Appearance:
Hal sticks out like a sore thumb when standing among other Elibeans due to his Nabatan heritage. His warm skin and golden hair contrast against those around him. Although he possesses uncommon physical traits comparison to his peers, he he's rather unimposing since he stands at five feet four inches. Additionally, he's not bulky as his father, and he's rather lean. However, it's clear that traveling on sand did keep him in shape considering his field of study being magic.
His outfit is nothing special, but Hal typically prefers clothing with notable contrast and one that wouldn't hinder his ability to travel; a loose-fitting shirt with snug pants and undergarment, with a white cloak passed down from his mother. Being no stranger to traveling variety of terrains, he holds a satchel around his waist that can keep several small tools with the exception of magic tomes.

Personality:
As the youngest of his family by a huge margin, Hal was babied from birth by his parents and siblings, so he developed quite differently from his siblings. He's incredibly social, willingly taking on leadership roles without a second thought, an aspect of his personality that's frequently compared to that of his father. Hal's notably creative as well, leading to unorthodox but efficient use of his magic as well as generally contributing to any artistic or problem-solving endeavors.
A boy always brimming with curiosity, Hal is the type to ask many questions when answers are needed. Some may find it endearing, and some may find it annoying. However, other perceptions of his demeanor does not change the fact that he puts knowledge at the highest esteem. This leads him to becoming more humble, voluntarily stating any shortcomings if he lacks the knowledge or power to provide anything. In fact, Hal does not appreciate being referred to as a prodigy or anything synonymous to it.
Hal is rather young, but saw many characters in his travel, so nothing really surprises him when it comes to the quality of one's persona. However, he's optimistic and always attempts to find the best in someone. This doesn't mean he's naive, as he's not opposed to calling evil for what it is -- evil -- but not many evil people are truly evil. Thus, he lives with a gray perspective.
Despite his mature outlook in contrast to his youthful presence, he's not perfect by any means. Hal has trouble accessing threats accurately and takes unnecessary risks. Some call it being heroic, some call it being reckless. If things do not go the way he wishes, he relies on authoritative figures to take over for him, which could be construed as being manipulative. In any case, Hal is still a child and continuously learning.

History:
As the youngest child of a small eclectic family in Nabata, Hal grew up in arguably some of the worst conditions. Sandstorms, although somewhat predictable after generations of adapting, were destructive even with forewarning. They did find solace in being located near grassland, but the family only ventured out for hunting and trading. Only on rare occasions did they ever travel out of their home.
In regards to occupations, his family were quite diverse. Katahdin, Hal's father, was an incredible mercenary that claimed multiple titles, some bad and some good, after fulfilling many contracts at the behest of employers.

NPC fight:
The axe-wielder tossed his weapon across the grass and embedded itself right into the tree beside Hal. He squeaked at the sudden attack and instinctively pulled out his tome with an immediate thunderbolt crashing right onto the man in question, whose body slowly folded onto the ground. "Wha- who was that? Are there more?" Already alert, Hal retreated into the nearby forest and slid around trees with his small body to lose whoever could potentially be chasing after him. Small body, big mind.
PC fight:
The arrow landed near Hal's feet, and he immediately scurried into cover while attempting to strike a thunderbolt against the assailant. But with his back against the barricade, he could only hope that the attack wasn't futile and maintain cover. He's never been hit by an arrow, but the sound they made while in the air was scary enough for the boy.
