"He's still not done?" it had been maybe around 10 minutes since Sigma had stormed out of the house after realising who was Rhia's contractor. His shouts as loud as ever also. Melia had decided to give him some space (also she was kindof scared to go down there with that look Sigma had). However, she pretty simply sat down on the chair in her room where Rhia was in, simply listening to Sigma which could be heard thanks to the small window. For once, Melia was actually scared of someone. She normally would laugh at anybody trying to intimidate her, but this... Sigma almost emanated anger from his being as he walked past her.
"Are you alright Rhia? Do you need anything?" it was a bit obvious Melia was trying to ignore the thief outside venting out what seemed to be anger hot enough to melt steel. Her smile still showed a lot of worry for her newly made friend. Seeing this side of Sigma was extremely surprising to say the least, she only knew his charismatic and savvy side, this was completely unlike him..
[...]
The dummy had lost its head... and its arms... and its legs! At this point, Sigma had even dropped the blade on the grass, prefering to punch and kick the ever living daylights out of the wooden post which used to be the dummy. How dare you come back after what you did? How dare you! I'll butcher you and skin you like a pig if I see you Seymour... You think you can capture me to find out where I hid Juniper? With a well placed kick, he was to uproot the post. Finally breathing, he started to feel pain in his fists as he let himself fall on his back, staring up at the clouds, having finally drained the last of his fury.
I hope you're safe right now Juniper. I don't think I'd ever be able to live with myself if I found out that your father found you...

Though Rhia hadn't seen the full extent of Sigma's rage, she could tell he was angry due to the shouting combined with the furious sword strikes she heard in the back, presumably against the body of some dummy by the sound of it. Melia had come in, checking her stitches to make sure they were alright. She had a worried look on her face as she asked how Rhia was doing. "I-I'm doing alright. I was just a bit scared when Sigma was interrogating me about my employer. Now I'm just kind of concerned. I described the appearance of the man who hired me, and he instantly went into a frenzy when I finished. I think I'm gonna try walking out there and talking to him. Now I'm really curious to know what he knows about this man."
Slowly getting up, Rhia clutched her side just near her lung, wincing at the pain as she got up. Once she was up however, the pain was a bit lighter, and she found herself able to walk, even if a bit labored. Eventually, she made her way downstairs and out into the yard, where she found Sigma breathing heavily, seemingly out of energy after his assault on the dummy, which was cut to shreds and beaten to a pulp now.
Slowly walking over, but not within striking distance, Rhia spoke up softly, "Sigma..? Are you alright? Well, I guess you're clearly not. That was dumb of me to ask... So, um, why does this.. um.. Seymour person make you so angry? Should I be worried for having associated with him? I-I'm sorry if this isn't something you wanna talk about, but I feel I'm just as involved as anyone, to an extent, and I deserve you know at least a portion of what you do. Whatever might matter to me, or what you feel like saying."

Feeling blood on his hands and bruises on his feet now, Sigma didn't really care anymore about the pain. It's almost as if it even made him feel better. He had promised Juniper that never again would she have to go through that again, but now Seymour was back and meant that Sigma had failed on his promise. He deserved to feel pain right now. Holding back tears of anger and sadness, Sigma noticed Rhia walking over to him, asking who this Seymour is. I guess... I guess talking about it might help me. I fear I might go insane due to anger if I keep this bottled up...
"The man who hired you Rhia... Is nothing more than a digusting creature. A man with no principles, living in sin without remorse. I've never met another person just as awful and horrible as Seymour in my entire life nor do I wish to meet one... The things he's done should reward him with nothing less than being burned at the stake before being tortured publicly if you ask me." Getting up, he slowly started walking back into the house, walking past Rhia with an expression of sorroe and hate. I'd be personally happy to be the one to execute him... The sound of blood spurting out of his neck is a sound I've longed for since at least 4 years...
Turning around before reaching the door, he gave a warning to Rhia: "I have to warn you however Rhia, if you truly wish to know more, that what I could tell might make you uneasy, maybe even sick to your stomach. Not only that, but what I'm telling you would be something you'd have to keep to yourself alright? Can you still promise that to me despite the fact you are a mercenary?"
Of course, some people would have given everything he knows straight to Seymour, awaiting some kind of cash price. He simply hoped that Rhia had a conscience strong enough to keep a secret.

What could this Seymour person have possibly done to warrant this much ire from Sigma? Could he have murdered someone? I'm not so sure that alone would do it for him. Hmm, unless maybe it was someone close to him... Murder or not, maybe he just did something bad to someone that Sigma cared about deeply. Maybe family? A lover? He clearly hasn't wanted to ever talk about it, but I guess it's necessary now...
Shifting a bit anxiously, Rhia hesitated on what to say, now unsure whether she actually did want to hear about this, based on how Sigma was leading into it. "Sigma, I've seen my fair share of nasty things in the past. Maybe I can handle this, maybe I can't, but I'd like to assume that I can. Whatever it is, I'm willing to hear it. You may not know me well, but it know all too well what it's like when someone bottles up their emotions for far too long..." At that, Rhia trailed off, her eyes staring into the distance, as if recalling a far-off memory. Coming back to her senses, she continued, "Go ahead, I'm all ears. Spill out whatever you have to say about this man. Your words will be safe with me. Heck, if they're bad enough, which it sounds like they will be, I'll just ignore the contract. I was kinda planning on abandoning it anyway, seeing as you kinda defeated me and all."
Rhia sat down crosslegged in the grass now, awaiting Sigma to start his explanation to her. I hope this doesn't turn into a super emotional moment... I may have gotten a bit emotional myself earlier, but I hardly know a damn thing about helping other people through those times...

"Well... Alright then. I'll trust you and tell what that man did... This means a lot that you'd be willing to listen... Though I certainly hope you know that you're getting yourself into something dark and dangerous. If you want, you can leave after hearing my story, the choice is yours."
Melia had come outside as well, telling Sigma that she also deserved to know."We're partners n crime, Sigma. You tell me this kind of stuff, alright?" laying down, she awaited for him to start talking.
Walking himself back towards the garden, he picked up his sword, making the tip turn on his thumb, just enough to draw a drop of blood. Putting the sword in his belt, he leaned against the wall of the house, staring off at the sky, wondering if he himself was ready for this:
"Well... where to begin? I guess I could talk to you about Juniper. Firstly, she is Mister Seymour's daughter, born into wealth and continuously showered in gifts from her father. However, she is still an incredibly caring person, and one of my best childhood friends. Back in the day, I would hide in her manor for a few days when I couldn't feed myself in town. I got thrown out a few times before Seymour decided to completely block access to the outside for his daughter. Of course, that didn't stop me from sneaking her out some nights to explore Edessa. This friendship went on for a few years, right up until four years ago..." he stopped, feeling uneasy about talking about the last part. Sometimes just thinking about it is bad enough, describing it would be downright awful... Sighing softly, he dropped his head down in defeat, simply remembering that day.
"It was summer, for a few days now, Juniper had missed our meetups. I started becoming worried for her. His father seemed much too protective of his daughter... Much too protective. Having a generally bad vibe, I guess I "knew" that soemthing bad was happening. Sneaking in, I reached the nobleman's chamber... The screams... I-i-i... No, please, I can't do this anymore. Just thinking about her cries of agony ar too much right now..."
Simply standing there, he kept staring at the ground with eyes filled with something quite dangerous: emptiness.

As Sigma weaved his tale, Rhia could do nothing else but watch and listen with intense concentration. How sad.. a girl prevented from stepping outside, just because she was friends with someone like Sigma. And it only gets worse... Wait, did he..? Hurt her..? No, no... Rhia's eyes widened a bit as she gathered what Sigma was implying by the end of his recollection. Oohhh.. oh gods, that poor girl... And to think, this father of hers is my employer... I... I feel so disgusted now... If only I'd known... No, he would've just sent someone else. With Sigma and I both here, maybe, just maybe, we can set something right...
Speaking up one she was sure Sigma had finished, Rhia said, "Sigma, that's awful... I.. I didn't know my employer had done such things. I'm disgusted now... He shouldn't be allowed to ever do anything like that ever again, and I think with me here, once I recover, I just may have an idea, of you don't mind me sharing." Clearing her throat, and coughing a bit from the mild strain on her lung, she began to explain her plan. "As far as Seymour is aware, I haven't failed. He's likely still expecting you to be returned to him in a matter of days, maybe a week or so at most. What if I were to still deliver you to him under the guise of success, but once we're there with him, he's all yours, and I can provide any backup necessary. Maybe I sound a bit hasty, I know, but I want to bring this terrible dastard to justice!" Rhia was clearly getting very worked up now, obviously empassioned at the idea of ending Seymour's disgusting life.

After telling that story, Sigma was still stuck in some kind of stupor. All he could think about was that dreadful night, despite the fact he only wished to have it erased from his memories... Flashback Music "Father no! S-stop this at once! KYAAAAAH!"
I remember it all too well... I kicked the door open, dagger drawn while shaking like a mere child. I had only turned 18 at the time I guess... The scene before me lighted in a fire, a fire of hate, sadness and disgust. All of those things combined became tears trinkling down my face as I pointed my dagger, shouting at Seymour to stop right now.
"YOU!?!? That good for nothing thief who dared to taint my daughter with his dirty hands?!?" Juniper could only stare deep into my eyes, fear filling her own as her father kept on talking, walking towards me. "Her skin was tainted by your lips. You deserve nothing less but death. Now I must try to salvage her, hoping to god she does not falter from her true destiny any further!" Gritting my teeth, I could see nothing but rage, nothing but a wish to kill this monster. Sadly, I'd be much too easy to blame for his murder, other nobles would try to pin it on me and ruin my life or even worse, make Juniper's life a living hell. Running away now my only option, I punched Seymour hard enough to send him to the ground, just long enough for me to run in and grab Juniper in my arms and run out. Her body was not responsive, almost as if she was comatosed in a strange way...
As hard as I tried for the following days during our escape, although she would slowly start talking to me again, she never was able to overcome that trauma and look at me as her lover once more. All I could do now was to bring her to safety, making sure she never has to live these horrors ever again...Hearing Rhia's words, Sigma shaked his head, coming out of his inner thoughts. Seems like the woman had a sense of righteousness, wanting to take down that man without really having any connections to him. Maybe I was wrong about her. Sighing, Sigma started talking, his voice showing how scared he was right now: S-sadly, he's probably got way too many mercenaries for us to attack him head on. He probably also expects this outcome, this isn't the first time I've defeated his goons. He was probably planning to kill you too, all things considered. N-no... Right now, the only I want to do is to make sure Juniper is okay. He's probably sent out investigators to try and find her whereabouts in case I'm not captured. I did hide her well, but that man's obsession could probably destroy even a stone wall with enough time."As blood dripped off of his now red fists, he brought both hands to his forehead, feeling overwhelmed by the situation, letting himself slide down the wall until he was sitting. No tears were flowing from his eyes despite the sorrow he felt. Maybe it was so great that he couldn't even muster tears to come. Junie...

Rhia almost regretted bringing this up with Sigma at all. Recollection these events was clearly extremely traumatic for him, and she just simply sat there as he stared off. She could only guess what he was thinking in his own mind, but luckily he eventually talked again. Her face grew from sympathetic and sad, to more just disappointed as he explained why a direct attack on Seymour just wouldn't work right now, if at all. "Sigh, I guess you're right, but I absolutely hate that you are. I wish we were just able to find and attack him right now, and be done with this dastard. But I understand why that isn't feasible. Figures that the coward would he hiding behind even more mercenaries."
Moving the subject to this Juniper person, Rhia said, "So, where exactly is Juniper holed up? I'm sure she's problem fine right now, especially if Seymour was wanting you alive. He was probably going to interrogate you to find out, now that I know more about you and him. Although, I have to ask.. Once we find her, what exactly are you planning we do? Take her away with us? I don't know if that's more or less safe than keeping her wherever she's sitting around right now."
I just hope Sigma knows what he's doing with this, cause I sure don't. Hopefully I didn't go even more in over my head by offering to help with his... friend? Girlfriend? I'm not sure whether this was a simple friendship or something more. I'm inclined to think the latter given just how worked up he is about this. Of course, Seymour still committed a horrible act regardless.

Flashback
I was sitting next to the fire. It had been almost a day since I had rescued Junie. I specifically remember how cold it was that night. Almost as if Seymour's anger was changing the environment to stop us. Seeing Juniper shiver by herself, still shaken by the entire ordeal, I went in my bag to grab a thick wool blanket, well more so just a long piece of fabric with how little craftsmanship had gone into making it. Going over to put the blanket over her shoulders, I tried to comfort her the best I could by sitting next to her, hoping to help her calm down. However, the moment I laid my hand on her, I felt her tense up, moving a few feet away, looking at me, eyes filled with both fear and embarassement. She'd also only talk to me with very short sentences, almost as if I was a stranger...
Once again, Sigma was taken out of his thoughts, for the last time he hoped. I'm gonna become completely depressed if I keep bringing back those memories... Rhia was asking him what he was planning to do. Slowly getting up, he thought about for a few seconds, not actually being able to give her a good answer. "Look, I'll admit, I have no idea what to do right now. I guess I can tell you now since you've already heard the big things and you seem trustworthy. I think I'm just overwhelmed. We still have a day or two before you recover. That'll give us time to come up with a plan and also for you to make sure you really wanna be apart of this. This isn't a normal contract. I can pay you if you want, but if we can't take down Seymour, he could very well try and bring down your reputation as a mercenary."
Taking a deep breath, he started to feel a bit more stable than earlier. Grabbing his sword tightly, he realised he had screwed up the blade's edge. I'll have to fix that soon. Looking at Rhia, he asked: "Alright, I guess for now we should go back inside, it's about time to eat anyways. You seem to be walking around fine, care to join us at the table or would prefer going back in the bed?"

Sigma had a point. If they failed to take down Seymour, he could possibly make Rhia's own life a living hell. Maybe not as bad as what she expected Sigma's punishment would be, but still bad enough. Her entire adult life was more or less built on mercenary work, and in that line of work, reputation was half the battle. The rest was, well, the actual battle. A look of conflicted feeling showed on Rhia's face. "Yeah, I guess I'm gonna have to think long and hard about this. I wish I was so virtuous that I didn't care about my own reputation as a hired soldier, but you make a good point Sigma. I just wish that I wasn't faced with such an ultimatum."
Rhia's mind changed from melancholy to moderately excited fairly quickly at Sigma's mention of food. Feeling and hearing her stomach growl like a starving wyvern emphasized how hungry she was. "Yeah, sure, I'll join you for a meal. I feel like I could eat a whole deer! I suppose that's what happens when you're forced to lay in bed for hours on end after being knocked out by a man who throws bread at people as a method of defense." Rhia was clearly emphasizing that last part, throwing at bit of playful salt into the conversation to try and brighten the mood a bit, especially for Sigma. "I'm only joking, Sigma! So, uh, what's there to eat? Do you two normally prepare stuff, or just eat whatever happens to be in the house at the time?"

Sigma smiled a bit at Rhia's mention of the bread throwing. Yeah, I guess I should try to lighten up for now at least. There's no way they can find her so quickly... We still have a bit of downtime to unwind and prepare for whatever will come... Also now that I realise it, I am ridiculously hungry after that
Walking inside, he felt a bit more comfortable around Rhia. For now, she definitely seemed like a nice person when you look past the whole "trying to capture Sigma" bit. Getting to know her a bit more would be nice. Sigma had beem meeting a lot of new people ever since he had left Ilia, why not add another one to that list? Putting his sword back in its sheath for now, he looked at Rhia to answer her:"Oh yes, we do make our own food. Things would get rather drab if we just ate bland things every day. THe beef stew should be ready right about now actually..."
However, someone seemed to knock at the door. Melia was the first to answer. She seemed to be speaking in hushed whispers, probably for a job of some kind. Looking at the both of them, she sighed: "Sorry you two, work is calling. Sigma, I expect you to make sure her stitches don't break, you got it?" Nodding with a little smirk, she quickly left the house letting Sigma alone with Rhia.
"Welp, guess we might as well start without her... Oh! Please take a seat, I'll go grab you your food." Going over to the pot that had been slowing cooking over the fire, Sigma opened the lid to release the delicious aroma of slowly stewed beef, so tender it melts in your mouth. He could also smell the mushrooms and sauce mixed in to give the whole thing more complex flavors. Happy with it, he filled two bowls, coming back to sit at the table and giving Rhia her meal.
"So... You seem to already know a bit about me. Guess I should try to even things out, no? So where exactly do you come from?"

Hmm, I wonder where Melia is off to. Oh well, probably something that's none of my business, or maybe something illegal. More than likely, it's both, if I had to guess. Rhia walked towards the table, slowly lowering herself onto a chair, being careful not to cause her stitches to become undone. Once Sigma brought the beef stew to her, she immediately began eating, as her appetite was insatiable by now. This stew is so goood! I'll have to have more after this.
Once Sigma asked to know more about her, specifically where she's from, Rhia shifted a bit in her seat, unsure of what all to tell him. While she didn't want to divulge super personal things yet, she figured it wouldn't do any harm in just saying where she's from or by what kind of people she was raised. "Well, I'm from Bern, the city and the nation. I guess you could say I was raised by fairly well-off parents. We weren't generally considered nobles by any means, but I definitely had it better than a lot of the other Bernese children while I was growing up, and that's why it was such a shock to my parents when I told them I wanted to go into mercenary work. They figured I would end up married off to another decent family, maybe start some nice business in the city, stuff like that. Nope. Their little girl wanted to fight for a living. Granted, I knew nothing of combat, even into my earlier teens, so as soon as they allowed me, I joined a local mercenary group that specialized in mounted combat. That's how I got to knowing everything I know now."
Becoming a more cold and distant now, Rhia stared off to the side, making sure not to make eye contact with Sigma. "N-now, if you don't mind, I'd prefer to leave it there. That's already more than I usually say to people I hardly know."

Sigma was surprised to hear that Rhia had turned down an opportunity for a good life and instead went for the mercenary lifestyle. Most of the time from what I saw, the mercenary life chooses you, not the other way around... Huh, interesting. Sadly, she didn't feel like divulging a lot about her, only the bare minimum of her life story.
"Hardly know? I thought I was the Dashing Bread Thrower, Sigma Wolfhart! Shouldn't you knowing my secret identity count as you knowing who I am?" he chuckled after saying those word, no way in hell he could keep a straight face not that it was his goal. He did however, prefer to keep the conversation lighthearted, as to not try and bring back the fury and despair that kept lingering in the back of his mind right now. Sigma wasn't the type of person who liked to mope about his issues, considering that in his life, most of it would've been spent whining instead of getting things done. Sigma wasn't really the type to bed for attention by acting all sad all the time. "Though I am surprised... Rarely do I see somebody choosing to be a mercenary when they could possibly be doing something much more lucrative and safer."
Letting the statement linger as he continued to slowly eat his stew, Sigma kept a small smile, waiting to ask his question. He loved doing little pauses like this. Knowing how to phrase and time your phrases is an important component for an information broker. It makes interrogations and deceptions much easier to pull off. But really, he was just curious to see if Rhia was simply cold or actually shy. Maybe putting her on edge a bit could help show her personnality a bit more...
"Was it the excitement? Did you dislike living normally? You definitely don't strike as the bloodlusty kind of mercenary like Melia... Hmm, you're an enigma all right..."

Rhia was somewhat amused by Sigma's surprise in her choice of occupation. "Well, yes actually. The excitement it provided was incredible, especially back when I started. My normal life was just too... boring. It seemed every day was the same stuff, rarely accentuated with the occasional boy flirting with me. I'd usually entertain them with the possibility of gaining my favor, but it almost never happened." Trailing off a bit at that, Rhia continued, quick to change the topic, "So, um, yeah. I guess the thrill of battle is just sorta something you can't replicate with the lucrative, safe work that you mentioned. I must say, the rush of adrenaline is incredible, almost addictive even. Of course, as you properly assumed, I'm not bloodthirsty in the slightest. I just happen to have a sort of pride in what I do. In fact, had I been born a bit higher up in the social ladder, I like to think maybe I could've been a proper knight."
Remembering a part of Sigma's words now, Rhia said, "You mentioned Melia just then too. Bloodthirsty? I can't even imagine. She seems so.. gentle and caring. I don't generally think of the person stitching up my wounds as being a bloodthirsty killer, you know? Care to explain?" Rhia wouldn't admit it, but now she was a tad bit worried about when Melia would return, knowing now that she was some kind of killer. An assassin maybe? Who knew. Maybe Sigma would be able to ease her anxiety on the matter. Either that, or make it far worse.

The image of Rhia teasing boys to pass the time was certainly an entertaining thought... She didn't strike me as a femme fatale what with that black horse and armor. Guess it must be pretty good at intimidating her targets. As she kept explaining her love for battle and the excitement that she gains from it, Sigma realised that he also did it for similar reasons. I may have started out of necessity, but it's true that I'm always excited to find new information on my targets or maybe even finding old research notes I've been ordered to retrieve... I'd probably hate it if I had to do something else to sustain myself. Hmmm...
She then asked about Melia, looking a bit confused about how Sigma had described her. He audibly laughed, banging his fist on the table a bit. "Well alriiiight. I guess bloodthirsty is a bit of an overstatement... I think it's safer to say that she is very passionate about her work, which yes, is assassination, torture and all of the really fuuuun stuff." he said that last with an exagerated amount of sarcasm. Smiling more softly now, he sighed a bit before going into more details: "But don't worry, she's not a bad person. Heck, she tried to kill me but now we're friends! That's gotta mean something about her, no? I guess she's simply very good at separating work and free time." Wondering if that was going to make her a bit scared of Melia, Sigma wasn't really sure. However he didn't really care all that much, in a way he also didn't fully trust her yet, so for Rhia to also be a bit unsure about her was fair.
Realising something, Sigma audibly gasped, looking at Rhia. "I almost forgot! You probably want to see your horse no? When you'll be done with that, I can show you the way to where he is. I wouldn't want you to doubt that I really healed him now..."
