|Music|It was a lazy day in Lucerne. A beautiful, cloudless day, sun gently embracing everything below. A perfectly peaceful day, except for one disgruntled archer. An entire morning had been wasted on training that seemed to serve no purpose. Selunae had, to no avail, made countless passes along the edge of the forest mounted on Starchaser with her bow. She’d strafe the treeline until she expended her arrows and then collect them only to repeat the process over again. All she intended to do was to hit a tree as she passed, and it just wasn’t working out. She still couldn’t maintain her balance to fire and she’d been frustrated into tears after so many failures. Really, the whole morning and she hadn’t landed a single shot on its intended target. Flint had told her stories of Sacaean mounted archers from time to time and boasted of their near-fabled accuracy. If they could do it, she could do it. Except, she couldn’t. Not even once. How could she show ol’ Roddy Jacks how much she’d improved when she returned if her skill hadn’t shown any increase whatsoever? Gods, this was so frustrating! The huntress needed to blow off some steam. While normally she’d take a stroll through the forest, at this point she didn’t care if she ever saw a tree again. Besides, her trip through the city proper with Kyra had left her intrigued and maybe there would be a few discoveries she could make on her own. Kyra had left Lucerne recently for some sort of personal business in the capital, but Selunae had stayed behind to train at home. Some training, hmph. The huntress sighed in disgust as she spurred the white horse into a gallop with her heels. “C’mon girl, ya worked hard today. Too bad yer rider can’t hit the broad side of a barn.”It was late afternoon before the huntress found herself strolling through the heart of Lucerne, cautiously confining herself to the immediate area of the marketplace for now. Erected market stalls lined the cobbled roads and bustling crowds strolled hither and thither to peruse the various wares the jovial traders were hawking. It wasn’t an unfamiliar sight to the young archer, though she hadn’t wandered the marketplace unsupervised before. No mother lurking in the shadows to step in when a purchase was deemed frivolous or unnecessary. Granted, she had but a humble reserve of currency. Her share of what was earned from slaying the wolf didn’t really leave her with much wealth to throw around here. Looking was free though, and there was no shortage of free smiles as she made her way from one stall to the next. Selunae found herself lingering on one stall in particular, marveling at a collection of glass bottles. She had no real use for them, empty as they were. They were pretty and shiny though, and those were embarrassingly distracting traits for the huntress. They’d simply end up broken if she took them along on an adventure, or collect dust in her room if she left them behind. They might make a nice gift for her mother though. Yes, that was the perfect excuse to buy one! “Umm, how much for this one?” The huntress gestured toward a brilliant blue crystalline decanter, to immediate delight from the vendor. “Ahh! Dat eez mazterpeez of gret glaz werka Eeztafan. Ah mek mazterpeez in furnez aht hum, yez? Yu likez, yez?” The aged vendor had a well-tanned complexion and a thick mustache and his face was lined with deep creases and wrinkles from the many years under his belt. His dialect left a blank expression on the young archer’s face though and it was only after she sounded out several of his words in her head that those emerald eyes finally lit up in understanding. “Yes! It’s beautiful..” Selunae giggled over her success of deciphering the man’s words all by herself. “Ahh, fur yu ah geev spezh’ll deezcont.” The man took payment from the excited huntress and in turn the girl joyfully held the decanter to the sky in triumph – and awkwardly glanced around, hoping no one was staring at her. Yep, never doing that again. Her purchase safely in her grasp, the red-haired huntress spun on her toes and took a long stride forward – right into a young man she hadn’t noticed crossing paths with her. She instantly lost her grip on the fragile glasswork, fumbling frantically as she tried to prevent it from shattering on the stone floor of the pavilion. Finally, after juggling it clumsily from one hand to the other, she was able to find purchase just before it would’ve escaped her reach. The decanter once again safely in her clutches, she looked up to the young man to haughtily reprimand him for ‘not watching where he was going’. However, though the appropriate expression briefly darkened her face, it was replaced first with confusion and then surprise as she recognized him. Her curt scolding never escaped her lips, the huntress immediately forgetting that she had even been upset. It was the first time she’d seen Alphonz not suited up in his armor or at the very least his under-armor apparel. A big smile quickly spread across her face and her eyes brightened. “Alphonz! It’s so good to see ya again! What uhh brings ya out to the market today?”

Ugh, that freaking bandit really did a number on me... walking through the marketplace as his armor was still in the forge being repaired, Alphonz was quietly walking around, his wound having finally healed for the most part. It was good to actually have enough blood in his veins to not feel nauseous. He did feel a bit strange without his armor. Not only that, but his father might be worrying right now since he had to take a few extra days until his wounds closed up. I sure do hope he doesn't send the cavalry searching for me. Sadly, this wouldn't be the first time...
Forgetting all of that for now, he continued looking at a few stalls, feeling a bit out of his element. Huh, this is probably one of the few times I'm not in a military camp or back in the barracks... Guess I never realised the lack of experience I have with "civilian" lifestyle... Maybe my father sent me here for this also... He probably fears I can't be a good leader if I know nothing of the world outside of war and the military. Now that I think about it, Kyra and Lunie are some of the only friends I've made... Is that what we are, friends? Ugh, I'm embarassed I can't even gauge that much... It'd be nice if everything was similar the military lifestyle. Train, fight, celebrate with brothers-in-arms. Well, they still don't let me drink but I guess that it still counts... Also it doesn't help that I've never really talked to girls much... as he started thinking about it, images of when Lunie gave Alphonz a small kiss on his cheek made him blush deeply. What did it mean? Am I supposed to feel happy? Did that have any meaning? Ugh, why am I so clueless at this... I learned how to find my way through a forest and survive with nothing but with my own hands, but I don't know a damn thing about girls.
Being deeply in thoughts, he didn't notice somebody walking right towards him. The person was much smaller than him in both height and size so he personally didn't really get moved as much as her. Seeing a blue bottle almost crash on the ground, he tried to reach out for it but the girl had caught it just in time. Looking down, he realised that the person in question was actually the one he was just thinking about! Trying to not blush as she greeted him, he said: "L-Lunie? Uh, it's good to see you too! I'm sorry about that, guess I wasn't paying attention.
Looking at her, he stopped talking for a few seconds before realising that he probably looked pretty creepy. "Oh! Uh, I'm just wasting time while they get my armot fixed up. That bandit really banged it, you know?"

As the young archer tucked her glass purchase into her bag, a balmy breeze whistled through the nearby stalls. She was careful, testing the arrangement of its contents to ensure her gift wouldn’t be crushed the moment she slung the bag back over her shoulder. There had been an incident with apples once, and the stale odor still lingered. The huntress didn’t neglect the young knight with inattention though, exchanging idle glances as he spoke in response to her question. Any business she might have had in the marketplace was concluded, so as she continued the conversation she began strolling in the direction Alphonz had previously been walking so as to not hold him up. She didn’t have anything better to do for the moment but to tag along and keep him company.
“Oh, uh yeah.. I bet somethin’ like that’ve split me in two. Yer a pretty tough guy!” The huntress paused awkwardly, wondering if she just called Alphonz pretty. Nervous thoughts wracked her brain as she came up with a followup remark to take the emphasis off the word. “You look a bit uh normal without all that shiny armor.” Normal? That wasn’t really an improvement, was it? An awkward, quiet chuckle squeaked its way from the archer’s throat. She wasn’t accustomed to talking to people around her own age, as everyone she grew up with was either far younger than her or treated her like a kid. Small talk didn’t seem to be working out so well for her, today. She could feel her cheeks turning pink already, so to keep the spearman from noticing she took a few longer strides to pace herself in front of him a short distance.
Selunae gripped her hands together behind her back as she walked, causing her chest to puff out a little. Not even that could disguise that her lithe frame had little in the way of feminine endowment. It was something she was used to, even though her mother had a rather buxom figure. Gods, why was she thinking about her figure? Why was she thinking about her mother’s figure? Ugh! She really hoped Alphonz wasn’t a mind reader.

I-I'm tough? He had never really been complimented like that by a girl before. Sure, the guys who would train with him would sometimes compliment his physical prowess, but this somehow felt different. However, that feeling got shifted as she called Alphonz "normal". Looking at his undershirt and pants, he looked back at Lunie, not really sure how to respond to her comment: "Well uh... I'm sorry? I-I don't really have anything shiny besides it so I guess I must look "normal" right now..."
Seeing walk forward a bit, Alphonz started to ask himself if he had done something wrong. Was I... Was I supposed to dress fancy? No hold on, I met her by accident right now! So why's she saying I look normal? Is my face just plain and hard to differenciate? Did she mean I look normal like a civilian would? Or was it supposed to mean I'm not much without the armor on? Ugh, why must I ask myself these relentless questions!?!? Trying to catch up with her, he tried to think of a way to get a conversation going. Knight stuff? Nah... OH! MILITARY TACTI- goddamnit I suck at this. Ok Alphonz, just ask something about her, might as well start to know her more, you did try to bring her back while severly injured. Looking at her for a few seconds, he once again realised he was staring and quckly looked for something else to observe. He then noticed the satchell where she had stored the decanter, Alphonz decided he might as well start with that and ask:
"So? What's this crytal bottle for? I mean, you really seemed to not want it to break. Umm... Is it a gift for someone? Is it for Kyra perhaps?"
Hmm, is Kyra actually here with her? Hmm, doesn't look like it. I'm at least hoping she's not too sad because of Devon still.

Oh gods, what had she done? ‘Hi, you look normal.’ Ugh! Oh please, gods, Alphonz change the subject. The huntress mentally pleaded for anything to come out of the young recruit’s mouth. Well, anything besides this awkward apology for what had clearly been perceived as her complaining. Well, that settled the matter of mind reading. Selunae could safely say that the spearman couldn’t read her mind at all. The weird tension was becoming unbearable as both of the teens tried in their own way to come up with something to say. Just as Alphonz decided on a subject and began to speak, she began to blurt out her own attempt to reconcile the awkwardness simultaneously.
“Normal in a-” the huntress exclaimed briefly but just as quickly cut herself off, letting the knight speak first. Her pace slowed enough for him to close the gap, but she still remained a step in front him. As he finished his question, she trailed off with the rest of what she was saying in what came out more as mumbling than coherent speech. Normal in a good way. Did that even make sense? “Oh, the bottle? N-no, it’s not for Kyra.. I.. w-well.. I kiiinda got into a li’l argument with my mama so I thought I’d get her something pretty to make up for it.”
Selunae sighed to herself. She wasn’t even sure if her mother would want something like this, but it certainly was pretty. In all honesty it was a bit on the gaudy side, though that meant little to the archer. Or rather, it added to the appeal in her eyes. Tasteful wasn’t something she had the best judgment of, but her mother was usually fairly accepting of the girl’s choice of gifts. Simply being able to afford it was testament to its lack of real value, though that detail oft escaped the archer’s reasoning.
“I didn’t uhh.. mean to umm.. make everything weird, it’s jus’.. I never had a boyfriend my age – I mean boy that is a friend..! Friend that is a boy!” As if she’d been struck by lightning, the huntress stiffened where she stood. Her face became flush and turned all sorts of deepening shades of red as she struggled to find a way out of whatever nightmare this had just turned into. “IthinkmymamaiscallingmeIgottago!” It was probably the most preposterous lie she could have made up, but she didn’t wait to see if Alphonz bought it. That slender body of hers afforded her quite a nimble running speed and when she scrambled away desperately like this, she was a sight to behold. (Un)fortunately she hadn’t gone far, disappearing into the first alleyway she encountered. She hadn’t even left Alphonz’s sight first. As flustered as she was, she didn’t even check to see if she lost him. No, she’d just ran to the first hiding place she’d encountered and plopped down against the wall of the alley. Hiding place wasn’t even the word for it. If Alphonz walked by the alley, he’d see her plain as day.
So much for making things less awkward. Why did she have to specify his gender anyway? It was plain to anyone that he wasn’t a girl. Gods, why was she even trying to rationalize this? Placing the leather pack in her lap, she used it to bury her face, to hide from the world. How long would it take to simply die from the embarrassment? The reality that she hadn’t run far enough to actually get away was painfully evident as she heard his approach, but wait, was someone else here too? Alarmed, the huntress glanced further down the alley and rose swiftly back to her feet. Before she even completely erected herself, a shadowy figure collided with her and nearly knocked her to the filthy stone path she stood on. Just a flash of blue hair and the person was gone. “Hey! Watch out!”
What a rude person! The suddenness of the collision made the archer drop her pack. Wait a second, it was gone! From the alley Alphonz had doubtlessly witnessed the huntress duck into, a young thief emerged with Selunae’s bag. Briefly, the red-haired girl came back into view as well, visibly distressed. “Th-thief!” Staring Alphonz right in the eyes as if the awkward slip-up had never occurred, she accosted him with the logical question, at least from her end. “Which way did they go?”

A present for her mother huh? It would've been awful if Alphonz had broken it then, he thought. Thinking about it, it had been ages since he had had an argument with his own mother, due to the fact that he rarely saw her except for a few days at a time due to the many training missions he underwent with his father. He wondered if he should try to get a gift too before leaving... Maybe a nice necklace or maybe even just a simple scarf or accessory. However, he didn't have much time to think about it before Lunie probably had the biggest slip of the tongue in her life, although, Alphonz himself didn't know that, becoming extremely red also, probably at the same level as Lunie.
B-boyfriend!?! Is that how it works? Wait a second, no. She's embarassed. Is she like that because she messed up or she was embarassed to say it? UGH, WHY DO I SUCK SO BAD AT TALKING WITH GIRLS! Now we're both even more embarassed than earlier... Not really surprised, she started running away after giving a phony excuse. However it's not like Alphonz was going to try and counter argue, a bit glad that embarassing conversation was over. Feeling way too many things at once, notbeing able to really discern how he actually felt, he simply looked at where Lunie had hidden, not sure if it was a good idea or not to try and go talk to her. Ugh, why did she have to kiss me, now I'M just a big mess in general...
However, he didn't take about that stuff for too long, seeing a young man with blue hair dash out of the alleyway, holding a satchel and heading deeper into the marketplace. He quickly realised what had happened when Lunie came out visibly different than earlier. Asking where he went, Alphonz stopped thinking about all of that embarassing rabble now that something he was actually good at came up. "He went towards those stalls, come on!"
Running towards the thief, Alphonz could feel rage swell in his belly. Was it the fact he was a criminal or that he had stolen from a friend? Honestly, he couldn't tell right now. He did however have his glaive attached to his back, even if the armor was being repaired. I"m supposed to become a knight, I'm not gonna walk around unarmed during a mission... Well a failed mission is still a mission. Moving on!
"He isn't that far ahead of us, go faster!"

“All my stuff is in that bag!” With only the slightest pause to confirm the direction Alphonz had offered – indeed a fleeing blue haired individual in an old, ratty cloak was fleeing between a set of market stalls – Selunae sprang forward into action. The thief was quick, very quick, although surprisingly short. It wasn’t hard to tell, if nothing else, that the bag snatcher was definitely shorter than Alphonz but maybe even shorter than her as well. The marketplace regulars just seemed oblivious, going about their business as if nothing had happened. That, in this case, meant getting the way of the two as they made the attempt to catch up to the thief. Selunae was determined to not be slowed, forcing her way crudely past the other market-goers. It was perhaps a blessing for them that the huntress was not of stockier build, though this detail did little to assist her own passing. Uttering halfhearted apologies as she went, she drew a variety of glares and looks of shock and disgust from the men and women she transgressed. The thief was getting further away, already out of sight in another alley further ahead. Selunae hadn’t seen where the young man went and sprinted right past the alley to the end of the building.
Glancing back and forth, there was no sign of the thief. An immediate sense of loss and emptiness gnawed at the young archer. What little money she had, her supplies, even the gift she’d bought for her mother.. suddenly gone. The emptiness was replaced with a strange sense of nausea.. and helplessness. Why would a thief choose her to rob, anyway? She had little enough of her own as it was. Turning to Alphonz – wait, where was he? He wasn’t with her anymore. Perhaps he’d seen where the rascal had fled to and succeeded where she’d failed. Before she could follow up on that thought, there came the blue-haired suspect around the other end of the building toward her. At least until he saw her. The filthy, diminutive bag snatcher chose a new direction instead of fleeing back the way he came. Seconds later, Alphonz came running around the corner behind him. The chase was back on for the huntress. Clearly the young knight was the more skilled hunter of persons between the two of them. She’d already given up hope before the silver recruit had flushed the thief back into the streets.
Though her resolve had already been shaken she fell back into the pursuit with renewed vigor, more confident in Alphonz than herself for reasons made apparent. “Umm.. about earlier.. I-I d-didn’t mean to say things so weird..” Due to the running, Selunae’s voice was raised almost to the level of shouting, but still held a meek shyness in spite of it.

"Come back here, you snivelling little knave!" going on ahead of Lunie who seemed to be getting farther and farther away from him, Alphonz kept matching the boy's pace (well definitely not a man's... That boy is probably shorter than Lunie all things considered.) For him, this wasn't very difficult as he normally trained while wearing his heavy armor. Having to run like this was nothing compared to when you're wearing plate armor, that's for damn sure...
Seeing him dash off into an alleyway, Alphonz picked up the pace, hoping to bring him back in the open so he wouldn't hide. Having to quickly and safely maneuver in the small alleys as to not end up with bruised shoulders and arms, he did lose a bit of ground on his quarry, considering he apparently sucked a lot more at navigating through a city than him. Ugh, when I catch you... Ohhh boy...
W-wait a second, I'm not doing this because he stole Lunie's bag specifically... right? Ugh, out of my head, stupid thoughts! pushing himself further, he jumpd over pots and crates, determined to grab the thief. Apparently Alphonz must've looked quite intimidating because the blue haired criminal seemed to try and pick up the pace after looking behind him. After a few seconds of running, the two of them were back on the main street. He quickly noticed Lunie had finally caught up to him. Still concentrated on following the thief, he didn't really pay much attention to what Lunie was saying as it didn't really sound like it pertained to the chase. Maybe he also felt that staying focused on the thief would make him act less flustered than earlier and this was all just a defense mechanism. "Huh? Sorry, I didn't catch tha- Oh crap! Come on! We're gonna lose him!"
Seeing the short thief turning right, Alphonz quickly followed determined not to lose him...Ugh, I need to corner him, fast.

Ugh, so much for trying to use the distraction as an opportunity to extricate herself from the awkwardness she had blundered into with her odd choice of phrasing. It seemed Alphonz was too caught up in chasing the thief for her to smooth the situation out. A silent grunt of dismay mixed into her breathing as she resigned to the chase, dropping the subject and hoping it didn’t propagate itself once this thief problem was resolved. Speaking of resolving the thief problem, if they split up again as before perhaps they could corner the thief. It seemed she had let the perfect opportunity slip away just before, but if she was ready next time.. Yes, it would definitely work!
“I got an idea! I’ll try to cut ‘im off if ya keep ‘im distracted!” It was more a declaration of intent than a collaboration effort, this plan the young archer concocted. She didn’t know where the thief would go, or if splitting up would even help at all. Alphonz was faring better than she was, though, so it certainly couldn’t hurt unless he actually interrupted his pursuit of the bag-snatcher to seek her out. It seemed like a hopeless case at first. Though the huntress was indeed able to somewhat keep up with the recruit and their blue-haired target, she didn’t seem to be gaining enough ground to get ahead of them. That would change though as the thief cut through an alleyway that turned a corner toward the young archer. Had she been paying less attention, she wouldn’t have even noticed Alphonz chasing him her way. With a burst of zealous excitement, Selunae was able to stop herself to block the exit, leaving the thief trapped like a rat between the two.
Gasping for breath, the young archer cautiously pressed forward as Alphonz did the same from the corner where the path had betrayed the thief’s escape. For the first time, Selunae found herself face to face with the one that pilfered her belongings. To her surprise, the frightened eyes she glared angrily into were those of a young girl. Well, what mattered was catching her and retrieving the bag, not the age or gender of the thief. While, in retrospect, she probably should have simply let Alphonz close in to grab the blue-haired girl, Selunae’s impulsive nature got in the way as it oft did. Throwing caution to the wind, the huntress charged recklessly at the female thief and flung herself forward to grab on to her before she could slip by. However, the filthy criminal juked suddenly, leading to the result of the archer falling into a clumsy embrace with Alphonz while the thief was once more unimpeded.
Selunae sheepishly raised her chin to look into the recruit’s eyes as he caught her, well actually, she had grabbed him as well in an attempt to not lose her balance. She was breathless and blushed shyly, from either embarrassment of her failed attempt or from the realization that this would have been a romantic moment under any other circumstances. Either way, she was a little too swept up in the moment and lingered in his arms longer than she should have.
“I..umm..uhh..” A nervous half-chuckle choked its way from Selunae’s throat as she tried to escape to some form of normalcy before the thief made too much ground. Finally, she just cleared her throat and made the obvious suggestion. “This way!”

"Alright, get ready to catch him when he comes back around." Quickly following the thief into the alleyway, he was getting pretty annoyed with his quarry delaying the inevitable. As both of them were able to close off the exits for the... woman? Uh, I was sure she was a boy... Hmph, still going to have to deliver to the authorities anyways. Slowly moving forward, hoping to not have to get violent, he started to talk to the young woman. "Alright it's over, just hand over the bag and things'll be much easier for you in the long r- LUNIE WAIT!"
Seeing the redhaed dash to try and grab the thief, Alphonz knew that it would end badly. Not surprisingly, the much more agile of the two was able to avoid her grapple and run off, once again. However, that wasn't all! Lunie didn't calculate her lunge well enough, apparently, as Alphonz instinctively reached out to grab her. Realising they were pretty much hugging each other, Alphonz's face turned a light shade of red, not sure what to do as he looked back at Lunie. After a few seconds of complete confusion, embarassement and unknown feelings, Lunie finally sadi something which was able to break Alphonz out of his train of thoughts... Well moreso alarm bells ringing inside of his head than actual thoughts. Letting go, he tried to forget that whole situation. "Y-yes! Alright! L-let's go before she gets away! Running off quickly, he sighed deeply, seriousl not understanding what was making him act this way. "Girls 101" would've be a pretty good class to have instead of Bernese table etiquette, now that I think about it...
Leaving the alleyway, he could still see the thief dashing through the street. Time to finish this. For a split second, Alphonz readied himself before going a mad dash, determined to catch her. Let's see who has the best stamina now! I doubt you'll be able to compete with a knight of the Silver Vanguard, you tricksy purse-snatcher!

The traffic in the streets was light in the area, with most of the people walking the main streets with the stalls. The thief chase was a couple streets back from where the crowds were gathering for browsing and it seemed to maintain, somewhat, this distance. It made it easy for Selunae to spot the girl as her egress from the alleyway came moments behind. The young rogue had fled back in the direction Selunae had entered the alley from, leading the archer to double back, herself. She had been reckless and acted without thinking, otherwise this would have been over by now. Everything had felt so weird and fluttery for the moment she had been in Alphonz’s arms, and she had just let the thief flee while her scatterbrained self gazed into his eyes. She could feel her cheeks turning rosy at the thought. What was wrong with her?
Irrational anger spurred the archer on, with the recruit right on her heels. It wasn’t the thief she was angry at now. It was herself. She didn’t know how to handle the volatile mixture of emotions and hormones especially in the heat of the moment, and without the chance to even sort the matter out in a levelheaded fashion she grew ornery. On the one hand, she was actually able to keep up with the armorless knight, but on the other, she became even less rational than she had been to begin with. She was already pushing the reserves of her stamina and this angry charge of hers was forcing fatigue onto her at an accelerated rate. Still, she wouldn’t allow herself to slow down. She pondered if the spearman was impressed that she was able to keep up with him. Ugh, why did it matter what he thinks? She was just trying to get her stuff back, not show off her shapely legs. Ugh, stop it!
While Selunae was secretly hoping that Alphonz was at least noticing her in some sort of a pleasing way, the thief ahead of them was tiring. The blue-haired urchin, failing to outrun her pursuers, once again took to the shadows and alleys in an attempt to throw them off. This time, she knocked over anything she could get her hands on – empty barrels, clay pots, loose bricks and planks – anything that looked like it could impair pursuit. She recognized the impending end of her flight by the telltale stinging in her legs and sides, as well as the burning in her lungs as each new breath of air rushed in and couldn’t afford to have either of them on her trail when her legs finally failed her. Alphonz had pursued through this particular alley earlier from the opposite direction, while Selunae had taken the street. Neither recruit nor thief had exited the alley from this point of ingress though. This time it was the archer who gave chase through the noisy alley, making her way through a mess of refuse and debris that had been scattered to deter her advance. By the time she circumvented the ramshackle obstacle course the alley had become, she had missed the direction the sneaky scamp had taken at the adjoining alley this one dead-ended into. Luckily for her, Alphonz had better sense than to charge headstrong into the alley, though his footsteps were never far behind.
Hopefully he'd had better luck keeping track.

Seeing the thief go once again into an alley, Alphonz growled in anger, continuing his sprint, this time with Lunie right next to him. Looking at her for a split second, tens of random thoughts about her in his arms flooded his mind. Shaking his head as it was becoming redder once again, he decided to concentrate on their quarry for now. What the hell am I feeling? Ugh, guess for now I should just try and catch her...
Seeing the girl dash into the alleyway, he followed. However, it seemed that her plan to throw pots and other obstacle was having a better effect on Alphonz than on Lunie. Almost tripping, he had to slow down the pace unlike the much more nimbler huntress who didn't seem that much impaired in comparison. W-woah, she's pretty... I UM... PRETTY GOOD, YES, THAT'S WHAT I MEANT. Ugh, am I seriously arguing with myself!??! Grabbing one of the smaller bricks, small enough to grasped entirely with his hand, Alphonz who was now paying more attention to his surroundings, noticed the thief going left. Sadly, his friend didn't seem to be paying much attention, as she looked lost in front of him, probably having lost her trail. Running towards her, he shouted: "Left! She went left! We've got her on the ropes now!"
Noticing another perpendicular alleyway cutting through the one they were now running through, Alphonz guessed she must've taken a turn here, considering she wasn't anywhere down the road. Looking off to both sides, he almost started freaking out, not being able to see her. Almost... Looking a bit up on the right side, he finally took notice of the thief, trying to climb up a stone wall, hoping to lost the both of them. The fatigue was slowing her down which gave Alphonz a good target. Aiming for a few moments, he threw the brick towards her at full force, hitting her directly in the arm, ending her attempt to climb the wall a bit early.
"It's over! Give us the bag now!"

The huntress had hesitated, perhaps too long. The thief had completely eluded her sight. Even with the assistance of Alphonz telling her which direction the thief had turned, she seemed useless at this point. Once again it was Alphonz that took action, spotting the fleeing vagrant and thwarting what would have been a final escape. The diminutive rogue fell with a scream that ended even more abruptly than it began. Fear gripped Selunae’s heart at the sound, but there would have been nothing short of blind luck that could have helped them had the thief scaled the wall and found safety on the other side. As things were now, the young girl was cornered and afraid. She had taken a nasty spill from the knight’s thrown projectile and was covered in cuts and scrapes, maybe worse. In that moment, it was as if Selunae were looking at her own shadow. Her mind wandered back to only days before, when she found herself unceremoniously dumped into the street by a snobbish woman who gave her the same treatment as this thief was certainly accustomed to. The pain and fear in the young girl’s eyes, and the tears that welled up in them, they struck Selunae profoundly.
In that moment, the archer’s heart reached out to the blue-haired thief. On the surface, there was only a distant yet plaintive expression on the huntress’s face. Underneath, there was insecurity and empathy – a scared child witnessing something that made her feel helpless and uncomfortable. What would drive someone to this? Alphonz startled the huntress out of her thoughts with a gung-ho shout demanding the surrender of the thief, but something just felt wrong. She felt a sudden urge that she didn’t understand to step in and protect the injured girl from him, which she did with merely a hand gesture for him to stay back as she moved in. “Hey.. I’m.. n-not gonna hurt ya ‘kay? I just want my bag back.”
As Selunae approached, the young girl panicked and tried to stand but collapsed again with a short shriek of pain, the tears beginning to stream down her cheeks. “D-don’t! I-I can still fight, y’know!” To prove her point, the rogue pulled a knife, not even a real weapon, just something she’d pilfered from the kitchen of an inn. Trembling, she brandished it with both hands at the approaching archer, who in turn kept a safe distance but continued to call Alphonz off.
“What is your name. My name is Selunae, but everyone calls me Lunie. You don’t have to be afraid, I don’t wanna fight you.” Since she was clearly not being allowed any closer, the huntress took a seat where she was on the hard stone. She kept a calm and even friendly tone as she spoke, not even sure how she managed it. She was on the verge of tears, herself, but some part of her seemed to be in control of this situation.
“Delia.” The young girl sniffled, lowering the knife. She didn’t put it away, but it was still progress.
“That is a pretty name. Where are your parents, Delia?” Arming herself with only a smile, the archer seemed to be slowly gaining ground.
“Dun’ got none.. My ma, she got sick a long time ago and my da was an Il’yan soldier.. he went to fight the rebels and never come home. They tried’a put me in an orph’nage but the grownups there beat me so I ran away.” The girl sniffled again and rubbed her tears away. “I don’t need no grownups no more.”
“That’s terrible.. I’m so sorry Delia. Are.. are ya hungry? There’s an apple in that bag if yer hungry, ‘kay? I’ll let ya have it.” Selunae gave the girl a sincere smile and pointed at the bag for emphasis.
“I ain’t ate nothin’ in a couple days.. do ya really mean it?” There was unquestionable skepticism in the thief’s eyes, but she opened the bag and retrieved the lone apple all the same. The blue-haired urchin ravenously tore into the fruit as if Selunae was going to change her mind at any moment. It was a sad sight to see a mere child in such a pitiful state, especially when things were supposed to be on the rise in Bern lately.
There had to be something else she could do, but what? She turned to Alphonz, wondering what he made of this.

Realising that he had probably gone a bit too far now that he realised the girl was actually quite young, even more than him and Lunie, Alphonz started feeling guilty about his actions. Great going, successor to the Silver Vanguard, who's mission is to PROTECT the population, not throw rocks at them... He couldn't even feel angry at her for pulling a knife on him, poor girl was probably hungry, tired and scared to top it all off...
Seeing Lunie almost instinctively reach out to her, trying to show some kindness, Alphonz stared at her for a few moments, impressed by the huntress. Man, I wish I could know instively how to show compassion like that... God knows it's something I need to work on to be a proper knight. That girl sure is something... She's also quite prett- UGH, WHY DO I KEEP THINKING THESE THINGS... Turning towards the blue haired thief to try and ignore his thoughts about Lunie for a few seconds, he listened silently to her story. Having grown up in quite a well off family, Alphonz didn't know much about true poverty, so while yes, her tale was sad, he still couldn't really grasp exactly what living that way really meant. He did however, notice how hungry she was when she completly devoured the apple.Well that sure as hell won't fill her up...
As Lunie then turned to him, he could feel his cheeks turning red, not because of her particularly, but because of shame. He really felt bad now to have acted like such. To hit a girl like with a rock... His father would've been ashamed of him. Tuning his head a bit, he tried to think of something for a bit.
"W-well... Guess we can't just leave her there, now can we?" he mumbled to himself, only loud enough so Lunie could hear. Walking a few steps towards her, he kneeled down and tried to talk to her, hoping he could try and mend his earlier mistakes. "Listen, how about you give me that bag, and in exchange I get you something to eat? Y-you don't have to apologise or anything... Really, I was the one who acted too harshly, and I'm very sorry. Now, could I please ask you to lower your knife? I promise I won't hurt you."

Selunae was deeply relieved that Alphonz was on board with her gentler approach. She had been afraid – especially because of the how things turned out with Devon – that the knight would be attempting to capture the young thief and sending her off to waste away in some dark cell. Whether the archer was gullible or saw a softer side sprouting within the silver recruit, she trusted Alphonz’s change of heart. Delia did not. The young thief shuddered as he came closer. She made no attempt to flee though, which was most likely due to her wounded leg.
“Dun c-come no closer..!” Delia was still very much intimidated by the young knight. He struck her as being superior to her in every way from might, size, age, social standing – everything. The red-haired huntress at least hadn’t hurt her yet, but she was unsure of her as well.
“This is Alphonz, a friend’a mine. He’s not gonna hurt ya anymore. Yer safe here now. If yer scared, then just toss the bag to me. I have something that can help ya in there, but ya gotta trust us ‘kay?” Selunae seemed to be able to at least make the thief appear at ease, but it was still like feeding a feral cat. One wrong move and she’d surely lash out like a cornered beast.
“Promise? You promise not to hurt me?” Delia exchanged doubtful glances between the pair in front of her.
“Of course, Delia. I promise. We’re friends too, now, right?” The archer tilted her head to the side in a playful manner, Delia’s eyes widening in surprise. The defiance in the rogue visibly washed away in mere seconds as the words sank in.
“F-friends? You w-want to be my friend even after I..” Selunae interrupted her with a small giggle, and shook her head.
“It’s okay. You were jus’ hungry. It’s not your fault. How about comin’ home with me for dinner tonight. I was jus’ gettin’ ready to head home anyway.” Looking into the shocked girl’s eyes, Selunae giggled again as a nod affirmed the thief’s acceptance and then gave Alphonz a playful nudge and glance. “Yer invited, too, Ser Knight.”
“Y’ain’t jus’ pullin’ my leg are ya? Is it really okay?” Delia’s fear was slowly transforming into hope right before Selunae’s and Alphonz’s eyes. People had offered her food from time to time, sure, but to not only be called ‘friend’ but invited home as well. It was a kindness no one had ever bestowed upon her. At last, Delia put the knife away and hefted the bag to the huntress. Examining the contents, Selunae removed a rolled up cloth bandage. She hadn’t restocked her supplies from her failed excursion to Bonerock yet, so this would have to do unless Alphonz had any vulneraries or elixirs.
“Well, of course it is. Oh, and Alphonz, do ya have anything I can give her? I’m outta vulneraries still.” The archer turned her head to face the recruit, hoping he had some left or had at least restocked by now.
