Setting the Stage:
At a quiet Ilian inn...
The innkeeper perked up as the door to the Snowtip inn flung open. "Good to see you again, Vic. How's work?" He greeted cheerfully. The man he'd addressed, a larger fellow with a bit of a lumberjack aesthetic, approached the counter with a pair of heavy, confidant feet.
"Folk still need fur and my fur still needs wearing, so good." The larger of the two stretched out a sizable arm and grasped the innkeeper's hand in a firm shake.
"The usual?"
"Longer, this time." The large man snorted, glancing out the window. "Looking to stay a few nights. Seer I spoke with said a blizzard's rolling in."
"Ha! You really believe those yahoos?" A light flurry had started outside. Specks of snow, invisible to the inattentive eye, fell and melted upon the earth.
"They've been right more than once. Wind's been picking up. To my mind, the predictions are right. Besides..." He turned back to meet the innkeeper's gaze. "I've got the money. And it's been a while since I pampered myself."
"Well, hey. I don't intend to argue with a man looking to spend some money. And if it's some pamperin' you need" The innkeeper reached behind the counter and withdrew a modest, empty mug. "Then do I have the stuff for you. Pull up a seat, have a drink, tell me how the road's have treated you."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A ways off from the main counter stood an older looking woman draped in a purple cape. She bore a lance across her back and an axe at her hip. The axe in particular looked to be of sizable weight. One might say that she was armed to the teeth. Arms crossed, the woman stared out a window. The snow was still light, dancing at a leisurely pace. A deception. Ilia's blizzards started light, but got heavier and heavier the longer they lasted. The woman had suspected a storm was on its' way. The fur trader's conversation had only confirmed her suspicions. She turned, stomping her way back to the table and reached into a bag of traveling supplies. She removed several pieces of parchment, a vial of ink, and a quill, then quickly scribbled something on the page.
"Looking for mage. Preferable skill set includes training in wind, ice, or earth spells. If lacking preferred skills, then candidate must have basic knowledge of fire magic. Hell, an apothecary with a barrier staff will do. Reply quickly; Need to leave soon. If interested, head to the Snowtip tavern and look for a middle-aged woman armed and armored like a knight. If she scowls when making eye contact, you've found the right person."
-Payment negotiable.
The woman scribbled the same message on several other pieces of parchment, then littered them across the town's bulletin boards. And when that was done, she returned to the inn and peeled her eyes for any magically gifted individuals who entered the establishment. She'd go alone if needed, but experience had taught her the benefits of being cautious. And Luba knew well enough that a storm was coming.
TL;DR
I'm aiming to start threading with actual people again and had an idea for Luba which requires a mage. If interested post in this thread, or IM me and all three of my alts: Ravvus, Luba, Rowan.
