Overview
A March known for the highest quality stone, fair quality metal, and great masonry. The walls of Tania proper are large and strong. It's hall a looming construct that stands steadfast despite the marches many sorrows. Like the mountains they are nestled into, their people are strong and unyielding.
Tania was down in the dirt for some time. Plagued by brigands for a lengthy time, and heavily damaged in Bern's invasion of Lycia, Tania was on the brink of collapse. Most of its military in shambles, and with trade routes heavily plagued by bandits and looting Mercenaries, it was a dire time indeed. Until a group of wandering knights led by Merio D. Calderon came in to help stabilize the territory. Over the ensuing years Merio was able to help embolden the scattered and broken Tanian Ranks as well as train successive generations of recruits. With an effective presence soon sweeping through the countryside, Tania's brigands found themselves pressured. Trade routes secured, and dangers removed. With their economy slowly opening up again and the brigands chased out(and by product into Caelin) the March began to flourish slowly. Gardually securing their quarries and mines once more, they opened up trade and support into their northern neighboring marches where they found a hard earned stability. With this stability came a more gracious period as they began to enter an economic and military boom. Utilizing their economy to stimulate their military they have climbed from the bottom of the totem to a solid mid-range point. Not quite the super powers that Araphen, Pherae and Santaruz would appear but still earning a location on any marches list of desired allies.
Military
With the constant threats in earlier years of brigands, and Bern's invasion, Tania's military as grown rapidly from a vast increase in the common Tanian's desire to see their home safe and families well defended. Under training from Merio's knights the quality of their common soldier has also increased. However they have until recently lacked any outstanding aspect of their military. Until the introduction of Vinland. Trappers had quickly begun making a profit as they obtained a native species, known as the Griffon. Though wealthy individuals saw the exotic beast as a pet, their ferocity marked them as an aerial steed to match the pegasus or the wyvern in prowess. To this end, Tania's newfound wealth has been partially invested in obtaining a sizable number of Griffons. With training purchased from retired Ilian mercenaries, small units of Griffon riders can now be spotted patrolling the skies of Tania's most important locations. This was not only done to show their growing power but also as a message to their bernese neighbors. Next time, the wyvern riders of Bern would not find Tanian Airspace so easily conquered.
