However near the end Euphemious spoke about meeting up in the City of Heroes. He had decided that he wanted to visit this place and he was sure his friend would like it as well. The city had a long history and strong people. Euphemious had promised his friend Flynn that he would see it once the war was over and now he was here. Though he had lost contact with his friend he still enjoyed the idea of seeing it with another. Though he wondered if it would be safe enough. His friend was not one to get into trouble, but the City of Heroes did not seem like the best place to be for a outsider. Since Euphemious had came to the city he has been getting a few sideways looks. This could be due to the fact that he was from Bern. That he made clear at the gate and had no intention of hiding, or it may have something to do with him have a familiar look to another fellow who seemed to caused them trouble in the past. He heard a lot about a dark skinned giant, but Euphemious had put it away.

There were few things in the world that drove Aeos away from his exploration of Vinland. Things like, his folks calling for him to come home. Vast cataclysmic damages to his home land. Bi-annual shark fishing in Khan Yunis. A reunion with a good friend. He was ecstatic when Euphemious words reached him in Aurion and immediately went back to Elibe to meet him. He took the boat back to the mainland as he was not yet confident about flying across the ocean. He did however night fly his way through Elibe's sky in order to reach Sacae. He made sure to stay within clouds or fly when the moon wasn't shining so to better hide himself. He flew high enough to possibly pass as a wyvern once he his Bern. Once at the border though he returned to traveling like a human, by foot.
He had never been to the City of Heroes. Sure he had heard the legends of this place. Founded by a famous Sacean. The site of a terrible battle between man and monsters. A place forged by the will of the people. He saw signs of repair among the dwellings. There was a market with traders of all types selling all manner of food and colorful cloth. The dragon in human guise had no problems with the gate guard. He had the eyes of a tribesmen and the complexion of one who toiled under the sun. Perhaps, they thought of him as some sort of mixed man. Aeos didn't know and to be honest he didn't really care.
He maneuvered through the people hoping to find the inn. When he did he took a deep breath, tucked his hair behind his ears, and entered. His eyes scanned the room and found the armor of his friend. He smiled at the sight and went to join him at the table.
“Euphemious! Man am I glad to see you.”

"Aeos", shouted Euphemious as his friend came into view. It had been far to long since they had last seen each other. Euphemious was sure he would have missed the meeting. So much for his faith in his friends. To be honest thought Euphemious was more worried about the distance than anything. Aeos had been around the world. He had visted exotic lands and seen things that Euphemious could not believe. His letters were quite entertaining. Still Euphemious had a lot to talk to him about. His family situation had turned around and Bern was once again back in the hands of the people of Bern.
"So how have you been", spoke the General as he waved for a waitress to come and take there order. Euphemious had a thousand things he wanted to tell him, and he was sure that Aeos had a thousand things to say in return. To be honest he wanted to hear about this new land. Euphemious wanted to go there, but the rebellion held him in Bern. Now, that he was out of a job, thought it was due to them being victorious, Euphemious could go where he wanted. Maybe he would take a trip there in his free time, but that was a topic for later that evening.
"I will have some roast duck and a glass of ale." As Euphemious spoke a annoyed expression crossed the women's face. What Euphemious did not know was that almost every adventure, who entered the tavern ordered duck. Every, one of them. It was like duck was the constant meal for every man who wondered away from home. They were clean out of duck and she began to wonder if there were any ducks remaining in Bern. The demand for it was unrealistically high.
"Sorry, but we are out of duck", she spoke finally. A puzzled expression crossed Euphemious face.
"Umm", he spoke, not knowing what to order. "How about you order for the both of us Aeos", spoke Euphemious. He was sure Aeos had decent taste. Thought Euphemious did have to question that. He enjoyed Euphemious stew, if the knight remembered. Euphemious was not know to be a cook, but he kept that to himself. At least his cooking had one fan and there was no purpose in ruining that. The only thing left to the General now was to prey that his faith in his friend was not misplaced. There were few things in the world worse than a bad meal. A bad meal stuck with you for life and Euphemious did not want any more of those kind of memories. Though most of his were associated with cooking he had stewed up.
"So how are the parents", asked the General once the ordering was done. "Is your mom doing alright. The last time we spoke she was kind of sick. I hope she recovered well enough. You know the elderly have a hard time getting back onto there feet after being sick for a few days."

Aeos grinned as he took a seat across from the man he called friend. He took note that the armor was mostly intact. It still bore the same marks and dents as he remembered them. Which was good. It meant that Euphemious hadn't gotten into any recent skirmishes. It meant he was living in a relatively safer time.
“I have been great. Euphemious I've met so many new people and made some new friends!” He was practically beaming. He cleared his throat and tried to calm his excitement.
“Uhm.. right. Sorry. I'm just really glad.” There was a faint blush to his cheeks as he glanced down at the table. The waitress probably heard that little emotional outburst too. Euphemious was looking forward to eating duck but it seemed the place did not have any.
“Well that's unfortunate.” He mused aloud.
“Hmm.. how bout some roast lamb?” He knew most Saceans tended to be herders. The plains were perfect for sheep, goats, and horses. Although he assumed most Saceans would frown at the thought of eating horsemeat as the animal was such a vital part of their culture. But, desperate times called for desperate measures. This was neither a desperate time or measure.
“If not that then some breakfast staples like eggs, grits, and bread. I'm sure you must at least have that.” He wanted to give the woman some options. The woman blinked slightly and then went away. Presumably to go fill the order.
“Ah my Mother be well. She's back to her spry self. I saw her a few months ago for the bi annual shark migration.” He nodded.
“She is grateful for thy help with the herbs. My folks would like to meet you one day. They are dying to meet my friends.” He meant that both figuratively and literally. Dragons without stones were not long for this world. Which explained why his parents aged as the years passed instead of remaining eternally fixed in their appearance. The world was slowly killing them.
“Hm.. if I recall I think I sent a gift to you a while back.. I sure hope it got to you.”

"A gift", spoke Euphemious for a moment in confusion. The General did not remember receiving any kind of gift in any of his recent letter. Then again Aeos could have sent it a few months back. It took a while for anything to get to Bern and he could have been fighting in the war when he received it. The General closed his eyes for a moment and then began to think back. His mind was a furry, but something popped up inside of it. "Oh right", he spoke as he reached down and pulled a object out of his bag. The object shinned with a unorthadox light and radiated magic. At first glance it looked like a dagger, but upon further examination one could see that it was a second seal. One of the most primal and powerful items in the world.
"You mean this seal right", spoke Euphemious as he looked at Aeos. The General had received it in the mail a while back, but did not know what to make of it. It was a charming item to have, but just having it at all both made him a target for would be thieves and made him question his lot in life. A second seal was a chance for a warrior to start over. It was a opportunity for them to take on a new vocation as if they had been doing it for years. Such magical items were rare and indeed valuable. When he discovered that he had revived one in the mail, well unnerving was not the word.
"To come upon something like this, you must have had some really crazy adventures since we last meet", spoke Euphemious as the waitress came with there food. The table was a jumbled mess of ingredients. At the center of the table was some roast lamb. Next to it was two bowls of girts and a side of eggs. They had brought out some biscuits and in toe came a bottle of syrup made from honey.
"Enjoy your meal", spoke the waitress as she began to walk away. Euphemious stared at her for a wile as she disappeared to the back. He could not tell if she was being sarcastic or that was just her normal way of speaking. Either way it mattered little. Euphemious needed to put some food in his stomach. Pulling over a bowl of grits Euphemious began to dig in. As almost a after thought he looked up at Aeos and asked a very acquired question. "So have you fond any lady friends", asked the General without skipping a beat in his meal?

Aria glanced over at Euphemious gift. This wasn't what he had sent the general. What he had sent was a quilt his mother made but it seemed the item in question did not reach the general. Aeos frowned softly. A magic seal was a nice gift and it complemented the dagger. It was a nice, expensive, looking gift too.
"I'm sorry Euphemious. But I did not send that to you. My gift was a bit more sentimental." He sighed softly. He'd have to send mother some gold in order to make a new quilt. He dobuted she would mind making another one. Knitting and sewing were one of her most favorite of past times.
"Twas supposed to be a quilt. A thick one that could resist water so that thy nights would be more comfortable. But I guess with what was left oft the war and the hazardous travel conditions for merchants and delivery folk. Twas to be expected. I hope whomever has it uses it well." He sounded a little sad but his mood perked up when the food arrived.
"Mother made it too. Twas her thanks for the medicine. No matter I will see what I can do about her making another one." He nodded softly. Then started to separate out his plate of food. He grabbed a little bit of everything onto his plate. He took a knife and cut his lamb into peices before scooping them up and putting it into his mouth.
"I for one be very hungry. The travel here twas draining." He was feeling better with the food in him. He took some eggs and mixed it into his grits before shoving a spoonful into to his mouth. He spoke again after a bit.
"Uhm.. I did have some grand adventures though. The island is full of wonders Euphemious. Full of people too. And monsters. But those monsters be different. It is as if they live there like any other creature of the world. They are not tainted with dark magic like the ones here. They.. are natural. It is fascinating." He was talking a little bit like a kid who was discussing his favorite toy or activity. Smiling and being genuinely happy at recounting the whole event. He remembered his encounter with the dead bael and how the taguel butcherd it to bring it home. Bael and doog meat were suddenly something he was craving.
"And the people there.. Euphemious. They are a little like me. But they have been completely cut off from Elibe for centuries." He reached around for a mug but forgot he didn't order a drink.
"I did meet a woman who told me a lot about the island the people and its history. She was pretty and a practitioner of magic." He smiled softly at the thought. Neamhain was pretty no dobut there would be plenty of men after her or jealous ladies should she ever come to the mainland.
"I told her what I knew of Elibe's history. Together we learned a whole lot about both our world's. I am not done with my tour oft the island though. I want to keep exploring." He took a moment to breathe. I want to get stronger.
"How about you? I hear that the rebellion is over?"

The who sent the dagger, thought Euphemious to himself as he devoured his food. His mind began to think back onto all of his relations, but he could not figure out who it was. Maybe there was a mix up. The person who was suppose to get the seal dagger might have gotten his quilt and he got the persons dagger. If so he knew that whoever got his quilt was probably burning hot. A magical seal for a warm quilt was not a fair trade. Even so, Euphemious felt a bit cheated himself. He kind of wanted that quilt. It is not every day that you get something made by a dragon. Hmm, Euphemious began to think on the matter a bit more. In his mind he had come to a decision, but he would save it toward the end of there meeting. The General took another bite of the food on his plate and focuses his gaze on his friend.
"Out of a job actually. They did offer me a position in the nations army, but I declined. There was a lot of things I wanted to do, but obligations kept me from doing them. With the rebellion over my family had gained back some of its grand standing. My cousins now work to restore the Lowlander name. Me however, I think that part of my life is over. Of course if anything happened to Bern I would be back in a flash, or if my cousins really needed me, but I want to see the world", spoke the General as he put his fork down. "During my time in the rebellion I heard many stories about many different lands. I meet a whole lot of people and heard a lot of stories. I think I would be better served traveling the road and discovering things for myself than simply sitting in Bern and guarding a road. So I plan on becoming a Knight Errant."
Picking back up his fork Euphemious began to eat again. "Still with all that being said I am also on the look out for a miss Lowlander. I am starting to get up in age now. If I don't find anybody soon I might be a old man by the time my son is old enough to pick up arms. Now I can't have that. My father was not around to teach me how to fight, but I want to be there for my own son, or maybe even daughter." The General put down his fork and grabbed his glass. He chugged the mead down like a barbarian and then began to dig back into his lamb.
"So about this mother of yours", spoke Euphemious. "I think I might go and meet her. As I said I am free of all my obligations at the moment. Not to mention you said that they wanted to meet me. So I can not only get my quilt but pay a visit to your folks in one fell swoop. Two birds with one stone right", spoke the General as he began to tear into his food. "So where are we suppose to be heading", he spoke without looking up from his plate.

“Ah terribly sorry to hear about thy employment.” He muttered in between bites. Aeos had hoped that the end of the war would bring better prospects for Euphemious. A life of peace and betterment for the country and people he loved.
“But I am glad to hear thy family is getting better. Rebuilding things that have been lost is difficult but very rewarding.” Aeos could not count how many times his family had to rebuild their little shack of a home. The times they had to pick up the pieces of their belongings after a raid. And then Euphemious said something that nearly made him jump. He wanted to travel. He wanted to meet his mom. To meet his dad.
“You want to meet them? Would you be willing to travel to Nabata with me then?!” He nearly shouted. He was on his feet. He was excited at the prospect of bringing a human friend home. The young dragon in human guise realized he was making a bit of a scene and sat back down. Red faced and flustered. He could see it in his mind, Euphemious in his home. His mother pinching his cheeks and father trying to get him to drink.
“Sorry.” He grabbed a lamb piece and chewed it. He used the repetitive motions of his mouth to relax.
“I.. just.. well I've never brought any friends to meet my folks. You'd be the first.” He sighed.
“My parents would love to meet you too. I've told them all about you. Actually, I've told them all about my friends and people I've met.” He bit his lip lightly. Almost a bit ashamed at that. He gossiped about his friends to his folks like a lady does to the rumors.
“The trip there would be long. When we arrive it would be a bit before fishing season. I could show you around the city before then. Have you sample the local cuisine and wine. Since it would be fishing season you might need to work a bit. Three square meals a warm home twould not be a dull moment.” He thought a bit.
“Plenty of lovely ladies in Nabata too.”

Well this is a bit embarrassing, thought Euphemious to himself Aeos stood up. was the news that great that Aeos could not remain sitting down. Then again it was probably the first time Aeos had brought anyone home, or at least that is what his reactions says. Most people would not willingly walk into a dragon nest, and to be honest Euphemious normally would not do this himself. However he trusted Aeos and as a result he trusted his parents. Still Euphemious was a bit worried about travel. Aeos said it would take a while, so that was a good sign. However he needed to be sure that there were not flying, or at least not flying as Aeos as a dragon. Euphemious could take a Wyvern now, though that was due to his most recent training. He cursed Zach for his Wyvern deployment missions. Still the idea of flying on the back of a dragon for thousands of miles did not sit well with the General. He could already see himself falling off and to his doom.
"Calm it down a bit man", spoke Euphemious as he chugged the last of his drink in his mug. "It is not like I am the king of Bern here. Just your random knight. I ain't no one so special you should jump out of your seat when I visit your home. Also, about the journey. I know you just got in a new pack of Wyverns, but I am not up for flying. Nothing personal, but I like to keep my feet on the ground. You never know when you will hit some birds or some air pressure up there. I have seen far to many people fall to there death during a routine flying mission. As for the work, that is no biggy. Remember I carry around thick black painted armor all day long. A little fishing and lifting won't bother me. As a matter of fact it sounds like a good vacation. A nice calm day out at sea fishing sounds like a wonderful day indeed."
Euphemious was sure that his message had gotten across. It was encoded as a bank slip, but he was sure Aeos would understand completely, No dragon flight. Euphemious was not even up for a little, thought the desert might change his mind once he is in it. The general has and never will like dragon flight. Other people would probably kill for the chance, but not Euphemious. He could see his horrifying death with every beat of Aeos wings. Still it was good that Aeos was excited. That meant he put some value on the General. Good friends were hard to come by and ones who valued your as well even harder.
"As for the ladies I have to see when I get there", spoke the General as he slammed down his cup and stood up. He leaned over and grabbed his bag and tossed a few coins on the table to cover there bill. "Lets take the rest of this conversation outside", spoke the General. He had a few more questions to ask Aeos, but he did not want to do it inside of the tavern. To many eyes and far to many ears. This may be Sacae, but a tavern is a tavern.

Aeos grumbled lightly. He knew what Euphemious meant by wyverns and flying. No, he was not allowed to carry his friend on his back and fly to Nabata. He couldn't be made a beast of burden for the sake of convenience. As much as he wanted to whisk his buddy away from the inn and start flying out towards the mountainous borders of his desert home, he had to respect the man's wishes. Last thing he wanted to be responsible for was death mid flight. That would be a horrible experience for both parties. The guilt would eat away at him for the rest of his long life.
“Fine.” He muttered then sighed. He sounded as if he was annoyed at the whole thing.
“I'll respect your wishes. No flying.” His voice sounded a tad bit bitter. Fortunately there was food to help quell his displeasure. A few more bites of lamb and an empty grits bowl made him feel a whole lot better. “The road home will be long. If we want to be efficient with our time we will have to travel by foot and boat.” He mused in a bit of a hushed tone. Then prepared to head outside with Euphemious. Aeos also put down some coin to cover the meal then followed his armored companion out. Once outside Aeos stretched for a bit. He closed his eyes as briefly let the sunlight warm his face. He hadn't quite realized how dark it was in the inn.
“Fishing season isn't as relaxing as you may think. We fish for shark.” He said that with a bit of a grin.

Euphemious was glad that Aeos was happy. The man seemed completely excited about the entire ordeal. He figured he would probably be the first human Aeos had ever brought home with him. That very idea however bothered Euphemious a bit. He knew Aeos was a good dragon. There was no questioning his friends morals and motives. However he was not completely sure about his parents. It was true that they raised Aeos, but Euphemious also understood that parents and children are not always the same. Euphemious also questioned the nature of dragons. He had meet more than one dragon in his life. The first one he meet, the abominable fire dragon, was a beast and little more. Once he had awaken form his slumber he fell upon Bern like a inferno. He burned down villages, killed the innocent, and nearly took the life of Orcleous. The beast was completely terrifying. Aeos had changed his image of dragons, but Euphemious was still wary of them. However Euphemious had more pressing matters on his mind. There was something else he needed to get straight with Aeos before they set off on there path.
"Aeos", spoke Euphemious suddenly and with a serious tone. The General stopped and turned toward his friend and took a deep breath. "Aeos, what is a shark", spoke Euphemious was a straight face. Euphemious had never heard of or seen a Shark. All of his studies were focus on the mainland and his experiences had never taken him out to sea. Euphemious had no idea what a shark was, nor could he fathom there existence. From what he could tell in Aeos words he thought it was some kind of fish, but his tone suggested that it had far greater meaning. Was a Shark a classification or a species. Euphemious could not truly tell. However he was sure that Aeos would be willing to give him a reply.
After he figured out what a shark was Euphemious figured they would have to move onto the next order of business, transportation. Euphemious had a horse, so he did not think much of the long journey, but he was sure Aeos did not. They would have to buy a new horse and then get supplies. Aeos probably flew here, lucky dragon, but that option was not wanted or available, thought that was due to Euphemious stubbornness. They would need to gain supplies and equipment to move. However all of that tiny stuff could wait. Euphemious still needed to know what a Shark was. If he was going to be hunging these Sharks then he needed to know which kind of weapon to bring to battle. Would a spear work, or maybe he needed a net. Euphemious was grossly ignorant to such things and it shinned clearly thought him. Still he would learn. The same way Aeos had learned he would have to walk the same path. Still he preyed it was not too long, he might not live long enough. Darn nearly immortal dragons and there nearly eternal life.

What's a shark? How in the world did Euphemious not know what a shark was. He had to stop for a minute to process what his friend had just said. Then he thought of Bern on a map. It was a land that was surrounded by mountains. There was only a small patch of Bern that was uncovered by mountains that even allowed for the sea to be seen. Aeos shook his head. In his minds eye he could see a shark. He could see what a shark looks like, what it feels, smells, and tastes like. Now he just had to describe the mighty creature of the deep to Euphemious.
"A shark is the predator of the sea. A super fish with sharp teeth and a body that feels like pointy chain mail." He spoke.
"They come in many different sizes and there be different types. Small ones that hunt small fish in the coral. Big ones that hunt schools of fish and seals. The ones seen in Nabata be mostly bull and tiger sharks. They migrate from the southern tip of Nabata up towards the waters oft the Western isles, twice a year." He raised his hand to his chin.
"I think they also migrate past Nabata into Lycian waters or they merely head into the open ocean. The ones that migrate be mostly Tiger sharks. They follow the currents oft the ocean for easier swimming." He turned to face Euphemious.
"Tiger Sharks can grow as big as a man. Sometimes twice as big. They be the disposal units oft the sea since they eat everything from live animals to carrion and even things found in shipwrecks." With that little information dump over he went towards the next thing.
"Now.. how do we get there? You've a horse no? Perhaps we can go via wagon to the nearest port and make our way into Lycia's Badon. From there it is a boat ride to Khan Yunis."

"It seems that you already have things planned out", spoke Euphemious as he began to walk away from the Inn. He liked the idea so far. A carriage was probably the best way to travel. Combine that with the ship there trip might go pretty easy. If they had tried to walk there it would take forever, and Euphemious would have to take care of his horse. She was far to expensive to take to the desert and once there were there there was no way he could get her thought it. It would probably be best if he simply had her taken home. He knew a few people at the city who were the trust worthy sort. He could send his horse back home thought them. However that also meant that Euphemious would have to carry all of his stuff. He would then have to chose his supplies and equipment carefully. The General did not want to leave his armor, but he would have to think about carrying it for the entire trip. There was a lot to think about, but little time to do it.
"Alright then, I guess we should leave immediately. Lets split up for a bit and get some stuff done. See if you can find a carriage to take us to port. I will poke around the market and get some food for the trip. Lets meet up at the gate at sun down", spoke the General as he walked off. The General began to prepare himself for this journey. It would be his first time really leaving Bern. He spent all of his life in the one nation. This trip would take him across many different landscapes and many different people. Euphemious had to truly prepare himself.
