Name:Belinda
Class:Shaman
Age:20
Born in: Badon, Lycia
Appearance: Belinda is a woman who is about 5' 5''. She has short dark purple hair and reddish brown eyes. She has fair skin and a pretty face. Her attire consists of a thick black woolen turtleneck top. Which is sleeveless. She folds over the neck part so it isn't so suffocating. She has a set of detached sleeves that are held to her arm with two small, brown leather belts. She has two sets of belts with each arm, one on the top of her arm just above the elbow, and the other on her wrist. This helps to keep the sleeves from sliding up and down her arm. Sometimes the wrist belt is hidden away in the folds of her sleeve. She wears pink lipstick and faux gold earrings, that appear to be in a pattern of a grape vine. She wears a similar patterned necklace and ring. She has a set of reading glasses which are tucked away in her pocket or bag. Her fitted pants are brown and the same color of her belts. Her shoes are a simple pair of black loafers. She has a white cloak that she uses for travel. This cloak is sleeveless and has a large yin-yang symbol painted on its back. The cloak has white buttons made out of bone to tie itself together. She carries her belongings in a large leather bag. Her spell tome is usually attached to her hip with a series of specialized book holding belts.
Personality: Belinda is a woman of high intelligence and partial high class. She is bold, honest, and confident. This brash nature can be mistaken for coldness or perhaps even ignorance. For those that can look past her slightly abrasive nature, they can find someone who is a trusted and true friend.
History:Belinda was the third child born to a upper-middle-class family in Lycia. Her father was a Druid who made a living as a bookkeeper and accountant to several small businesses. Her mother was a mercenary guard who worked to defend Badon from pirates and raiders. Belinda had a relatively average childhood. Her family was reasonably wealthy, which granted her access to education. She showed a remarkable affinity for books and numbers. She spent an extensive amount of time learning about the history of Elibe and of the human body. She spent most of her time as a pupil under the strict tutelage of her father. She excelled in basic anima tomes until she showed she had the same affinity for dark magic as her father. Her father was both glad and disheartened at this fact. He understood the difficulties and strife that came with mastering the power of the nether. He knew how the power of shadow magic could affect the mind and inevitably drive one into insanity or to coma. She and her siblings lived a relatively peaceful life up until she turned 15. After an unfortunate series of events, the family lost their middle-class status. In an attempt secure his children would receive a “good” future, her father sold most of their property. He used the money earned from those sales to arrange marriages for his three children. (Spoiler: After several years of practicing and studying dark magic, Bel's father fell into insanity. The nether took from him his compassion and turned him violent. His actions eventually disgraced the family's name. Bel suffered severe physical and verbal abuse and was left mildly traumatized. As an adult, she loathes her father.)
This did not sit well with Belinda. This caused a rift to form between father and daughter. Her mother also did not approve of the arranged marriages. She did what she could to ensure that her kids would be given at least some freedom to their lives. Her mother sent letters out her family out in Ilia in order to secure an alternate life for her children. The maternal family sent letters back, stating that they would welcome both children into their lively hood. Although their mother had no idea what sort of life awaited them in the northern end of Elibe. As she had cut ties with her family years ago, but she figured whatever awaited them there was better than being forced to marry against one’s will. Armed with this information, Belinda's mother presented her children with a choice. Either stay home and accept the marriages arranged for them or go to the mystery family in the Ilian north.
Her brother (Christobel) chose to leave the family home and try to make it up north. Belinda and her older sister (Carabella) chose to stay and follow her father's orders. Carabella married a minor Lycian noble. Bel's marriage was to be had when she turned 18. By that logic, Bel, assumed she had at least three more years at home in order to figure out what she really wanted to do.
She briefly met the man she was betrothed too and did not like him. He was a large portly sir, rich, but it was very obvious to Belinda that he simply wanted her for her body. So, Belinda spent two years in Badon, working. She worked in several odd jobs through most of it was scribe work and minor bookkeeping for the businesses along the docks. By the time she was seventeen, she finally earned enough to leave her home. She met Captain Cid. Cid was a formerly a family friend and agreed to take Bel in.
She headed west and into Khan Yunis. The city had a vast library and archive detailing all sorts of historical events. Since all ships passed through here, they brought with them the knowledge of their lands. She found herself a second job working in one of the libraries. By, 19 she managed to publish a small series of papers regarding the arcane arts. These small papers proposed a theory of balance between Neither and Light. And how both of them combined with a simple lifestyle, based on the principles of anima, nature, one could drastically help reduce the occurrences of “mental illness” that seemed to befall shamans. These papers were based on an ancient theology that appeared to have been lost in these modern times. Those small papers gave her some minor notoriety among her other scholarly peers. She even sent a copy of her work to her family in Badon. To show them that she was doing well for herself.
Eventually, word reached the young scholar about an island full of beast folk.. monsters that appeared to have crawled straight out of mythology... and wars of both conquest and rebellion. With her curiosity piqued, her bosses granted her permission to go out into the world and report. Acedimea occasionally calls her back to Nabata to give a report on what she's seen. And to do annual maitnence and book keeping.
Currently under the employ of a Sea Captian named Cid, and his ship The High-Wind. Her contract with Cid is not permenant. And thus allowed to float around between work. Cid and Bel's relationship resembles one that is shared by siblings. Except, Bel is seen as the more responsible of the two despite her being about ten years younger.
