Name:Kolos Herceg
Class:Shaman
Age:19
Born in:Thira
Appearance:Standing at 5 feet and 11 inches (180.34 centimeters), Kolos is cloaked in a, well, black hooded cloak that is highlighted by a red accent. He is slightly lanky for his size, his height comes from his legs more so than his torso. He has a rather average frame, not that muscular of a man, but certainly not noodle-armed due to his time he spent mining. Underneath his hood holds his chocolate brown hair and his jade green eyes. He wears a light gray overcoat that has golden yellow embroidery edge line. His dark brown pants are slightly baggy. Slinged under his cloak is a brown messenger style bag that holds his tomes and other supplies he carries with him. To finish the look, he wears simple brown sandals.
Personality:In his normal appearance, Kolos is a rather aloof and arrogant individual. He feels like he is better than most due to his intelligence, yet he keeps that opinion to himself mostly. He comes off as cold hearted and that is all there is to it, because he is at this point in his life. Although, despite all of the bad things about him, he still has some redeeming qualities. If you get him in a good enough mood, he won’t be a complete jerk, and will actually talk to you like a normal human being. A lot of times he won't actually say anything mean per se, it is just that he is going to try to ask you to leave indirectly with the cold shoulder. That, and a lot of times he is just too tired to put up a proper rude comment.
Going into a more in depth view, starting with his view on people, Kolos is not really keen on the idea of socializing. He feels it is wasting his time, when he can be doing much better things, such as continuing his study of the arts, or testing new spells.
Speaking of his studies, Kolos makes that his biggest priority seeing as he doesn't have an academy, or any true mentor he could find that would be willing to assist him further his knowledge. That, and doing what he can to find money to survive, be it whatever. The reason for this is because nothing would accept him as a student because of the small amount of money he could offer.
His search of money means he is willing to do any job that offers enough coin. If it means he can also further his knowledge is an added bonus, yet that isn't a necessity for him.
When it comes to the people he cares about, Kolos will try his hardest to assist them in any way he can. However, he does realize there is a reality to every situation and he can't go sticking his neck out for all situations. Though he cares, he usually doesn't care enough to risk his life, that is unless compensation, preferably in coin, is available.
When it comes to people Kolos doesn't know, he usually is rather reserved and it takes awhile for him to truly open up to people. He also isn't very keen on trusting many others, which could play against him at times because why would someone trust you, when you don't trust them? Even if it came to someone who saved him in battle, he still wouldn't put his entire well-being in their hands. He'll jump in to save them, but he tries to be extremely cautious because he doesn't know if anyone is watching his back.
When it comes to his sense of morals as in who would he support in a fight, that comes down to who is offering the higher pay. To him, it doesn't matter who rules what land as long as it means he can continue his studies in peace.
To finish this section off, Kolos can be a rather adventurous guy, at least to get materials that is. He isn't afraid to go into a monster den to go gather something they might have, or if he knows he is strong enough to defeat some monsters, or brigands, or whatever might be in his way, he would go slay them if needed, grab what he needs, and be on his merry way.
History:Kolos was born into the world with a father who was a miner in the mountains near Thira, and a mother who was a local seamstress. Growing up, Kolos was a rather curious boy. He wanted to go and learn things about the world about him and study all the material this realm offered. However, his parents seemed to have different plans for him. They wanted him to stay home and help the family out to gain money to support his two younger siblings Renea and Albert.
Although he didn't really want to get caught up with the family business of mining for ore and minerals, he did what he had too. In his off time, he would always go off to the closest library, or any source of books he could find to study. Though he wanted to learn all things, his primary focus went into the study of the magical arts, especially the dark arts. The idea always fascinated him, so he thought he could self teach himself. He even tried out his spells he learned in secret, though for awhile it didn't work all too well.
When he had turned sixteen, Kolos felt he had enough of trapping himself into this lifestyle he didn't want. He knew if he didn't do anything to get out of Thira, he would never be able to pursue his dreams of the magical arts. So in the dead of night when his family was all asleep, he packed some food, coins, and clothes, wrote a note to his family, and marched out the door in search of a certain magical academy. This academy being the one in Delfia.
During his one year journey, he read what he could find in the regions he passed through, and learned of the tales that spread. What caught his interest the most was the rumor of what was transpiring in Laus, considering it was near his hometown. He also learned that his path would become more and more dangerous the further he goes, and yet he still continued. Along his way, he had to fight off a few bandits, a monster here or there, which allowed him to test some spells out that he didn't think he would be able to try.
Once in Delfia, he went straight to the magic academy to request enrollment. However, his dreams were shattered when he learned that he didn't have enough money to afford a tuition. The boy was crushed, yet he still held some hope. He tried doing oddball jobs here and there to try and gain some money, but it didn't help as all of it went to him affording food. He went in search of a mentor he could be an apprentice of, yet no such luck remained.
Eventually, Kolos accepted defeat. He knew staying in Delfia wasn't going to help him, so he decided to go back from whence he came. Along his now two year slow journey home, his ears caught wind of the monsters that now roamed around Laus. He realized something because of this. If he couldn't ind someone to teach him, he will just do what he did all this time before: Teach himself.
So instead of heading home, he now went to torn Laus. He knew of the danger from the evil that lurked, but what was there for him to lose? To him, that meant him all the more opportunity to practice his dark magic. Once there, he settled in as fast as he could. He was now living in the aftermath of the past two years, but he didn't mind. With him working jobs as a tutor, gofer, safety escort, he could afford food and a roof over his head. This along with the fact that there is the vast amount of test subjects and ingredients he could gather from to continue his studies in the form of the monsters that were around, Kolos found himself in a better situation he could imagine.
NPC fight:"Perfect... Stay right there you feral beast..." Kolos muttered to himself as he crept ever so closer to the nest of a lone gargoyle. As he walked, he had his tome in his left hand, prepared to use it. His target was the ear of the beast so he could use it in a mixture he has been meaning to try.
Once in range, he raised his right hand and summoned forth the dark aura. "Prepare to die you monster!" he yelled as he shot the dark magic forward. To his misfortune, the gargoyle had dodged out of the way of the blast.
The beat let out a horrid screech as it lunged forward towards Kolos. "Not... TODAY!" He yelled as he blasted the monster at what was now a point blank range. The gargoyle flinched, but quickly went in once more.
With the grit of his teeth, Kolos ran to his left to avoid the attack and fired one more blast. Once it connected, the gargoyle's hiss rang though his ears as it crashed down to the ground.
"Hehe... Thanks for the slim pickings..." Kolos chuckled as he went over to claim the spoils.
PC fight:Now back in the heart of Laus from an ingredient hunt, Kolos let out a sigh. He scanned around the area to make sure it was safe, which from first glance appeared to be.
What he didn't expect was the new presence with him. Kolos turned to look at them, and had the feeling that they weren't going to be friendly with him. "If you want to speak with me..." He uttered as he reached his left hand into his bag to grab his tome. "Then you could have just asked."
With tome in hand, the circulating magic formed around his hands, along with an not so amused look on his face. "You've brought this upon yourself, you know?" He mused as he raised his hand to fire at the presence.
