There was a group of wagons being pulled by horses moving at their maximum speed, some starting to split off from the path majority of the group in attempt to shake their pursuers. Children crying, the sounds of hooves, women screaming, men shouting, sounds of the wagons hitting the ground as they bounced around filled the air and quite honestly it had Claire quite scared. Suddenly she saw an axe strike the back wheel of the wagon she was in, causing it to hit the ground then roll a few times throwing everybody inside all about. Claire laid there for a moment, her entire body in pain from being tossed like a rag doll before crawling out of the back.
The day started like it had done the past week, everybody woke up and shared a meal before getting ready to hit the road again. Ever since Claire had sold her horse she had more difficulty moving about but she felt it was unfair to the poor thing to be put in danger in the manner she had done to it. She had taken this job mostly to get to travel for free and took a low pay in exchange for that, she had thought it was going to be a simple task. They were half way to their destination when somebody saw a decent sized group approaching them on horse back at a fast pace, they had thought them to be bandits and prepared for the worst.
Pulling herself Claire didn't have the time to dust herself off, she had watched the other wagons leave the group she was with behind as the attackers continued their chase upon them. She saw only three of them circling the wagon as the horses broke free from the yoke and took off running, the attackers didn't bother chasing the people were their primary focus. Unsure of who was still in a condition to fight Clair drew her rapier, lowering it's hilt to her waist while pointing the tip at an angle towards one of the attackers that locked eyes with her. She moved her other hand behind her back as she placed her feet into position. The girl had seen the horrors at the City of Heroes and still couldn't believe what she saw before her.
It's upper body was that of a man, with long flowing black hair, but it's lower half was that of a horse. Not just it's legs, but the entire body of a horse and the man part was where the horse's neck and head should be. The thing smiled at her before charging towards her, raising it's axe above it's head. Claire would be lying if she said she wasn't scared, she wasn't even sure if her blade could even hurt it. In a flash she spun around moving to the side as it tried to bring it's axe down into her skull, mid spin she had flung her arm around slapping it in the back with her rapier and returned to her stance watching the other creatures.
