With the group fully settled in the boat. Aeos did a final check of everything. He then put the paddles in the slots and gently began to row them out towards the sea. Yasin was guiding him. Letting him know which way to go. Aeos was facing Euphemious as he rowed. He gave the knight a small smile. The salty sea breeze was nice and cool. A nice contrast compared to the thick heat of the desert nation.
"So Euphemious.. Uh.. enjoying the trip so far?" He asked. Not quite sure how to phrase his question. His parents already liked him. It wouldn't be long before they truly warmed up to him and shared embarrassing stories at Aeos expense. He was rowing at a steady pace.
"Things might get exciting really soon depending on the fishing." He kinda hoped they found a good sized shark to satisfy their needs. He wasn't quite feeling 100 percent due to the lack of sleep.
"If we get a good sized one.. mom turns it into dinner. A good meaty mash mixed with veggies and spices." That mash was one of his most favorite dishes. They rowed out away from the mainland. But, they were also a but further away from most of the other fishing ships. They could still signal for help should the worse happen but they were still far away enough so as not to cause any competition. Yasin felt comfortable in this spot. He took a moment to read the sea. The sea was calm now. And he could see several fins occasionally poking out through the water.
"I think we are ok here. However, we will need to work quickly. Once we hit a shark the other sharks will swarm in out of curiosity." Yasin sat down in the boat and started to prepare a bait.
"We have several methods of luring a shark in." Yasin carefully mused over what would be the best method to lure them.

So this is shark hunting, thought Euphemious as they were out at sea. The general did not see anything special about it at first. They were simply on a boat out in the water. It was like river fishing, but this time you were in the middle of the water instead of the edge. At one point he was starting to think that this was going to be a bust till the moment he saw a fin poke out of the water. What in the world, thought the general to himself. He had never seen such a thing. Then there was another and then another. The two vetrians started to speak about the fins as signs of a shark, but Euphemious still had not seen one cup close yet. He did however see there bodies floating in the water a bit off and the sight made his heart skip a beat. When they said big fish Euphemious was expecting something like a big cat fish or a gigantic gold fish. Those things, well they were completely different.
"So far so good", spoke Euphemious answering Aeos question. "However if I had a choice I would change the weather around here. The sun here is deadly. You can feel the scorching rays burning down on you. It is almost as if somebody on your shoulder trying to push you down. So other than the hot weather the trip had been a blast. I have seen a lot of new things ,discovered a new culture, and finally I have seen, whatever those things are", chuckled a general as he pointed toward a fin standing out of the water. "I get it that you call them fish since they live in the water, but that thing is not a fish. It is nothing like any fish I have ever seen. Are you sure it is not like some kind of water wyvern, or anything like that. Fish have scales. That thing is as smooth as a baby bottom."

"Heh." Yasin let out a light chuckle. He was amused at how little Euphemious knew about sharks.
"They are smooth to the naked eye. But, when you hold one, you feel how rough and coarse it really is. It's like if you rubbed your bare hand over chainmail. Or over the gravel and sediment along the shore line." Aeos chimed in.
"It's so the parasites don't bite. Helps to reduce drag as they swim." Yasin also chimed in. His eyes kept scanning the waters looking for any warning signs. The sharks seemed to be curious about the big wooden craft in their waters. And there was the scent of blood in the water. Blood and fish oil from the other fishermen chumming them. Yasin had is sights on a shark that was around four to five feet. It would have more than enough meat for dinner and breakfast. Heck, even a three-foot shark would be enough for the four of them. The boat itself was about fifteen feet long and at man's height in width. It could carry one big shark or several small ones.
Yasin eyed one shark in particular. One that had a notch on it's dorsal fin. That was a decent sized one. He tapped on Aeos shoulder. Aeos pulled the oars in and grabbed the bucket of chum. It was mostly fish heads.
"We are going to lure them in. I'm going to start to chum the water with this meat. Dad's already picked out a shark for us. So he's going to do the initial strike." Aeos spoke as he grabbed one of three harpoons that were anchored to the ship.
"He's going to strike the shark with the harpoon. And draw it towards the boat. Then the rest of us have club it till immobile then haul it onto the boat. We have to be quick about it." Aeos explained. Then handed Euphemious a harpoon.
"Hope you've been practicing your aim with a javelin." Yasin commented. He grinned a bit at Euphemious. Aeos took a breath and started to throw the fish heads into the sea. He threw them far. Just to see which sharks were where.
"I'm trying for the one with the nicked fin. But there are other's around that will do." Yasin spoke. He could see a few others that fit the size description he wanted. Aeos threw more heads into the water. A little closer to the boat this time. The sharks were swarming. Interested in the fish heads. He threw them at the same place each time.
"Alright. Hope you boys are ready." Yasin spoke. Then threw the harpoon. The barbed projectile hit the tail of one shark and latched into the meat of the animal. He then drew on the thick rope to pull it closer to the boat.

Terrifying, but yet interesting thought Euphemious as he looked into the water. The creatures swimming around the boat were clearly not normal fish. They were like the woves of the sea, but like a thousand times more frighting. Euphemious did not even want to think about falling in. The way they swarmed the fish heads told him of his fate if he did. Still fear had never kept Euphemious down. The general had entered many battles in the past with just as terrifying odds. He came all this way to go shark hunting, curling up in the boat was not a option.
With a firm step Euphemious stood up in the boat. He needed to approatch the situation as if he was going into a battle. The General first insured that his feet were properly secured under one of the sitting planks, just in case he lost his balance. The general needed to be sure he was not going to fall over. Taking the harpoon in one hand Euphemious focused on the struggling shark that Aeos' father had hooked. The general then focused his aim, adjusting for the refraction of the water. He then pulled back his arm and then tossed it forward with all of his might. The projectile made a hissing noise as it cut though the air and slammed into the sharks head. The blow was a direct hit. The force from the attack drove the weapon though the shark's skull.
"Hitting a warrior flying on a wyvern is much harder, spoke Euphemious as a smile dawned his face. The general then began to pull on the rope pulling the beast in toward the boat. One throw one kill, today was looking to be a good day for the general. Still they just got onto the water. things could always go south.

Both men managed to spear the shark. And now they had to haul it over towards the boat. They had to be quick about it because the other sharks will turn upon the wounded one. Aeos had to throw the rest of the bait in the water as a distraction. The shark was brought close to the boat. Unmoving. The creature was either dead or stunned. It meant that the creature wouldn't suffer long. They hauled the best upon the boat and Aeos clubbed it once more for good measure. The force of the impact insured that he had cracked it's skull. Ending it's life. The harpoons were left in, for now.
Yasin threw himself upon the animal and tied it's mouth down as a precaution. He was not going to be bringing home any amputees. Aeos quickly told Euphemious to sit down. Aeos grabbed the oars again and started rowing towards land. They needed to be quick. The sharks knew that something had died. That there was fresh meat nearby. Once, they were in the safety of the shallows Yasin got out of the boat and guided it up the shore. Aeos helped him too. The boat was now ashore and the shark was thrown onto the dock.
"Father will begin to clean the animal and prepare it for transport. I'm going to help him with that. I need you to remove the spears and stuff from the boat. Wipe it down and tie it together. So that we can take it back with us." Aeos spoke in a slightly rushed and flustered tone.
Yasin would begin the delicate job of gutting the shark. All the while he would be saying chants of prayer and thanks to whatever deity that be, for this precious gift from the sea. Aeos joined in it too. He helped by bringing water in buckets to help clean the meat. They were using sea water for now. The pair of them would clean it out with fresh water once they reached the reservoir. They spoke in their native language. The shark was gutted. It's inedible parts were thrown back into the ocean. Returned to the sea. Offered to the sea gods.
The shark was cut up into pieces and then wrapped in cloth and thrown into a net sack. They had to move quickly. Aeos and Yasin quickly washed their hands out in the sea water. Aeos helped Euphemious with what he needed to do. The boat was tied back towards it's place. And nothing was left in it. Aeos took his half of stuff to carry. With everything settled they went on their way towards the public water reserves. Yasin cleaned out shark meat with fresh water. Then shoved it back into the sack. He then ordered his troops to make their way home. He knew at home there was plenty of fresh water to cook the shark meat in.
Joury had been busy in keeping their house as a home. There was laundry that was hung out to dry in the hot sun. The dishes had been washed and reset on the table. The floor freshly swept. And Euphemious' armor was polished and "sitting down" on one of the chairs. It could almost pass for a person if one was staring through the dusty windows. She was taking a much-needed break when the boys came home. She was sipping a nice mug of fruit nectar and water. Yasin happy to see her safe and sound.
"We got one!" He exclaimed. He plopped the sack of meat into her sink. Aeos gave cups of water to everyone after he plopped his share of stuff onto a designated spot on the floor.
"Euphemious got the killing blow. Nailed it right in between the eyes." Yasin spoke. He was speaking in native dragonic. But, his hand motion, pointing at Euphemious, and "spear throwing" motion, kinda gave anyone the gist of what he was talking about. Joury smiled and complimented Euphemious. She took a moment to finish her drink before she got up and went to work with the meat. It wouldn't be long before she had the meat rinsed with lemon juice, water, and tumeric. Washed again. Seasoned. And thrown into a boiling pot of water. The meat would be boiled. Then separated off the bone. The meat would be mixed with other vegetables and seasonings then fried with some oil. The meal would be complimented with some more flat bread. The cooking would take the whole rest of the day to complete.
The men were expected to clean up and do the remaining chores around the home while the food cooked. Fortunately, there wasn't that much else to do. The day was too hot to really do any of the more manual labors. Except for one more trip to the market to buy one or two things that were missing for dinner. By, sundown the meal was complete and they could sit down and eat.

Well this was a adventure thought Euphemious as the group returned to the coast. He asked what a shark was and he found out. They were nothing like Aeos described them, but then again how could you describe that. There was no animal on land that could compare to the ferocity of those things. Hold on a second. Euphemious needed to take that back. There was one animal in the world that could match there frenzy rage. Only one beast that could compare to those monsters. That creature was man, and Euphemious was not talking about the normal men. The men from the high seas. They probably got shark blood in them now that he was thinking about it. The mighty Berserkers. There rage is unmatched and there battle frenzy is equally chaotic.
As Euphemious hit the land he began to gather up the harpoons. He was surprised that the trip was so short. He thought they were going to be out at sea longer. After only one catch they were back in. Euphemious thought they were going to be hunting all day. Still with the work and preparation it took to dine on the one he kind of understood. Still he thought the family would be out on the water catching extra to sell on the market. Maybe it was just him.
As the day drew to a close Euphemious took the time to take care of his armor. He was not wearing it at the moment, but it still needed to be maintain. This sea air had a rough affect on it. rust was trying to appear everywhere and the paint was starting to chip. Aeos mother had taken care of the outside, Euphemious was starting to love that women, but the inside needed some work. It would not take long since Euphemious went straight to work rather tan to let it sit.

The evening meal had finished cooking. By, evening the family had settled down and began to eat. The day's chorse completed and warm shark meat in their bellies. Tomorrow the cycle would repeat. Yasin and Aeos would go out into the sea and fish for more shark. They would have to catch more then one shark for that day. One for the meal, one for their reserves, and the other for sale. The family had more then enough to sustain them for the time being so even if luck wasn't in their favor tomorrow they would be fine.
Aeos had ideas of what he wanted to do after shark hunting season was over. He would go back to Vinland and see what sort of new adventures the island had for him. It had been a bit since his last encounter and he still really wanted to climb up and down their mountain ranges. He still had to finish exploring every city the island had. And he still needed to learn as much as he could about the taguel culture. He still had so many new foods to try.
He voiced this decision to return to the island with the family. His parents had a feeling he would be fine. Their son had become experienced in the ways of travel. And they would love to hear all of the new stories he would tell. After dinner the family continued their preparations for the night. The dishes would be cleaned. Floors would be re-swept. Animals would be fed. Aeos went ahead and prepared the yurt for sleeping.
"Hey Euph, what are you going to do after this?"

"After this", spoke the general as he began to think on the matter. At the moment he had fulfilled all of his obligations to his old war buddies. He had visited Sacae for his buddy Fin. He had seen Lycia with carver and now he had meet Aeos parents. There was nothing left on his bucket list to take care of. His family status was restored and his family sword had been found. everything he had once set out to do was done. Sure his cousins could probably use some help, but the knight had chosen to travel his own path when he started to wonder. His help would be nice but they did not need it. He carried the family name on his back during the rebellion it was now there turn.
"I don't really know", spoke the general. "I know that I don't want to let my skills root, but I am not sure of what I want to do. Maybe I will go on a training journey or join up with some of the guilds in Lycia. The monster threat needs to be dealt with. Another blade cutting down the beast will be welcome. I could always go home and join back up with the army I guess. Bern is still in a bit of chaos and the evil will of men still exist. There will always be a need for knights in the mountains of Bern."
Euphemious took a moment to look at his guan dao, it was so clean. Too clean when he thought about it. "For now I will focus on catching Sharks. We have a big day tommrow. I am going to need to be on my toes and so are you. those monsters need to be cooked."
