"The beach sounds like a better idea. It also sounds like it would be something closer. Sort of." He stopped ripping into his meat and potatoes for a moment to think. His mind flashed a very brief image of the map he had acquired.
"I.. think that it might be a bit too far to walk. I know there's a river and lake system to the north of us. Probably, about a week's walk up. There's also a small river towards the west. That's a lot closer. Maybe about a day and a half away." He nodded softly. Satisfied with that answer.
"Use my wind powers to direct the waves.. uh.. somehow I don't think it will work that way." Maybe it WOULD work that way if he was a manakete. But, Aeos was not. He was born a dragon like his father before him. If anything his mother might have been able to pull something off like that back in her hay day. But, those days were long gone. He paused for a moment staring at his food. The Scouring and Ending Winter were centuries before his own creation. And yet millennia later the world and it's inhabitants were still dealing with it's effects. He knew that the Scouring was one of many reasons why he had not had a good handle on his element like some of the other dragons he had met. Locke could make sculptures out of the earth with his own magic. That was something he assumed required a tremendous amount of focus and diligence. Something, he sometimes lacked.
"I think it would be faster if I ran out and extinguished the embers with a bucket." He grinned softly. He could see himself doing that in a half shifted state. He could also see himself pouring the bucket of water over Bee as a practical joke. The kid in him giggled at the thought.
"Worry not. I have been roughing it out on the island for a bit now. I can get us safely to that river bed in the west and back."

"Aeos", spoke Bee as she gave him a fake disgusted look. "Who do you think you are talking to", asked the maiden as she crossed her arms over her chest? Bee poked her chest out and placed her nose in the air. "I am the greatest fire mage to ever grace the mortal plain. There was no way that I, the Bee, would be scared of roughing it out in the woods. Don't underestimate my magical power!" As Bee finished she called upon the power of flames from her tome. The book, which was strapped to her hip though a special holster, lit up like a jack-o-lantern. Suddenly fire spirits danced in the air taking on the visage of flames. The flames followed Bee's command and took the form of letters floating in the air. As predictable as possible the letters formed only one name, Bee. The maiden basked in her own imaginary glory as she showed off a bit of her control over her flames. Bee had been practicing control for quite a while now and she was starting to get good at it.
As much as Bee blustered and showed off she was actually quite terrified of the outside woods. She had been to vinland only one time before and she nearly lost her life that time. The creature here are uncannily powerful. So much so that Bee had to wonder how in the world did the natives live here. She had set a creature completely on fire once and it shrugged off the flames wit ease and continued its assault on the caravan. It took a well placed regal axe from a hero to finally take the beast down.
After finally coming down Bee returned back to her meal. She had finished most of it, but she still had some ale left to drink. "Well I am going to have to take a few days off of work", spoke Bee aloud. She did not regret it, but she knew her boss was going to complain. Bee had told them when she joined she would not be permanent and that she might leave soon. So her taking a few days off should not be to much trouble, well for her at least. For them they would have to go back to using the old way of smelting metal. Production would drop back to the old standards and as a result less money.

Aeos smirked lightly at Bee’s hurt facade. She made a point to prove that she was the greatest fire mage of all time. Even going so far as to write her name in fire letters. To which Aeos promptly blew out after a few moments.
“We are still indoors, oh great fiery one.” He spoke in a half serious half sarcastic tone.
“Too much fire will still burn you … and the rest of us with it.” He cautioned before finishing his meal. He could sense that Bee had made some stride in her fire mastery. She'd come along way from being a pupil. All that was left on his plate were crumbs and bone. He reached into his pouch and pulled out some coin. He asked the waitress how much, then paid for both meals.
“Well I've got the time Bee. Work it out with your boss. I'll be in the area until you say yes or no.” He looked pleased. This city was shaping up to be quite the prospective home. He could see a neighbor in Bee. There were supplies available to him. The pub served tasty meals. And he had a chance to make a home somewhere along the city limits. This place was crawling with humans and taguel. Many of whom had never seen a dragon before. So some level of caution was still needed.
“Hmm.. I for one am thinking of a little shopping. My folks would love a little souvenir of this place.” He mused. He hoped to convince Bee to join him.

"I have control over my flames", whimpered Bee as her mind flashed back to a incident in the past. Where she had accidentally burned down the hut she was staying in. In her defense however Bee was not doing the name trick. Instead she was trying to burn or cook something. She could not remember at the moment, but that was not important.
"So you plan on picking up a few goodies for your folks", chuckled Bee. In her mind Bee saw two fat dragons sitting on gigantic chairs. One of them was knitting a gigantic sweeter and the other one was place wood into the fire. She could see a cabinet in the background filled with small human size objects. Focus Bee, thought the maiden as she pulled herself back to reality. Still what in the world would you buy a dragon. They could already shoot fire, well some of them. Aeos family probably could not, but what in the world would a dragon want. Bee had to think on that one for a moment.
"So, Aeos, what in the world are your parents into. We have a lot of stuff in town. Fur coats, rugs, capes, and even specialty armor. There are swords, lances, and even axes. You could find some wooden sculptures near the outskirts of town and some clay work on the eastern side. The really good stuff comes out of mid town. That is where you will fine some of the finest blacksmith in town. If you want a gift that keeps on giving then you could always buy them a good blade. The shops there sell both weapons and tools. A wood cutting axe, or maybe some study knitting needles."
Bee began to think on all the things she saw in town. If her mother was still alive she most definitely would have bought her something by now.

"Well.." He spoke with his elbow on the table. He was leaning on his hand. He was thinking about his parents. He was thinking of them and their hobbies. He knew his dad was fond of tending to the animals they herded around in their travels. His mind's eye could see him now. Out with the chickens talking to each one of them. Complementing them on their eggs and fuzzy yellow chicks. He'd wake up sometimes before the rooster's crow. He even recalled one chick nesting on the top of his turban one time. He knew how his father loved a good drink.
His mother was a domestic goddess. A woman who loved to cook and provide for others. She was a fan of elegant silks and jewelry. While she did not wear any luxurious gems on her person for fear of being robbed. He knew she kept a small stash of jewelry in a box amongst their cargo. She loved fresh flowers, sweets, and to sing.
"It's strange.. I know all the things they like.. but I am not sure what to pick." He realized he had thought all of that and not actually had said anything.
"Flowers and food would not survive the journey back. Jewelry would get stolen. I think my mother would like some nice fabrics. Something light in both color and texture. She can make a sari out of it. I think father would like some of the island's finest wine. But I fear that will spoil before it gets there.." He kept thinking.
"He's always grooming his beard. Perhaps a new beard comb or a kit of some sort. But he is also due for some new clothes and shoes. Or perhaps I should have them upgrade their tools.. Huh.. this is hard." He scratched his head.
"It's a good thing I've got the greatest fire mage alive to help me. Can you show me around? Perhaps, I will see a good gift before I think it." He got up and offered Bee his arm. --

"Alright first off wine does not simply spoil", chuckled Bee as she skipped down the road. The maiden had dragged her dragon friend out toward the market area. It was clear that Aeos was thinking in the right direction, but he was far to inexperience in the field of gift buying to know all the basics. "The only time wine goes bad is if something is wrong with the cork and the temperature is not kept cool. Both of those things can easily be fixed by chosing a proper ship captain to deliver your goods. There is one captain I know of, Captain Bartholomew Cruelseas. That man has delivered many a wine bottle before to the major ports. He has lot of experience and a discipline crew, it should get there.
As Bee finished talking the duo ended up in front of a large expanding section of Vinland wines. All of the exotic fruits that were on the island were present and even the more classical grape wine was there. Looking at it all Bee felt a bit overwhelmed. She drunk wine sure, but never in large quantities. It was usually just a small cup before dinner. Someone once told her it was good for both her soul and health, so she made it a habit. Other than that Bee mostly avoided alcohol, mainly due to the nature of her favorite magic. She was going to need to keep her brain moving at full capacity at all times. Getting drunk was not a option for a fire mage. Leaving that idea behind bee still was going to have to go though the daunting task of picking out a bottle, well Bee was not going to be the one choosing. That was Aeos job. She simply lead him to the water, the horse was going to have to drink.
"Another thing", added Bee as it hit her mind. "Jewelry could make good gifts as well. If you want to avoid it being stolen make sure you wrap it up before giving it off to be shipped and that you buy objects that are not gold or silver. Most people don't bother stealing copper and bronze pieces. Jewelry like that may not be as flashy as gold, but it can do the job. A unique bracelet or earrings can catch a women's eye far better than a simple gold band. Not to mention you can polish copper up just like gold. It can be as shinny as you are willing to spend time polishing it."

Aeos appreciated Bee's input. He did not know wine did not spoil. Well, he knew it lasted a long time if prepared and preserved properly but he figured it had a shelf life like all things. He was also very happy to see that Dawsbury had such a diverse market. He loved to window shop. He took note of all the different variations of common items. Like their vases and weapons. Many were well crafted. Some had a nature motif about them. He picked out some things to send home. A vase in the shape of askos it reminded him of a genie's lamp. It had a design of it of olive branches or at least he thought it was olive branches. It could have easily been that of a native plant with similar looking berries. The vendor told him it was mostly used to hold oil for lamps. Something he thought would be useful for his folks.
He also grabbed another vase. One in the shape of a long neck with a fatter bottom and one that looked like it could be the centerpiece of a table. He liked the designs on them one of the sea and the other of the forest. He also picked up some nice looking fabrics and a sewing kit he knew his mother would like. For his father a new set of fishing knives as well as a sharpener for them. Yes, he thought these would all make fine and practical gifts for his traveling family. He'd have to figure out arrangements to have it sent back to the mainland once he returned to Aurion himself. But that won't be for quite some time. He enjoyed his time shopping with Bee. And as thanks he bought her whatever item she wanted within reason. --
A few days had passed. And Aeos had slowly gotten the hang of the city. He learned a few things about the territory like where all the water sources was. He had studied a more detailed map of the area closely. And he even did a few little jobs here and there. Mostly as dishwasher and waiter towards the pub patrons. He liked to hear the stories of the people as they passed through the pub for some grub. The weather was unseasonably warm too so he was forced to remove the sleeves off of his tunic. Showing off some of his muscular arms and tribal tattoo. He highly doubted someone would recognize it as the symbol of his family's dragon clan. The day came where he would take Bee out to the woods with him. Out towards the river's edge and there that's where they would train.
He waited by the city gates for his pink haired friend.

Bee sat there for a moment staring at the red orb on her table. She wondered if Aeos even know what he had bought her. She was sure he did not. If he did he would have never bought it. Bee was already enough of a danger with her fire magic, she really did not need any more flames. However Bee was Bee. The maiden could not stop when it came to fire and explosions. Since Aeos had offered to buy her something Bee decided to get the gift that kept on giving. It was a simple set filled with paper, a bit of oil, and some fine powders. For the untrained eye, like Aeos, it was simply a toy meant for small tricks. What it really was was the secrete fire mine that had been spreading across Elibi for quite some time. Bee had bought a assembled one, but after spending a few days taking it apart and studying it Bee learned how to construct it. Now she could make all the fire mines she wanted. Of course Bee was a novice at this skill and mixing the ingredients took time and delicate hand. At the moment Bee could only make one a day, and the red orb in front of her at the moment was her first one.
"Alright time to get moving", spoke Bee as she took the red orb and placed it into a bag filled with sand. She then stored it away in a safe place in her gag and removed the primer from the bomb. She could not risk it going off in her bag. The maiden then made her way toward the city gates. She made a extra effort to skip all the way there. It had been a long time since Bee had skipped and she figured she deserved the luxury.
"Hey Aeos", shouted Bee as she arrived at the gate. She saw her dragon friend waiting for her.

He had everything that he thought they would need packed. A few bed rolls. Lots of things to make a camp. A hatchet to chop wood. He'd have to teach Bee how to sleep in trees. That's what he'd been doing this whole time in the forest. Sleeping in the trees to avoid whatever happened to be crawling down below. He had his trusty pot, pan, and mugs. As well as a few materials to make tea with. He had also brought with him two days worth of food. Perhaps he could teach Bee how to make traps. He also had a basic first aid kit in his bag. Just in case something happened in the wild. He hoped that nothing would go wrong. However, there were things in the forest that were dangerous. Giant versions of Elbian monsters. Possible hostile Taguel. Plus a whole host of possible angry swarming insects.
"Heya Bee." He waved and greeted.
"You ready for the trip through the forest?" He asked. He hoped she was ready. The city was very nice and all but part of him was eager to get on with the training. He'd been itching to test out the capabilities and defenses of his half shifted self. Plus, since they would be alone, they could talk about other things. Dragon things in relative safety. He was sure Bee had more questions for him ever since the incident in the Ilian Mountains. Now that he remembered, Bee had never seen him half shifted. She'd never seen him act the way he did when literally the other half of him takes over. He hoped they didn't do anything to upset her along the way.

Aeos seemed a bit worried about the trip, thought Bee to herself. To be honest she could not blame him. The woods were a dangerous place. She had visited them a few times, but only in big groups. Even then it was a danger. Now to be moving out with two people, it was going to be a real tour. To be honest however Bee was not really worried. She was, even thought it is self proclamation, the greatest fire mage in the world, and Aeos was a dragon. What in the world could challenge them. If things did go south Aeos could always go full form and whip the floor with whatever it was that cause them harm, or if it is that bad they could always fly away. Speaking of which Bee needed to make a mental note to ask Aeos about that. With the animal people all running around what was the status of him being a dragon being held like? Well that was a question for the road.
"Yeah I got everything." Bee let out a big smile as she thought back to her new secret project in her bag. She had plans on the best way to use the thing. "I got my sleeping clothing, my tent, some pots, a pan, my tome for the bugs, some oil, some hair grease, a jar of ammonia, two towels, a blanket, three sets of spare clothing, tooth brush, a jar of preserve jelly, some jerky, binoculars, a book on battlefield medicine, the theories of magic, some bandages, my mothers blacksmithing hammer, my battle rod, my chain whip, smoke bomb, flash bomb, wind grenade, some paper, a vile of ink, a piece of chalk, a kitchen knife, a silver spoon, and last but not the least my Hartmut plushy doll. I think I brought everything I needed. Oh almost forgot, a few coals for a fire with a bit of dust to change the color"

"Well it sounds like you have everything you need." Aeos nodded. Wait.. a Harmut plush doll? He knew Harmut was one of the eight heroes. Now there were two thoughts that crossed his mind. One, he found it adorable that Bee still slept with a plush doll. For all the growing up she had done in their time apart it was still kinda cute to see that she still did childish things. But, she slept with a plush toy of a known dragon killer hero. And her friend was a dragon. Hmm.. He wasn't sure if to be offended or amused.
"I wonder if that plush is accurate." He mused out loud.
"Most I've got to a toy doll is a hard metal idol named Oscar." He could definitely tell her the story of how he met Oscar. And of his other adventures with his friends as they traveled. Aeos nodded and motioned for Bee to follow him. He led her into the forest. He tapped into a small portion of his draconic powers. Mostly to tap into his senses and heighten them. When there was a particularly annoying bundle of vines impeding their way. He quickly clawed at them to clear the path. Aeos was like a swiss army knife of survival tools. His powers allowed him to claw his way through rough vegetation. His strength let him move fallen logs. And his heightened senses allowed them to keep on the path.
By nightfall they were about three-quarters of the way there. Aeos successfully set up a camp and he was cooking a simple dinner of meat he had bought in town and some berries. There was water in the kettle. And in the mugs were tea leaves, ready for the hot water to be poured. Aeos sat down on a log and kicked his sandals off. He was certain that there wasn't anyone else near by thanks to his powers.
"Alright. So, were kinda alone here. I know you've been dying to ask me some questions that couldn't be asked out in public. This is a good time to start."

"Unfortunately no", spoke Bee as she thought back onto her little doll. It was nothing special really. It was just pieces of cloth sewed together and stuffed with cotton. The facial design was simple and the only reason you could tell it was hartmut was due to his crown and the two swords it held in its hand. Bee wished he had something more detail, but paint usually does not hold up well on these kind of projects and sewing the colors in usually ended up with the design distorted. Bee figured it would be another hundred years before craftsmen could do anything closer to what Aeos was talking about. Still that did not stop be from enjoying the one she had. She had one of herself to, but she was going to save that for another day.
As the duo made there way though the woods Aeos began to show off more of his dragon powers. It was weird to be honest. Bee did not know dragons could partially change like that. She figured it was full dragon or no dragon. The way Aeos used it it was more like a tool than a transformation. Still Bee had her own problems to worry about. As they pushed there way thought the woods the bugs came out to play. They were small things, but they would bit and come back to bite again. Bee, like so many others, was quickly annoyed by these tiny insects. Eventually she decided that she had enough. When a swarm of them came in Bee called upon her magic. With a snap of her fingers she caused a small explosion of flames to erupt in the air turning the little bugs into falling bit size embers. For the ant crawling on the ground it was a hellish scene. The sky lit up with fire as members of the insect clan fell from the sky in burning crumbled corpses. For Bee it was justified retribution.
As the group set up camp Bee let a load off. "Man that was tiring", she wined aloud. The maiden then opened up her bag and pulled out her essentials for the night. She wanted to take a bath, but that was not a option out here. Instead she pulled out a few objects and began to make perpetration to set up a tent.It was then that she remembered Aeos talking about sleeping in trees during the trip. Instead of setting up her tent on the ground he maiden climb up a nearby tree and used the tarp and ropes to make a kind of bed. Bee had forgotten the name of it, but it was a simple createion. She just tied ropes to both ends of a piece of thick cloth and tied them to the tree. She then laid in the middle of it and allowed herself to be suspended above the ground. Using some extra ropes she provided extra support to prevent the cloth from ripping and used the tarp from her tent to cover the top to prevent bugs or rain. After creating her bed for the night Bee hung out on the ground to talk with Aeos. The dragon was then ready to receive questions.
"Well first off", spoke Bee as she pulled out a push of herself from her bag. She had a friend of her's make it before they left for the trip. It was a rush order and thus Bee had to pay extra, but she figured it would be a good gift. She for one like the hair part which was made to stand straight up. "Here you go, a gift from me to your folks. I am sure they will like it. It is the worlds greatest fire mage after all." A wide smile crossed Bee's face. She liked the title, despite the fact she was sure it was not true.
"Anyway I do have a few questions I would like to ask. So here we go. Is it ok for you to tell people you are a dragon? You know with all the animal people running around you would think it would be ok. Have you tried flying over the woods? Have you meet any fire dragons since we last meet? How old are you Aeos? What your favorite color? How do you kill a druid? How long have you been on the island? what is the worst thing that has ever happen since you been here? How in the world do you do that half shift thingy? Is it possible for humans to gain such power? Have you ever fought in full dragon form, and last but not least are we there yet?"

Aeos grinned a bit at Bee's slew of questions. It was really nice to see that somethings haven't changed at all in the young maiden. He remembered being asked a flurry of these questions back up at the mountain's summit. He was in a foul mood then but he was in a good one now.
"Alright Bee. I'm ging to answer one question at a time." He spoke as he poked a stick into the embers.
"First. Thank you for the hair gel. I'm sure mother would like it to make her hair curl or put my father's beard in amusing shapes for entertainment." He could actually see that happening.
"Now to answer the questions. Uh.. No. It is not alright to tell people I'm a dragon. There are people from Elibe here now. And I fear if word got out that there was any sort of dragon living here on the island peaceful or not they would bring the weapons of the Scouring here with them and ruin this wonderful place." They are kind of ruining it already! His other half chimed in an annoyed voice in his head.
Aeos carefully removed the kettle from the fire and poured the hot water into his mug. The green tea leaves on the bottom of the mug would release a greenish concoction that he would drink in a few minutes. He put into the mug a slice of lemon like he had seen another taguel do earlier.
"I have not tried flying over the woods. My dragon form is big. And pretty darn obvious. Like I said i'm trying to be discreet. No to the fire dragons. Did meet an earth and lightning dragon though. They were cool. I punched one in the face and the other punched me in mine." FUN TIMES! We should find a way to meet Nayru again. We should also check up on Locke at some point too. He mused to himself and took a moment to blow then sip at his tea.
"Let's see.. I'm about five hundred or so years old. Give or take fifty years. Which to a dragon.. Uh.. i'd say is the equivalent to a human being uh a teenager. Late teens. Yeah. That." That sounds about right, right?Sick manly beards when? Humans have them growing by their later teens. Why not us? What did it take to grow one of those things? Was it so wrong for him to want one? A beard. The most obvious symbol of masculinity and wisdom.
"My favorite color.. that's a hard one. I like blues, greens, pinks, reds. Mostly cause they are associated with edible things. Blueberries, green apples, peaches, berries... Uh.. You kill a druid the same way you kill any human?" He shrugged.
"I've been on the island for a few months now. Not consecutively. I've had to go home a few times in between. Worst thing that happened.. probably punching the earth dragon in the face." He shook his head.
"We.. were trying to make a peaceful first impression to the taguel as dragons. HE didn't get that memo and I had to stop him before the situation got worse. Now thanks to HIM.. dragons look like huge jerks in the eyes of a few taguel." He sighed. Perhaps he should have been more descriptive with Locke. Or given Locke more time. He didn't know. But the prissy earth dragon deserved that punch.
"I.. want to try and move my parents here one day Bee. One day. So that they won't always be stuck in Nabata.. In that desert that doesn't grow anything." He looked to the fire with a bit of a serious expression. There was more to it then that. Another reason why he wanted to bring them here. But he didn't feel like bringing that up with Bee.
"That half shift ability.. well it's called just that. Half shifting. I think it's unique only to dragons. Individually.. I don't think Humans can do that no. And to be honest Bee you humans as a collective have so much destructive power already.. I don't think y'all need MORE of it. Especially since all humans seem to do with it is fight." He leaned back a bit.
"Full form fighting.. I think.. I did it three times? One with the earth dragon as a friendly spar.. the other while fighting off monsters. And the wyvern incident in Ilia. Bee, It takes a LOT of energy for me to do that. And sometimes I can't control it. So I try not to and only fight full shifted unless I REALLY need to." He quietly checked up on the meats. He liked his to have a little bit of pink in the center. He tore a piece of it open for a moment just to check how far it was cooked. He deemed it edible.
"And we should be there by tomorrow afternoon. Meat's ready if you like it with some pink. If not give it a few minutes."

Bee did not care for pink meat. Mainly due to her paranoia over parasites. She had read enough books on the nasty little devils to know the dangers of pink food. However that did not stop Bee from taking some of it. She cut herserlf off a good portion of the meat and then pulled out a metal bowl. Calling upon her fire magic Bee began to heat up the bowl and the food directly. The meat began to sizzle and the juices inside began to pop all while Bee watched with glee. In a matter of minutes Bee had turned the pin brown. Now it was ready to eat.
"Alright", spoke Bee as she stabbed a fork into the meat and bit off a little piece. She was waiting on the air to cool down the food before she really dug in. "So Aeos, I am sure there are a thousand and one question you want to ask me right. Well go ahead. I can't really expect you to be a open book if I myself am not open." With that Bee began to eat her food, slowly, but she was eating.
As Bee and Aeos sat around the maiden could not help but think toward the jungle that was around them. This place was known to be deadly. Monsters around every corner and such. Here they were having a nice meal around the fire with not a care in the world. Bee could not help but feel on edge. She was expecting something to jump out and attack them at any moment. There were so many angles in which one could attack and so many places to hide. Bee could only prey that they were truly safe and that there fire had not drawn any attention. This was going to be a very ... interesting trip, thought the maiden.

Aeos was calm and happy to be here. Sharing this meal with Bee. In the jungle forest of potential horrors and death. His dragon senses were on high alert though. He could hear and smell things that were beyond the scope of most humans. He knew that they were safe. The fire was small. Just big enough to cook their meals. It was a warm night too. Aeos had a large jug of water at the ready to put out the fire before the pair retired to their beds.
"Well, I'm curious to know what you've been up too. You got a job as a smither. It means you passed an apprenticeship somewhere. And you've gotten much better with fire magic.. means you've been practicing. And your stronger too.. means you've been fighting." He frowned a bit at that last one. Children should not be left to fight the wars of adults. But, he knew that this world was unkind. And sometimes children needed to fight to stay alive. Survival of the fittest and all that jazz. He knew that more than anyone. And this place Vinland, exemplified that.
"I'd like for you to tell me how you've been doing all that? All of the places you've seen and the adventures you've had." He really wanted to know more about who was chasing Bee. And why did she want to kill a druid? He really wanted to travel with her and help her out of whatever bind she was in. Like any other big brother like guardian would. Once, Bee told her life's story, the night would be upon them. He'd have to usher her to bed while he finished making any last minute safety preparations for the camp. He'd be sleeping in the same tree as her although on a different branch.
