Name:Sigma Wolfhart
Class:Thief
Age:22
Born in:Edessa
Appearance:Height: 6'1"
Weight: 140lbs (now 145lbs because of the fights he's been getting into)
Hair: Grey
Sigma is definitly a thin and tall man. His naturally thin frame is perfect for his line of work as it lets him be naturally sneakier than other more muscular combattants. His short grey hair is pretty much always slightly messy due to his bandanna that almost never comes off.
Personality:Sigma's first defining trait would definitly be his thirst of knowledge. However, unlike a mage in his library reading tons of books and encyclopedias, Sigma much prefers to be in the heat of the action. Loving to hear about the recent wars and conflicts growing up, he now yearns to see history unfold before his very eyes.
He's a very nice young man. He might be a thief... but eh, he likes to consider himself more of an "information broker". He might not be lawful, be he definitely is not a mean person. If he sees a person in danger, he'll most likely lend a hand (maybe not like a paladin would, he still knows that retreat is sometimes the only option.)
His past jobs also made him quite savvy in most dangerous situations. Good at staying calm under stress, he's great at making plans on the fly.
History:Due to having not so present parents, he started early his life of thievery. His father was gone before he was born and his mother never really took care of him and abandonned him not long after his eight birthday. Starting with small crimes like petty burglary and break-ins, he soon realised he wasn't big on the whole "stealing thing", it wasn't difficult to live off of it, but it didn't really fulfill him. He always had a knack for finding rumors and random tidbits of information. Not only that, but he also loved to learn about the stories of the war heroes and their accomplishments on the battlefield that villagers would pass around in the tavern. The stories were his way to escape his somewhat boring life. Soon after, he started to become an information broker. It wasn't all "prestigious"... He still did things like commercial spying or sabotage, but what he really enjoyed was when he needed to find info on certain persons. Just like how he liked to learn about the mighty warriors of legend, he also was also great at finding information about other criminals or nobles. It wasn't long before he started getting a few jobs to find dirt on individuals of power. He did this kind of "detective work" for a few years before a crazy idea popped into his head.
He wished to see these warriors of legend that gave hope to his younger self with his own eyes! No more would he learn of their deeds in dusty inns from half drunk travellers! Who knows? Maybe he'd become an important figure himself? He did have notable skills which could be more useful than simply being a guy with a sword. It didn't take long after that decision that he had already prepared all he needed to go find his calling.
Prepared to go on an adventure of his own, his determination to be apart of something great is what he hopes will be his true strength in this world.
NPC fight:I feel you should remember to always talk about what the npc is doing. He's not a cardboard cutout waiting for you to make your move. For example, let's say you're fighting a commoner. He won't stand there. He's gonna pick up tools or rocks or anything he can get his hands on to get a chance to run away. He might even try to attack you if you don't look menacing (Sigma doesn't wear heavy armor so it makes sense that a farmer wouldn't be as scared as if he was in front of an armored knight.)
You also have to remember that an npc can hurt you. Just saying it took time to take him out doesnt cut it. There should be a chance that you can get injured. Even if you fight against an Npc, there should be a risk (maybe not as big since you do want there to be a difference) similar to a PC fight.
PC fight:Well it should be fun for both parties. You know, give and take right? The point should be that the fight ends up interesting, not just one party overpowering the other one (unless it's like trainees going up against promoted classes or something, being realistic here.)
Also I feel that outright killing your opponent is a real danger, but i still think that the two combattants should both agree if one of them dies by the end of the fight (would suck if you lose your favorite charatcer you know? Sometimes simply KOing the guy ala Pokemon is good too. Hope i'm not going against this forum's rules by saying this.)
So i guess, remember your character's strenghts and weaknesses and keep it fun for all fighters?
