Aeos smirked a bit at the shift in Gar's attitude. It was a while since the pair of them went to a pub together. Aeos wasn't sure if he'd ever seen Gar really hammered before. And part of him wished to see that. The other half of him argued that maybe getting the captain drunk before a voyage was a bad idea. He shook his head again. He needed to not think like that. The Dragon wanted to drink and eat and he should do that with his best friend.
Far expressed a desire to leave June on the ship. And Aeos nodded in agreement. Dragging arounbd such a heavy weapon while intoxicated wasn't good. Now that he thought about it weapons and drinks don't well at all. Aeos followed Gas back to the ship. The Dragon decided to wait for him on the dock.
He took a seat on one of the dock posts and contemplated things for a bit. He tried to remember the names and faces of everyone that was aboard the boat to Valor. Their faces were hazy in his minds eye save for Gar's. He remebered singing. Not from one of the men. But, something, a woman was singing. He shook his head again. Gar was back and the dynamic duo made their way to the Sea Serpent.
The Dragon took a look at the bar's sign. The picture of a large serpentine sea creature wrapped around a boat. Sea crates and snakes don't grow that big. He knew that. He had seen sea snakes on shorelines drying their breeding season. They were brightly colored, average sized, toxic snakes. So what monster drew the inspiration for this sign?
"Mountain had his reasons. You wouldn't give me if I told you. Ah, I remember the captain. And the other guy.. Carmichael. Huh.. I suddenly feel really puny." He patted his arms and pecs.
"Thank you." Aeos entered the bar.

Aeos was right, the crew did consist of some fairly large fellows. Not to mention that Aeos was still recovering his muscle mass from his time stranded at sea. That said, Aeos in his dragon form put every one in the adventure crew to shame in both size and strength. Gar wanted to express this thought, but they were in public, and he knew better than to speak so senselessly. That went double went the present company consisted of potential mercenaries and bounty hunters. Gar had thought about trying his hand at bounty hunting before. Not dragons of course but dangerous criminals. But that thinking was for another time, he was here to drink with his friend.
Gar downed his first mug of whatever grog it was as if he was on a mission. He wiped his mouth with his forearm and let out a breath combined with a chuckle. “Ahahar, that’s a nice drink there! I’ll take another one when you get a chance barkeep.” Gar addressed Aeos. “Drink up mate. I’m curious to see how long it takes to turn your tan cheeks red.” Gar smiled.
The barkeep returned with another mug for the berserker. While he had the bartender’s attention Gar asked about food. He wasn’t particularly hungry but he did want some snacks to munch on while he drank. The bartender replied. “Welp, we got some crabmeat that we can make into some patties for you all. Knowing our cook, it won't be anything special though.” Gar smiled.
“Aye, that would be perfect.” The bartender nodded and make his way to the backroom, where Gar assumed the kitchen would be. Gar took another drink. “Oh ho I am excited about the food, I almost cant wait.” Gar looked toward Aeos to see how he was enjoying his time.

Aeos accepted whatever drink was given to him. He took a moment to examine the frothy mead inside the wooden cup. Gar made a comment about wanting to see Aeos tipsy. He decided to respond with a joke.
"Just give me a sincere compliment. That usually does the trick." He smiled softly and took a sip. The drink was bitter but nothing he couldn't handle. He did spend years traveling among humans and occasionally sampling their drink. Usually, under the supervision of either his mother or father. Though this drink, at least to him, tasted like thin, foamy, slime. The color didn't help either. If given the option he'd rather have a straight shot of something harder like whiskey or bourbon. Or something sweet like wine or a mixed drink. And while he was certain Gar wouldn't mind him swapping his drink out for something more palatable, the dragon felt that it would be wrong to do so. Beggars cannot be choosers. Drink up. He took another swig of the mead.
"Hmm, with this..." He looked at the bartender. Don't offend.
"This.. draught.. it might take a few rounds." Though I don't want to drink more than one mug of this muck. He thought for a moment.
"Might need something a bit stronger if you want to me to be redder faster." Please. He hoped Gar took the bait and would order something different in terms of drinks.
"Crabmeat patties sound wonderful. Thank you." Hopefully he puts it on a bun. The dragon mused to himself. A song in the air caught his attention. He turned around to watch the songstress sing it. She sang of a lost sailor, a locket, and a love.
"Hey.. I know this one. The Nabatan version swaps the sailor for a merchant and the sea for the sand." He leaned his back towards the bar table. His finger followed the tune of the song. He even hummed along with it.

Gar had to smile when Aeos mention that he knew the song playing. It was a shanty from a long time ago, one that his father would even call old. He unfortunately couldn't comment on it without revealing any hidden information. So Gar just took another drink with a smile. He pulled the mug away from his face and wiped his mouth. He exhaled the fumes from he drink and made eye contact with the man behind the bar.
Aeos expressed a certain interest in stronger drinks. Gar certainly wasn't the type to turn down such an experience. "Oi oi barkeep. What kinda strong drink do you have?" The bartender scratched his chin for a moment and leaned forward to reply. "Well, we do 'ave a certain... shipment of rum that came through this morning. Can't say where its from or who's looking for it though." Gar laughed. Of course this place would be serving pirated liquor.
"How about four shots of that rum? What do you say mate?" Gar turned toward Aeos for the second question. The bartender nodded and moved to pour four shots in front of the two patrons. Another smile crept to Gar's lips as the smell of the liquor reached his nostrils. It had been a long while since he had a drink stronger than the average grog. Gar grasped one of the shots and held it up in Aeos' direction. He made sure to make eye contact with his friend as they clinked glasses.
The berserker tossed the liquid into his throat and swallowed quickly. He still winced slightly, an act that some of his mates would likely make fun of him for. Nevertheless, he let out the alcoholic fumes as the liquor began to warm his stomach. Soon it would be time for another one

Oh good he got the hint. Aeos mentally smiled to himself.
"Yes please." He nodded back at Gar when he suggested four shots of the mystery rum. The bartender poured out four shots. The dragon in human guise clinked his tiny shot glass with Gar's and drank the rum. The rum was harsh. It felt like acid going down his throat but it was weirdly good. The same kind of good one felt when they ate something spicy and survived the torture. He exhaled through his nose and distinctly felt the warmth of cinnamon in his breath. The dragon took a look at the empty shot glass in his hand.
"That was strong. But, better than the mead in my opinion." He put the shot glass down on the table. There was a small rustle in his belly as the acid in his stomach tried to make nice with the liquor. There was a warm feeling in his gut and it slowly trailed up his throat. He was a feeling pretty good right about now. His mind wandered a bit. Thinking back to the past, back to when he was younger, and sitting at a pub like this one. Sitting with his dad and learning about human beverages. How he coughed and soured on his first glass of wine. We've come so far. He turned himself around to face Gar.
"Looks like we've got a bit before those crab cakes are brought out." The dragon man looked at the next shot. He poked it slightly with his finger.
"I've been to many pubs over the years. And it always amazes me how they all seem to feel the same. I am not sure if it is due to the atmosphere.. or due to the alcohol." He grinned slightly.
"To a safe second leg of our journey." He raised the shot glass and waited for the ceremonial clink. He then chugged the second shot. He let out a hearty sigh and put the shot glass down.

“Strong drinks for strong men right?” Gar smiled as he watched Aeos poke at his second shot glass. Already ready for the next one it seems. The berserker gripped his shot glass and clinked it against Aeos’. “Aye, Half the world down, half to go.” That wasn’t entirely true. They had only been to three of the continent’s seven countries and the plan was to visit one more. That was also excluding Vinland. But it sounded cooler this way.
Nevertheless, Gar drank the second shot. He took this one better than the first. Perhaps, his body just had to get used to the assault on his senses. Or the liquor had already begun to dull those senses. Either way that’s what Gar was here for. “I think yer right mate. No matter where you go in the world, there’s bound to be a tavern with patrons. People from different places aren’t really so different.” Gar could extend the thought further to include dragons and taguel, but he kept his mouth shut on that front. Instead, he waved his hand at the barkeep and signaled for more drinks where he got a chance.
Gar shrugged as he took a drink from the mug of mead. “But what would we spend our time doing if we weren’t at each other’s throats all the time?” That question could be answered many ways. Learning, helping, probably training to fight the forces of darkness rather than each other. Gar’s train of thought was interrupted but a plate of crab cakes, side plates, utensils and a bottle of rum.
“Figured I’d leave the bottle wit ya. Yer good for it.” Gar nodded his head in thanks as the bartender left. It seemed that pirates could have a certain clout too. Gar picked up a fork and pierced a crab cake. He took a bite before transferring it over to his plate. It was surprisingly satisfying. He must’ve worked up more of an appetite than he had realized, walking from his parent’s home.

"Heh.. I like that.. Half the world down. And half world to go. and then to do it all over again." He smirked at that last bit. Aeos, in theory, could travel around the world forever if he lived that long. But, Gar, maybe, could do that journey twice. That would be something! Something other humans could be inspired to do.
"What would we be doing indeed? I think.. I think people would be busy finding some other of reason to be at another's throat. Or.. create something.. something that reminds us we need struggle to truly live." He blinked a bit. The dragon wasn't sure where that train of thought came from. Perhaps, it was the drink, relaxing him. Letting him talk with that inner voice in his head that secretly saw all of the negativity of the world. The part of him he liked to keep buried deep down underneath his persona of positivity. Then again he'd spent centuries observing nature during his travels. He recalled his parent's lectures about the harmonies and balances of the world. Prey, predator, life, death, these were all things he had seen, things he had all developed ideas about.
"Sorry. This is not the time to dwell on gloom. We've got food. Drink. And a place to be merry. I need to remember that." He spoke as he turned himself around to examine the crab cakes. The bartender left them the bottle of drink. Perhaps more drink is what I need. Though.. I can't.. remember if that ended good or bad for me last time. He grabbed a fork and jabbed it into the flakey patty. Why is all I can remember is being on the back of dad's camel. Perhaps.. it's for the best.
He lifted a forkful of meat into his mouth and savored the flavor. The patty itself was nothing to write home about, but something about enjoying bland food with a friend made it better. It felt good.

Gar tossed Aeos' words around in his head for a little while. He couldn't figure out which way it went. Did life cause struggle, or was it struggle that made people truly live? Either way, between his thinking and chewing and drinking, Gar didn't get a chance to speak before Aeos continued. "Ain't nothing to apologize for mate. You pose thoughtful questions. The kind everyone should consider in their time." Gar grabbed the bottle of took a swig. He wiped his mouth on the sleeve of the shirt his parents gave him. "But you're right my friend. Let's not forget the destination for our voyage. It's Bern's festival of freedom. Or something... like that." Gar trailed off at the end of his statement. He wasn't particularly well versed on the on goings of faraway places like Bern or Ilia. He would probably have to brush up before they sailed through the waters of Bern. Gar continued emphatically. "It's a celebration!"
Gar took another drink and gave the bottle over to Aeos. He already knew that they were going to get a late start in the morning. But he wasn't too concerned with this at the present moment. Gar spun in his chair and called out to the songstress. Her song had ended and she was taking requests. "Do you know that one... Uhhh it's like a lady and uhh the pond?" The woman called back. "Ahh. You must mean Lady of the Lake." She smiled and began to sing. Gar cheered. It was a happy tune, but had deeper lyrics. Gar just liked the imagery. The singer probably had this song requested a lot from the corsairs and sailors who came through the establishment. She was well-versed in the song. Gar turned back to Aeos with a very important question. "Do you play any drinking games in Nabata?" Or anywhere really, Gar just wanted to know if his friend had any fun games to play while they drank.

"The last drinking game I participated in.. got me involved in a wrestling competition." Aeos answered Gar's question. He choose not to mention said wrestling match involved him being half naked. Meeting up with another dragon in disguise. And the two of them flying off into the night like a pair of birds. Don't mention any of that. He let that comment sink in for a moment. The dragon greedily shoved a few more forkfuls of crab meat into his mouth.
"It was in the middle of a festival. I don't think the owner would appreciate anyone wrestling about in his establishment." He requested a cup of water to help chase the crab meat down. He didn't want to drink the next cup of hard liquor just yet. He took a few gulps of water and let out a satisfied sigh. As he listened to the song he started to think. The lyrics to the song held a deeper meaning then what they portrayed. And now he was left wondering what became of the minstrel who thought of the words.
"Hmm.. I've not.. yet done any Lycian drinking games. Let us try one out. What have you got?" He asked. Aeos knew he had limits to his drinks. And the last thing he wanted to do was drink himself into dragon mode. So he mentally agreed to himself not to overdo it in these games. The moment he felt sort of drunk he would pull himself out. I can do that. Right? No one will force the drink down my throat. What's the worst that could happen?

A smile crept to Gar's lips. "Aye. I remember a couple Lycian games." Gar stood up from his seat in preparation. "A knight once showed me a game called uhhh." Gar took a moment to recall the name. "Show off. Or show it or Something like that." Gar shrugged and continued. " The point of the game is to show the opponents something that you think you’re good at. Then if the opponents can replicate it, the show off loses and has to drink." Gar rotated his shoulders. It was a game that usually lasted for a couple rounds. Then people either got too drunk or bored with the concept before they moved onto a different game.
“I’ll start.” Gar tried to focus through his increasingly drunken state. He hopped off his legs and slammed his palms onto the floor. He held a handstand for a second as he adjusted his floating legs for optimal balance. He then began to walk on his hands in a circle around an empty bar table. The berserker then flipped his feet back over and raised his arms above his head in celebration. “Yahar. Now it’s your turn.” Gar took a sip to refresh himself after the effort. He took a seat. It just now occurred to him that an agility feat was a poor choice against Aeos. Not only was Aeos more agile than Gar was, if he used even a portion of his dragon power, the feat would be laughably simple.
Gar shrugged. No reason in speculating. It was Aeos’ turn to recreate the handstand walking around the table.

Aeos watched as Gar did his hand stand walk around the table. I'm impressed he.. still has that much coordination. He mused to himself. The rum was starting to affect the young dragon's mind. He was steadily developing that foggy haze that prevented higher thought. But, he wasn't about to quit on the first challenge. A handstand was something simple and he knew he could do it. He was pretty agile and spent several centuries training in hand to hand combat. He knew the limits and balances of his body.
He took a moment to brace himself. Then got on his fours and pulled himself upright with his hands. His shirt came up over him briefly. This small blunder showed off his abdomen, belly, and the dragon stone around his neck. The dragon quickly spread his legs briefly to achieve a balance. He used one hand to shove bits of his shirt under his pants. He tilted his head up, righted his legs, and slowly made his way around the table. The "walk" wasn't pleasant. There were grimy bits of god knows what all over the floor. And the sudden inversion of his body so shortly after both eating and drinking left a foul taste in his throat. Don't.. hurl.
He did his lap then carefully righted himself. The dragon gave himself a quick pat down. Everything seemed to be in order. He took a moment to look at his hands. All smudged with floor gunk and he wiped it all off onto his cloak. Once, he felt satisfied with his hands he took a sip of his drink. He held his head for a moment.
"I.. am to think.. of something now right?" He pulled his palm away from his forehead. Then looked around he spied a corner of the room with a colorful wheel of wood tacked onto a wall. He had to squint a bit to fully see it.
"Darts?"

Gar exhaled through his nostrils. His breath was warm, probably from the alcohol. Aeos deftly did a handstand and prepared walk around the table. Gar expected as much. He took his eyes off the slender tan Nabatan to scan the other patrons around the tavern. He saw a group of women who leaned into each other as they looked at Aeos. The ladies blushed and turned away as Aeos’ shirt fell over his head, revealing his midsection. By the time they had turned back, Aeos had tucked his shirt into his pants and began hand-walking. Gar wished he could hear the whisperings of the ladies but he was too far away. For what it was worth, he knew what they were whispering of.
Gar chuckled as Aeos regained his original orientation. “Well done mate. But I’m sure you know we’re starting easy.” Gar rolled his neck, forcing a few of his vertebrae to pop noisily. Aeos asked if it was his turn to decide a challenge. “Aye.” Then Aeos suggested the next task. Darts. Gar’s eyes found the darts and the dartboard. Gar reached toward the darts, opting to throw first.
“Ya know…”
Gar grabbed three of the yellow tipped darts as he rose from the bar.
“I never knew how to count the score in darts.”
Gar closed one eye to focus and chucked a dart at the board. Bullseye. Gar shrugged as he turned to Aeos. Gar accepted the challenge. He smiled and spoke loud enough for Aeos to hear over the other noise of the bar. “Is that good?” Gar sipped a beverage before he nonchalantly tossed two more darts at the board. The scores weren’t fantastic but hopefully the first dart helped make up for the poor scores from his next two throws.

Aeos didn't notice the bits of attention that were drawn his way. Instead he followed Gar over towards the area with the dartboard and picked up a trio of red tipped darts. His walk wasn't exactly graceful. The effects of the alcohol were starting to mildly affect him. He wasn't full blown drunk but he was what the humans called tipsy.
"I.. don't know how to count the score either." He glanced at the dart board. There were numbers etched into the wood. And he assumed the player was to count those points. He wasn't sure if it was the one with the higher or lower points won.
"My.. My Ab.. my father.. would just tell me try to hit the center.. don't throw the darts in.. anyone's eyes.. or ass." He stood aside and waited for Gar to finish his turn. Once, Gar was fully away from the dartboard. He tried his hand at the throw. Aeos attempt was not well. All three of his darts hit the outermost rim of the dart board.
"Your's was better than mine." He spoke with a bit of a silly grin on his face. He took another drink and waited for Gar's second turn. He took a moment to examine the bar crowd. The dragon was happy to report he knew no one here. Save for Gar's crew. He saw at least two of them somewhere among the slowly blurring crowd. He put his drink down and decided it was probably time to stop.
"No more booze for me." He rubbed his eye in an attempt to bring his vision back into focus. His face was a slight flush of pink and he moved a bit slower than usual.

Gar had to laugh at Aeos and his comments. It was funny that Aeos had picked a game that he didn't know how to score. Also the quick anecdote about Aeos' father was worth a smile.
Gar was drunk. Aeos said he was finished drinking for the night. Gar had to agree. "Aye, we sshould probably be a little resssponsible huh?" They had a departure the next day. The berserker let out a less than subtle belch and laughed again.
"We're gonna have to get some shleep if we want to be any help tomorrow. I'm gonna go sleep on the sship." Gar normally would've slept at an inn, but he wanted to get as much sleep as he could. Gar rose from the table and began to make his way to the exit. He was humming a tune as he did so. ___ The next day
"Damn Cap'n, wake up. It's already midday. Think of the impression." A crewmate extended a hand to help Gar stand. Gar opened his eyes, which he quickly closed again to shield from the light. The berserker's body was slumped against the ships main mast. He slowly gained his bearings. The captain took his mate's arm and slowly got to his feet. The ship was already sailing. Gar was confused and relieved by that fact.
"We're sailing already? When did I give the order?" The crew apparently didn't need an order. They knew what the plan was and they were all adept sailors.
"Aye, we figured we would let you sleep a bit longer. Next stop Bern. Hope you aint scared of wyverns." If this wasn't a time for a captain to be thankful for his crew, then there never was a time.
Gar addressed his crew. "You are some of the best sailors I've met. I am a truly lucky captain. Now if you'll excuse me, I should drink about a barrel of water." Gar laughed meekly and excused himself below deck. I wonder if Aeos is still asleep.

OOC- Thank you. --
The dragon in human form nodded at just about everything Gar said. Though in his current state, Aeos could agree to just about anything and everything. He agreed that the duo should be semi-responsible for their actions and make their way back to the ship. He watched Gar stumble his words a bit and his movements told him that he was pretty drunk. The dragon was pretty inebriated himself. He got up slowly. He could feel that his own movement and his own body was a bit wobbly. The dragon followed Gar out of the bar. He was trying really hard not to appear drunk. He kept his gaze towards the floor and tried to walk normally. Although he sorta looked like he was walking like a toddler. Eventually, the duo made their way back to the docks. Once, he knew he was safe he retreated to his bunk. The dragon guzzled all the water from his canteen and drifted off to an uncomfortable sleep.
He woke up and quickly shuffled out of his bed. Normally, he would have stayed asleep for as long as he could. But, the fluids of last night needed to leave his body. That urge to go, was enough to snap him out of his hung over stupor and make his way towards the waste bucket. After relieving himself he took the bucket up topside and threw the contents overboard. He let out a rather large yawn, unknown to him his mouth had some pointy teeth. His eyes adjusted to the red light of day. He rubbed his eyes with his sleeve and blunk several times. That's when he felt it. The subtle shifts in his senses and sort of quick recovery from the night before. He quickly examined his hands and saw the darkened nails. He touched his face and felt the subtlest trace of scales. Crap! He shook his head and quickly cut off his connection to his dragon stone. He looked around quickly and let out a sigh of relief as he realized he was alone.
"Thank the gods." The changes were small. A human would have to stare at him clearly in order to see the reptilian like features peppered across his face. He was fortunate to have caught it in time. And that his grizzly bed hair, the lack of daylight, and cloak hid more of the obvious features. The dragon returned the bucket to it's place. He used some clean water to wash his hands and face. Cold. He took a deep breath in then out. He wasn't used to being hung over. His attitude shifts when he was hung over. He was usually cranky. And sometimes that crankiness led to accidental displays of power. When he returned to the docks it was to relive the man up on the crows nest of his duty. Just.. keep away from everyone for a few hours.
