It was the break of day, and Rommel sat up and yawned. He was at a makeshift campsite of his at the side of the road leading to Fort Larguz, where his destination lies. He could feel himself being tired from the lack of sleep, and why shouldn't he be? He and Kaiser, his steed, didn't stop until Rommel was sure it was nearing midnight and even then, he rested his head on a log he managed to find nearby. It wasn't much, but Rommel was content with the fact that he was able to find something he could sleep on. Of course, there was the thought that maybe the fort was just right around the corner, but it was dark and he was too tired at that time to test that theory out. No, he needed his rest if he were to conduct his business efficiently.
He waved those thoughts aside and slowly stood up. He couldn't afford to be distracted by needless thinking, and so he walked over to his sleeping horse and gently patted it, waking it up. He felt it wasn't a wise idea to wake his steed in a rough way, as he knew the horse's brash personality. The horse neighed and slowly rose, readying itself for the journey. He opened the steed's pack saddle, checking if it had been tampered with. He went through every item; his books, research papers, an extra sword enclosed in its sheath, a letter containing his permission to enter the fort enclosed with a red seal, a small box containing his quill and some ink, and a small and worn notebook. All his items were accounted for, and after confirming that fact and taking the letter out, he closed the bag. He placed the letter in his pocket then he checked his weapons fastened to the other side of the saddle, an iron lance and a brown leather scabbard containing an iron sword. He made sure that his weapons were in good form, touching the iron lance's tip to feel its material and unsheathing the sword to do the same.
After meticulously checking, he returned the weapons to where he got them and climbed atop his horse. He grabbed its reins and, after placing himself well to make sure he won't fall off, he had Kaiser move. Obliging, the horse trotted on and started to make its way towards Fort Larguz.

Mmh.. morning. Aria thought to herself as she rose herself out of her bed. It wasn't really much of a bed, just a bed roll, and a wyvern tail acting as a pillow. She rubbed the sleep out of her eyes and let out a loud yawn. The skies above them were still dark. But, if one were to look towards the eastern horizon they could see the creeping band of light blue stretching across the sky. She elbowed her wyvern lightly. The large red creature remained unphased by her gesture. In fact, the creature let out a half snort, half snore, sort of noise from her nose.
"Come on get up you." Aria spoke as she got up and approached her wyvern's head. The creature had her head resting atop her two front legs. She took a step back and stretched a bit. Her body made the occasional crack, and the armor she slept in made a slight clang. She groaned and let out a sigh.
"Chewy wake up!" She yelled. The wyvern lazily opened one eye. The wyvern determined that they were not in immediate danger and closed it's eye once more. The brick colored wyvern shimmied her body as if to make herself more comfortable. Aria sighed again.
"Fine. Be that way." She spoke. The rider grabbed her pouch and examined it's contents. A letter of introduction from her brother. Some hard tack. A jug of water. Some jerky. And a little care package her mother packed, to be delivered to the family in Fort Larguz. The pouch pockets had a variety of other goodies. She reached into one and pulled out a hand full of peppermint leaves. She shoved some of it in her mouth to freshen up her morning breath then walked over to her wyvern's nose. She raised her hand near the creature's nostril and waited. The wyvern took a deep breath in and instantly woke up. The red creature got up and immediate shook it's head and stretched out it's body. It hated the scent of peppermint.
"Good morning sunshine." Aria spoke with a bit of an annoyed tone. She quickly pocketed the rest of the pepper mint into her bag. The wyvern glared at her before letting out several hard snorts from her nose. It let out a slight roar mixed with a yawn.
"I tried to wake you up nicely but you wouldn't budge." The sky haired rider explained. The sky above them started to morph into various shades of purple and orange. The rider spoke as she finger combed her hair then tied it into a low hanging pony tail. A bright red ribbon held the tail in place.
"Come on... I want to try and get to get us to civilization before lunch." She spoke to Chewy. At this point the wyvern had settled herself down enough to let Aria come near her. The wyvern let out a vocal groan of disapproval. It wanted to sleep more.
"You can sleep when we get there." She explained, as she clearly understood all of the inhuman vocalizations of her mount as if they were simple English. She patted her wyvern on the nose and did a check of her mount. She made sure her lance was in it's holster. The reigns were nice and snug. The loose ends were tied. And that Chewy herself didn't sport any weird new scars. Once, she deemed Chewy to be in perfect working order, only then did she climb up onto the wyvern's saddle and tie herself down.
"Ready?" The wyvern let out a small gruff. She had her wings stretched out and ready to go. Aria gently kicked the wyvern's sides and the red creature jumped. It then let out several flaps of it's mighty wings and took to the skies. Aria let Chewy fly around in circles for a few minutes, just to get her warmed up. They then descended a bit to just above the tree line and followed the road towards the fort. --
(OOC they were a fair bit behind Rommel. They will probably pass over him soon. You can flag her down if you like with something reflective or a shout.)

(OOC: Considering Rommel doesn't interact socially at all unless absolutely necessary, I can't come up with a good excuse to have him flag down Aria. How about having them meet by the fort's gate and seeing where this plot goes?)
The journey was a relative silent for Rommel, as nothing could be heard but the strong gushes of the wind and the light sound of his horse's hooves beating on the dirt road. He appreciated this change of atmosphere, as he wasn't a big fan of the chaotic life in a city. It has its perks, sure, and he can suck it up but he still preferred being alone like this. It allowed him to think, to reflect on what had gone over his past...
Flashbacks of that day returned to him, causing him to bite his lip in frustration and accidentally stopping Kaiser in its tracks. Even his coping mechanism, his cold personality, wasn't enough to stop the memories haunting him. He did a good job hiding it, but it would always come back to bite him...
Kaiser must've sensed his dread, as it neighed in annoyance. Rommel was able to snap back to reality after the fact, and he quickly realized what had happened.
"You always have a habit of doing that."Rommel remarked, pressing his horse on to continue the journey. Kaiser was probably his closest friend, and that was a feat in of itself. It could sense Rommel's emotions and act accordingly, and most of the times this proved to be useful. Plus, the steed acted as his social companion as Rommel himself doesn't like talking with people unless he deems it necessary.
"Thanks for that."Rommel said to the horse, to which its response was just a snort. Kaiser was always a proud horse, and so this response didn't surprise him in any way. The two continued the trot to the fort in relative silence.

The rider and wyvern flew though the air at their usual pace. They were high enough to avoid the local trees but low enough to be seen by those on the ground. They passed by a few things through the air. A bit of the local fauna. A wood cutter. A rouge cow. And an armored man on his horse. Aria assumed he was one of the military. She tapped Chewy with her foot and the wyvern let out a bit of a roar as she flew over head. The rider gave a salute as she flew past him. It wasn't something that was customary but she felt like she had to do it. It was the least she could to. Give respect to those who have sworn themselves to protect the country and her people.
After fifteen minutes or so they arrived at the fort. Or rather, they arrived at the front gates to the the fort's territory. Aria was ordered to land by the local guard and forced to state her business. She explained she was on a delivery job. She showed the guard her letter of introduction and was told to wait. The messengers would relay the information to the guys inside just to see if her story held true.
Aria sat there outside the gates and took a moment to look around at everything. Things were different than the last time she came here. The woods that surrounded the fort seemed to have shrunk in the last five years. She didn't see the settlement of people that used to live around here either. She was informed that the settlement was forced to move further away from the fort due to the war. She took notice of a few new guard towers and extra walls.
Chewy's attention was focused on the other wyvern riders. She eyed their wyverns up and down as if trying to discern if they were once part of her nest. Or one of neighbors. Their scents were entirely different then the ones she grew up with. And that seemed to make her a bit uncomfortable. She scoffed at them in a way a wyvern would.
"Smatter with you?" Aria asked as she pulled herself closer to her wyvern's face. The red wyvern was forced to tilt her head back to see Aria, then let out a snortle from her nose.

As they walked on at their usual pace, Rommel was relatively in deep thought until he could hear a roar of a wyvern at the distance. He looked at the direction of where he assumed the sound came, and he saw a wyvern rider flying overhead them. He also saw the same wyvern rider giving him a salute. He returned the gesture as they flew past him as a sign of respect. He wasn't sure if that wyvern rider was part of the military, but as she showed him respect he felt it was also customary to return the favor. Basic courtesy and all.
They arrived by the fort's gates around twenty minutes or so. Rommel had never been to Fort Larguz at all, though he was used to seeing forts. He has traveled around the country during his studies, but never to the home of the esteemed Wyvern Academy. Before the journey, he was actually worried about where the fort and the academy is but luckily his letter contained the directions to both his problems. He stopped in front of the gates and dismounted as a guard approached him.
"State your business."The guard said in a professional tone. Rommel was impressed, as he was used to seeing lazy and incompetent guards across the nation. Seeing one that actually performed his duty in a strict manner was a refreshing change of pace.
He pulled out the letter tucked away in his pocket and handed it to the guard, with him taking it and reading it rather meticulously. After doing so, he returned the letter and raised his hand in a salute.
"You must be Sir Ludvigg."The guard remarked."The scholars at the academy are waiting for you, sir. As part of protocol, I'll be sending a messenger to inform them of your arrival. Please wait a moment, sir."
After Rommel returned the salute, the guard called his companion and relayed the orders, after which the messenger nodded and ran off towards the inside.
Rommel took this opportunity to take in his surroundings. Overall, Fort Larguz was more impressive than the other miniscule forts he had been to, thanks to the large walls and impressive workmanship of the towers that were positioned strategically around the walls. He noticed that there was another waiting by the gates, a blue-haired woman tending to her wyvern. He was quite sure that it was the same wyvern rider that had showed them respect earlier...
No matter, he thought to himself. He hadn't been given a reason to further interact with her, and he'd like to keep his social interactions as brief as possible. Though he was curious of the dynamic between the rider and the wyvern, as the more he continued to observe them, the more his intrigue on this subject of wyverns grew. Wyverns were the one thing that was mainly glossed over during his studies, and it was a shame too. They're a pride of the nation, and so being exposed to little of them seemed to be doing them a disservice. That was why he was here, to learn more about wyverns.

Aria let out a light sigh. She then wordlessly commanded Chewy to take a few paces back. A few light kicks with her heels and the wyvern assumed a position to dismount. Aria gently untied herself from her saddle and dismounted.
"You are usually good with other wyverns." She patted her wyvern on the side of her head and slowly moved down to towards the chin. She scratched it in the manner the wyvern liked and it showed. The wyvern's tail tip bounced around up and down. She gave the other wyverns a look that seemed to speak "hey look my human loves me."
Aria stopped after a moment. Chewy gave her a nose nuzzle. Aria smiled softly then pushed her aside.
"Enough Chew. Don't want to spoil you." She stated. Even though Chewy was probably already beyond the point of spoilage. After a few more moments of awkward silence, Aria distracted herself by checking the saddle and reigns on her mount. Something to make her look like an average rider in a crowd full of what she assumed was military professionals.
A familiar voice stopped her through and made her turn around. She smiled at the man in front of her. Her older brother Emmett. A grizzled looking sir who sorted brown hair and locks. Emmett looked nothing like Aria. The sky haired rider inherited most of her father's traits while Emmett got most of their mom's.
"They there big bro--" She cut herself off. Here was her older brother dressed in full military garb. Oh right he's on the job! She quickly stood at attention and gave him a salute.
"Sir."
"At ease. What are you doing here Aria?"
"Permission to speak freely sir."
"Granted."
"You are a dolt. You left home without so much a peep. Mom was worried sick and sent me to see if you were here."
"I left a note."
"That we found three days later! I understand that duty calls.. but seriously. At least tell someone something." She sighed. Her hand rummaged through her bag and pulled out the care package.
"It's supposed to be for the family. New knives and some dried spices for the kitchen. As well as a few treats for Boris. Was all we could get on short notice. There's a letter in there too. I'd deliver it to your home but.. everything's.. moved." She looked around.
"Village had to be moved further away due to the war. I have got a few more duties to attend to. I'll arrange for you to have access to the mess hall for breakfast." He presented her with a visitor's pass.
"While on the premises I am not your brother. Understand."
"Sir. Yes sir!" Aria saluted. Chewy stuck her face closer to Emmett and sniffed him. He knew Emmett as long as Aria. She knew his wyvern Boris and recognized both scents. The wyvern would never understand why Aria sometimes treated Emmett like a different person. To Chew, Emmett will always be Emmett. And will be treated like Emmett, she nuzzled him expecting the same attention Aria gave earlier.
"Chew. No." Aria glanced at her wyvern. Emmett sighed and rubbed the wyvern on the snout.
"Not her fault she doesn't understand rank. How've you been Chew? Keeping Aria on her toes?" He asked. Chewy let out a sort of coo. Emmett then gestured for Chew to step away. The wyvern did.
"Mess hall's the lone building past the main path. Drop off Chew at the stables before you walk over." He raised his arms to show the general direction of the two places. Aria nodded and was dismissed. The wyvern rider let out a large sigh and remounted her wyvern. She ordered Chew to take flight again and they made their way further into the fort.
(OOC Feel free to use Emmett as you see fit/if you need to.)

After some time the same guard that had greeted him earlier returned. "Lieutenant Emmet will be arriving shortly to provide you escort to the academy, sir."
Rommel nodded, prompting the guard to raise a salute and then went back to his station. He thought he'd be going to the academy by himself judging from the directions that was written on the letter but he supposed he should just take up the academy's offer of an escort. Though he did wonder about the man that was sent himself, as he was a Lieutenant just like him. Perhaps he was stationed to the fort as he hadn't met this man yet, and he has been all across Bern.
Then just as he was deep in thought, a man with brown hair and in a military outfit came from the gate and approached the wyvern rider that was also waiting. The two engaged in a chat, and though Rommel didn't mean to, he managed to pick up a few words from their conversation. Though those weren't as important to him as hearing the name "Emmet".
He must be Lieutenant Emmet, Rommel thought. He was dressed in military clothing, spoke as professionally as possible despite the obvious friendliness that indicated that the wyvern rider and him were close and the timing seemed to have indicated this. After their conversation had finished and the wyvern rider flew off, Rommel approached the man and extended a hand.
"You must be Lieutenant Emmet," Rommel began. "I'm Lieutenant Rommel Henderson Ludvigg."

Lieutenant Emmett took the hand that was offered to him and gave it a firm shake.
"Pleasure to meet you Lieutenant Rommel Henderson Ludvigg. For simplicity's sake, I ask that you address me as Emmett. Welcome to Fort Larguz. I trust your journey went well." He let go of the hand.
"Allow me to show you to the stables so you can rest your mount. We've also prepared room and board for you to rest in should you need it." Emmett waited a moment for Rommel's responses before turning around and addressing the guards. He gave them a firm salute and they opened the gates. Emmett led Rommel inside, and the gates closed behind them. The pair still had a great deal of walking ahead of them. The fort itself was a massive castle-like structure that stood in the very middle of the territory. Atop a high hill surrounded by yet another wall and one could see wyvern and their riders flying around its perimeter.
The territory around the fort held several buildings. Most were living quarters and stables. But, the war had taken a toll on the fort and her surroundings. All around them in various locations there were soldiers working on repairing the damages left behind by the war. The sound of hammers hitting nails and axes splitting wood could be heard throughout the area. Tents were pitched in several areas. And people moving about their business.
"The academy itself is located within the fort. This outer permit serves mostly as living quarters and as a training ground. You can't see it from here but, further down the way we've got patches of land that we use to cultivate food. It's mostly things like beets, potatoes, and carrots." He spoke as he guided Rommel out towards the stables. Horses and other non-wyvern animals were kept in a different set of stables than the wyverns.
Aria and Chew flew in the air around them before they got a guide to land them in the wyvern stables. Aria gently guided Chewy down and guided her into one of the empty stalls.
"Phew! We made it." She spoke as she got off of Chewy's saddle and started to unbuckle her reigns. The rider took a moment to get a feel for her surroundings. And everything felt oddly right. Like she had been in this place a hundred times before. Then again every wyvern stable was kinda sorta built to look and feel the same. With the same amount of space and tools needed to properly care for the animal in question. She asked the stable boy where she could fetch some water and meal for her mount. The stable boy responded and Aria got to work. She filled up Chewy's empty water trough with several buckets of water. Then she found herself a hacked off piece of what looked like a goat leg and threw it into the food trough. She washed herself up with a bit of water and strong vinegar. Chewy moved about in her stable feeling it out before finally stretching her wings and making herself comfortable.
She spotted a familiar black wyvern in the stall across from her and let out a sort of high pitched chirp. Or Coo? Squeal? Aria couldn't quite pick a word for the sound but she knew what it meant. Aria turned around and sure enough, she saw Boris in his own stall. He returned the noise with one of his own. To which Aria walked over towards the stall. The stable boy and a guard tried to stop her but she assured them it was alright. They wouldn't have it.
"Can't let you near the Lutienant's wyvern ma'm."
"Oh, Please. Boris and I go way back." That was true. Boris was Emmett's wyvern. And one of Chew's siblings. It was on Boris that Aria learned how to ride. And whenever Emmett came home it was Aria who took care of Boris in his place. The big black wyvern approached the sky haired rider and stuck his head out over the stable boy and guard.
"Hi Boris!" Aria spoke with some joy in her voice. The big wyvern pressed his head down between the guard and stable boy trying to get them to move.
"Woah!" The guard was nearly knocked over by the wyvern's big head. Aria raised her hand to Boris who sniffed it lightly then let Aria touch him. Aria petted and scratched his chin just like she did Chewy. But, Boris was more of a hamm then Chew when it came to attention. He pushed his head down into Aria's chest and rubbed up and down her chest and belly. Letting out a sort of childish but adorable little growl as he did.
"I know it's been a while. Missed me did you? You big loveable lug." Aria continued to dote on the wyvern.
The guard and stable boy were forced to admit defeat. It was clear that they knew each other. And this sort of behavior was seen only with Lieutenant Emmett or his two sons. Aria took a step back when Boris' affections became a bit too much for her.
"Alright, that's enough lovey-dovey stuff. How's he been treating you, let me see. Get into your stance." Aria spoke and the wyvern complied immediately. It stood at attention with its head held up high. Aria smiled softly and proceeded to examine the wyvern. She ran a hand down it's neck and up to the first shoulder. She took note of how Boris' skin texture was and the color to his skin.
"Perfect as always." She spoke as she continued to make her way down examining the wyvern's body. She walked all the way around and deemed Boris to be fit as a fiddle. All of the scar's on the wyvern's grizzled body were healed up. And she noted them to be mostly old wounds.
"Alright. You can relax." The wyvern let out a huff and lowered his head again.
"You are fit as a fiddle. Good, cause you and I both know Dad would have a heart attack if he heard Emmett was treating you poorly. Not that he ever would, but you know what I mean." She patted him on the head. Then got a big old lick from the wyvern.
"Ack!"
