Everything was conjecture and mystery huh? Well, he really had no contest for that one, she was absolutely right. But even then the things that are accepted as truth are always in flux, heh flux, and often what is fact and not are confused and twisted often enough.
But the topic was changed from that and to the subject of why they originally were here. Oh yeah, she was going to give him the money for a room to stay in. "Oh... uh, yeah, you're right. I don't want to ruin YOUR bed." He decided to laugh it off. But boy did it sound a little disgusted. "Don't worry, as soon as I can I will visit a bath house and clean everything up." He pounded his chest with a fist in a sort of 'on my honor' way. "I really don't enjoy looking like this after all."
Better her than Hildebrand? No kidding, he laughed to her joke. "Yeah, I am glad it was you and not her." He shook his head and shuddered just imagining what would have happened if she was the one to save him. No, if it was Hildebrand that would not be a rescue, it would have been just another kidnapping and whatever she would do, or wherever she would take him would not have been a pleasant thing. He decided not to dwell on that woman, she represented something dark from his past, and he had no interest in delving into that. If he could leave it forgotten then perhaps he can escape it.
As Althea turned over the payment for his stay he took it gratefully and offered her a smile and a small bow. "I really do appreciate this Althea. I owe you a lot and I fully intend to repay you for it. I will clean myself up and get some new clothes for tomorrow. The least I can do to help you is getting you that staff." He smiled and with a small wave he excused himself from her room. Before the end of tomorrow the two would go their separate ways, he knew that, but he felt a desire to go on adventures with her all the same. When he was on the other side of her door he realized he never did make her that meal, but at least the fruit was still with her, hopefully that would be enough.
