"I give my body if it were to start over again, and become a new man. I would give it all, because death shouldn't be the end of someone else, it should be a lesson learned and a teaching passed."
~Unknown. This was it, no more hiding in the shadows, no shadowy deals and fishy strategies to get out of tough situations for Jiro! This was a new start, a new beginning, and most of all; a new life. Setting foot into these sacred fields of green, lush... nothingness, the dark-blue clad warrior set forth with nothing but an iron sword and limitless ambition. For now, his goal was small - reach the next town over and begin seeking out work. He'd stayed within the inner areas near his tribe-lands, but none had actually given him the true pay and the true meaning he needed, just old wounds given reason to fester further and memories to come flowing back. This is what he needed. This is what he wanted. The air was crisp due to the sun just rising over the cresting plains, and the city he was heading towards was just in view. Only a bit further to go... Finally, after some veritable travel, Jiro had arrived in this small 'checkpoint town' as his tribe called them; Insignificant settlements like his own hometown that served as bastions to travelers. He'd found himself here after so much time on that old, dusty road he knew so well. He was unrecognized here, which suited his needs well. Pulling his hood and mask down, to show his, still young, face, the myrmidion made cautious steps around the loosely populated surroundings. He couldn't be too careful nowadays, with so much going on in these far flung cities, anything could become of Sacae. Anything could become of the very men and women around him. For now, he gazed around, trying to locate an inn or a waypoint he could rest his tired legs and broken spirits to a more manageable state.

Garrett rode Krystal around the Sacaen plains smoothly. He then took out some nuts that he had in his pouch and munched on them. He looked down at Krystal and slowed her down. "You hungry girl? This should last us until we get to town" he said as he lowered his hand with the remaining nuts he had out. Krystal munched on them too as they both continued to ride their way through the plains.
Garrett then saw a town up ahead. "Yeah, I know Krystal. Like I said before, I don't like towns as much as you do, but we need to resupply if we're to survive to our next trip...besides, from what I've heard, Sacaen towns aren't nearly as noisey as Etrurian or even Bern towns." he said re assuredly. He then made Krystal move faster toward the town.
They came upon the city center as Krystal came to slow stop. Garrett looked around as he tried to locate an inn. "I don't know about you Krystal, but I'd rather spend the night here rather than out in the open again..." he said softly. Krystal only replied with a slight grunt. "Oh come on...I'll give you an extra portion for breakfest if we stay here. I can stock up on supplies for our long trip...not like anything will happen here anyways." He said with a smile.
Garrett then looked around at the city. He saw many people walking about, doing their business as usual. He saw nothing out of the ordinary except for what he thought was a Myrmidon with his cloak up. "Hmm...havn't seen any Sacians like him around before..." Garrett said softly. He then shook his head as he then approached an inn. He got off Krystal and stroked her side. "We're spending the night here Krystal. Then we'll head back out. I don't want to hear that you've caused trouble during the night ok? So be good and I'll even reward you in the morning" he said as he gave a smile to Krystal. She replied with a gentle neigh and stood outside the inn as Garrett went inside. He gave the keeper a small coin and said "Just a cheap room for me please, I'll be on my way tomorrow morning"

"For the last time, I am not from Bern", shouted Wei in a furry as he slammed his fist down on a nearby table. The Journeyman was not scaring anybody, or convincing them as well. "Come on look at my red hair", he shouted as he pointed toward the crimson locks that grew on his head like weeds. The group of sacens standing around him did not look impressed. They simply stared at him with the same superstition as they did when he entered the town.
"That demon Oya's hair is also kind of red", spoke one of the men.
"Also Kenshin hair is red, and he is not from Bern."
"Really any hair color can come from anywhere. If that is your best defense then you might as well admit the truth."
In rage and furry Wei threw his hands up into the air. "You all can go suck on a egg", he shouted as he stormed away from the little ground and rushed his way up to the bar. Wei had decided that he needed a drink, but this city was not done with him yet. Before he could even order a drink the bar tender had given him a dirt look. The one that Wei knew far to well, how old are you. Wei was 15, old enough to get married in his home city of Thria, but that meant little in the outside world. People did not like to give him drinks or any form of respect. If he had been sacean he was sure they would be buying him drinks by now just because his hair was red, but nope. They were giving him a hard time. On one end he thought it was due to them thinking he was from Bern. The two regions have enough bad blood to fill the ocean, but Wei was starting to believe it had more to do with them just wanting to mess with mi personally.
"What is a woodcutter doing in sacae", one of them asked him.
"None of your #$$% bushiness was Wei's reply, and form there things went down hill.
"I need a break", spoke Wei as he stepped outside of the Inn. The young journeyman leaned back against the walls of the inn and stared out into the street. With the rustle and busssle of the Inn behind him Wei could simply sit back and enjoy the view. There were a lot of fine women in sacae. Though he had to remind himself they were the independent type. He liked his women to be domestic, but sacae was far from that. Instead Wei would be forced to simply enjoy the eye candy, and there was a lot of it. "Sacae is not that bad of a place", he spoke to himself.

Jiro, fortunately, was around during the 15 year old's tantrums. He looked quite younger than Jiro, huh? Kinda the relations he had with his brother, only fortunately for the poor soul, Jiro wasn't about to mysteriously murder his parents in order to usurp their family. Aside from his mulling over loss in his life, the ninja myrmidion slipped around to speak with the kid before entering the inn. He gave one, resounding piece of advice, perhaps one that could change how people look at him. The attitude wasn't Bern, but the style and talk definitely was. So Jiro spoke, "If you wish to have them understand that you are not from Bern, perhaps use one of the local insults. To the south, we call them 'Sea Pig'." Jiro couldn't help but come off as condescending, and even snobby. Regardless, the ninja had entered the inn, and set down his family crest on the counter, knowing well that word had already spread of the Tragedy of Tezuka.
The Innkeeper eyed the crest carefully, recognizing the family seal. He responded with, "Sorry 'bout the family, guv. I can't give the room to a stranger for free, but your father was..." Jiro looked at the Innkeeper with a sharpening glare. He didn't like to talk about his family, not here, not there, not anywhere. It was like the children's story with green eggs and turducken, except Jiro never was going to accept it into his life. "...Right. Ah... Just take the key, room seventeen." he handed the small fob-like key to the ninja, and with it, his family crest back. Jiro clutched the crest as if his life depended on it, but the key loosely. He could always get another key, but never another Tezuka Tribe Crest.
Opening the door to his room, which was just across the hall from Garrett's, Jiro swiftly slipped inside and removed his heavy gear, only small cloth remaining of his proud disguise. Closing his window soon after, via the curtain and pulling it shut, he sat down to sort out his thoughts. He was thinking far too much of his family and friends... and his brother. He refused to let go, but he refused to forgive himself, too. What a conundrum this was. It was his fault, he had to live with this. He could have stopped his brother before he took the family in an act of rage, and now he was no better, with Tezuka blood both in his veins and on his hands. Gods damn it all, he just wanted to find redemption.

Garrett looked down the hall as he noticed a slight commotion with a young boy. He merely shook his head as he opened the door to his room. "Nothing big, just a small dispute I guess, someone will likely scold him for his actions" Garrett said. He then saw the same Myrmidon from before enter the room across from his. Garrett went in his room and closed the door.
He looked out his window and smiled as he saw Krystal standing outside, behaving. He then frowned when he saw how filthy she was from the combination of travel and battle. "Gotta remember to give her a quick scrub down before we set out again. She always preferred being cleaned." Garrett said as he sat on his bed. He looked down at his armor and sighed. He then looked up at the ceiling. "I promise mother...father...your training will not be in vain. Me and Krystal will find the bandits who took you away from us so early" he said with a sigh. He took out his sword from his sheath and looked at it. He smiled as he remembered his many battles with his horse and how he first took up the sword and lance. "I promise, I will keep fighting to live...I will keep my parents legacy alive!" he said as he then put his sword back in his sheath.
He then got up and opened his door as he went out and stretched. He then left the inn and went to the nearby marketplaces to buy food. Garrett held out a gold coin and handed it to the clerk and just pointed at a ripe piece of fruit that he had. Without a word, the clerk handed Garrett the fruit and he went toward Krystal. "Here you go Krystal, fresh from the marketplace. Tomorrow like I said, we leave for the next town" he said as Krystal chewed on the fruit. And hopefully we can find some answers or clues as to who attacked my village and why...he thought as he sighed and leaned on his horse.

What the hell, thought Wei to himself as the myrmidon walked up to him said something and then walked off. His words were a bit confusing. Was the talking about the women or the argument. To be honest he could not tell which. In truth he could care less of what they thought about him. Ok that was not true. He did not want to be known as the guy form Bern because he was from Lycia. He took pride in his home. The women, well it would be nice, but as he said before they were not his type. The women he would merry would be a true women. A women who knew her place in the world and excelled at it. Hooking up with a fighting women from sacae would only lead to arguments down the road, Wei knew that. Still Wei wondered a bit about that myrmidon he had saw earlier.
Letting his curiosity lead the way Wei walked back into the inn. From his position he saw the man hand something to the inn keeper that was not money. Then they shared a short few words and the inn keeper handed the item right back. He then payed the man and walked off. Now Wei's curiosity was peaked. What in the world was going on here? Was he some kind of noble? Did he know the Inn keeper? What was the item? Why had he said anything to him at all?
"Secrets secrets", spoke Wei aloud as he began to watch the man go up the stairs. He was tempted to follow him, but he noticed that there were a lot of people looking at him. He had created a scene before hand and now that he was back in his red hair was drawing the attention back on him. If he just walked up the stairs he would seem suspicious. Instead he made his way over to the desk and rented out a room. With his key Wei had a reason to go up the stairs and up he went. Just in the nick of time Wei noticed the mysterious one enter into his room.
"Lucky, lucky", spoke Wei as he noticed that his room was next to the man's. As happy as he was Wei was not sure if that was a good thing though. He knew he could get into a lot of trouble for spying on someone. Shoot some people would even kill you over it, but Wei was curious. Curiosity was a deadly force. If his room was next to the man, he had a good reason for being so close. However that also meant that the man would suspect him if anything happened simply because he was next to him. Either way it did not matter. Wei was locked into curiosity and he was about to go for a rider. Entering into his room Wei placed down his belongings on the nearby bed and leaned back against the wall. "So what is the best way to go about this", spoke wei to himself as he began to contemplate his next plan of action.

Jiro simply sat in isolation, pondering his previous thoughts. He'd already placed an order for tea to be brought into his room. Courtesy of the Innkeeper, due to being a member of the Tezuka tribe, Jiro had it on the house. This wasn't the usual Sacaean recipe, it was a special brew made by members of the clan his tribe had been a part of made to soothe the nerves. In the floor sat the ninja, eyes closed, palms up and upon one another, open as his legs crossed beneath. Some natives knew this as the Lotus pose, and was said to channel inner, tainted mag and quell it, to leave only pure energy within one's soul. A service boy came to the door, and opened the room where Jiro resided. "Mr. Tezuka, yo-" "Do not call me that. Jiro suffices." "A-Alright Mr. Jiro, your tea is ready." The ninja cocked a brow at the news, rather than having his tea there. "Where has it gone, then? I requested it be brought here." "Inn policy, sir, I'm terribly sorry. You may proceed to the dining area and let them know who you are." With that short conversation out of the way, the timid young man left the ninja to his thoughts. Shortly thereafter, he geared up, his shozoku now upon his body like before, mask and hoodless, he proceeded out of his room and down to the dining area.
Once down into the dining area, the ninja proceeded to the counter, and gazed upon the cup, before looking to the person behind the aforementioned formation. "I am Jiro, this is my tea, correct?" The server responded with a simple nod, and the man took his cup to his seat. The gentle scent of his tea was only coupled by the honeyed flavor it accrued in his mouth. Delightful, soft, and pleasant all the same. He held the other seat open, but expected no one to sit with a man such as himself. He wouldn't be rude and say no, but he wasn't about to invite anyone to sit here. Regardless, he needed this time to detox from his recent troubles. He didn't need another job, not yet. He needed time to remind himself what his purpose was, and who he really was, in general.

Garrett soon got up from his leaning position and patted his horse gently. "Stay here girl, I'm going back in. Keep behaving now ok? Good" he said to Krystal. As he reentered the inn, he got out another gold coin. "May as well get a drink while I'm here, it'll be awhile before I can enjoy the luxuries of a good Sacaen drink when I leave" He said as he sat down at a table in the dining area. He saw across from him was his neighbor, the Myrmidon from before.
He waited as a server came to him. "Just some Sacaen wine please" Garrett said as he laid out the gold coin he held. He wasn't much of a drinker, but he knew that it would calm him down. He sat and pondered at where he should go next. "Maybe Sacae here itself has the answers I need...but I don't think that I'll find it. Even if the bandits are here persay, theres no way that I would be able to take them on myself. I need allies...but who?" He said mainly to himself.
Just then, his wine arrived. Garrett thanked the server and handed the gold coin to the server. He took a sip and sighed. "I'll worry about that later. For now, I need to find clues as to where they are. Maybe in the process while I'm here, I might be able to find an ally or two to hire or help out in exchange for their help when I find clues..." He said. He looked across back at the Myrmidon at the table across from him. Something about him seems...important. I don't know what, but I have a feeling that he's important... Garrett thought as he took another sip.

As Wei leaned against his wall thinking the journeyman came up with a answer. "Not worth it", he spoke to himself aloud as he picked himself off the wall. His curiosity was high and his mind filled with question, but the risk of death was not equal to the satisfaction he would gain from answers. Who cared who the strangely dressed man was. He was not from this region and as a result the man had no dealings with himself. Picking up his axe Wei planned to go out onto the town for a bit. Maybe he might find something equally interesting. That would take his mind off things. As Wei moved to his door however he heard something interesting.
"Do not call me that. Jiro suffices.", came a voice in the hallway. Wei was just giving up on the idea when he heard this new development. He had missed the name, but he knew the guy did not want to be called that. It was all the more interesting now. Wei's ears stayed focus on the conversation, but he did not move a muscle. If he moved to far away he could miss something. If he moved to close he could spark something off. Instead he stayed where he was and listened. The rest of the conversation seemed dull to him. Something about tea, which Wei hated, and the man having to come down. The boy waited for the man to pass and then made his own trip down the stair case.
"Alright, now I interested", spoke Wei. He really needed to kill this bad habit of talking to himself. Still Wei wanted to know what was up with this guy. So he figured it would be best to do it directly. The guy was down stairs and at the bar. Good enough for any conversation. As Wei reached the ground floor he noticed that somebody else had taken the seat next to the strange man. That was a pity. It would have been the perfect seat. Well there was always the other side and Wei walked around the two gentlemen and sat on the opposite side of the strange man.
"Can I have some wine", spoke Wei to the barkeep. The man gave him a look that screamed are you even old enough. Wei did not even bother to respond to that. Instead he placed some coin on the counter top expecting the man to comply. Instead the man simply took the coin and gave him a tall glass of grape juice. Wei, none the wiser, sipped the stuff and figured he had been doped. "Oh come on man", he spoke under his breath. Today was not his day it seemed. Without skipping a beat Wei turned his attention toward the main reason for coming here.
"So, why did you give me the advice", he spoke aloud not looking at the strange dressed man. He figured he would not need to. He would know who he was talking to.

Not only was he being stared at, but now there was a second person here invading his personal reflection to try and force some interaction with him. Jiro wasn't happy, and the fast-forming scowl on his face was clear. It was alright to have some distant admirer. In truth, Jiro didn't care the gender of someone who stared, so long as they weren't rude about it, and the eyes of Garrett were a tad confusing in their intent, so he remained wary. What pushed him off the edge of normality and into the realm of anger was when Wei had intervened. He quickly snapped his head up and to the side, as the patron whom Wei had thought was across from him was across another table. There was in fact an empty chair in front of him, so there was no reason for him to stand. "Oh, yes, approach the stranger who gave you advice on how NOT to look Bernean, and simply question his motive. I have my own, and you have yours."
The fact that he was agitated beforehand, and that he had been peeved since his meditation was interrupted didn't help the easy to anger warrior cope with this stranger's flat tone and seemingly emotionless dialogue. "Now, if you're DONE here, I would like to return to my tea. I've better things to do than talk to a drunken child." he returned to his sweet tasting drink, sipping carefully as he waited for the young, and rather rude man to leave. He didn't neat these distractions, nor did he need this person here in general. Ergo the fact that Jiro was visibly armed, and definitely dangerous, he was just a ranting man with nothing better to do than just be angry at 'young whipper snappers' or whatever the language the older folks used. Jiro was middle aged, he had a whole life ahead of him. This ISN'T what he needed.

Garrett grew a concerned look across his face as he sipped his wine. This dosn't look good...if a fight breaks out here...I'll just need to be careful he though as he felt his sword on his side. He knew that bad things came out when it involved patrons in a bar...regards if it was in a inn or not. He put his wine down and looked outside. Krystal was standing still and was behaving. Garrett smiled at that and drunk the rest of his wine. Well...I can say Krystal is behaving better than this kid is in here thats for sure Garrett thought as he then turned his attention back at the commotion.
He then saw that many other people were now looking at the commotion. He knew that if a fight broke out now with those two, the officials get involved. Now granted, he knew that Sacaen officials were not as corrupt compaired to Etrurian or even Bern officials, but he still knew nothing good would come out if officials were needed to break up a fight.
Garrett decided to stay at his table and wait it out. His server nervously came to his table. "I'll just take water from here please" he said as the server got him some water. He started to drink up the water as he continued to observe the commotion that was forming, still keeping his other hand by his sword in case he had to intervene to stop a fight between those two.

Wei was caught off guard by the man's sudden hostility. Clearly there was something going on that Wei did not understand. Still thought Wei did not like being called a child, nor did he appreciate the harsh words. It was a simple question. If he did not want to answer it he could have simply said so in a much nicer tone. Clearly the man was looking down on him. Wei's first and natural reaction was to jump out of the sea and pick a fight, but then his mind shifted to his glass of what was suppose to be wine, and thought better. Instead of making a move Wei chugged his grape juice. He finished the glass and slammed the cup down onto the table. "Sea Pig", he spoke as he got up and walked off. It was fitting.
As Wei walked from the table he moved toward the back of the Inn. Outward he probably looked a bit pathetic for backing down so easily, but on the inside of Wei there disagreement was not over. A slow burning anger began to rumble inside of him as he took a position by himself. His view still included the myrmidon. Wei was not sure how he needed to make his next move. He could attack the guy, but he was sure he would just call upon his own quick death. The sword had a advantage against the axe due to its speed, but there was another reason why fighting the man was not a option. Wei was a journeyman. He was not a true fighter. He only knew how to swing his weapon and hopped that it would work. He was strong, for his age, but not strong enough to out do a trained warrior. This man gave off such a vibe. Wei could not beat him in a straight fight, or probably even in a ambush. Still the journeyman was angry. He had embarrassed him and that could not stand. However he did not know how to avenge it. That would need time.
A couple of people began to snicker in his direction. There judgement only fanned the flames. Still Wei began to wonder who and why this guy was here. He had heard something earlier and witnessed something most people would have overlooked. Maybe that was the key, or maybe that was the path to death. Secrets were usually sealed with sharp blades and threatening words. Eventually Wei decided it would be best to watch. To study, see if he could learn anything. Revenge would be his, but not if he rushed in. It would only lead to him losing his head. "Alright Mr, show me what you got", spoke Wei under his breath as he leaned back against the far wall.

At first, the ninja openly laughed at this kid, honestly. Using the insult he'd taught the kid to say so he could get away from persecution, and now it was turned on him. Anyone that was anyone near the southern reaches of Sacae knew who the Tezukas were, and calling the last surviving son of the clan out on his heritage, let alone in general, was a death wish. Then, the generic challenge came. 'Show me what you got'. Sheesh, he'd heard this more than a handful of times in the past. The myrmidion ninja stood with a blank look on his face, deadpanned at how the kid was trying to act cool. His small cup of tea was finished. Setting the delicate liquid container and the plate it was served on back at the designated window, he moved to wave the kid on. "Rude, ignorant, and self-centered, but as the saying goes, ten men, ten colors. Come then, I will show you everything I've 'got' as you've put it. You may be but a child, but you act as a man, so I will treat you like one."
The commotion outside was not to be without cause, for Jiro had a reputation for pissing off outsiders. Not quite like this, however, this was something else entirely. When the Tezuka son had stepped outside, and announced a duel going down, anyone who was anyone was here to watch, and guards there in case things got deadly. He stood across from where the boy was to be, blade drawn, and ready to work. He was actively sizing the kid up. He had to stay out of range of that ax, and he had to move consistently against the flow of that thing to ensure he wasn't to even get clipped by it, meaning he might have to favor his left hand instead of his right. Not that he minded, really, Jiro was ambidextrous. It was a matter of throwing his foe off. Not many people were left handed, and even fewer were like him, which begged the question as to what hand the kid favored, this would determine Jiro's style against him.

Garrett quickly stood up as he put his glass of water down. I knew something bad was going to happen...a duel between him and just a mere child? If I know anything, I know that its best to stay out of the duel. Sacaens usually don't take too kindly to those that interfere in a duel. But that kid...hes clerly going to be way over his head. I'll stand by for now, but if this guy goes too far, then I'll be forced to intervene to protect the child. Garrett thought as he looked at the commotion.
Now granted, Garretts more capable of fighting while on horseback, especially if said horse is Krystal, but he knew how to hold his own on foot. He then looked outside at Krystal. He smiled as he saw that she was still behaving herself. He lightly touched his sword that was sheathed. "Surely there's no reason for this conflict..." he said mainly to himself.
He looked at the child first, then back at the now enraged Myrmidon. No way is that child going to win...for one, this Myrmidon looks like he's experienced with the blade, which I've heard has a huge advantage over axes since their much quicker than the slow and heavy axe. Not to mention that the child looks like he barely has combat experience, if any! He thought to himself. He then gripped the handle of his sword and looked ahead. I'll hold back for now for the sake of this duel, but if things start to get too far, then I'm going to be left with no choice but to intervene...

Wei, really needed to fix that habit of his. Wei was sitting on the back wall waiting watching his would be opponent. Wei wanted to memorize his face and study him for a wile. Maybe come back and fight him at a later date or strike when he was vulnerable. He had no intention of fighting the man now, but thing quickly shifted and changed. He had indulged in his bad habit again of talking to himself, and the man had heard it. Now he was up and about some kind of frenzy. It was clear the man was angry, but from Wei's point of view that guy had been the jerk. Still Wei was no fool. He knew he could not beat the man, but at this point it was pretty much too late. The man had declared a dual and from what he could tell everyone else was going for it. If he was to back out of this dual Wei was not sure if any of the others would let him walk out of this place alive. The ways of Sacae were strange to him and his lack of knowledge seemed to put him in a bad point.
"Fine then", shouted Wei calling up his hot blooded nature. There was no point in thinking any more. His enemy had called a dual and he had no way out of it. At the very least he could summon up his dignity and fight. Wei was a novice in true battle, but he had spared a couple of times. He also knew his way around the axe. He could cut thought a tree in under ten swings and split a log with the best of them. He could handle this. All he really had to worry about was getting poked by those swords. If he could land a hit.
Wei walked outside the Inn with a face as grim as his situation. The Jourenmyman was psyching himself up for the battle that would come. In his fight against the undead back in Lycia proper he had won thought his rage. Maybe rage is what he needed now. He sure was not going to win thought combat experience and skill. With a sliding move to his hip Wei pulled his iron war axe out from his axe ring. The weapon was aged, but not old. The nicks and marks on the blade told of use, but the lack of crimson stains showed that it was not combat related. Quickly Wei tossed the weapon into his left hand. He would be using it as his secondary. Dropping the bag on his back to the ground Wei pulled out a second Axe. This one was much lighter, but twice as strong. The Brave Axe, it was a true representation of Wei.
"Alright lets see what you got", spoke Wei as he slammed the two heads of his axe together. Sparks flew off the weapons as they collided. Without skipping a beat Wei rushed in swinging widely and wide both axes leading the way.
